In this paper, we study the triple top quark production at the future high-energy proton-proton colliders to probe the four-fermion interactions involving three top quarks. We employ the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) to find the upper limits at $95\%$ CL on the Wilson coefficients of these kinds of four-fermion operators. We consider a detailed analysis with a unique signal signature of two same-sign leptons. A full simulation chain includes all the relevant backgrounds, realistic detector simulations and a cut-based technique are taken into account. This study is presented for the HE-LHC working at the center of mass energy of 27 TeV with 15~ab$^{-1}$ and FCC-hh working at the center of mass energy of 100 TeV with 30~ab$^{-1}$. We show that the future high-energy proton-proton colliders could reach an impressive sensitivity to four-fermion contact interactions involving three top quarks.
I discuss strategies for probing CP properties in the top quark system at $e^-e^+$ and hadron Colliders. The magnitudes of CP violation effects predicted by various models are reviewed. I also discuss the potential of various current and future colliders in measuring the CP asymmetry associated with the productions and/or decays of the top quarks.
We sketch some of our recent studies on probing strongly interacting electroweak symmetry breaking mechanism at high energy colliders such as the CERN LHC and the future e(+)e(-) linear collider. The study includes both model-dependent and model-independent probes.
The theoretical structure of the Higgs sector of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) is briefly described. An outline of Higgs phenomenology at future lepton colliders is presented, and some opportunities for probing the physics of the MSSM Higgs sector at an e-e- collider are considered.
In this report, we give the Balitsky Fadin Kuraev Lipton formalism for jet gap jet events at hadronic colliders. We also discuss the case where in addition at least one proton is intact in the final state in diffractive events.
We examine anomalous ZZH and gammaZH interactions in the process e+e- -> HZ followed by Z -> l+l- at a linear collider. We study the effects of beam polarization, both longitudinal and transverse, in probing these anomalous couplings. We study various correlations constructed out of the initial and final state lepton momenta and the spins of electron and positron. We evaluate the sensitivity of these observables to probe anomalous couplings at the linear collider.
Anomalous chromomagnetic and chromoelectric dipole moments of the top quark may arise from various high scale theories. We carry out a model independent study of such interactions focusing on the limits that can be obtained from current Tevatron data and the improvements that may be possible at the LHC or at a future Linear Collider.
In this review we demonstrate physics potential of a photon linear collider by studying the neutral Higgs-boson sector of the MSSM in which interesting CP-violating Higgs mixing could arise via radiative corrections.
We briefly review the recent developments of probing the electroweak symmetry breaking mechanism at high energy colliders such as the CERN LEP2, the Fermilab Tevatron, the CERN LHC and the e(+)e(-) linear colliders. Both weakly interacting and strongly interacting electroweak symmetry breaking mechanisms are concerned.
The International Linear Collider (ILC) will be able to precisely measure the electroweak couplings of the top in e+e- -> tt~. We compare the limits which can be achieved at the ILC with those which can be obtained in tt~gamma$ and tt~Z production at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
We describe how to probe new physics through large CP violation effects and non--standard Z-t-t couplings via the scattering process e^-e^+ -> t tbar. [Talk presented at the Workshop on Physics and Experiments with Linear $e^+e^-$ Colliders, Waikoloa, Hawaii, 26-30 April 1993.]
Chromomagnetic and chromoelectric dipole interactions of the top quark are studied in a model independent framework. Limits are set on the scale of new physics that might lead to such contributions using available Tevatron data. Prospects at the LHC are reviewed.
The SU(3)$_L\otimesU(1)_N$ electroweak model predicts new Higgs bosons beyond the one of the standard model. In this work we investigate the signature and production of doubly charged Higgs bosons in the $e^-e^+$ International Linear Collider and in the CERN Linear Collider. We compute the branching ratios for the doubly charged gauge bosons of the model.
The energy spectra of the lepton(s) in eebar --> ttbar --> l^{+-}X/ l^+l^- X' at next linear colliders (NLC) are analyzed a model-independent way for arbitrary longitudinal beam polarizations as a general test of possible anomalous top-quark couplings.
We develop a precise power counting rule (a generalization of Weinberg's counting method for the nonlinear sigma model) for the electroweak theories formulated by chiral Lagrangians. Then we estimate the contributions of ``all'' next-to-leading order (NLO) bosonic operators to the amplitudes of the relevant scattering processes which can be measured at high energy colliders, such as the LHC and future Linear Colliders. Based upon these results, we globally classify the sensitivities of testing all NLO bosonic operators for probing the electroweak symmetry breaking mechanism at high energy coll…
Results of complete tree level calculations of the single top production reaction $γe \to ν\bar{t} b$ at the Next Linear Collider, including the contribution of anomalous operators to the Wtb coupling are presented. The sensitivity for probing the structure of the Wtb coupling in a model independent way is analyzed and found to be significantly higher than for comparable measurements at the Tevatron.
The cosmological phase transition with Q-balls production mechanism can explain the baryogenesis and dark matter simultaneously, where constraints on dark matter masses and reverse dilution are significantly relaxed. We study how to probe this scenario by collider signals at QCD next-to-leading order and gravitational wave signals.
We review our recent global analysis for probing the electroweak symmetry breaking (EWSB) mechanism by the universal effective Lagrangian description. After summarizing and commenting upon the current bounds for the EWSB parameters, we focus on testing them at the forthcoming high energy colliders such as the CERN LHC and the future linear colliders. We develop a precise electroweak power counting method (a la Weinberg) and formulate the longitudinal-Goldstone boson equivalence as a necessary criterion for sensitively probing the EWSB sector. Armed with these, we systematically estimate and cl…
We discuss possibilities to measure the tt-gamma and ttZ couplings at hadron and lepton colliders. We also briefly describe how these measurements can be used to constrain the parameter space of models of new physics, in particular Little Higgs models.
Extending the sensitivity to New Physics beyond the anticipated reach of the LHC is a prime aim of future colliders. This paper summarises the potential of an e+e- linear collider, at and beyond 1 TeV, using a realistic simulation of the detector response and the accelerator induced background. The possible LC energy-luminosity trade-offs offered in probing multi-TeV scales for new phenomena with electro-weak observables are also discussed.
This article presents prospects for Lorentz-violation searches with $t\bar{t}$ at the LHC and future colliders. After a short presentation of the Standard-Model Extension as a Lorentz-symmetry-breaking effective field theory, we will focus on $t\bar{t}$ production. We study the impact of Lorentz violation as a function of center-of-mass energy and evaluate the sensitivity of collider experiments to this signal.
For some choices of soft SUSY--breaking parameters, the LSP is a stable neutralino, the NLSP is a chargino almost degenerate in mass with the LSP (with mass difference $\sim m_π-$few GeV), and all other sparticles are relatively heavy. We discuss the potential of a $\sqrt{s}\sim 600\gev$ $e^+e^-$ collider for studying such models.
We consider triple Higgs boson production at a future 100 TeV proton-proton collider. We perform a survey of viable final states and compare and contrast triple production to Higgs boson pair production. Focussing on the $hhh \rightarrow (b\bar{b}) (b\bar{b}) (γγ)$ final state, we construct a baseline analysis for the Standard Model scenario and simple deformations, demonstrating that the process merits investigation in the high-luminosity phase of the future collider as a new probe of the self-coupling sector of the Higgs boson.
The CP properties of Higgs bosons can be probed through their s-channel resonance productions via photon-photon collisions by use of circularly and/or linearly polarized backscattered laser photons at a TeV-scale linear e^+ e^- collider. Exploiting this powerful tool, we investigate in detail the Higgs sector of the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model with explicit CP violation.
A detailed analysis of ZZ production at the upgraded Fermilab Tevatron and the CERN Large Hadron Collider is presented for general ZZZ and ZZγcouplings. Deviations from the Standard Model gauge theory structure for each of these can be parameterized in terms of two form factors which are severely restricted by unitarity at high energy. Achievable limits on these couplings are shown to be a dramatic improvement over the limits currently obtained by e^+e^- experiments.
We study the effects of heavy Higgs bosons on the top-pair production process at photon linear colliders. The interference patterns between the resonant Higgs-production amplitudes and the continuum QED amplitudes are examined. The patterns tell us not only the CP nature of the Higgs bosons but also the phase of the $γγ$--Higgs vertex which gives new information about the Higgs couplings to new charged particles.
Using the facts that in Gauge-Mediated Supersymmetry Breaking schemes, masses of the right and the left sfermions can differ widely, and the gravitino is the Lightest Supersymmetric Particle, we show that it is possible to obtain unambiguous signatures of such schemes in a high energy $e^+e^-$ collider if one looks at the asymmetries in the cross-sections for certain final states with left-and right-polarized beams.
We suggest a method for probing the quark content of the photon using $b$ tagging at high energy $e^+e^-$ and $eγ$ colliders. We find that heavy quark tagging provides a sensitive and effective probe of the quark content of the photon especially in the low $x$-region where the various models differ the most. This process is complementary to others that have been studied in the literature and can contribute to more precise determinations of quark and gluon distributions inside the photon.
In this white paper for the Snowmass process, we discuss the prospects of probing new physics explanations of the persistent rare $B$ decay anomalies with a muon collider. If the anomalies are indirect signs of heavy new physics, non-standard rates for $μ^+ μ^- \to b s$ production should be observed with high significance at a muon collider with center of mass energy of $\sqrt{s} = 10$ TeV. The forward-backward asymmetry of the $b$-jet provides diagnostics of the chirality structure of the new physics couplings. In the absence of a signal, $μ^+ μ^- \to b s$ can indirectly probe new physics sca…
In the Randall-Sundrum model, the radion-Higgs mixing is weakly suppressed by the effective electroweak scale. A novel feature of the gravity-scalar mixing would be a sizable three-point vertex of $\grav$-$h$-$ϕ$. We explore the potential of photon colliders, achieved by the laser backscattering technique, in probing the radion-Higgs mixing via the associated production of the radion with the Higgs boson. The advantage of photon colliders is the capability of adjusting the polarization of the incoming photons such that the signal of the spin-2 graviton exchange can be largely enhanced. The enh…
We classify the sensitivities of the future high energy hadron and electron colliders, such as the LHC and the future Linear Colliders, to probing all the next-to-leading order (NLO) bosonic operators for studying the electroweak symmetry breaking (EWSB) mechanism. We first develop a power counting rule (a generalization of Weinberg's counting method for the nonlinear sigma model) for the electroweak theories formulated by the chiral Lagrangian. Then, we formulate the Longitudinal-Goldstone Boson Equivalence Theorem as a physical criterion to discriminate the scattering processes that are not …
A new handed interaction between subconstituents of quarks could be at the origin of some small parity violating effects in one-jet inclusive production. Within a few years, the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) will be used as a polarized proton-proton collider. In this context, we analyse the possibilities of disentangling some new parity violating effects from the standard spin asymmetries which are expected due to the Standard Model QCD-Weak interference. We also explore the possibilities of placing some more stringent limits on the quark compositeness scale $Λ$ thanks to measurements…
In this talk I will illustrate with two examples (Higgsino dark matter and Exotic Higgs decays) how electron-proton colliders present unique opportunities to probe BSM scenarios where proton-proton colliders fall short due to the experimental difficulties in reconstructing the signal due to the large hadronic backgrounds. The leit-motiv of these examples are long-lived particles (LLPs), which have received recently a lot of attention from both the experimental and theoretical communities. We find that the proposed $e^-p$ colliders can be competitive against their more energetic $pp$ incarnatio…
The sensitivity of various angular and energy distributions to the CP of a Higgs candidate are considered for the process $e^-e^- -> e^-e^-h$, where h is either a scalar or a pseudoscalar Higgs. This process may differ from the corresponding production at an $e^+e^-$ collider in the availability of both beams being polarized. Beam polarization enhances the sensitivity of the azimuthal distribution.
We study the signatures of the triplet-quadruplet dark matter model at the LHC and future colliders, including the 100 TeV Super Proton-Proton Collider and the 240 GeV Circular Electron Positron Collider. The dark sector in this model contains one fermionic electroweak triplet and two fermionic quadruplets, which have two kinds of Yukawa couplings to the Higgs doublet. Electroweak production signals of the dark sector fermions in the $\text{monojet}+/\!\!\!\!E_\mathrm{T}$, disappearing track, and $\text{multilepton}+/\!\!\!\!E_\mathrm{T}$ channels at the LHC and the Super Proton-Proton Collide…
The sensitivities to anomalous quartic photon couplings at the Large Hadron Collider are estimated using diphoton production via photon fusion. The tagging of the protons proves to be a very powerful tool to suppress the background and unprecedented sensitivities down to $6 \cdot 10^{-15}$\gev$^{-4}$ are obtained, providing a new window on extra dimensions and strongly-interacting composite states in the multi-TeV range. Generic contributions to quartic photon couplings from charged and neutral particles with arbitrary spin are also presented.
We study the prospects for probing the quark content of the photon using b tagging at high energy electron-photon colliders. We find that heavy quark tagging provides a sensitive and effective probe of the quark content of the photon. Using a 500 GeV $e^+e^-$\ NLC in electron-photon mode, the cross section for $eb_γ\rightarrow eb$\ can be measured to 10\% with b tagging. This is sufficient to differentiate between the various photon structure functions.
We study collider signals for the noncommutative extension of the standard model using the Seiberg-Witten maps for SU(3)_C x SU(2)_L x U(1)_Y to first order in the noncommutativity parameters theta_munu. In particular, we investigate the ensitivity of Z-gamma-production at the Tevatron and the LHC to the components of theta_munu. We discuss the range of validity of this approximation and estimate exclusion limits from a Monte Carlo simulation.
In terms of an effective Lagrangian we investigate the possibilities of probing anomalous top quark couplings, $t \bar{t} H$, $γt \bar{t}$, $Z t \bar{t}$ and $tWb$ at the future linear colliders. It is found that probing anomalous top quark couplings, $t \bar{t} H$, $γt \bar{t}$, $Z t \bar{t}$ and $tWb$ at the future linear colliders. It is found that at a linear collider with a c.m.energy $\sqrt s \sim 0.5-1.5$ TeV and a high luminosity of 10-1000 fb$^{-1}$, $e^+e^- \to t \bar{t} H$ is an ideal process in probing anomalous $t \bar t H$ couplings. We also study in detail the effects of anomalo…
The transverse-momentum ($Q_T$) distribution of low-mass Drell-Yan pairs is calculated in QCD perturbation theory with all-order resummation of $α_s (α_s \ln(Q^2_T/Q^2))^n$ type terms. We demonstrate that the rapidity distribution of low-mass Drell-Yan pairs at large-enough transverse momentum is an advantageous source of constraints on the gluon distribution and its nuclear dependence. We argue that low-mass Drell-Yan pairs in the forward region provide a good and clean probe of small-$x$ gluons at collider energies.
We study the production processes $e^+e^-\to H^0_iZ$, $H^0_iH^0_j$ and $H^0_iν_e\overline ν_e$ in the context of the CP violating MSSM. In a given channel we show that the cross-section for all i (=1,2,3) can be above 0.1 fb provided $M_{H_{2,3}}\la 300$ GeV. This should be detectable at a Next Linear Collider and would provide evidence for scalar-pseudoscalar mixing.
We explore the sensitivities at future $e^-e^+$ colliders to probe a set of six-dimensional operators which can modify the SM predictions on Higgs physics and electroweak precision measurements. We consider the case in which the operators are turned on simultaneously. Such an analysis yields a "conservative" interpretation on the collider sensitivities, complementary to the "optimistic" scenario where the operators are individually probed. After a detail analysis at CEPC in both "conservative" and "optimistic" scenarios, we also considered the sensitivities for FCC-ee and ILC. As an illustrati…
We explore the capability of a 500 or 1000 GeV $e^+e^-$ linear collider to measure anomalous quartic gauge boson couplings. In the framework of a non-linear effective Lagrangian with a custodial $SU)2)$ symmetry, there are only two next-to-leading order operators which contribute to quartic, but not to two- and three- gauge boson interactions. The limits on the coefficients of these operators from present and future $e^+e^-$ colliders are compared with those available from other sources.
We study the complementarity of the proposed multi-TeV muon colliders and the near-future gravitational wave (GW) detectors to the first order electroweak phase transition (FOEWPT), taking the real scalar extended Standard Model as the representative model. A detailed collider simulation shows the FOEWPT parameter space can be greatly probed via the the vector boson fusion production of the singlet, and its subsequent decay to the di-Higgs or di-boson channels. Especially, almost all the parameter space yielding detectable GW signals can be probed by the muon colliders. Therefore, if we could …
In this article we study the effect of Hg contact interaction on H production by gluon fusion at at a hadron collider. Two such d=6 operators have been considered. The present precision for measuring α_s implies a lower bound of around 2 Tev on the scale for the CP even operator O_1. On the other hand the precision for measuring d_n implies a lower bound of 10^5 TeV on the scale for the CP odd operator. We show that for the above lower bound O_1 can significantly affect the parton level cross-section for the process gg-->H.
The signature of heavy fermionic triplets belonging to Type III seesaw at the International Linear Collider (ILC) is probed. Presence of charged fermionic triplets upto a mass of about $ 750$ GeV could be established through single production at a 1 TeV ILC with moderate luminosity of 300 fb$^{-1}$, assuming a fermion triplet-electron mixing of about 0.05. Unlike the case of LHC, the production process is highly sensitive to the mixing, making the process interesting. The single production of neutral triplet is found to be somewhat harder, considering the large SM background present. Pair prod…
The feasibility of an experimental determination of the parton distributions of virtual photons at high energy $ep$ colliders is studied in the context of the DESY-HERA collider. Recently proposed parton densities of virtual photons are utilized to evaluate the appropriate production processes and their relevant kinematical regions. It is demonstrated that high $E_T$ jet production with $E_T\,\simeq 5-7\, {\rm{GeV}}$ and $b\bar{b}$ production can probe the parton distributions of virtual photons up to virtualities of a few ${\rm{GeV}}^2$. A useful leading order parametrization of our proposed …
The exotic decay modes of non-Standard Model Higgs bosons are efficient in probing the hierarchical Two Higgs Doublet Models (2HDM). In particular, the decay mode $H^\pm\to HW^\pm$ serves as a powerful channel in searching for charged Higgses. In this paper, we analyzed the reach for $H^\pm\to HW^\pm \to t\bar{t}W$ at a 100 TeV $pp$ collider, and showed that it extends the reach of the previously studied $ττW$ final states once above the top threshold. Top tagging technique is used, in combination with the boosted decision tree classifier. Almost the entire hierarchical Type-II 2HDM parameter …
The lightest supersymmetric particle may decay with branching ratios that correlate with neutrino oscillation parameters. In this case the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has the potential to probe the atmospheric neutrino mixing angle with sensitivity competitive to its low-energy determination by underground experiments. Under realistic detection assumptions, we identify the necessary conditions for the experiments at CERN's LHC to probe the simplest scenario for neutrino masses induced by minimal supergravity with bilinear R parity violation.
It has been argued in the literature that the search for the slepton oscillation phenomenon can be a powerful probe of intergenerational mixing between sleptons, once sleptons are found at future colliders. In this article we estimate possible reach of future lepton colliders in probing left-handed slepton flavor mixing, especially mixing between the first and third generations, on which constraints imposed by other processes like $τ\to e γ$ are very weak. $e^+e^-$ collider is suitable for this purpose, since it can produce, if kinematically allowed, sleptons of the first generation via t-chan…
We study the triple Higgs self-coupling at future $e^{+}e^{-}$ colliders energies, with the reactions $e^{+}e^{-}\to b \bar b HH$ and $e^{+}e^{-}\to t \bar t HH$. We evaluate the total cross section of $b\bar bHH$, $t\bar tHH$ and calculate the total number of events considering the complete set of Feynman diagrams at tree-level. The sensitivity of the triple Higgs coupling is considered in the Higgs mass range 110-190 $GeV$, for the energy which is expected to be available at a possible Next Linear $e^{+}e^{-}$ Collider with a center-of-mass energy $800, 1000, 1500$ $GeV$ and luminosity 1000 …
If supersymmetry is spontaneously at a low energy scale then the resulting gravitino would be very light. The interaction strength of the longitudinal components of such a light gravitino to electron-selectron pair then becomes comparable to that of electroweak interactions. Such a light gravitino could modify the cross-section for $e^_L e^_R-->\tilde {e}_L\tilde {e}_R$ from its MSSM value. Precision measurement of this cross-section could therefore be used to probe the low energy SUSY breaking scale.
In the framework of minimal flavor violation (MFV), we discuss the decay properties of a supersymmetric scalar top (stop) in the presence of a light gravitino. Given a small mass difference between the lighter stop and lightest neutralino and an otherwise sufficiently decoupled spectrum, the stop may be long-lived and thus can provide support to MFV at hadron colliders. For a bino-like lightest neutralino, we apply bounds from searches in the gamma gamma plus missing transverse energy channel (ATLAS with 1 fb^-1 and D0 with 6.3 fb^-1) and give a 5 fb^-1 projection for the ATLAS search.
The novel feature of a Higgs-triplet representation is a nonzero tree-level coupling of $H^+ W^- Z$, which is absent in all Higgs-doublet models. We study the associated production of a singly-charged Higgs boson of the Higgs-triplet representation with a $W$ or $Z$ boson at hadron colliders, followed by the $H^+ \to W^+ Z$ decay. We find that the $2\ell+4j$ final state gives an interesting level of signal with a negligible background, plus it allows a full mass reconstruction of the charged-Higgs boson. The cover range of the charged-Higgs mass is between 110 and 200 GeV.
Fermion compositeness and other new physics can be signalled by the presence of a strong four-fermion contact interaction. Here we present a study of $\ell\ell qq$ and $\ell\ell\ell'\ell'$ contact interactions using the reactions: $\ell^+ \ell^- \to \ell'^+\ell'^-,b\bar b, c\bar c$ at future $e^+e^-$ linear colliders with $\sqrt s=0.5-5$ TeV and $μ^+μ^-$ colliders with $\sqrt s=0.5,4$ TeV. We find that very large compositeness scales can be probed at these machines and that the use of polarized beams can unravel their underlying helicity structure.
The production of triple Higgs $(H^+H^-H^0)$, $(H^+H^-h^0)$ and pair wise charged Higgs boson $(H^+H^-)$ is studied in the context of future linear colliders within the Two-Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) type II. The aim is to compare sources of charged Higgs pair through the above processes, i.e., double and triple Higgs production. Cross-sections are calculated at the leading order in 2HDM type II and Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). Several orders of magnitude ($\sim 10^{4}$) enhancement is observed in 2HDM compared to MSSM, while no sizable enhancement is seen in muon collider ver…
A direct measurement of the trilinear $WWγ$ and $WWZ$ couplings is possible in the pair production of electroweak bosons at $e^+e^-$ and hadron colliders. This talk addresses some of the theoretical issues: the parameterization of ``anomalous couplings'' in terms of form factors and effective Lagrangians, the complementary information which can be obtained in $e^+e^-$ vs. hadron collider experiments, and a novel way to implement finite $W$-width effects in a gauge invariant manner.
