Super-Selfish is an easy to use PyTorch framework for image-based self-supervised learning. Features can be learned with 13 algorithms that span from simple classification to more complex state of theart contrastive pretext tasks. The framework is easy to use and allows for pretraining any PyTorch neural network with only two lines of code. Simultaneously, full flexibility is maintained through modular design choices. The code can be found at https://github.com/MECLabTUDA/Super_Selfish and installed using pip install super-selfish.

This paper presents solo-learn, a library of self-supervised methods for visual representation learning. Implemented in Python, using Pytorch and Pytorch lightning, the library fits both research and industry needs by featuring distributed training pipelines with mixed-precision, faster data loading via Nvidia DALI, online linear evaluation for better prototyping, and many additional training tricks. Our goal is to provide an easy-to-use library comprising a large amount of Self-supervised Learning (SSL) methods, that can be easily extended and fine-tuned by the community. solo-learn opens up …

Stereo image super-resolution aims to boost the performance of image super-resolution by exploiting the supplementary information provided by binocular systems. Although previous methods have achieved promising results, they did not fully utilize the information of cross-view and intra-view. To further unleash the potential of binocular images, in this letter, we propose a novel Transformerbased parallax fusion module called Parallax Fusion Transformer (PFT). PFT employs a Cross-view Fusion Transformer (CVFT) to utilize cross-view information and an Intra-view Refinement Transformer (IVRT) for…
Point cloud completion addresses filling in the missing parts of a partial point cloud obtained from depth sensors and generating a complete point cloud. Although there has been steep progress in the supervised methods on the synthetic point cloud completion task, it is hardly applicable in real-world scenarios due to the domain gap between the synthetic and real-world datasets or the requirement of prior information. To overcome these limitations, we propose a novel self-supervised framework ACL-SPC for point cloud completion to train and test on the same data. ACL-SPC takes a single partial …

Self-supervised monocular depth estimation has received much attention recently in computer vision. Most of the existing works in literature aggregate multi-scale features for depth prediction via either straightforward concatenation or element-wise addition, however, such feature aggregation operations generally neglect the contextual consistency between multi-scale features. Addressing this problem, we propose the Self-Distilled Feature Aggregation (SDFA) module for simultaneously aggregating a pair of low-scale and high-scale features and maintaining their contextual consistency. The SDFA e…
In this paper, we consider the problem of super-resolution recons-truction. This is a hot topic because super-resolution reconstruction has a wide range of applications in the medical field, remote sensing monitoring, and criminal investigation. Compared with traditional algorithms, the current super-resolution reconstruction algorithm based on deep learning greatly improves the clarity of reconstructed pictures. Existing work like Super-Resolution Using a Generative Adversarial Network (SRGAN) can effectively restore the texture details of the image. However, experimentally verified that the …
Recently, significant progress has been made on image denoising with strong supervision from large-scale datasets. However, obtaining well-aligned noisy-clean training image pairs for each specific scenario is complicated and costly in practice. Consequently, applying a conventional supervised denoising network on in-the-wild noisy inputs is not straightforward. Although several studies have challenged this problem without strong supervision, they rely on less practical assumptions and cannot be applied to practical situations directly. To address the aforementioned challenges, we propose a no…
Contrastive self-supervised learning (CSL) is an approach to learn useful representations by solving a pretext task that selects and compares anchor, negative and positive (APN) features from an unlabeled dataset. We present a conceptual framework that characterizes CSL approaches in five aspects (1) data augmentation pipeline, (2) encoder selection, (3) representation extraction, (4) similarity measure, and (5) loss function. We analyze three leading CSL approaches--AMDIM, CPC, and SimCLR--, and show that despite different motivations, they are special cases under this framework. We show the …

We present a self-supervised approach to training convolutional neural networks for dense depth estimation from monocular endoscopy data without a priori modeling of anatomy or shading. Our method only requires monocular endoscopic videos and a multi-view stereo method, e.g., structure from motion, to supervise learning in a sparse manner. Consequently, our method requires neither manual labeling nor patient computed tomography (CT) scan in the training and application phases. In a cross-patient experiment using CT scans as groundtruth, the proposed method achieved submillimeter mean residual …

Self-supervised monocular depth estimation, aiming to learn scene depths from single images in a self-supervised manner, has received much attention recently. In spite of recent efforts in this field, how to learn accurate scene depths and alleviate the negative influence of occlusions for self-supervised depth estimation, still remains an open problem. Addressing this problem, we firstly empirically analyze the effects of both the continuous and discrete depth constraints which are widely used in the training process of many existing works. Then inspired by the above empirical analysis, we pr…

Unsupervised learning has been a long-standing goal of machine learning and is especially important for medical image analysis, where the learning can compensate for the scarcity of labeled datasets. A promising subclass of unsupervised learning is self-supervised learning, which aims to learn salient features using the raw input as the learning signal. In this paper, we use a contrastive self-supervised learning method called SimCLR that achieved state-of-the-art results on natural-scene images and apply this method to digital histopathology by collecting and pretraining on 57 histopathology …

The task of blood vessel segmentation in microscopy images is crucial for many diagnostic and research applications. However, vessels can look vastly different, depending on the transient imaging conditions, and collecting data for supervised training is laborious. We present a novel deep learning method for unsupervised segmentation of blood vessels. The method is inspired by the field of active contours and we introduce a new loss term, which is based on the morphological Active Contours Without Edges (ACWE) optimization method. The role of the morphological operators is played by novel pool…

Pointwise localization allows more precise localization and accurate interpretability, compared to bounding box, in applications where objects are highly unstructured such as in medical domain. In this work, we focus on weakly supervised localization (WSL) where a model is trained to classify an image and localize regions of interest at pixel-level using only global image annotation. Typical convolutional attentions maps are prune to high false positive regions. To alleviate this issue, we propose a new deep learning method for WSL, composed of a localizer and a classifier, where the localizer…

Convolutional neural networks have been proven to be of great benefit for single-image super-resolution (SISR). However, previous works do not make full use of multi-scale features and ignore the inter-scale correlation between different upsampling factors, resulting in sub-optimal performance. Instead of blindly increasing the depth of the network, we are committed to mining image features and learning the inter-scale correlation between different upsampling factors. To achieve this, we propose a Multi-scale Dense Cross Network (MDCN), which achieves great performance with fewer parameters an…

While self-supervised representation learning (SSL) has received widespread attention from the community, recent research argue that its performance will suffer a cliff fall when the model size decreases. The current method mainly relies on contrastive learning to train the network and in this work, we propose a simple yet effective Distilled Contrastive Learning (DisCo) to ease the issue by a large margin. Specifically, we find the final embedding obtained by the mainstream SSL methods contains the most fruitful information, and propose to distill the final embedding to maximally transmit a t…

Imagining a colored realistic image from an arbitrarily drawn sketch is one of the human capabilities that we eager machines to mimic. Unlike previous methods that either requires the sketch-image pairs or utilize low-quantity detected edges as sketches, we study the exemplar-based sketch-to-image (s2i) synthesis task in a self-supervised learning manner, eliminating the necessity of the paired sketch data. To this end, we first propose an unsupervised method to efficiently synthesize line-sketches for general RGB-only datasets. With the synthetic paired-data, we then present a self-supervised…
