Signature of Non-uniform Area Quantization on Gravitational Waves

Quantum aspects of black holes may have observational imprints on their absorption and emission spectrum. In this work, we consider the possibility of non-uniform area quantization and its effects on the phasing of gravitational waveform from coalescing black hole inspirals. These observations may provide detectable effects distinct from that of a uniform area quantization and allow us to put bounds on various parameters of the underlying model. Our work can also be regarded as a novel test for the area-entropy proportionality of black hole solutions in general relativity.

Signatures of the Quantization of Gravity at Gravitational Wave Detectors

We develop a formalism to calculate the response of a model gravitational wave detector to a quantized gravitational field. Coupling a detector to a quantum field induces stochastic fluctuations ("noise") in the length of the detector arm. The statistical properties of this noise depend on the choice of quantum state of the gravitational field. We characterize the noise for vacuum, coherent, thermal, and squeezed states. Hamiltonian quantization of General Relativity with the change of signature

We show in this article how the usual hamiltonian formalism of General Relativity should be modified in order to allow the inclusion of the Euclidean classical solutions of Einstein's equations. Uniqueness of the Fock quantization of scalar fields and processes with signature change in cosmology

We study scalar fields subject to an equation of the Klein-Gordon type in nonstationary spacetimes, such as those found in cosmology, assuming that all the relevant spatial dependence is contained in the Laplacian. Square Root Actions, Metric Signature, and the Path-Integral of Quantum Gravity

We consider quantization of the Baierlein-Sharp-Wheeler form of the gravitational action, in which the lapse function is determined from the Hamiltonian constraint. This action has a square root form, analogous to the actions of the relativistic particle and Nambu string. Uniform discretizations: a quantization procedure for totally constrained systems including gravity

We present a new method for the quantization of totally constrained systems including general relativity. The method consists in constructing discretized theories that have a well defined and controlled continuum limit. The discrete theories are constraint-free and can be readily quantized. This provides a framework where one can introduce a relational notion of time and that nevertheless approximates in a well defined fashion the theory of interest. Uniform discretizations: a new approach for the quantization of totally constrained systems

We discuss in detail the uniform discretization approach to the quantization of totally constrained theories. This approach allows to construct the continuum theory of interest as a well defined, controlled, limit of well behaved discrete theories. We provide a detailed comparison of the different approaches available for the quantization of a totally constrained system with a constraint algebra generating the non-compact $SL(2,\mathbb{R})$ group. Black Holes: Classical Properties, Thermodynamics and Heuristic Quantization

I discuss the no hair principle, the recently found hairy solutions, generic properties of nonvacuum spherical static black holes, and the new no scalar hair theorems.
