The ability of the Gogny forces of the D1 family to describe the nucleon-nucleus scattering is studied. To this end, we use an optical model potential built up using a semi-microscopic nuclear matter approach. The real and imaginary parts of the optical model are provided by the first and second-order terms, respectively, of the Taylor expansion of the mass operator calculated within the Brueckner-Hartree-Fock method using the reaction G-matrix built up with the effective Gogny force instead of a microscopic interaction. The optical potential in finite nuclei is obtained through the Local Density Approximation using the neutron and proton densities provided by a quasi-local Hartree-Fock calculation with the same Gogny force for the sake of consistency. A reasonable good agreement is found between the theoretical differential cross-sections and the analyzing powers of the elastic neutron and proton scattering along the periodic table from Ca to Pb calculated with the Gogny forces and the corresponding values predicted by the global phenomenological potential of Koning and Delaroche. To investigate the limits of the approximations used in this work, comparisons with the results of nucleon-nucleus elastic scattering in $^{40}$Ca and $^{48}$Ca obtained using the Nuclear Structure Model are also performed.
We present our current studies and our future plans on microscopic potential based on effective nucleon-nucleon interaction and many-body theory. This framework treats in an unified way nuclear structure and reaction. It offers the opportunity to link the underlying effective interaction to nucleon scattering observables. The more consistently connected to a variety of reaction and structure experimental data the framework will be, the more constrained effective interaction will be. As a proof of concept, we present some recent results for both neutron and proton scattered from spherical targe…
An analysis of neutron and proton scattering off $^{40,48}$Ca has been carried out. Real and imaginary potentials have been generated using the Nuclear Structure Method (NSM) for scattering with the Gogny D1S nucleon-nucleon effective interaction. Observables are well described by NSM for neutron and proton elastic scattering off $^{40}$Ca and for neutron scattering off $^{48}$Ca. For proton scattering off $^{48}$Ca, NSM yields a lack of absorption. This discrepancy is attributed to double-charge-exchange contribution and coupling to Gamow- Teller mode which are not included in the present ver…
Pairing in nuclear systems with effective Gogny and V_low-k interactions
We have systematically investigated the excitation spectra of $p$-shell hypernuclei within the shell model based on the nucleon-nucleon and hyperon-nucleon interactions. For the effective nucleon-nucleon interaction, we adopt the Gogny force instead of the widely-used empirical $p$-shell Cohen-Kurath interaction, while the hyperon-nucleon interaction takes the $ΛN$ interaction including the $ΛN$-$ΣN$ coupling effect. We find that the shell model with the Gogny force can give reasonable descriptions of both spectra and binding energies of the $p$-shell nuclei. With this confidence, combined wit…
We discuss the need of including tensor terms in the effective Gogny interaction used in mean-field calculations. We show in one illustrative case that, with the usual tensor term that is employed in the Skyrme interaction (and that allows us to separate the like-nucleon and the neutron-proton tensor contributions), we can describe the evolution of the N=28 neutron gap in calcium isotopes. We propose to include a tensor and a tensor-isospin term in finite-range interactions of Gogny type. The parameters of the two tensor terms allow us to treat separately the like-nucleon and the neutron-proto…
We present an approach for the calculation of odd-nuclei with exact self-consistent blocking and particle number and angular momentum projection with the finite range density dependent Gogny force. As an application we calculate the nucleus $^{31}$Mg at the border of the $N=20$ inversion island. We evaluate the ground state properties, the excited states and the transition probabilities. In general we obtain a good description of the measured observables.
Nucleon-nucleon short-range correlations (SRCs) induce a high momentum tail (HMT) in the single-nucleon momentum distribution function $n_{ǩ}^J(ρ,δ)$ in cold neutron-rich matter. While there are clear experimental evidences that the SRC/HMT effects are different for neutrons and protons and their strengths depend strongly on the isospin asymmetry of finite nuclei mostly based on electron-nucleus scattering experiments, much less is known experimentally about the SRC/HMT effects in the dense neutron-rich matter. To facilitate further explorations of SRC/HMT effects in dense neutron-rich matter …
A multiconfiguration microscopic method has been applied with the Gogny effective interaction to the calculation of low-lying positive-parity states in even-even $^{26-28}$Si isotopes. The aim of the study is to compare the results of this approach with those of a standard method of GCM type and to get insight into the predictive power of multiconfiguration methods employed with effective nucleon-nucleon force taylored to mean-field calculations. It is found that the multiconfiguration approach leads to an excellent description of the low-lying spectroscopy of $^{26}$Si, $^{28}$Si and $^{32}$S…
A numerical method to solve the TDHFB equations by using a hybrid basis of the two-dimensional harmonic oscillator eigenfunctions and one-dimensional Lagrange mesh with the Gogny effective interaction is applied to the head-on collisions of the superfluid nuclei ${}^{20}$O's. Taking the energies around the barrier top energy, the trajectories, pairing energies, and numbers of transferred nucleons are displayed. Their dependence on the relative gauge angle at the initial time is studied by taking typical sample points of the gauge angle. It turned out that the functional form of the flux of the…
Relativistic Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov (RHFB) theory with density-dependent meson-nucleon couplings is presented. The integro-differential RHFB equations are solved by expanding the different components of the quasi-particle spinors in the complete set of eigen-solutions of the Dirac equations with Woods-Saxon potentials. Using the finite-range Gogny force D1S as an effective interaction in the pairing channel, systematic RHFB calculations are performed for Sn isotopes and N=82 isotones. It is demonstrated that an appropriate description of both mean field and pairing effects can be obtained wit…
Recent ground--state--focused studies of the tensor effects in the mean--field framework are our starting point. On the basis of phenomenological arguments, we indicate regions for acceptable values of the parameters that are associated with the tensor effective forces within both the Skyrme and the Gogny models. We identify acceptable signs and values of the parameters by making an adjustment on the neutron $1f$ spin--orbit splitting for the nuclei $^{40}$Ca, $^{48}$Ca and $^{56}$Ni. The first nucleus is not used to adjust the tensor parameters because it is spin--saturated, but is employed t…
Low-energy dipole excitations in neon isotopes and N=16 isotones are calculated with a fully consistent axially-symmetric-deformed quasiparticle random phase approximation (QRPA) approach based on Hartree-Fock-Bogolyubov (HFB) states. The same Gogny D1S effective force has been used both in HFB and QRPA calculations. The microscopical structure of these low-lying resonances, as well as the behavior of proton and neutron transition densities, are investigated in order to determine the isoscalar or isovector nature of the excitations. It is found that the N=16 isotones 24O, 26Ne, 28Mg, and 30Si …
The dineutron correlations and the crossover from superfluidity of neutron Cooper pairs in the $^1S_0$ pairing channel to Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) of dineutron pairs in both symmetric and neutron matter are studied within the relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov theory, with the effective interaction PK1 of the relativistic mean-field approach in the particle-hole channel and the finite-range Gogny force in the particle-particle channel. The influence of the pairing strength on the behaviors of dineutron correlations is investigated. It is found that the neutron pairing gaps at the Fermi su…
We present nucleon elastic scattering calculation based on Green's function formalism in the Random-Phase Approximation. For the first time, the Gogny effective interaction is used consistently throughout the whole calculation to account for the complex, non-local and energy-dependent optical potential. Effects of intermediate single-particle resonances are included and found to play a crucial role in the account for measured reaction cross section. Double counting of the particle-hole second-order contribution is carefully addressed. The resulting integro-differential Schrödinger equation for…
The conclusions of the manuscript 1806.02080v1 questioning the adequacy of the recently proposed Gogny D1M* interaction for finite nuclei calculations using harmonic oscillator (HO) basis are revised. Several convergence and stability studies are performed with HO basis of different sizes and oscillator parameters and the results show the robustness of the D1M* results for finite nuclei. This analysis is also extended to beyond mean-field calculations of generator-coordinate-method type with D1M*. On the other hand, the existence of a finite-size instability in finite nuclei when coordinate sp…
The collision smearing of the nucleon momenta about their initial values during relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions is investigated. To a certain degree, our model belongs to the transport type, and we investigate the evolution of the nucleon system created at a nucleus-nucleus collision. However, we parameterize this development by the number of collisions of every particle during evolution rather than by the time variable. It is assumed that the group of nucleons which leave the system after the same number of collisions can be joined in a particular statistical ensemble. The nucleon non…
Magic numbers are predicted in wide range of the nuclear chart by the self-consistent mean-field calculations with the M3Y-P6 and P7 semi-realistic $NN$ interactions. The magic numbers are identified by vanishing pair correlations in the spherical Hartree-Fock-Bogolyubov regime. We also identify submagic numbers when energy gain due to the pairing is sufficiently small. It is found that the results with M3Y-P6 well correspond to the known data, apart from a few exceptions. For some of the magic or submagic numbers the prediction differs from that with the Gogny-D1S or D1M interaction. Roles of…
We investigate the effects of chiral NNLO three-nucleon force (3NF) on nucleus-nucleus elastic scattering, using a standard prescription based on the Brueckner-Hartree-Fock method and the g-matrix folding model. The g-matrix calculated in nuclear matter from the chiral N3LO two-nucleon forces (2NF) is close to that from the Bonn-B 2NF. Because the Melbourne group have already developed a practical g-matrix interaction by localizing the nonlocal g-matrix calculated from the Bonn-B 2NF, we consider the effects of chiral 3NF, in this first attempt to study the 3NF effects, by modifying the local …
The nonlocality of the microscopic nucleon-nucleus optical potential is commonly localized by the Brieva-Rook approximation. The validity of the localization is tested for the proton+$^{90}$Zr scattering at the incident energies from 65 MeV to 800 MeV. The localization is valid in the wide incident-energy range.
Methods of analysis of nucleon-nucleus scattering data have progressed markedly over the past 50 years, yet many analyses of scattering data still use prescriptions specified at various stages of that progress. But the assumptions made or inherent in those analyses are poorly justified and most are no longer necessary to facilitate evaluations. We investigate some of those assumptions and highlight deficiencies and the uncertainties they may make in data analyses.
We analyze $^{16}$O-$^{16}$O and $^{12}$C-$^{12}$C scattering with the microscopic coupled-channels method and investigate the coupled-channels and three-nucleon-force (3NF) effects on elastic and inelastic cross sections. In the microscopic coupled-channels calculation, the Melbourne g-matrix interaction modified according to the chiral 3NF effects is used. It is found that the coupled-channels and 3NF effects additively change both the elastic and inelastic cross sections. As a result, the coupled-channels calculation including the 3NF effects significantly improves the agreement between the…
We investigate the roles of chiral three-nucleon force (3NF) in nucleon-nucleus elastic scattering, using the standard framework based on the Brueckner-Hartree-Fock method for nuclear matter and the $g$-matrix folding model for the nucleon-nucleus scattering. In nuclear matter, chiral 3NF at NNLO level (mainly the 2$π$-exchange diagram) makes the single particle potential less attractive for the singlet-even channel and more absorptive for the triplet channels. The single-particle potential calculated from chiral two-nucleon force (2NF) at N$^{3}$LO level is found to be close to that from Bonn…
Experimental values of Coulomb sums for q > 2 fm^(-1) are considered. Assuming that a part of nucleons is modified in the nucleus, an approach is offered, in the framework of which the calculation is in agreement with the experimental data. It gives the nuclear matter density value, above which the nucleon changes its properties. The radius of a modified proton is estimated, the possibilities for a further investigation into its properties are discussed.
