The exchange operator formalism (EOF) describes many-body integrable systems using phase-space variables involving an exchange operator that acts on any pair of particles. We establish an equivalence between models described by EOF and the complete infinite family of parent Hamiltonians (PHJ) describing quantum many-body models with ground-states of Jastrow form. This makes it possible to identify the invariants of motion for any model in the PHJ family and establish its integrability, even in the presence of an external potential. Using this construction we establish the integrability of the long-range Lieb-Liniger model, describing bosons in a harmonic trap and subject to contact and Coulomb interactions in one dimension. We give a variety of examples exemplifying the integrability of Hamiltonians in this family.
We completely solve the problem of classifying all one-dimensional quantum potentials with nearest- and next-to-nearest-neighbors interactions whose ground state is Jastrow-like, i.e., of Jastrow type but depending only on differences of consecutive particles. In particular, we show that these models must necessarily contain a three-body interaction term, as was the case with all previously known examples. We discuss several particular instances of the general solution, including a new hyperbolic potential and a model with elliptic interactions which reduces to the known rational and trigonome…
Knowledge of the ground state of a homogeneous quantum many-body system can be used to find the exact ground state of a dual inhomogeneous system with a confining potential. For the complete family of parent Hamiltonians with a ground state of Bijl-Jastrow form in free space, the dual system is shown to include a one-body harmonic potential and two-body long-range interactions. The extension to anharmonic potentials and quantum solids with Nosanov-Jastrow wavefunctions is also presented. We apply this exact mapping to construct eigenstates of trapped systems from free-space solutions with a va…
We find the complete family of many-body quantum Hamiltonians with ground-state of Jastrow form involving the pairwise product of a pair function in an arbitrary spatial dimension. The parent Hamiltonian generally includes a two-body pairwise potential as well as a three-body potential. We thus generalize the Calogero-Marchioro construction for the three-dimensional case to arbitrary spatial dimensions. The resulting family of models is further extended to include a one-body term representing an external potential, which gives rise to an additional long-range two-body interaction. Using this f…
A one-dimensional quantum many-body system consisting of particles confined in a harmonic potential and subject to finite-range two-body and three-body inverse-square interactions is introduced. The range of the interactions is set by truncation beyond a number of neighbors and can be tuned to interpolate between the Calogero-Sutherland model and a system with nearest and next-nearest neighbors interactions discussed by Jain and Khare. The model also includes the Tonks-Girardeau gas describing impenetrable bosons as well as a novel extension with truncated interactions. While the ground state …
The ground state of Shor-Movassagh chain can be analytically described by the Motzkin paths. There is no analytical description of the excited states, the model is not solvable. We prove the integrability of the model without interacting part in this paper [free Shor-Movassagh]. The Lax pair for the free Shor-Movassagh open chain is explicitly constructed. We further obtain the boundary $K$-matrices compatible with the integrability of the model on the open interval. Our construction provides a direct demonstration for the quantum integrability of the model, described by Yang-Baxter algebra. D…
In this paper we study an su$(m)$-invariant open version of the Haldane-Shastry spin chain whose ground state can be obtained from the chiral correlator of the $c=m-1$ free boson boundary conformal field theory. We show that this model is integrable for a suitable choice of the chain sites depending on the roots of the Jacobi polynomial $P_N^{β-1,β'-1}$, where $N$ is the number of sites and $β,β'$ are two positive parameters. We also compute in closed form the first few nontrivial conserved charges arising from the twisted Yangian invariance of the model. We evaluate the chain's partition func…
Assisted by general symmetry arguments and a many-body invariant, we introduce a phase of matter that constitutes a topological SO(5) superfluid. Key to this finding is the realization of an exactly solvable model that displays some similarities with a minimal model of superfluid $^3$He. We study its quantum phase diagram and correlations, and find exotic superfluid as well as metallic phases in the repulsive sector. At the critical point separating trivial and nontrivial superfluid phases, our Hamiltonian reduces to the globally SO(5)-symmetric Gaudin model with a degenerate ground manifold t…
In this paper, we study the surface energy of the one-dimensional supersymmetric $t-J$ model with unparallel boundary magnetic fields, which is a typical $U(1)$-symmetry broken quantum integrable strongly correlated electron system. It is shown that at the ground state, the contribution of inhomogeneous term in the Bethe ansatz solution of eigenvalues of transfer matrix satisfies the finite size scaling law $L^β$ where $β<0$. Based on it, the physical quantities of the system in the thermodynamic limit are calculated. We obtain the patterns of Bethe roots and the analytical expressions of dens…
We study a class of Galilean-invariant one-dimensional Bethe ansatz solvable models in the thermodynamic limit. Their rapidity distribution obeys an integral equation with a difference kernel over a finite interval, which does not admit a closed-form solution. We develop a general formalism enabling one to study the moments of the rapidity distribution, showing that they satisfy a difference-differential equation. The derived equation is explicitly analyzed in the case of the Lieb-Liniger model and the moments are analytically calculated. In addition, we obtained the exact information about th…
A novel Bethe Ansatz scheme is proposed to calculate physical properties of quantum integrable systems without $U(1)$ symmetry. As an example, the anti-periodic XXZ spin chain, a typical correlated many-body system embedded in a topological manifold, is examined. Conserved "momentum" and "charge" operators are constructed despite the absence of translational invariance and $U(1)$ symmetry. The ground state energy and elementary excitations are derived exactly. It is found that two intrinsic fractional (one half) zero modes accounting for the double degeneracy exist in the eigenstates. The elem…
Our review covers microscopic foundations of generalized hydrodynamics (GHD). As one generic approach we develop form factor expansions, for ground states and generalized Gibbs ensembles (GGE). In the latter case the so obtained results are compared with predictions from GHD. One cornerstone of GHD are the GGE averaged microscopic currents, which can also be obtained through employing form factors. Discussed is a second, completely orthogonal approach based on the availability of a self-conserved current.
Finding out root patterns of quantum integrable models is an important step to study their physical properties in the thermodynamic limit. Especially for models without $U(1)$ symmetry, their spectra are usually given by inhomogeneous $T-Q$ relations and the Bethe root patterns are still unclear. In this paper with the antiperiodic $XXZ$ spin chain as an example, an analytic method to derive both the Bethe root patterns and the transfer-matrix root patterns in the thermodynamic limit is proposed. Based on them the ground state energy and elementary excitations in the gapped regime are derived.…
