The Standard Model Neutrino Effective Field Theory (SMNEFT) is the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) augmented with right-handed neutrinos. Building on our previous work, arXiv:2010.12109, we calculate the Yukawa coupling contributions to the one-loop anomalous dimension matrix for the 11 dimension-six four-fermion SMNEFT operators. We also present the new contributions to the anomalous dimension matrix for the 14 four-fermion SMEFT operators that mix with the SMNEFT operators through the Yukawa couplings of the right-handed neutrinos.
Standard Model Neutrino Effective Field Theory (SMNEFT) is an effective theory with Standard Model (SM) gauge-invariant operators constructed only from SM and right-handed neutrino fields. For the full set of dimension-six SMNEFT operators, we present the gauge coupling terms of the one-loop anomalous dimension matrix for renormalization group evolution (RGE) of the Wilson coefficients between a new physics scale and the electroweak scale. We find that the SMNEFT operators can be divided into five subsets which are closed under RGE. Our results apply for both Dirac and Majorana neutrinos. We a…
We constrain general Dirac neutrino interactions based on the Standard Model Effective Field Theory framework extended with right-handed neutrinos $N$ (SMNEFT) using deep inelastic and coherent elastic neutrino scattering, nuclear beta decay, and meson decay data, and high energy electron-proton and proton-proton collider data. We compute the one-loop anomalous dimensions of the low-energy effective field theory (LEFT) below the electroweak scale and of SMNEFT above the electroweak scale. The tree-level matching between LEFT and SMNEFT is performed at the electroweak scale. Currently, the most…
In some extensions of the Standard Model, Yukawa couplings of the physical Higgs boson can be deviated from those in the Standard Model. We study a possibility whether or not such anomalous Yukawa couplings are consistent with the LHC Run 1 data. It is found that sizable deviations of top and bottom (and tau) Yukawa couplings from the Standard Model predictions can nicely fit the data. New physics beyond the Standard Model can be revealed through more precise measurements of such anomalous Yukawa couplings at the LHC Run 2 in the near future. We also discuss a simple setup which can leads to a…
Unitarity constraints on anomalous top-Higgs couplings are examined. We also compare the unitarity constraints with the constraints from electroweak baryogenesis and electric dipole moments derived earlier.
Very recently, the CMS collaboration has reported a search for the production for a Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson in association with a top quark pair ($t bar{t} H$) at the LHC Run-2 and a best fit $t bar{t} H$ yield of $1.5 pm 0.5$ times the SM prediction with an observed significance of $3.3 sigma$. We study a possibility of whether or not this observed deviation can be explained by anomalous Higgs Yukawa couplings with the top and the bottom quarks, along with the LHC Run-1 data for the Higgs boson properties. We find that anomalous top and bottom Yukawa couplings with about $0-20$% and $…
We present a supersymmetric standard model with three gauged Abelian symmetries, of a type commonly found in superstrings. One is anomalous, the other two are $E_6$ family symmetries. It has a vacuum in which only these symmetries are broken by stringy effects. It reproduces all observed quark and charged lepton Yukawa hierarchies, and the value of the Weinberg angle. It predicts three massive neutrinos, with mixing that can explain both the small angle MSW effect, and the atmospheric neutrino anomaly. The Cabibbo angle is expressed in terms of the gauge couplings at unification. It conserves …
In the standard model, the Higgs boson $h$ couples to the quarks and charged leptons according to the well-known formula $(m_ψ/v) h \barψψ$, where $ψ$ = quark (q) or lepton (l) and $v$ = 246 GeV is its vacuum expectation value. Suppose $m_ψ$ is of radiative origin instead, then the effective $h \barψψ$ Yukawa coupling will not be exactly $m_ψ/v$. We show for the first time quantitatively how this may shift the observed branching fraction of $h \to \bar{b}b$ and $h \to τ^+ τ^-$ upward or downward. Thus the precision measurements of Higgs decay to fermions at the Large Hadron Collider, due to re…
The observed hierarchy of quark and lepton masses and mixings may be obtained by adding an abelian family symmetry to the Minimal Supersymmetric Model and coupling quarks and leptons to an electroweak singlet scalar field. In a large class of such models, this symmetry suffers from anomalies which must be compensated by the Green-Schwarz mechanism; this in turn fixes the electroweak mixing angle to be $\sin^2 θ_W = 3/8$ at the string scale, without any assumed GUT structure. The analysis is extended to two distinct generalisations of the Standard Model: neutrino masses and mixings and R-parity…
Within the covariant formulation of light-front dynamics, we calculate the state vector of a fermion coupled to identical scalar bosons (the Yukawa model). The state vector is decomposed in Fock sectors and we consider the first three ones: a single fermion, a fermion coupled to one boson, and a fermion coupled to two bosons. This last three-body sector generates nontrivial and nonperturbative contributions to the state vector, and these contributions are calculated with no approximations. The divergences of the amplitudes are regularized using Pauli-Villars fermion and boson fields. Physical …
We have presented a detailed study about the prospects for the measurement of the top Yukawa coupling in the vector boson fusion (VBF) production of a top quark pair at high energy muon colliders. By employing the effective $W$ approximation and the high energy limit for the helicity amplitudes of the subprocess $W^+ W^- \rightarrow t \bar t$, we have derived the energy scaling of the statistical signal significance in the presence of the anomalous couplings. The sensitivity on the top Yukawa coupling decreases as the bin energy increases. For the anomalous triple gauge boson couplings and the…
In this paper, we study the anomalous flavor changing neutral current Yukawa interactions between the top quark, the Higgs boson, and either an up or charm quark ($\rm tqH, q=u, c$). We probe these couplings in $\rm e^- p\rightarrow ν_e \bar{t} \rightarrow ν_e H \bar{q}$ and the channel $\rm e^- p \rightarrow ν_e H b$. Both channels are induced by charged current interactions through $\rm e^- p$ collision at the Large Hadron Electron Collider(LHeC). We study the signatures with the Higgs decay modes $\rm H\rightarrow γγ, b\bar{b}$ and $τ^+τ^-$. Our results show that the flavor changing couplin…
We calculate the complete order y^2 and y^4 terms of the 59 x 59 one-loop anomalous dimension matrix for the dimension-six operators of the Standard Model effective field theory, where y is a generic Yukawa coupling. These terms, together with the terms of order lambda, lambda^2 and lambda y^2 depending on the Standard Model Higgs self-coupling lambda which were calculated in a previous work, yield the complete one-loop anomalous dimension matrix in the limit of vanishing gauge couplings. The Yukawa contributions result in non-trivial flavor mixing in the various operator sectors of the Standa…
We discuss anomalous Higgs interactions in the scenario of gauge-Higgs unification. In the scenario Higgs originates from higher dimensional gauge field and has a physical meaning as AB phase or Wilson loop. As its inevitable consequence, physical observables are expected to be periodic in the Higgs field. In particular, the Yukawa coupling is expected to show some periodic and non-linear behavior as the function of the Higgs VEV. For a specific choice of the VEV, the Yukawa coupling of KK zero mode fermion even vanishes. On the other hand, the Yukawa coupling is originally provided by gauge i…
Measurement of the top-Yukawa coupling is important to understand the fermion mass generation mechanism and dynamics of electroweak symmetry breaking. We discuss the top quark anomalous couplings which can be described by higher dimensional operators. We investigate the process $e^-e^+ \to W^-W^+ν\barν\to t \bar t ν\barν$ to study the contribution of the anomalous top-Higgs coupling to the cross section. The effect of the dimension-six top-Higgs interaction on the cross section can be a few hundred percent greater than the SM prediction. Such a large effect can be measured at the International…
About 3 sigma deviation from the standard model prediction of muon anomalous magnetic moment (muon g-2) has been reported. We consider new physics beyond the standard model which has new Yukawa interactions with muon. We compute new contributions to muon g-2 and corrections to electroweak observables, and show the consistent region of parameter space. We find that in a simple model where the chirality flip of muon occurs only in the external muon line in one-loop muon g-2 diagrams, it is necessary to introduce the relatively large new Yukawa coupling and the electroweak scale new particles. On…
We study the anomalous muon and electron magnetic moments by introducing a scalar with CP-violating Yukawa couplings to the lepton sector. By fitting these two magnetic moments with the recent experimental measurements, we find that such a leptophilic scalar in the mass range of $\mathcal{O}(10)- \mathcal{O}(1000 )\,\rm GeV$ can be a possible source for the current experimental deviations from the Standard Model (SM) predictions, with $\mathcal{O}(0.1) - \mathcal{O}(1)$ Yukawa couplings. The current electron and muon EDM constraints to the general CP-violating Yukawa couplings are discussed. W…
The muon anomalous magnetic moment is investigated in the standard model with two Higgs doublets (S2HDM) motivated from spontaneous CP violation. Thus all the effective Yukawa couplings become complex. As a consequence of the non-zero phase in the couplings, the one loop contribution from the neutral scalar bosons could be positive and negative relying on the CP phases. The interference between one and two loop diagrams can be constructive in a large parameter space of CP-phases. This will result in a significant contribution to muon anomalous magnetic moment even in the flavor conserving proc…
Within the framework of QCD we compute renormalization constants for the strong coupling and the quark masses to four-loop order. We apply the DR-bar scheme and put special emphasis on the additional couplings which have to be taken into account. This concerns the epsilon-scalar--quark Yukawa coupling as well as the vertex containing four epsilon-scalars. For a supersymmetric Yang Mills theory, we find, in contrast to a previous claim, that the evanescent Yukawa coupling equals the strong coupling constant through three loops as required by supersymmetry.
The construction of a Supersymmetric Grand Unified Model based on the Pati-Salam gauge group is briefly reviewed and the low energy consequences of the derived asymptotic Yukawa quasi-unification conditions are examined. In the framework of the resulting Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, the cosmological relic density of the bino-like LSP is calculated and the results are explicitly compared with {\tt micrOMEGAs}. In addition to the Cold Dark Matter constraint, restrictions on the parameter space, arising from the Higgs boson masses, the SUSY corrections to $b$-quark mass, the…
Within the covariant formulation of light-front dynamics, we calculate the state vector of a physical fermion in the Yukawa model. The state vector is decomposed in Fock sectors and we consider the first three ones: the single constituent fermion, the constituent fermion coupled to one scalar boson, and the constituent fermion coupled to two scalar bosons. This last three-body sector generates nontrivial and nonperturbative contributions to the state vector, which are calculated numerically. Field-theoretical divergences are regularized using Pauli-Villars fermion and boson fields. Physical ob…
We study the interplay between a soft muon Yukawa coupling generated radiatively with the trilinear A-terms of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) and the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. In the absence of a tree-level muon Yukawa coupling the lightest smuon mass is predicted to be in the range between 750 GeV and 2700 GeV at 2 sigma, if the bino mass M_1 is below 1 TeV. Therefore, a detection of a smuon (in conjunction with a sub-TeV bino) at the LHC would directly imply a non-zero muon Yukawa coupling in the MSSM superpotential. Inclusion of slepton flavor mixing could in …
We report on a preferred region of supersymmetric parameter space by t, b, tau Yukawa unification. We find a narrow region survives for mu > 0 (suggested by b --> s gamma and the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon) with A_0 \sim - 2 m_{16}, m_{16} > 1200 GeV, mu, M_{1/2} << m_{16} and tan β\sim 50 \pm 2. Demanding Yukawa unification thus makes definite predictions for Higgs and sparticle masses.
We consider the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model which emerges from one theory with a small deviation from Yukawa unification which is adequate for $μ>0$. We show that this model possesses a wide and natural range of parameters which is consistent with the data on $b\to sγ$, the muon anomalous magnetic moment, the cold dark matter abundance in the universe, and the Higgs boson masses.
Three-loop renormalization group equations for the Higgs self-coupling and Higgs mass parameter are recalculated in the case of complex Yukawa matrices, which encompass general flavour structure of the Standard Model. In addition, the anomalous dimensions both for the quantum Higgs field and its vacuum expectation value are presented in the $\overline{MS}$-scheme. A numerical study of the latter quantities is carried out for a certain set of initial parameters.
Top quark with its large Yukawa coupling is crucially important to explore TeV scale physics. Therefore, the study of Higgs-top sector is highly motivated to look for any deviations from the standard model predictions. The most general lowest order Lagrangian for the Higgs-top Yukawa coupling has scalar ($κ$) and pseudoscalar ($\tildeκ$) components. Currently, these couplings are constrained indirectly using the present experimental limits on the Higgs-$γ$-$γ$ and Higgs-gluon-gluon couplings. Furthermore, stronger bounds on $κ$ and $\tildeκ$ are obtained using the limits on the electric dipole…
Electric dipole moments are sensitive probes of new phases in the Higgs Yukawa couplings. We calculate the complete two-loop QCD anomalous dimension matrix for the mixing of CP-odd scalar and tensor operators and apply our results for a phenomenological study of CP violation in the bottom and charm Yukawa couplings. We find large shifts of the induced Wilson coefficients at next-to-leading-logarithmic order. Using the experimental bound on the electric dipole moment of the neutron, we update the constraints on CP-violating phases in the bottom and charm quark Yukawas.
The renormalization group equations (RGEs) in Standard Model effective theory are usually either solved analytically, neglecting the scale dependence of gauge and Yukawa couplings, or numerically without such approximations. We present analytic solutions of RGEs that take into account the dominant scale dependence of the anomalous-dimension matrix due to the running of the QCD coupling and of the top-Yukawa coupling. We consider first the case for which a given operator is generated directly through mixing with the parent operator whose Wilson coefficient is non-vanishing at the new physics sc…
Although recent data on the muon anomalous magnetic moment strongly disfavor the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model with mu<0, they cannot exclude it because of theoretical ambiguities. We consider this model supplemented by a Yukawa quasi-unification condition which allows an acceptable b-quark mass. We find that the cosmological upper bound on the lightest sparticle relic abundance is incompatible with the data on the branching ratio of b-->s gamma, which is evaluated by including all the next-to-leading order corrections. Thus, this scheme is not viable.
Leading Yukawa terms in the three-loop anomalous dimension and four-loop $β$-function of ${\cal N}=1$ supersymmetric theories for various renormalization prescriptions
We study the impact of dimension-six operators on single- and double-Higgs production rates via gluon fusion at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). If the top-Yukawa coupling is modified by some new physics whose scale is of the TeV scale, its effect changes the cross sections of single-Higgs production $gg\to H$ and double-Higgs production $gg\to HH$ through the top-loop diagram. In particular, double-Higgs production can receive significant enhancement from the effective top-Yukawa coupling and the new dimension-five coupling $t{\bar t}HH$ which are induced by the dimension-six operator. Compar…
The ATLAS and CMS collaborations observed a mild excess in the associated Higgs production with a top-quark pair ($t\bar t h$) and reported the signal strengths of $ μ_{tth}^{\rm ATLAS}=1.81\pm 0.80$ and $μ_{tth}^{\rm CMS}=2.75\pm 0.99 $ based on the data collected at $\sqrt{s}$= 7 and 8 TeV. Although, at the current stage, there is no obvious indication whether the excess is real or due to statistical fluctuations, here we perform a case study of this mild excess by exploiting the strong entanglement between the associated Higgs production with a single top quark ($thX$) and $t\bar t h$ produ…
The recent measurement of a_μ=\frac{g_μ-2}{2} by the E821 Collaboration at Brookhaven deviates from the quoted Standard Model (SM) central value prediction by 2.6σ. The difference between SM theory and experiment may be easily accounted for in a variety of particle physics models employing weak scale supersymmetry (SUSY). Other supersymmetric models are distinctly disfavored. We evaluate a_μfor various supersymmetric models, including minimal supergravity (mSUGRA), Yukawa unified SO(10) SUSY GUTs, models with inverted mass hierarchies (IMH), models with non-universal gaugino masses, gauge medi…
We compute the beta functions for the three gauge couplings and the Yukawa matrices of a general two-Higgs-doublet model in the modified minimal subtraction scheme to three loops. The calculations are performed using Lorenz gauge in the unbroken phase. We discuss in detail the occurence of poles in anomalous dimensions and propose practical prescriptions to avoid them. We provide explicit results for the often used $\mathbb{Z}_2$-symmetric versions of the two-Higgs-doublet model of type I, II, X and Y. Furthermore, we provide the first independent cross-check of the three-loop Yukawa coupling …
We discuss the lepton sector of a realistic string-inspired model based on the Pati-Salam $SU(4)\times SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R$ gauge group supplemented by a U(1) family symmetry. The model involves third family Yukawa unification, predicts large $\tan β\sim 50$, and describes all fermion masses and mixing angles, including approximate bi-maximal mixing in the neutrino sector. Atmospheric neutrino mixing is achieved via a large 23 entry in the neutrino Yukawa matrix which can have important phenomenological effects. We find that the recent BNL result on the muon ($g-2$) can be easily accommodat…
The recent discovery of the Higgs-like resonance at $125\,\rm{GeV}$ has opened up new avenues in the search for beyond standard model physics. Hints of such extensions could manifest themselves as modifications in the Higgs-fermion couplings and other Higgs related observables. In this work, we study aspects of a class of models where the light fermion masses are radiatively generated. Specifically, we consider models where the light fermion masses, partially or completely, arise from chiral violation in the soft supersymmetry-breaking sector. In these models, the radiatively generated Higgs-f…
We investigate supersymmetric models in which an anomalous $U(1)_{X}$ symmetry explains the Yukawa hierarchy, and the related $D_{X}$-term plays a role in supersymmetry breaking. We use a bottom-up approach to model building. Phenomenological viability leads to a scenario with degenerate squark and slepton spectra and with heavy gauginos. Features of a Kähler potential that allows for such a scenario are described.
In this paper we study how a Yukawa coupling of the Standard Model fermions to a light scalar field effects the stellar structure of cold stellar remnants such as neutron stars. We elucidate the stellar structure phenomenology using a simple model of a massive scalar coupled to a single dominant fermion with no other interactions. For a broad scalar mass range ($10^{-10}\,\mathrm{eV}\ll m_ϕ\ll10^3\,\mathrm{eV}$ for neutron stars) we show that the equation-of-state and stellar structure depends only the effective coupling $\mathfrak{g}=\frac{g_f\,m_f}{m_ϕ}$, where $g_f$ is the Yukawa coupling, …
We study an extended 2 Higgs doublet model (2HDM) in which the Standard Model (SM) Yukawa interactions are forbidden due to a global $U(1)^\prime$ symmetry, but may arise via mixing with vector-like families. In this model, the hierarchical structure of Yukawa couplings of quarks and leptons in the SM arises from the heavy masses of the fourth and fifth vector-like families. Within this model, we consider various non-standard contributions to the electron and muon anomalous magnetic moments. We first consider the $W$ exchange at one-loop level, consistent with the $μ\rightarrow e γ$ constraint…
The requirement of Yukawa coupling unification highly constrains the SUSY parameter space. In several SUSY breaking scenarios it is hard to reconcile Yukawa coupling unification with experimental constraints from B(b->s gamma) and the muon anomalous magnetic moment a_mu. We show that b-tau or even t-b-tau Yukawa unification can be satisfied simultaneously with b->s gamma and a_mu in the non-universal gaugino mediation scenario. Non-universal gaugino masses naturally appear in higher dimensional grand unified models in which gauge symmetry is broken by orbifold compactification. Relations betwe…
We present analytical results for the leading top-Yukawa and QCD contribution to the $β$-function for the Higgs self-coupling $λ$ of the Standard Model at four-loop level, namely the part $\propto y_t^4 g_s^6$ independently confirming a result given in [1]. We also give the contribution $\propto y_t^2 g_s^6$ of the anomalous dimension of the Higgs field as well as the terms $\propto y_t g_s^8$ to the top-Yukawa $β$-function which can also be derived from the anomalous dimension of the top quark mass. We compare the results with the RG functions of the correlators of two and four scalar current…
We propose a dynamical scenario beyond the standard model, in which the radiative correction to the Higgs mass parameter is suppressed due to a large anomalous dimension induced through a conformal invariant coupling with an extra gauge sector. Then the anomalous dimension also suppresses the Yukawa couplings of the Higgs field. However, the large top Yukawa coupling can be generated effectively through mixing among top quarks and the fermions of the conformal gauge sector. This scenario is found to predict a fairly heavy Higgs mass of about 500 GeV. We present an explicit model and show consi…
In this paper, we investigate the decay of Higgs boson to $h_c$ plus a photon in the NRQCD theoretical framework. Comparing with the Higgs decay to $J/ψ$ plus a photon channel, this process has not indirect contribution, can be used to detect the Yukawa coupling of Higgs and charm quarks. The results show that the decay branch ratio of this process is about $10^{-8}$. If we takes into account the $10^{-3}$ efficiency in the $h_c$ detection, no events will be available even in the case of $30ab^{-1}$ luminosity at FCC-pp with 100 TeV center of mass energy. However, if the detection efficiency o…
It is suggested that various hierarchy problems in supersymmetric standard model, i.e. the Yukawa hierarchies, the μproblem, and the suppression of dangerous baryon and/or lepton number (B/L) violating couplings, are resolved altogether in the framework of horizontal U(1) symmetry whose spontaneous breaking results in the appearance of one expansion parameter (the Cabibbo angle). Within a reasonable range of U(1) charges, there exist a few models compatible with experiments. The specific sizes of B/L violating couplings of these models are calculated and several phenomenological consequences a…
We calculate the contribution of second generation scalar leptoquarks to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon (AMMM). In the near future, E-821 at Brookhaven will reduce the experimental error on this parameter to $Δa_μ^{\rm exp}<4\times 10^{-10}$, an improvement of 20 over its current value. With this new experimental limit we obtain a lower mass limit of $m_{Φ_L}>186$\ GeV for the second generation scalar leptoquark, when its Yukawa-like coupling $λ_{Φ_L}$\ to quarks and leptons is taken to be of the order of the electroweak coupling $g_2$.
We augment the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with a gauged family-dependent $U(1)$ to reproduce Yukawa textures compatible with experiment. In the simplest model with one extra chiral electroweak singlet field, acceptable textures require this $U(1)$ to be anomalous. The cancellation of its anomalies by a generic Green-Schwarz mechanism requires $\sin^2θ_w=3/8$ at the string scale, suggesting a superstring origin for the standard model.
A gauged phase symmetry with its anomalies cancelled by a Green-Schwarz mechanism, broken at a large scale by an induced Fayet-Iliopoulos term, is a generic feature of a large class of superstring theories. It induces many desirable phenomenological features: Yukawa coupling hierarchy, the emergence of a small Cabibbo-like expansion parameter, relating the Weinberg angle to $b-τ$ unification, and the linking of R-parity conservation to neutrino masses. Some are discussed in the context of a three-family model which reproduces all quark and lepton mass hierarchies as well as the solar and atmos…
The present work investigates the possibility that both dark matter and the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon may be explained within the context of the inverse seesaw extended Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (ISS-NMSSM). In ISS-NMSSM, the newly introduced Higgs-neutrino Yukawa coupling $Y_ν$ provides additional Higgsino-sneutrino loop contribution to $(g-2)_μ$. If the deviation between the experimental observations and the Standard Model predictions of the anomalous muon magnetic moment is confirmed by the further experimental and theoretical studies, it can be explained nat…
We reconsider models of fermion masses and mixings based on a gauge anomalous horizontal U(1) symmetry. In the simplest model with a single flavon field and horizontal charges of the same sign for all Standard Model fields, only very few charge assignements are allowed when all experimental data, including neutrino oscillation data, is taken into account. We show that a precise description of the observed fermion masses and mixing angles can easily be obtained by generating sets of the order one parameters left unconstrained by the U(1) symmetry. The corresponding Yukawa matrices show several …
We analyze the possibility of probing anomalous Higgs couplings in the rare decays $H \to Z V$, $V$ being a vector quarkonium state. These rare decays involve both gauge as well as the Yukawa sectors and either of them can potentially be anomalous. We show that the branching fractions for $H \to Z V$ decays in Standard Model are small, making it a sensitive probe for anomalous Higgs couplings originating from physics beyond Standard Model. Moreover, as both $V$ and $Z$ can decay into pair of charged leptons, they provide experimentally clean channels and future LHC runs should observe such dec…
In the light of the recent measurement of the muon anmalous magnetic moment $a_μ$ by the Muon $(g-2)$ Collaboration, we examine the contribution to $a_μ$ from the exchange of flavor changing scalars. Assuming that the heavier generations have larger flavor changing couplings, we obtain a bound on $μ- τ$ Yukawa coupling for a given scalar mass. Constraints on other flavor changing/conserving couplings are also obtained from the lepton flavor violating decays of muon and tau lepton, and bounds on the branching ratio of $τ\to 3 e$, $μ\to 3 e$ and $τ\to e μe$ processes are predicted.
The effective-Lagrangian description of Lorentz-invariance violation provided by the so-called Standard-Model Extension covers all the sectors of the Standard Model, allowing for model-independent studies of high-energy phenomena that might leave traces at relatively-low energies. In this context, the quantification of the large set of parameters characterizing Lorentz-violating effects is well motivated. In the present work, effects from the Lorentz-nonconserving Yukawa sector on the electromagnetic moments of charged leptons are calculated, estimated, and discussed. Following a perturbative …
A general method of computing string corrections to the Kähler metric and Yukawa couplings is developed at the one-loop level for a general compactification of the heterotic superstring theory. It also provides a direct determination of the so-called Green-Schwarz term. The matter metric has an infrared divergent part which reproduces the field-theoretical anomalous dimensions, and a moduli-dependent part which gives rise to threshold corrections in the physical Yukawa couplings. Explicit expressions are derived for symmetric orbifold compactifications.
The measurements of the muon and electron anomalous magnetic moments hint at physics beyond the standard model. We show why and how models inspired by asymptotic safety can explain deviations from standard model predictions naturally. Our setup features an enlarged scalar sector and Yukawa couplings between leptons and new vector-like fermions. Using the complete two-loop running of couplings, we observe a well-behaved high energy limit of models including a stabilization of the Higgs. We find that a manifest breaking of lepton universality beyond standard model Yukawas is not necessary to exp…
We explore the low scale implications of the Pati-Salam Model including the TeV scale right-handed neutrinos interacting and mixing with the MSSM fields through the inverse seesaw (IS) mechanism in the light of the muon anomalous magnetic moment (muon g-2) resolution, and highlight the solutions which are compatible with the Quasi-Yukawa Unification condition (QYU). We find that the presence of the right-handed neutrinos causes heavy smuons >~ 800 GeV in order to avoid tachyonic staus at the low scale. On the other hand, the sneutrinos can be as light as about 100 GeV along with the light char…
We describe the computation of the one-loop muon anomalous magnetic moment and radiative penguin transitions in the minimal and custodially protected Randall-Sundrum model. A fully five-dimensional (5D) framework is employed to match the 5D theory onto the Standard Model extended by dimension-six operators. The additional contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment from the gauge-boson exchange contributions is Delta a_mu \approx 8.8 (27.2) x 10^(-11) x (1 TeV/T)^2, where the first (second) number refers to the minimal (custodially-protected) model. Here $1/T$ denotes the location of the TeV…
In this mini review, we discuss some recent developments regarding properties of (quantum) field-theory models containing anti-Hermitian Yukawa interactions between pseudoscalar fields (axions) and Dirac (or Majorana) fermions. Specifically, after motivating physically such interactions, in the context of string-inspired low-energy effective field theories, involving right-handed neutrinos and axion fields, we proceed to discuss their formal consistency within the so-called Parity-Time-reversal(PT)-symmetry framework, as well as dynamical mass generation, induced by the Yukawa interactions, fo…
Motivated by the tension between the Higgs mass and muon g-2 in minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM), we analyze the muon g-2 in supersymmertic B-L extension of the standard model (BLSSM) with inverse seesaw mechanism. In this model, the Higgs mass receives extra important radiative corrections proportional to large neutrino Yukawa coupling. We point out that muon g-2 also gets significant contribution, due to the constructive interferences of light neutralino effects. The light neutralinos are typically the MSSM Bino like and the supersymmetric partner of U(1)_B-L gauge boson (B'-ino)…
We study perturbative unitarity constraints on generic Yukawa interactions where the involved fields have arbitrary quantum numbers under an $\prod_i SU(N_i) \otimes U(1)$ group. We derive compact expressions for the bounds on the Yukawa couplings for the cases where the fields transform under the trivial, fundamental or adjoint representation of the various $SU(N)$ factors. We apply our results to specific models formulated to explain the anomalous measurements of $(g-2)_μ$ and of the charged- and neutral-current decays of the $B$ mesons. We show that, while these models can generally still e…
