The numerous compact sources associated with neutron stars and white dwarfs discovered in recent decades are analyzed in terms of the Gravimagnetic Rotator model (GMR paradigm - Lipunov, 1987a; Lipunov, 1992). We offer the instrument for understanding of various observed features and evolutionary relationships of neutron stars and white dwarfs. We depict in a single diagram all objects from radio pulsars and dwarf novae to ultra luminous X-ray sources and a radio pulsating white dwarf. This diagram directly demonstrates the genetic link between different types of compact sources thereby making it possible to confirm and illustrate clearly the established evolutionary connections - such as that between bulge X-ray sources and millisecond pulsars. This approach allows us to understand the evolutionary status of Ultra Luminous X-ray sources. In addition, we propose an additional evolutionary branch of the formation of Magnetars. When our work was completed, an article by Kirsten et al.2021, was published, which reports the localization of FRB 20200120 in one of the globular clusters of the galaxy M81. This shows that the accretion-induced collapse scenario of the white dwarf (Lipunov and Postnov, 1985), considered in detail in this work, is a possible genealogical branch of Magnetar production.
Several recently discovered peculiar type Ia supernovae seem to demand an altogether new formation theory that might help explain the puzzling dissimilarities between them and the standard type Ia supernovae. The most striking aspect of the observational analysis is the necessity of invoking super-Chandrasekhar white dwarfs having masses ~ 2.1-2.8M_sun, M_sun being the mass of Sun, as their most probable progenitors. Strongly magnetized white dwarfs having super-Chandrasekhar masses were already established to be potential candidates for the progenitors of peculiar type Ia supernovae. Owing to…
We report the effects of quark-hadron phase transition on the structures of general relativistic stars with purely toroidal magnetic field. For the mixed phase, we take into account of the finite-size effects, which lead to non-uniform "Pasta" structures. Our study is based on axisymetric and stationary formalism including purely toroidal magnetic field. For hybrid stars, we find the characteristic distribution of magnetic field, which has a discontinuity originated in the quark-hadron mixed phase. These distributions of magnetic field will change astrophysical phenomena, such as cooling proce…
Dwarf novæ (DNe) and low mass X-ray binaries (LMXBs) are compact binaries showing variability on time scales from years to less than seconds. Here, we focus on explaining part of the rapid fluctuations in DNe, following the framework of recent studies on the monthly eruptions of DNe that use a hybrid disk composed of an outer standard disk and an inner magnetized disk. We show that the ionization instability, that is responsible for the monthly eruptions of DNe, is also able to operate in the inner magnetized disk. Given the low density and the fast accretion time scale of the inner magnetized…
Binary systems of compact objects with electromagnetic field are modeled by helically symmetric Einstein-Maxwell spacetimes with charged and magnetized perfect fluids. Previously derived thermodynamic laws for helically-symmetric perfect-fluid spacetimes are extended to include the electromagnetic fields, and electric currents and charges; the first law is written as a relation between the change in the asymptotic Noether charge $\dl Q$ and the changes in the area and electric charge of black holes, and in the vorticity, baryon rest mass, entropy, charge and magnetic flux of the magnetized flu…
Transport properties of dense quark matter are discussed in the strong magnetic field, B. B dependence as well as density dependence of the Hall conductivity is discussed in the inhomogeneous chiral phase. Anomalous Hall effect is intrinsic to the inhomogeneous chiral phase and resembles the one in Weyl semimetals in condensed matter physics. Some theoretical aspects inherent in anomalous Hall effect are revealed.
The effect of magnetic fields in the Equations of State (EoS) of compact objects is the splitting of the pressure in two components, one parallel and the other perpendicular to the magnetic field. This anisotropy suggests the necessity of using structure equations considering the axial symmetry of the magnetized system. In this work, we consider an axially symmetric metric in spherical coordinates, the $γ$-metric, and construct a system of equations to describe the structure of spheroidal compact objects. In addition, we connect the geometrical parameter $γ$ linked to the spheroid's radii, wit…
We study magnetic field effects on the Equations of State (EoS) and the structure of Bose-Einstein Condensate (BEC) stars, i.e. a compact object composed by a gas of interacting spin one bosons formed up by the pairing of two neutrons. To include the magnetic field in the thermodynamic description, we suppose that particle-magnetic field and particle-particle interactions are independent. We consider two configurations for the magnetic field: one where it constant and externally fixed, and another where it is produced by the bosons by self-magnetization. Since the magnetic field produces the s…
I present modeling of the X-ray pulsations from the central compact object (CCO) PSR J1852+0040 in the Galactic supernova remnant Kesteven 79. In the context of thermal surface radiation from a rotating neutron star, a conventional polar cap model can reproduce the broad, large-amplitude X-ray pulse only with a "pencil plus fan" beam emission pattern, which is characteristic of strongly magnetized ($\gtrsim$10^12 Gauss) neutron star atmospheres, substantially stronger than the ~10^10 Gauss external dipole field inferred from the pulsar spin-down rate. This discrepancy can be explained by an ax…
We report work towards a relativistic formulation for modeling strongly magnetized neutron stars, rotating or in a close circular orbit around another neutron star or black hole, under the approximations of helical symmetry and ideal MHD. The quasi-stationary evolution is governed by the first law of thermodynamics for helically symmetric systems, which is generalized to include magnetic fields. The formulation involves an iterative scheme for solving the Einstein-Maxwell and relativistic MHD-Euler equations numerically. The resulting configurations for binary systems could be used as self-con…
The stability of the color flavor locked phase in the presence of a strong magnetic field is investigated within the phenomenological MIT bag model, taking into account the variation of the strange quark mass, the baryon density, the magnetic field, as well as the bag and gap parameters. It is found that the minimum value of the energy per baryon in a color flavor locked state at vanishing pressure is lower than the corresponding one for unpaired magnetized strange quark matter and, as the magnetic field increases, the energy per baryon decreases. This implies that magnetized color flavor lock…
A new code for computing fully general relativistic solutions of strongly magnetized rapidly rotating compact stars is developed as a part of the COCAL (Compact Object CALculator) code. The full set of Einstein's equations, Maxwell's equations and magnetohydrodynamic equations are consistently solved assuming perfect conductivity, stationarity, and axisymmetry, and strongly magnetized solutions associated with mixed poloidal and toroidal components of magnetic fields are successfully obtained in generic (non-circular) spacetimes. We introduce the formulation of the problem and the numerical me…
We study the propagation of neutrinos from compact astrophysical objects with strong magnetic field, such as magnetars. Both neutrino spin rotation and oscillations in a realistic three-flavor model are taken into account. We solve the neutrino evolution equation in the magnetic field near the object and obtain the probabilities of all possible spin-flavor transitions. Assuming that neutrinos are produced in the interior of the star being in their left-handed state with electron flavor, we use these spin-flavor transition probabilities to estimate the fraction of neutrinos, which change their …
We present a novel numerical scheme for simulating the motion of relativistic charged particles in magnetospheres of compact objects, typically filled with highly magnetized collisionless plasmas. The new algorithm is based on a dynamic switch between the full system of equations of motion and a guiding center approximation. The switch between the two formulations is based on the magnetization of the plasma particles, such that the dynamics are accurately captured by the guiding center motion even when the gyro-frequency is under-resolved by the time step. For particles with a large gyro-radiu…

This paper studied the relativistic accretion thick disc model raised by a deformed compact object that slightly deviated from spherical up to the quadrupole moment by utilising $\rm q$-metric. This metric is the simplest asymptotically flat solution of Einstein's equation with quadrupole moment. This work aims to study the effects of quadrupole moments in combination with the parameters of the thick magnetised disc model via studying the properties of these equilibrium sequences of magnetised, non-self-gravitating discs in this space-time. We employed different angular momentum distributions …
We find the forms of the transfer equations for polarized cyclotron radiation in the atmospheres of compact stars, which are simple enough to allow practical implementation and still preserve all important physical effects. We take into account a frequency redistribution of radiation within the cyclotron line as well as the relativistic and quantum-electrodynamic effects. Our analysis is valid for the magnetic fields up to $10^{13}$G and for temperatures well below 500keV.} We present and compare two forms of the radiation transfer equations. The first form, for the intensities of ordinary and…
We present results from three-dimensional ideal magnetohydrodynamic simulations of low $β$ compact toroid (CT) injection into a hot strongly magnetized plasma, with the aim of providing insight into CT fueling of a tokamak with parameters relevant for ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor). A regime is identified in terms of CT injection speed and CT-to-background magnetic field ratio that appears promising for precise core fueling. Shock-dominated regimes, which are probably unfavorable for tokamak fueling, are also identified. The CT penetration depth is proportional to the …
Accretion onto black holes and compact stars brings material in a zone of strong gravitational and electromagnetic fields. We study dynamical properties of motion of electrically charged particles forming a highly diluted medium (a corona) in the regime of strong gravity and large-scale (ordered) magnetic field. We start our work from a system that allows regular motion, then we focus on the onset of chaos. To this end, we investigate the case of a rotating black hole immersed in a weak, asymptotically uniform magnetic field. We also consider a magnetic star, approximated by the Schwarzschild …
Neutrino-cooled accretion flow around a spinning black hole, produced by a compact binary merger is a promising scenario for jet formation and launching magnetically-driven outflows. Based on GW170817 gravitational wave detection by LIGO and Virgo observatories followed by electromagnetic counterparts, this model can explain the central engine of the short duration gamma ray bursts (GRB) and kilonova radiations. Using the open-source GRMHD HARM-COOL code, we evolved several 2D magnetized accretion disk-black hole models with realistic equation of state in the fixed curved space-time background…
We analyze a class of physical properties, forming the content of the so-called von Zeipel theorem, which characterizes stationary, axisymmetric, non-selfgravitating perfect fluids in circular motion in the gravitational field of a compact object. We consider the extension of the theorem to the magnetohydrodynamic regime, under the assumption of an infinitely conductive fluid, both in the Newtonian and in the relativistic framework. When the magnetic field is toroidal, the conditions required by the theorem are equivalent to integrability conditions, as it is the case for purely hydrodynamic f…
Highly magnetized neutron stars are promising candidates to explain some of the most peculiar astronomical phenomena, for instance, fast radio bursts, gamma-ray bursts, and superluminous supernovae. Pulsations of these highly magnetized neutron stars are also speculated to produce detectable gravitational waves. In addition, pulsations are important probes of the structure and equation of state of the neutron stars. The major challenge in studying the pulsations of highly magnetized neutron stars is the demanding numerical cost of consistently solving the nonlinear Einstein and Maxwell equatio…
Dwarf novae (DNe) and low mass X-ray binaries (LMXBs) show eruptions that are thought to be due to a thermal-viscous instability in their accretion disk. These eruptions provide constraints on angular momentum transport mechanisms. We explore the idea that angular momentum transport could be controlled by the dynamical evolution of the large scale magnetic field. We study the impact of different prescriptions for the magnetic field evolution on the dynamics of the disk. This is a first step in confronting the theory of magnetic field transport with observations. We develop a version of the dis…
Off-equatorial circular orbits with constant latitudes (halo orbits) of electrically charged particles exist near compact objects. In the previous paper, we discussed this kind of motion and demonstrated the existence of minima of the two-dimensional effective potential which correspond to the stable halo orbits. Here, we relax previous assumptions of the pseudo-Newtonian approach for the gravitational field of the central body and study properties of the halo orbits in detail. Within the general relativistic approach, we carry out our calculations in two cases. Firstly, we examine the case of…
We sketch a possible evolutionary scenario by which a highly magnetized super-Chandrasekhar white dwarf could be formed by accretion on to a commonly observed magnetized white dwarf. This is an exploratory study, when the physics in cataclysmic variables (CVs) is very rich and complex. Based on this, we also explore the possibility that the white dwarf pulsar AR Sco acquired its high spin and magnetic field due to repeated episodes of accretion and spin-down. We show that strong magnetic field dramatically decreases luminosity of highly magnetized white dwarf (B-WD), letting them below the cur…
The enigmatic X-ray emission from the bright optical star, $γ$ Cassiopeia, is a long-standing problem. $γ$ Cas is known to be a binary system consisting of a Be-type star and a low-mass ($M\sim 1\,M_\odot$) companion of unknown nature orbiting in the Be-disk plane. Here we apply the quasi-spherical accretion theory onto a compact magnetized star and show that if the low-mass companion of $γ$ Cas is a fast spinning neutron star, the key observational signatures of $γ$ Cas are remarkably well reproduced. Direct accretion onto this fast rotating neutron star is impeded by the propeller mechanism.…
In this work, we simulate $γ$-rays created in the hadronic jets of the compact object in binary stellar systems known as microquasars. We utilize as main computational tool the $3$-D relativistic magneto-hydro-dynamical code PLUTO combined with in house derived codes. Our simulated experiments refer to the SS433 X-ray binary, a stellar system in which hadronic jets have been observed. We examine two new model configurations that employ hadron-based emission mechanisms. The simulations aim to explore the dependence of the $γ$-ray emissions on the dynamical as well as the radiative properties of…
The central engine of Gamma Ray Bursts is hidden from direct probing with photons mainly due to the high densities involved. Inferences on their properties are thus made from their cosmological setting, energetics, low-energy counterparts and variability. If GRBs are powered by hypercritical accretion onto compact objects, on small spatial scales the flow will exhibit fluctuations, which could in principle be reflected in the power output of the central engine and ultimately in the high energy prompt emission. Here we address this issue by characterizing the variability in neutrino cooled accr…
Extremely magnetized neutron stars with magnetic fields as strong as $\sim 10^{15-16}$ G, or magnetars, have received considerable attention in the last decade due to their identification as a plausible source for Soft Gamma Repeaters and Anomalous X-ray Pulsars. Moreover, this class of compact objects has been proposed as a possible engine capable of powering both Long and Short Gamma-Ray Bursts, if the rotation period in their formation stage is short enough (~1 ms). Such strong fields are expected to induce substantial deformations of the star and thus to produce the emission of gravitation…
It is known that a binary neutron star merger produces a hypermassive neutron star. The lifetime of this compact remnant depends on the total mass and the equation of state. The collapse of this compact remnant to a black- hole-torus system is expected to give rise to a powerful jet and a short gamma-ray burst. Nevertheless, if the collapse is delayed half a second or so, the surrounding matter would be already accreted and/or expelled and hence no torus will be formed. However, the collapse itself will give rise to a quasi-isotropic magnetized fireball. This magnetic bomb will dissipate much …
Central compact objects (CCOs) constitute a population of radio-quiet, slowly-spinning ($\ge$100 ms) young neutron stars with anomalously high thermal X-ray luminosities. Their spin-down properties imply weak dipole magnetic fields ($\sim$$10^{10-11}$ G) and characteristic ages much greater than the ages of their host supernova remnants (SNRs). However, CCOs may possess strong "hidden" internal magnetic fields that may re-emerge on timescales $\gtrsim$10 kyr, with the neutron star possibly activating as a radio pulsar in the process. This suggests that the immediate descendants of CCOs may be …
The most recent detections of LIGO/Virgo and NICER have placed strong constraints on neutron stars' properties. In this work, we study neutron stars modeling them as hybrid stars, compact objects with a quark matter core surrounded by layers of hadronic matter. In addition, we consider the presence of strong magnetic fields, motivated by magnetars detection, like the recently discovered Swift J1818.0-1607. We incorporate the effects of the anomalous magnetic moment of the constituent particles into the equation of state of dense matter and analyze the implications of different hadron-quark pha…
This thesis focuses on the study of the hyperaccreting neutron-star disks and magnetized accretion flows. It is usually proposed that hyperaccreting disks surrounding stellar-mass black holes with a huge accretion rate are central engines of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). However, hyperaccretion disks around neutron stars may exist in some GRB formation scenarios. We study the structure and neutrino emission of a hyperaccretion disk around a neutron star. We consider a steady-state hyperaccretion disk, and as a reasonable approximation, divide it into two regions, the inner and outer disks. The oute…
The main objective of this work is to study the structure, composition, and oscillation modes of color superconducting quark stars with intense magnetic fields. We adopted the MIT bag model within the color superconductivity CFL framework, and we included the effects of strong magnetic fields to construct the equation of state of stable quark matter. We calculated observable quantities, such as the mass, radius, frequency, and damping time of the oscillation fundamental $f$ mode of quark stars, taking into account current astrophysical constraints. The results obtained show that color supercon…

Magnetic fields play a crucial role in many astrophysical scenarios and, in particular, are of paramount importance in the emission mechanism and evolution of Neutron Stars (NSs). To understand the role of the magnetic field in compact objects it is important to obtain, as a first step, accurate equilibrium models for magnetized NSs. Using the conformally flat approximation we solve the Einstein's equations together with the GRMHD equations in the case of a static axisymmetryc NS taking into account different types of magnetic configuration. This allows us to investigate the effect of the magn…
Over the past several years, there has been enormous interest in massive neutron stars and white dwarfs due to either their direct or indirect evidence. The recent detection of gravitational wave event GW190814 has confirmed the existence of compact stars with masses as high as $\sim2.5-2.67M_{\odot}$ within the so-called mass gap, indicating the existence of highly massive neutron stars. One of the primary goals to invoke massive compact objects was to explain the recent detections of over a dozen Type Ia supernovae, whose peculiarity lies with their unusual light curve, in particular the hig…
Recent detection of gravitational wave from nine black hole merger events and one neutron star merger event by LIGO and VIRGO shed a new light in the field of astrophysics. On the other hand, in the past decade, a few super-Chandrasekhar white dwarf candidates have been inferred through the peak luminosity of the light-curves of a few peculiar type Ia supernovae, though there is no direct detection of these objects so far. Similarly, a number of neutron stars with mass $>2M_\odot$ have also been observed. Continuous gravitational wave can be one of the alternate ways to detect these compact ob…
We remind that the ring down features observed in the LIGO GWs resulted from trembling of photon spheres (Rp=3M) of newly formed compact objects and not from the trembling of their event horizons (R=2M). Further, the tentative evidences for late time echoes in GWs might be signatures of horizonless compact objects rather than vacuum black holes (BHs). Similarly, even for an ideal BH, the radius of its shadow is R_shad = \sqrt{3}Rp is actually the gravitationally lensed shadow of its photon sphere. Accordingly any compact object having R \geq R = 3M would generate similar shadow. Thus, no obser…
Magnetic fields play a critical role in the phenomenology of neutron stars. There is virtually no observable aspect which is not governed by them. Despite this, only recently efforts have been done to model magnetic fields in the correct general relativistic regime, characteristic of these compact objects. In this work we present, for the first time a comprehensive and detailed parameter study, in general relativity, of the role that the current distribution, and the related magnetic field structure, have in determining the precise structure of neutron stars. In particular, we show how the pre…
We investigate the merger of a neutron star (of compaction ratio $0.1$) in orbit about a spinning black hole in full general relativity with a mass ratio of $5:1$, allowing for the star to have an initial magnetization of $10^{12} {\rm Gauss}$. We present the resulting gravitational waveform and analyze the fallback accretion as the star is disrupted. The evolutions suggest no significant effects from the initial magnetization. We find that only a negligible amount of matter becomes unbound; $99%$ of the neutron star material has a fallback time of 10 seconds or shorter to reach the region of …
