$b\to sτ^+τ^-$ measurements are highly motivated for addressing lepton-flavor-universality (LFU)-violating puzzles such as $R_{K^{(\ast)}}$ anomalies. The anomalies of $R_{D^{(*)}}$ and $R_{J/ψ}$ further strengthen their necessity and importance, given that the LFU-violating hints from both involve the third-generation leptons directly. $Z$ factories at the future $e^-e^+$ colliders stand at a great position to conduct such measurements because of their relatively high production rates and reconstruction efficiencies for $B$ mesons at the $Z$ pole. To fully explore this potential, we pursue a dedicated sensitivity study in four $b\to sτ^+τ^-$ benchmark channels, namely $B^0\to K^{\ast 0} τ^+ τ^-$, $B_s\toϕτ^+ τ^-$, $B^+ \to K^+ τ^+ τ^- $ and $B_s \to τ^+ τ^-$, at the future $Z$ factories. We develop a fully tracker-based scheme for reconstructing the signal $B$ mesons and introduce a semi-quantitative method for estimating their major backgrounds. The simulations indicate that branching ratios of the first three channels can be measured with a precision $\sim \mathcal O(10^{-7} - 10^{-6})$ and that of $B_s \to τ^+ τ^-$ with a precision $\sim \mathcal O(10^{-5})$ at Tera-$Z$. The impacts of luminosity and tracker resolution on the expected sensitivities are explored. The interpretations of these results in effective field theory are also presented.
Further experimental and theoretical studies of the physics of flavor and CP violation are well motivated. Within the supersymmetric framework, higher precision measurements will allow to explore classes of models with stronger degree of universality: first, models with no universality, such as alignment or heavy first two squark generations; second, models with approximate universality, such as dilaton dominance or AMSB; and finally models of exact universality, such as GMSB. A broad program, including various rare processes or CP asymmetries in B, D and K decays, will provide detailed inform…
The Circular Electron Positron Collider and International Linear Collider are two electron positron Higgs factories. They are designed to operate at center-of-mass energy of 240 and 250 GeV and accumulate 5.6 and 2 $ab^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. Using CEPC official samples, the signal strength for Higgs to $ττ$ events are analyzed. The combined accuracy of the signal strength for $H\rightarrow ττ$ at CEPC achieves 0.8\%. Extrapolating this analysis to the ILC setup, we conclude the ILC can reach a relative accuracy of 1.1\% or 1.2\%, corresponding to two benchmark settings of the beam pol…
We analyze the capacity of future $Z$-factories to search for heavy neutrinos with their mass from 10 to 85 GeV. The heavy neutrinos $N$ are considered to be produced via the process $e^+e^-\to Z\to νN$ and to decay into an electron or muon and two jets. By means of Monte Carlo simulation of such signal events and the Standard Model background events, we obtain the upper bounds on the cross sections $σ(e^+e^-\to νN\to ν\ell jj)$ given by the $Z$-factories with integrated luminosities of 0.1, 1 and 10 ab$^{-1}$ if no signal events are observed. Under the assumption of a minimal extension of the…
The existence of heavy neutrinos is the most prominent feature of type-I seesaw-like mechanisms, which naturally explain tiny masses of observed neutrinos. Various experiments have been conducted to search for heavy neutrinos, with meson decays sensitive to heavy neutrinos lighter than $B$ mesons and high energy collider experiments sensitive to the ones with masses larger than $\mathcal{O}(0.1)$ TeV. In between, there is a mass gap uncovered by these two kinds of experiments, and by this work, we investigate the 3-15 GeV neutrino searches at future $Z$-factories via the process $e^{-}e^{+}\ri…
We calculate the so--called Fermi motion parameter $p_{_F}$ of ACCMM model using the variational method in a potential model approach. We also propose hadronic invariant mass distribution as an alternative experimental observable to measure $V_{ub}$ at future asymmetric $B$ factories.
In this work, we study the implication of Higgs precision measurements at future Higgs factories on the MSSM parameter space, focusing on the dominant stop sector contributions. We perform a multi-variable fit to both the signal strength for various Higgs decay channels at Higgs factories and the Higgs mass. The chi-square fit results show sensitivity to mA, tan beta, stop mass parameter mSUSY as well as the stop left-right mixing parameter Xt. We also study the impact of the Higgs mass prediction on the MSSM and compare the sensitivities of different Higgs factories.
In this talk, we first make some brief comments on the phase-convention dependence of the CP-violating parameter ε_B. A simple framework is then presented for analyzing new physics contributions to B^0-\bar{B}^0 mixing and their effects on the lepton CP asymmetry, a promising signal to be further searched for in the first-round experiments of B factories.
We investigate the prospects for detecting axion-like particles (ALPs, dubbed as "a") via the decay $Z\rightarrow a f\bar{f}$ at future $Z$ factories. Considering the decay channels $a\rightarrow μ^+ μ^-$ and $a\rightarrow b \bar{b}$ , four types of signals $μ^+ μ^- /E$, $b b /E$, $e^+ e^- μ^+ μ^-$ and $e^+ e^- b b$ are explored. We demonstrate that these channels are promising for detecting ALPs at $Z$ factories and obtain the sensitivity bounds on the couplings $g_{aZZ}$ and $g_{aγZ}$.
We present a complete study of the associated production of the $η_c$ meson with light hadrons in $e^+e^-$ collisions at the B-factory energy, which is demonstrated to be one of the best laboratories for testing the colour-octet (CO) mechanism. The colour-siglet contributions are evaluated up to $O(α^2α_s^3)$ while the CO ones are evaluated up to $O(α^2α_s^2)$. For the first time, the angular distribution of the $^1S_0^{[8]}$ production is studied at QCD next-to-leading order. We find that the $^1S_0^{[8]}$ channel dominate the total cross section, while the $^1P_1^{[8]}$ one exhibit its impor…
We demonstrate how probes of CP-violating observables in Higgs di-tau decays at prospective future lepton colliders could provide a test of weak scale baryogenesis with significant discovery potential. Measurements at the Circular Electron Positron Collider, for example, could exclude a CP phase larger than $2.9^\circ$ ($5.6^\circ$) at 68% (95%) C.L. assuming the Standard Model value for magnitude of the tau lepton Yukawa coupling. Conversely, this sensitivity would allow for a $5\,σ$ discovery for 82% of the CP phase range $[0,2π)$. The reaches of the Future Circular Collider - ee and Interna…
We consider an extension of the Standard Model with two right-handed singlet fermions with mass at the electroweak scale that induce neutrino masses, plus a generic new physics sector at a higher scale $Λ$. We focus on the effective operators of lowest dimension $d=5$, which induce new production and decay modes for the singlet fermions. We assess the sensitivity of future Higgs Factories, such as FCC-ee, CLIC-380, ILC and CEPC, to the coefficients of these operators for various center of mass energies. We show that future lepton colliders can test the cut-off of the theory up to $Λ\simeq 500 …
It is suggested that the measurements of hadronic invariant mass ($m_X$) distributons in the inclusive $B \rightarrow X_{c(u)} l ν$ decays can be useful in extracting the CKM matrix element $|V_{ub}|$. We investigated hadronic invariant mass distributions within the various theoretical models of HQET, FAC and chiral lagrangian as well as ACCMM model. It is also emphasized that the $m_X$ distribution even at the region $m_{X} > m_{D}$ in the inclusive $b\rightarrow u$ are effetive in selecting the events, experimentally viable at the future asymmetric $B$ factories, with better theoretical unde…
We investigate the prospects of searching dark sector models via exotic Z-boson decay at future $e^+ e^-$ colliders with Giga Z and Tera Z options. Four general categories of dark sector models: Higgs portal dark matter, vector portal dark matter, inelastic dark matter and axion-like particles, are considered. Focusing on channels motivated by the dark sector models, we carry out a model independent study of the sensitivities of Z-factories in probing exotic decays. The limits on branching ratios of the exotic Z decay are typically $\mathcal{O} (10^{-6} - 10^{-8.5}) $ for the Giga Z and $\math…
The main motivation for B factories is the investigation of CP violation. We consider two questions: 1) Why has there been essentially no experimental progress in CP violation in the 28 years since its discovery in 1964? 2) Why do we expect better results from B factories?
The Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) with a center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}$ = 240 GeV is proposed to serve as a Higgs factory, while it can also provide good opportunity for new physics searches at lower energy, which are difficult in hadron colliders but well-motivated by some theory models such as dark matter. This paper presents the sensitivity study of direct stau / smuon production at CEPC using full Monte Carlo (MC) simulation. With the assumption of flat 5% systematic uncertainty, the CEPC has the potential to discover the production of combined left-handed and right-handed s…
In this work, we study the impact of electroweak and Higgs precision measurements at future electron-positron colliders on several typical supersymmetric models, including the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM), Non-Universal Higgs Mass generalisations (NUHM1, NUHM2), and the 7-dimensional Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM7). Using publicly-available data from the \textsf{GAMBIT} community, we post-process previous SUSY global fits with additional likelihoods to explore the discovery potential of Higgs factories, such as the Circular Electron Positron Collider …
The capabilities of a neutrino factory in the determination of polarized parton distributions from charged-current deep-inelastic scattering experiments is discussed. We present a study of the accuracy in the determination of polarized parton distributions that would be possible with such a facility. We show that these measurements have the potential to distinguish between different theoretical scenarios for the proton spin structure.
Isosinglet fermions naturally arise in a variety of extensions of the Standard Model, in particular in models with extra dimensions. In this paper, we study the effect of the addition of a new isosinglet charged lepton to the standard spectrum, with special emphasis on implications for neutrino asymmetries to be measured at future neutrino factories. Lepton flavour violation in neutral current and lepton universality constraints are extensively discussed. We show that new physics effects in $ν_e-ν_μ$ CP asymmetries are significantly enhanced due to leptonic maximal mixings but still too small …
As one of the hypothetical principles in the Standard Model (SM), lepton flavor universality (LFU) should be tested with a precision as high as possible such that the physics violating this principle can be fully examined. The run of $Z$ factory at a future $e^+e^-$ collider such as CEPC or FCC-$ee$ provides a great opportunity to perform this task because of the large statistics and high reconstruction efficiencies for $b$-hadrons at $Z$ pole. In this paper, we present a systematic study on the LFU test in the future $Z$ factories. The goal is three-fold. Firstly, we study the sensitivities o…
We evaluate the QED corrections due to initial state radiation (ISR) to associated Higgs boson production in electron-positron ($e^+ e^-$) annihilation at typical energies of interest for the measurement of the Higgs properties at future $e^+ e^-$ colliders, such as CEPC and FCC-ee. We apply the QED Structure Function approach to the four-fermion production process $e^+ e^- \to μ^+ μ^- b \bar b$, including both signal and background contributions. We emphasize the relevance of the ISR corrections particularly near threshold and show that finite third order collinear contributions are mandatory…
We review the salient features of $B$-meson physics, with particular emphasis on the measurements carried out at the $B$-factories and Tevatron, theoretical progress in understanding these measurements in the context of the standard model, and anticipation at the LHC. Topics discussed specifically are the current status of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix, the CP-violating phases, rare radiative and semileptonic decays, and some selected non-leptonic two-body decays of the $B$ mesons.
We study an extension of the Standard Model with electroweak scale right-handed singlet fermions $N$ that induces neutrino masses, plus a generic new physics sector at a higher scale $Λ$. The latter is parametrized in terms of effective operators in the language of the $ν$SMEFT. We study its phenomenology considering operators up to $d=6$, where additional production and decay modes for $N$ are present in addition to those arising from the mixing with the active neutrinos. We focus on the production with four-Fermi operators and we identify the most relevant additional decay modes to be $N\to …
Future Higgs factories can reach impressive precision on Higgs property measurements. In this paper, instead of conventional focus of Higgs precision in certain interaction bases, we explored its sensitivity to new physics models at the electron-positron colliders. In particular, we studied two categories of new physics models, Standard Model (SM) with a real scalar singlet extension, and Two Higgs Double Model (2HDM) as examples of weakly-interacting models, Minimal Composite Higgs Model (MCHM) and three typical patterns of the more general operator counting for strong interacting models as e…
The electroweak phase transition can be made first order by extending the Standard Model (SM) Higgs sector with extra scalars. The same new physics can explain the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the universe by supplying an extra source of CP violation and sphaleron processes. In this paper we study the existence of a strong first order electroweak phase transition (SFOEWPT) in the type-I and type-II two Higgs doublet models (2HDM). We focus on how the SFOEWPT requirement constraints the spectrum of non-SM Higgs. Through a parameter space scan, we find that SFOEWPT suggests upper limits on the…
We are in the middle of a time of exciting discovery, namely that neutrinos have mass and oscillate. In order to take the next steps to understand this potential window onto what well might be the mechanism that links the quarks and leptons, we need both new neutrino beams and new detectors. The new beamlines can and should also provide new laboratories for doing charged lepton flavor physics, and the new detectors can and should also provide laboratories for doing other physics like proton decay, supernovae searches, etc. The new neutrino beams serve as milestones along the way to a muon coll…
The high precision measurements of the Higgs mass and couplings at the future Higgs factories are sensitive to the parameter space of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). Focused on the dominant stop sector contributions, we study the implication of the Higgs precision measurements on MSSM using multi-variable $χ^2$ fit. The results show nice complementarity between the indirect searches at Higgs factories and the direct searches at the current LHC program.
Future lepton colliders such as the CEPC and FCC-ee would run as high-luminosity $Z-$boson factories, which offer a unique opportunity to study long-lived particles which couple to Z-bosons. In order to exemplify this particular advantage, in this work we consider one benchmark physics scenario where the long-lived lightest neutralinos pair $(\tildeχ_1^0\tildeχ_1^0)$ is produced from $Z-$decays in the context of the R-parity violating supersymmetry. Our analysis indicates that when assuming BR$(Z\rightarrow \tildeχ_1^0\tildeχ_1^0) = 10^{-3}$ and $m_{\tildeχ_1^0} \sim 40$ GeV, the model paramet…
We investigate quark flavor signals in three different supersymmetric models, the minimal supergravity, the SU(5) SUSY GUT with right handed neutrinos, and the minimal supersymmetric standard model with U(2) flavor symmetry, in order to study physics potential of the present and future $B$ factories. We evaluate CP asymmetries in various B decay modes, $Δm_{B_s}$, $Δm_{B_d}$, and $ε_K$. The allowed regions of the CP asymmetry in $B\to J/ψK_S$ and $Δm_{B_s}/Δm_{B_d}$ are different for the three models so that precise determinations of these observables in near future experiments are useful to d…
Even in 2010 the CKM parameters $V_{cs}$, $V_{cd}$ and $V_{ub}$ will be known with less than desirable accuracy; the discovery potential for New Physics in charm decays -- in particular their CP asymmetries -- will be far from exhausted; important tests of our theoretical tools will not have been performed. I sketch the impact a $ν$fact could have in these areas.
We point out the physics opportunities of future high-luminosity B-factories at the Upsilon(5S) resonance and above. In this paper we discuss numerous interesting investigations, which can be performed in the e+e- centre-of-mass energy region from the Upsilon(5S) and up to 11.5 GeV, where an efficient data taking operation should be possible with the planned B-factories. These studies include abundant Bs production and decay properties; independent confirmation and if found, exhaustive exploration of Belle's claimed charged bottomonia; clarification of puzzles of interquarkonium dipion transit…
The sum rule for the first moment of the polarised (virtual) photon structure function $g_1^γ(x,Q^2;K^2)$ is revisited in the light of proposals for future $e^+ e^-$ colliders. The sum rule exhibits an array of phenomena characteristic of QCD: for real photons ($K^2=0$) electromagnetic gauge invariance constrains the first moment to vanish; the limit for asymptotic photon virtuality ($m_ρ^2 \ll K^2 \ll Q^2$) is governed by the electromagnetic $U_A(1)$ axial anomaly and the approach to asymptopia by the gluonic anomaly; for intermediate values of $K^2$, it reflects the realisation of chiral sym…
We investigate flavor physics at present and future B factories in order to distinguish supersymmetric models. We evaluate CP asymmetries in various B decay modes, Delta M(Bd), Delta M(Bs), and epsilon_K in three supersymmetric models, i.e. the minimal supergravity, the SU(5) SUSY GUT with right handed neutrinos, and a supersymmetric model with U(2) flavor symmetry. The allowed regions of Delta M(Bs)/Delta M(Bd) and CP asymmetries in B to J/psi K_S and b to s gamma are different for the three models so that it is possible to distinguish the three models by precise determinations of these obser…
We utilise the LHC Run-1 and -2 Higgs data to constrain the CP-violating top-Higgs couplings. In order to satisfy the current full Higgs data sets at $2σ$ level, the CP-odd component $C^p_t$ and the CP-even component $C^s_t$ have to be within the ranges $|C^p_t|< 0.37$ and $0.85 <C^s_t< 1.20$, respectively, which is stronger than the LHC Run-1 bound $|C^p_t|< 0.54$ and $0.68 <C^s_t< 1.20$. With the new bound, we explore the impact on the CP-violating top-Higgs couplings in the Higgs production processes $pp \to t\bar{t}h, thj, hh$ at 13 TeV LHC, and $e^+e^- \to hZ, hγ$ at future 240 GeV Higgs …
We discuss the determination of polarized parton distributions from charged-current deep-inelastic scattering experiments. We summarize the next-to-leading order treatment of charged-current polarized structure functions, their relation to polarized parton distributions and scale dependence, and discuss their description by means of a next-to-leading order evolution code. We discuss current theoretical expectations and positivity constraints on the unmeasured C-odd combinations Delta q-Delta qbar of polarized quark distributions, and their determination in charged-current deep-inelastic scatte…
The PANDA detector at FAIR aims to conduct an antiproton-proton experiment with a very high rate capability. It is expected to feature high mass resolution, more than 20 times better than achieved at B-factories. PANDA is in a unique position to perform highly resolved mass scan, and to measure the width of very narrow charm and charmonium-like states, whose nature is still unknown, 12 years after their discovery. In this report, we present a method to determine the width of the $D_{s0}^*(2317)^+$. We discuss the future perspectives of PANDA, based on our present simulations, in relation with …
We discuss the physics reach of $β$-Beams and $ν$-Factories from a theoretical perspective, having as a guideline the problem of degeneracies. The presence of degenerate solutions in the measure of the neutrino oscillation parameters $θ_{13}$ and $δ$ is, in fact, the main problem that have to be addressed in planning future neutrino oscillation experiments. If degeneracies are not (at least partially) solved, it will be almost impossible to perform, at any future facility, precise measurements of $θ_{13}$ and/or $δ$. After a pedagogical introduction on why degenerate solutions arise and how we…
In radiative B decays to final states containing one spin zero meson, one spin one meson and a photon, the photon polarization can be measured from the angular distribution of the final state. The P-odd, C-even components of this distribution lead to triple correlation asymmetries that are very sensitive to new physics as they are likely to receive only tiny contributions from the Standard Model. There are also (CP-conserving) forward-backward asymmetries to which there may be SM contributions of a few percent; nevertheless there is a data driven means to overcome the SM ``pollution''. These l…
The measurement of the pion form factor and, more generally, of the cross section for electron-positron annihilation into hadrons through the radiative return has become an important task for high luminosity colliders such as the Phi- or B-meson factories. This quantity is crucial for predictions of the hadronic contributions to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, and to the running of the electromagnetic coupling. But the radiative return opens the possibility of many other physical applications. The physics potential of this method at high luminosity meson factories is discussed, the …
To provide focus to my review of charm theory at the B-Physics and CP-Violation conference, I consider theoretical issues related to possible charm studies at B-factories. A few topics of interest to the author are stressed -- rare decays, CP-violating asymmetries and ${\bar D}^0 - D^0$ mixing.
Neutrino scattering physics is discussed for investigating internal structure of the nucleon and nuclei at future neutrino facilities. We explain structure functions in neutrino scattering. In particular, there are new polarized functions g_3, g_4, and g_5, and they should provide us important information for determining internal nucleon spin structure. Next, nuclear structure functions are discussed. From F_3 structure function measurements, valence-quark shadowing should be clarified. Nuclear effects on the NuTeV sin^2θ_W anomaly are explained. We also comment on low-energy neutrino scatteri…
Over the past two decades, the high energy physics community has been actively discussing and developing a number of post-LHC collider projects; however, none of them have been approved due to high costs and the uncertainty in post-LHC physics scenarios. There have been great expectations of rich new physics in the 0.1-1 TeV mass region: the Higgs boson (one or several), supersymmetry, or perhaps new particles from the dark-matter family. It has been the general consensus that the best machine for the detailed study of new physics to be discovered at the LHC would be an energy-frontier linear …
If the fundamental Planck scale is of order a TeV, as the case in some extra-dimensions scenarios, future hadron colliders such as the Large Hadron Collider will be black hole factories. The non-perturbative process of black hole formation and decay by Hawking evaporation gives rise to spectacular events with up to many dozens of relatively hard jets and leptons, with a characteristic ratio of hadronic to leptonic activity of roughly 5:1. The total transverse energy of such events is typically a sizeable fraction of the beam energy. Perturbative hard scattering processes at energies well above…
Future precision measurements of the Standard Model (SM) parameters at the proposed Z-factories and Higgs factories may have significant impacts on new physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM). We illustrate this by focusing on the Type-II two Higgs doublet model. A multi-variable global fitting is performed with full one loop contributions to relevant couplings. The Higgs signal strength measurements at proposed Higgs factories can provide strong constraints on new physics and are found to be complementary to the Z-pole measurements.
The energy consumption of any of the $\rm e^+e^-$ Higgs factory projects that can credibly operate immediately after the end of LHC, namely three linear colliders (CLIC, operating at $\sqrt{s}=380$GeV; and ILC and $\rm C^3$, operating at $\sqrt{s}=250$ GeV) and two circular colliders (CEPC and FCC-ee, operating at $\sqrt{s}=240$ GeV), will be everything but negligible. Future Higgs boson studies may therefore have a significant environmental impact. This note proposes to include the carbon footprint for a given physics performance as a top-level gauge for the design optimization and, eventuall…
The recent evidence for neutrino oscillations opens a new and exciting era in neutrino physics. The next generation of accelerator based neutrino oscillation experiments are expected to confirm the nature of the oscillations, and begin to measure some of the associated oscillation parameters. However, these experiments will not be able to completely determine the mixing matrix, determine the pattern of neutrino masses, or search for CP violation in the lepton sector. Therefore we are motivated to consider the neutrino beams that will be needed beyond the next generation of experiments. With th…

We update theoretical studies of the physics opportunities presented by mu+mu- Higgs factories. Interesting measurements of the Standard Model Higgs decays into {\bar b}b, tau+tau- and WW* may be possible if the Higgs mass is less than about 160 GeV, as preferred by the precision electroweak data, the mass range being extended by varying appropriately the beam energy resolution. A suitable value of the beam energy resolution would also enable the uncertainty in the b-quark mass to be minimized, facilitating measurements of parameters in the MSSM at such a first mu+mu- Higgs factory. These meas…
We outline the unique role of a muon collider as a Higgs factory for Higgs boson resonance production in the $s$-channel. Physics examples include: the precision measurements of the Higgs mass and total width, and the resulting ability to discriminate between the SM-like Higgs bosons of different models such as between a light SM Higgs boson and the light Higgs boson of the MSSM; the determination of the spin and coupling via the $h\to \tautau$ decay mode; differentiation of two nearly degenerate heavy Higgs bosons by an energy scan; and the ability to explore a general extended Higgs sector, …
