We study the thermodynamic properties of a relativistic magnetized neutral vector boson gas at any temperature. By comparing the results with the low temperature and the non relativistic descriptions of this gas, we found that the fully relativistic case can be separated in two regimes according to temperature. For low temperatures, magnetic field effects dominate and the system shows a spontaneous magnetization, its pressure splits in two components and, eventually, a transversal magnetic collapse might occur. In the high temperature region, the gas behavior is led by pair production. The presence of antiparticles preserves the isotropy in the pressure, and increases the magnetization and the total pressure of the system by several orders. Astrophysical implications of those behaviors are discussed.
We study the thermodynamic properties of a relativistic magnetized neutral vector boson gas at any temperature. We analyse the effect of temperature as well as antiparticles in Bose-Einstein condensation. Astrophysical implications are discussed.
We have systematically constructed the general structure of the gauge boson self-energy and the effective propagator in presence of a nontrivial background like hot magnetized material medium. Based on this as well as the general structure of fermion propagator in weakly magnetized medium we have calculated pressure of deconfined QCD matter within HTL approximation.
Axions have been argued to form coherent axionic boson stars as well as incoherent axion gas. These are ones of most plausible candidates of dark matters. Since the axionic boson stars generate oscillating electric fields in an external magnetic field, they induce oscillating currents in magnetized conducting media, which result in emitting radiations. We show that colliding with a magnetic white dwarf, an axionic boson star can emit a monochromatic radiation with a frequency given by a mass of the axion.
Axions are possible candidates of dark matter in the present Universe. They have been argued to form axionic boson stars with small masses $\sim 10^{-12}M_{\odot}$. Since they possess oscillating electric fields in a magnetic field, they dissipate their energies in magnetized conducting media. We show that colliding with a magnetized white dwarf, the axionic boson stars dissipate their energies and heat the white dwarf. Consequently the white dwarf cooled sufficiently can emit detectable amount of radiations with the collision. Using a recent evaluation of the population of the white dwarfs as…
We study the thermodynamic properties of a neutral vector boson gas in presence of a constant magnetic field, by means of a semi-classical approach that allows to introduce the spin in the non-relativistic spectrum of the bosons. Bose-Einstein condensation is obtained and it turns out to depend on all the parameters involved in the problem: temperature, particle density and magnetic field. An spontaneous magnetization appears at low temperature as a consequence of the condensed state. The axial symmetry imposed in the system by the magnetic field presence, splits the pressure in two components…
Neutron matter at densities somewhat above nuclear densities is believed to be superfluid due to the condensation of neutron pairs in the 3 P2 channel. This condensate breaks rotational symmetry spontaneously and leads to the existence of Goldstone bosons (angulons). We show that the coupling to magnetic fields mediated by the magnetic moment of the neutron makes angulons massive and capable of decaying into a neutrino-antineutrino pair. We compute the rate for this process and argue they become competitive with other cooling processes for temperatures around 10^7 K as long as the interior mag…
We study the Higgs boson mass and the spectrum of supersymmetric (SUSY) particles in the well-motivated particle physics model derived from a ten-dimensional supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory compactified on three factorizable tori with magnetic fluxes. This model was proposed in a previous work, where the flavor structures of the standard model including the realistic Yukawa hierarchies are obtained from non-hierarchical input parameters on the magnetized background. Assuming moduli- and anomaly-mediated contributions dominate the soft SUSY breaking terms, we study the precise SUSY spectra and…
Based on transversality condition of gauge boson self-energy we have systematically constructed the general structure of the gauge boson two-point functions using four linearly independent basis tensors in presence of a nontrivial background, i.e., hot magnetized material medium. The hard thermal loop approximation has been used for the heat bath to compute various form factors associated with the gauge boson's two point functions both in strong and weak field approximation. We have also analyzed the dispersion of a gauge boson (e.g., gluon) using the effective propagator both in strong and we…
We derive relative upper bounds on the effective magnetic moment of Dirac neutrinos from comparison of the standard weak and electromagnetic mechanisms of the neutrino luminosity due to the Compton-like photoproduction of neutrino pairs in a degenerate gas of electrons on the lowest Landau level in a strong magnetic field. These bounds are close to the known astrophysical and laboratory ones.
Axions are possible candidates of dark matter in the present Universe. They have been argued to form axionic boson stars with small masses $10^{-14}M_{\odot}\sim 10^{-11}M_{\odot}$. Since they possess oscillating electric fields in a magnetic field, they dissipate their energies in magnetized conducting media such as white dwarfs or neutron stars. At the same time the oscillating electric fields generate a monochromatic radiation with energy equal to mass of the axion. We argue that the effect of the energy dissipation can be seen in the old white dwarfs. In particular, We show that colliding …
The decay of a heavy neutral scalar particle into fermions and into charged scalars are analyzed when in the presence of an external magnetic field and finite temperature. Working in the one-loop approximation for the study of these decay channels, it is shown that the magnetic field leads in general to a suppression of the decay width whenever the kinematic constrain depends explicitly on the magnetic field. Our results are also compared with common approximations found in the literature, e.g., when the magnitude of the external magnetic field is smaller than the decaying product particle mas…
In this article the neutrino bremsstrahlung process is considered in presence of strong magnetic field, though the calculations for this process in absence of magnetic field are also carried out simultaneously. The electrons involved in this process are supposed to be highly degenerate and relativistic. The scattering cross sections and energy loss rates for both cases, in presence and absence of magnetic field, are calculated in the extreme-relativistic limit. Two results are compared in the range of temperature $5.9\times 10^{9}$ K $< T\leq 10^{11}$ K and magnetic field $10^{14} - 10^{16}$ G…
The thermodynamic properties of a non-interacting ideal Hadron Resonance Gas (HRG) of finite volume have been studied in the presence of an external magnetic field. The inclusion of background magnetic field in the calculation of thermodynamic potential is done by the modification of the dispersion relations of the charged hadrons in terms of Landau quantization. The generalized Matsubara prescription has been employed to take into account the finite size effects in which a periodic (anti-periodic) boundary conditions is considered for the mesons (baryons). We find significant effects of the m…
The expressions of the shear viscosity and the bulk viscosity components in the presence of an arbitrary external magnetic field for a system of hot charged scalar Bosons (spin-0) as well as for a system of hot charged Dirac Fermions (spin-$\frac{1}{2}$) have been derived by employing the one-loop Kubo Formalism. This is done by explicitly evaluating the thermo-magnetic spectral functions of the energy momentum tensors using the real time formalism of finite temperature field theory and the Schwinger proper time formalism. In the present work, a rich quantum field theoretical structure in the …
The electrical and Hall conductivities in a uniform magnetic field are evaluated for an interacting pion gas using the kinetic theory approach within the ambit of relaxation time approximation (RTA). The in-medium cross sections vis-a-vis the relaxation time for $ππ$ scattering are obtained using a one-loop modified thermal propagator for the exchanged $ρ$ and $σ$ mesons using thermal field theoretic techniques. For higher values of the magnetic field, a monotonic increase of the electrical conductivity with the temperature is observed. However, for a given temperature the conductivity is foun…
The main properties of magnetized strangelets, namely, their energy per baryon, radius and electric charge, are studied. Temperature effects are also taken into account in order to study their stability compared to the 56Fe isotope and non-magnetized strangelets using the liquid drop model. Massive quarks are considered with the aim to have a more realistic description for strangelets in the astrophysical context and the environment of heavy ion colliders, playing also an important role in the thermodynamical quantities of the quark gas. It is concluded that the presence of a magnetic field te…
We calculate the neutrino luminosity of a degenerate electron gas in a strong magnetic field via plasmon decay to a neutrino pair due to neutrino electromagnetic moments and obtain the relative upper bounds on the effective neutrino magnetic moment.
Among the combinations $L_e-L_μ$, $L_e-L_τ$ and $L_μ-L_τ$ any one can be gauged in anomaly free way with the standard model gauge group. The masses of these gauge bosons can be so light that it can induce long-range forces on the Earth due to the electrons in the Sun. This type of forces can be constrained significantly from neutrino oscillation. As the sign of the potential is opposite for neutrinos and antineutrinos, a magnetized iron calorimeter detector (ICAL) would be able to produce strong constraint on it. We have made conservative studies of these long-range forces with atmospheric neu…
Bose-Einstein condensation in the early universe is considered. The magnetic properties of a condensate of charged vector bosons are studied, showing that a ferromagnetic state is formed. As a consequence, the primeval plasma may be spontaneously magnetized inside macroscopically large domains and primordial magnetic fields can be generated.
The polarization operator of an axion in a degenerate gas of electrons occupying the ground-state Landau level in a superstrong magnetic field $H\gg H_0=m_e^2c^3/e\hbar =4.41\cdot 10^{13}$ G is investigated in a model with a tree-level axion-electron coupling. It is shown that a dynamic axion mass, which can fall within the allowed range of values $(10^{-5} eV \lesssim m_a\lesssim 10^{-2} eV)$, is generated under the conditions of strongly magnetized neutron stars. As a result, the dispersion relation for axions is appreciably different from that in a vacuum.
The energy loss rate of a magnetized electron gas emitting axions a due to the process $e^- \to e^- +a$ is derived for arbitrary magnetic field strength B. Requiring that for a strongly magnetized neutron star the axion luminosity is smaller than the neutrino luminosity we obtain the bound $g_{ae}\lsim 10^{-10}$ for the axion electron coupling constant. This limit is considerably weaker than the bound derived earlier by Borisov and Grishina using the same method. Applying a similar argument to magnetic white dwarf stars results in the more stringent bound $g_{ae}\lsim 9x10^{-13} (T/10^7 K)^{5/…
