We classify solutions of 10d type IIA/B supergravities with orientifolds, on a 4d maximally symmetric spacetime times a 6d group manifold. We then look for new solutions in previously unexplored solution classes, and find some: (anti-) de Sitter solutions with intersecting O4, O6 and D6, or Minkowski solutions with 3 intersecting O5, among others. We provide the numerical code that we developed for this purpose. We also prove new no-go theorems against (anti-) de Sitter solutions. We finally conjecture the absence of de Sitter solution for 2 or less intersecting source sets, implying that a 4d effective theory with de Sitter is at most N=1 supersymmetric.

Minkowski flux vacua of type II supergravities

We study flux compactifications of 10d type II supergravities to 4d Minkowski space-time, supported by parallel orientifold Op-planes with 3 $\leq$ p $\leq$ 8. With some restrictions, the 4d Ricci scalar can be written as a negative sum of squares involving BPS-like conditions. Setting all squares to zero provides automatically a solution to 10d equations of motion. This way, we characterize a broad class, if not the complete set, of Minkowski flux vacua. We also conjecture an extension to include non-geometric fluxes. None of our results rely on supersymmetry.

Supergravities with Minkowski x Sphere Vacua

Recently the authors have introduced a new gauged supergravity theory with a positive definite potential in D=6, obtained through a generalised Kaluza-Klein reduction from D=7. Of particular interest is the fact that this theory admits certain Minkowski x Sphere vacua. deSitter vacua from uplifting D-terms in effective supergravities from realistic strings

We study the possibility of using the D-term associated to an anomalous U(1) for the uplifting of AdS vacua (to dS or Minkowski vacua) in effective supergravities arising from string theories, particularly in the type IIB context put forward by Kachru, Kallosh, Linde and Trivedi (KKLT). We find a gauge invariant formulation of such a scenario (avoiding previous inconsistencies), where the anomalous D-term cannot be cancelled, thus triggering the uplifting of the vacua. 6D (1,1) Gauged Supergravities from Orientifold Compactifications

We study dimensional reductions of M-theory/type II strings down to 6D in the presence of fluxes and spacetime filling branes and orientifold planes of different types. We classify all inequivalent orientifold projections giving rise to $\mathcal{N}=(1,1)$ supergravities in 6D and work out the embedding tensor/fluxes dictionary for each of those. Finally we analyze the set of vacua for the different classes of reductions and find an abundance of "no-scale" type Minkowski vacua, as well as a few novel examples of (A)dS extrema.

Gauged Supergravities, de Sitter Space and Cosmology

We have studied scalar potentials V of gauged N=8,4,2 supergravities in d=4. Extrema of these potentials may correspond to de Sitter, anti de Sitter and Minkowski vacua. All de Sitter extrema that we have studied correspond to unstable maximum/saddle points with negative curvature |V''|=2V for the fields canonically normalized at the extremum. This is equivalent to the relation |m^2| =|R|/2 = 6H^2 for the tachyonic mass m, the curvature scalar R, and the Hubble constant H. On supersymmetric Anti-de-Sitter, de-Sitter and Minkowski flux backgrounds

We test the robustness of the conditions required for the existence of (supersymmetric) warped flux anti-de Sitter, de Sitter, and Minkowski backgrounds in supergravity theories using as examples suitable foliations of anti-de Sitter spaces. We find that there are supersymmetric de Sitter solutions in supergravity theories including maximally supersymmetric ones in 10- and 11-dimensional supergravities. Moreover, warped flux Minkowski backgrounds can admit Killing spinors which are not Killing on the Minkowski subspace and therefore cannot be put in a factorized form.

Attractors, black objects, and holographic RG flows in 5d maximal gauged supergravities

We perform a systematic search for static solutions in different sectors of 5d $N=8$ supergravities with compact and non-compact gauged R-symmetry groups, finding new and listing already known backgrounds. On Type IIB moduli stabilization and N = 4, 8 supergravities

We analyze D = 4 compactifications of Type IIB theory with generic, geometric and non-geometric, dual fluxes turned on. In particular, we study N = 1 toroidal orbifold compactifications that admit an embedding of the untwisted sector into gauged N = 4, 8 supergravities. On classical de Sitter and Minkowski solutions with intersecting branes

Motivated by the connection of string theory to cosmology or particle physics, we study solutions of type II supergravities having a four-dimensional de Sitter or Minkowski space-time, with intersecting Dp-branes and orientifold Op-planes. Charting the Landscape of Modified Gravity

We explore brane induced gravity on a 3-brane in six locally flat dimensions. To regulate the short distance singularities in the brane core, we resolve the thin brane by a cylindrical 4-brane, with the geometry of 4D Minkowski $\times$ a circle, which has an axion flux to cancel the vacuum pressure in the compact direction. We discover a large diversity of possible solutions controlled by the axion flux, as governed by its boundary conditions. Decoupling and de Sitter Vacua in Approximate No-Scale Supergravities

We study ${\cal N}=1$ supergravity with $N>1$ chiral superfields in which one of the fields has a Kähler potential of exact no-scale type. Such systems admit de Sitter (dS) solutions in which supersymmetry is predominantly broken by the no-scale field, with only a small contribution to the breaking coming from the other fields. New supersymmetric vacua on solvmanifolds

We obtain new supersymmetric flux vacua of type II supergravities on four-dimensional Minkowski times six-dimensional solvmanifolds. The orientifold O4, O5, O6, O7, or O8-planes and D-branes are localized. All vacua are in addition not T-dual to a vacuum on the torus. The corresponding solvmanifolds are proven to be Calabi-Yau, with explicit metrics. Other Ricci flat solvmanifolds are shown to be only Kähler.

Spontaneous N=2 to N=1 Supersymmetry Breaking in Supergravity and Type II String Theory

Using the embedding tensor formalism we give the general conditions for the existence of N=1 vacua in spontaneously broken N=2 supergravities. Our results confirm the necessity of having both electrically and magnetically charged multiplets in the spectrum, but also show that no further constraints on the special Kahler geometry of the vector multiplets arise.
