Polarized pp elastic scattering at small angles in the Coulomb-nuclear interference (CNI) region offers a unique opportunity to study the spin structure of the Pomeron. Electromagnetic effects in elastic amplitude can be equivalently treated either as Coulomb corrections to the hadronic amplitude (Coulomb phase), or as absorption corrections to the Coulomb scattering amplitude. We perform the first calculation of the Coulomb phase for the spin-flip amplitude and found it significantly exceeding the widely used non-flip Coulomb phase. The alternative description in terms of absorption corrections, though equivalent, turned out to be a more adequate approach for the Coulomb corrected spin-flip amplitude. Inspired by the recent high statistics measurements of single-spin asymmetry in the fixed-target HJET experiment at the BNL, we also performed a Regge analysis of data, aiming at disentangling the Pomeron contribution. However, in spite of an exceptional accuracy of the data, they do not allow to single out the Pomeron term, which strongly correlates with the major sub-leading Reggeons. A stable solution can be accessed only by making additional ad hoc assumptions, e.g. assuming the Pomeron to be a simple Regge pole, or fixing some unknown parameters. Otherwise, in addition to the STAR data at $\sqrt{s}=$200 GeV new measurements, say at 100 GeV or 500 GeV, could become decisive.
The Jet-Gap-Jet (JGJ) process as a way to test the Balitsky-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov Pomeron is introduced. The comparison with the Tevatron data as well as the predictions for the LHC are presented. In the second part, the possibility to measure the Double Pomeron Exchange (DPE) Jet-Gap-Jet process in the ATLAS experiment with additional AFP detectors is described. The ratio of the DPE jet-gap-jet cross section to the DPE jet cross section is presented.
We consider hard diffractive events in proton-proton collisions at the LHC, in which both protons escape the collision intact. In such double Pomeron exchange processes, we propose to measure dijets and photon-jet final states, and we show that it has the potential to pin down the Pomeron quark and gluon contents, a crucial ingredient in the standard QCD description of hard diffraction. By comparing with predictions of the soft color interaction approach, we also show that more generally, the measurement of the photon-jet to di-jet cross section ratio can put stringent test on the QCD dynamics…
Brand-new high-precision data for single-spin asymmetry $A_N(t)$ in small angle elastic $pp$ scattering from the fixed target experiment HJET at BNL at $E_{lab}=100$ and $255 \mbox{ GeV}$, as well as high energy STAR measurements at $\sqrt{s}=200 \mbox{ GeV}$, for the first time allowed to determine the spin-flip to non-flip ratio $r_5(t)$ in a wide energy range. We introduced an essential modification in the Coulomb-nuclear interference (CNI) mechanism, missed in previous analyses. It can be formulated either as a modification of the Coulomb phase, which is much larger for the spin-flip compa…
The Real Compton Scattering in ultraperipheral $pPb$ collisions at RHIC and LHC energies is investigated and predictions for the squared transverse momentum ($t$) and rapidity ($Y$) distributions are presented. The scattering amplitude is assumed to be given by the sum of the Reggeon and Pomeron contributions and the Pomeron one is described by the Color Dipole formalism taking into account the non - linear (saturation) effects in the QCD dynamics. We demonstrate that the behaviour of the cross sections at large -- $t$ and/or $Y$ is dominated by the Pomeron contribution and is strongly affecte…
In this paper, we present the results from phenomenological analysis of Z boson pair hard diffractive production at the LHC. The calculation is based on the Regge factorization approach. Diffractive parton density functions extracted by the H1 Collaboration at DESY-HERA are used. The multiple Pomeron exchange corrections are considered through the rapidity gap survival probability factor. We give numerical predictions for single diffractive as well as double Pomeron exchange cross sections and compare with the photon-induced and non-diffractive ones. The contributions from quark-anti-quark col…

Motivated by the large number of $B_c$ meson decay modes observed recently by several detectors at the LHC, we present a detailed analysis of the $B_c$ meson decaying to the $P$-wave charmonium states and a light pseudoscalar($P$) or vector ($V$) meson within the framework of perturbative QCD factorization. The $P$-wave charmonium distribution amplitudes are extracted from the $n=2,l=1$ Schr$\ddot{o}$dinger states for a Coulomb potential, which can be taken as the universal nonperturbative objects to analyze the hard exclusive processes with $P$-wave charmonium production. It is found that thes…
We study the CP violation in the Higgs boson and toponia production process at the ILC where the toponia are produced near the threshold. With the approximation that the production vertex of the Higgs boson and toponia is contact, and neglecting the P-wave toponia, we analytically calculated the density matrix for the production and decay of the toponia. Under these assumptions, the production spectrum of the toponia is solely determined by the spin quantum number, therefore the toponia can be either singlet or triplet. We find that the production rate of the singlet toponium is highly suppres…
Within a plane-wave approach, a number of scattering events in a collision is insensitive to a general phase of a transition amplitude, although this phase is extremely important for a number of problems, especially in hadronic physics. In reality the particles are better described as wave packets, and here we show that the observables grow dependent upon this phase if one lays aside the simplified plane-wave model. We discuss two methods for probing how the Coulomb- and hadronic phases change with a transferred momentum $t$, either by colliding two beams at a non-vanishing impact-parameter or…
On the basis of the representation of the generalized structure of nucleons a new model of the hadron interaction at high energies is presented. The new t-dependence of the generalized parton distributions (GPDs) is obtained from the comparative analysis of different sets of the parton distribution functions (PDFs), based on the description of the whole sets of experimental data of electromagnetic form factors of the proton and neutron. Taking into account the different moments of GPDs of the hadron the quantitative descriptions of all existing experimental data of the proton-proton and proton…
