Pansharpening is a fundamental issue in remote sensing field. This paper proposes a side information partially guided convolutional sparse coding (SCSC) model for pansharpening. The key idea is to split the low resolution multispectral image into a panchromatic image related feature map and a panchromatic image irrelated feature map, where the former one is regularized by the side information from panchromatic images. With the principle of algorithm unrolling techniques, the proposed model is generalized as a deep neural network, called as SCSC pansharpening neural network (SCSC-PNN). Compared with 13 classic and state-of-the-art methods on three satellites, the numerical experiments show that SCSC-PNN is superior to others. The codes are available at https://github.com/xsxjtu/SCSC-PNN.

Recently, deep learning techniques have been extensively studied for pansharpening, which aims to generate a high resolution multispectral (HRMS) image by fusing a low resolution multispectral (LRMS) image with a high resolution panchromatic (PAN) image. However, existing deep learning-based pansharpening methods directly learn the mapping from LRMS and PAN to HRMS. These network architectures always lack sufficient interpretability, which limits further performance improvements. To alleviate this issue, we propose a novel deep network for pansharpening by combining the model-based methodology…

Blind pansharpening addresses the problem of generating a high spatial-resolution multi-spectral (HRMS) image given a low spatial-resolution multi-spectral (LRMS) image with the guidance of its associated spatially misaligned high spatial-resolution panchromatic (PAN) image without parametric side information. In this paper, we propose a fast approach to blind pansharpening and achieve state-of-the-art image reconstruction quality. Typical blind pansharpening algorithms are often computationally intensive since the blur kernel and the target HRMS image are often computed using iterative solver…

The fusion of input and guidance images that have a tradeoff in their information (e.g., hyperspectral and RGB image fusion or pansharpening) can be interpreted as one general problem. However, previous studies applied a task-specific handcrafted prior and did not address the problems with a unified approach. To address this limitation, in this study, we propose a guided deep decoder network as a general prior. The proposed network is composed of an encoder-decoder network that exploits multi-scale features of a guidance image and a deep decoder network that generates an output image. The two …
In this paper, we study a new problem arising from the emerging MPEG standardization effort Video Coding for Machine (VCM), which aims to bridge the gap between visual feature compression and classical video coding. VCM is committed to address the requirement of compact signal representation for both machine and human vision in a more or less scalable way. To this end, we make endeavors in leveraging the strength of predictive and generative models to support advanced compression techniques for both machine and human vision tasks simultaneously, in which visual features serve as a bridge to co…

In this paper, we propose a new multimodal image denoising approach to attenuate white Gaussian additive noise in a given image modality under the aid of a guidance image modality. The proposed coupled image denoising approach consists of two stages: coupled sparse coding and reconstruction. The first stage performs joint sparse transform for multimodal images with respect to a group of learned coupled dictionaries, followed by a shrinkage operation on the sparse representations. Then, in the second stage, the shrunken representations, together with coupled dictionaries, contribute to the reco…

Medical imaging tasks often involve multiple contrasts, such as T1- and T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data. These contrasts capture information associated with the same underlying anatomy and thus exhibit similarities. In this paper, we propose a Coupled Dictionary Learning based multi-contrast MRI reconstruction (CDLMRI) approach to leverage an available guidance contrast to restore the target contrast. Our approach consists of three stages: coupled dictionary learning, coupled sparse denoising, and $k$-space consistency enforcing. The first stage learns a group of dictionaries…

Recent deep-learning-based video compression methods brought coding gains over conventional codecs such as AVC and HEVC. However, learning-based codecs generally require considerable computation time and model complexity. In this paper, we propose a new lightweight hybrid video codec consisting of a conventional video codec(HEVC / VVC), a lossless image codec, and our new restoration network. Precisely, our encoder consists of the conventional video encoder and a lossless image encoder, transmitting a lossy-compressed video bitstream along with a losslessly-compressed reference frame. The deco…
