In the present paper, we study conic-line arrangements having nodes, tacnodes, and ordinary triple points as singularities. We provide combinatorial constraints on such arrangements and we give the complete classification of free arrangements in this class.
In the present paper, we study arrangements of smooth plane conics having only nodes and tacnodes as the singularities. We provide an interesting estimation on the number of nodes and tacnodes that depends only on a linear function of the number of conics. Based on that result, we obtain a new upper bound on the number of tacnodes which turns out to be better than Miyaoka's bound for a large enough number of conics. We also study the freeness and nearly freeness of such arrangements providing a detailed description.
In the present note we provide a partial classification of nearly free conic-line arrangements in the complex plane having nodes, tacnodes, and ordinary triple points. In this setting, our theoretical bound tells us that the degree of such an arrangement is bounded from above by $12$. We construct examples of nearly free conic-line arrangements having degree $3,4,5,6,7$, and we prove that in degree $10$, $11$, and $12$ there is no such arrangement.
The main goal of this note is to begin a systematic study on conic-line arrangements in the complex projective plane. We show a de Bruijn-Erdős-type inequality and Hirzebruch-type inequality for a certain class of conic-line arrangements having ordinary singularities. We will also study, in detail, certain conic-line arrangements in the context of the geography of log-surfaces and free divisors in the sense of Saito.
In this article, examples of Zariski pairs $(B_1, B_2)$ satisfying the following condition are given: (i) $°B_1 = °B_2 = 7$. (ii) Irreducible components of $B_i$ $(i = 1, 2)$ are lines and conics. (iii) Singularities of $B_i$ $(i = 1, 2)$ are nodes, tacnodes and ordinary triple points. In order to construct $B_i$ ($i = 1, 2$), we make use of geometry of sections of rational elliptic surfaces and their group structure. Dihedral covers play important roles to distinguish the topology of $({\mathbb P}^2, B_i)$ $(i = 1, 2)$.

In this paper, we continue the study of the relation between rational points of rational elliptic surfaces and plane curves. As an application, we give first examples of Zariski pairs of cubic-line arrangements that do not involve inflectional tangent lines.
We study the Abel-Jacobi map for bisections of a certain rational elliptic surface. As an application, we construct examples of Zariski $N$-plets for conic arrangements.
In this paper, we study the geometry of trisections on certain rational elliptic surfaces. We utilize Mumford representations of semi-reduced divisors in order to construct trisections and related plane curves with interesting properties explicitly. As a result we are able to construct new examples of Zariski pairs. Especially, we show the existence of a family of Zariski pairs that degenerate to the same conic-line arrangement.
Let $ \mathcal{D} = \{D_{1}, ..., D_{\ell}\} $ be a multi-degree arrangement with normal crossings on the complex projective space $ \mathbf{P}^{n} $, with degrees $ d_{1}, ..., d_{\ell} $; let $ Ω_{\mathbf{P}^{n}}^{1}(\log \mathcal{D}) $ be the logarithmic bundle attached to it. First we prove a Torelli type theorem when $ \mathcal{D} $ has a sufficiently large number of components by recovering them as unstable smooth irreducible degree-$ d_{i} $ hypersurfaces of $ Ω_{\mathbf{P}^{n}}^{1}(\log \mathcal{D}) $. Then, when $ n = 2 $, by describing the moduli spaces containing $ Ω_{\mathbf{P}^{2}…
The purpose of this note is to report, in narrative rather than rigorous style, about the nice geometry of $6$-division points on the Fermat cubic $F$ and various conics naturally attached to them. Most facts presented here were derived by symbolic algebra programs and the idea of the note is to propose a research direction for searching for conceptual proofs of facts stated here and their generalisations. Extensions in several directions seem possible (taking curves of higher degree and contact to $F$, studying higher degree curves passing through higher order division points on $F$, studying…
A central question in the study of line arrangements in the complex projective plane $\mathbb{CP}^2$ is: when does the combinatorial data of the arrangement determine its topological properties? In the present work, we introduce a topological invariant of complexified real line arrangements, the chamber weight. This invariant is based on the weight counting over the points of the arrangement dual configuration, located in particular chambers of the real projective plane $\mathbb{RP}^2$, dealing only with geometrical properties. Using this dual point of view, we construct several examples of co…
