Cosmic voids - the low density regions in the Universe - as characteristic features of the large scale matter distribution, are known for their hyperbolic properties. The latter implies the deviation of photon beams due to their underdensity, thus mimicing the negative curvature. We now show that the hyperbolicity can be induced not only by negative curvature or underdensity but also depends on the anisotropy of the photon beams.
Cosmic voids as typical under-density regions in the large scale Universe are known for their hyperbolic properties as an ability to deviate the photon beams. The currently released datasets of the observational surveys reveal the redshift dependence of the physical features of cosmic voids. We study the void induced hyperbolicity, that is the deviation of the photon beams propagating the voids, taking into account the redshift dependence of the void size indicated by the observational surveys. We apply our tetrad-based approach for constructing spherically-symmetric solutions in general relativity to modelling a void, and compare it with the standard Lemaître-Tolman-Bondi (LTB) formalism. In particular, we construct models for the void observed in the direction of Draco in the WISE-2MASS galaxy survey, and a corresponding cosmic microwave background (CMB) temperature decrement in the Planck data in the same direction. The degree of randomness in the cosmic microwave background (CMB) maps has been shown to be measurable and indicative of the hyperbolic effect of voids on the propagation of the photon beams. In terms of an introduced porosity parameter, we now obtain the criterion for a hyperbolicity due to domination of voids in the line-of-sight direction. The criterion seems to be supported by the parameters of 30 Mpc scale voids revealed by the galactic redshift surveys. In this paper we present well-posedness results of the wave equation in $H^{1}$ for spacetimes that contain string-like singularities. These results extend a framework able to characterise gravitational singularities as obstruction to the dynamics of test fields rather than point particles. In particular, we discuss spacetimes with cosmic strings and the relation of our results to the Strong Cosmic Censorship Conjecture.
We present a class of general prolate and oblate spheroidal spacetimes for the description of cosmic structures in the Universe. They are exact geometries which represent, in an appropriated way, the imbedding of spheroidal matter-energy distributions within a standard cosmological scenario, and therefore they allow for an improved description of a wider class of astrophysical systems from a more accurate point of view. The symmetron field has an environment (density) dependent behavior which is a common feature of the models with the screening mechanism and results in a rich phenomenology. This model can produce domain walls between regions with different densities. We consider this aspect and study the physics of domain walls in between (underdensity) voids and (overdensity) halo structures. The (spherical) domain walls exert a repulsive force on a test mass outside of the wall while a test mass inside of the wall sees no force. Starting from the geometrical concept of a 4-dimensional de-Sitter configuration of spheres in Euclidean 3-space and modelling voids in the Universe as spheres, we show that a uniform distribution over this configuration space implies a power-law for the void number density which is consistent with results from the excursion set formalism and with data, for an intermediate range of void volumes. The scaling dimension of the large scale structure can be estimated as well. We also discuss the effect of restricting the survey geometry on the void statistics. We present a simple empirical function for the average density profile of cosmic voids, identified via the watershed technique in $Λ$CDM N-body simulations. This function is universal across void size and redshift, accurately describing a large radial range of scales around void centers with only two free parameters. In analogy to halo density profiles, these parameters describe the scale radius and the central density of voids. Using computer simulations we study the geometry of a typical quantum universe, i.e. the geometry one might expect before a possible period of inflation. We display it using coordinates defined by means of four classical scalar fields satisfying the Laplace equation with non-trivial boundary conditions. The field configurations reveal cosmic web structures surprisingly similar to the ones observed in the present-day Universe. Inflation might make these structures relevant for our Universe.

We undertake a non-perturbative study of the evolution of the "gravitational entropy" proposed by Clifton, Ellis and Tavakol (CET) on local expanding cosmic CDM voids of $\sim 50-100$ Mpc size described as spherical under-dense regions with negative spatial curvature, whose dynamics is determined by Lemaitre-Tolman-Bondi (LTB) dust models asymptotic to three different types of FLRW background: $Λ$CDM, Einstein de Sitter and "open" FLRW with $Λ=0$ and negative spatial curvature. We perform a comprehensive redshift-space distortion analysis based on cosmic voids in the large-scale distribution of galaxies observed with the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. To this end, we measure multipoles of the void-galaxy cross-correlation function and compare them with standard model predictions in cosmology.
