We consider the $U(1)$ gauged two-component Friedberg-Lee-Sirlin model in 3+1 dimensional Minkowski spacetime, which supports non-topological soliton configurations. Depending on the relative strength of gravity and the electromagnetic interaction, the resulting boson stars exhibit either the typical properties of ungauged boson stars, or their behavior resembles the pattern found for gauged Q-balls of the Friedberg-Lee-Sirlin model in flat spacetime, both for a finite and a vanishing potential.

We consider Friedberg-Lee-Sirlin Q-balls in a (3+1)-dimensional model with vanishing scalar potential of one of the fields. The Q-ball is stabilized by the gradient energy of this field and carries scalar charge, over and beyond the global charge. The latter property is inherent also in a model with the scalar potential that does not vanish in some finite field region near the origin.
