For photon virtualities of $Q^2 \gsim 20 {\rm GeV}^2$, the results of the (hard Pomeron) fit in the tensor-Pomeron model in terms of the variables $Q^2$ and the virtual-photon-proton energy squared, $W^2$, provide empirical evidence for the validity of the Color Dipole Picture (CDP). Consistency of the CDP with the perturbative QCD (pQCD) improved parton model implies the prediction of $C_2 = ε_0 \cong 0.30$ for the exponent $C_2$ of the energy-squared dependence in agreement with the results of the fits. For $Q^2 \lsim 20 GeV^2$, the CDP yields a parameter-free smooth transition from $Q^2 \gsim 20 {\rm GeV}^2$ to $Q^2 = 0$ photoproduction, in distinction from the tensor-Pomeron model that relies on the additional parameter quantifying the intercept of the soft-Pomeron trajectory.
Pomeron loop effects (gluon number fluctuations) on deep inelastic scattering (DIS) in the fixed coupling case are studied. We show that the description of the HERA data for the inclusive structure function $F_2(x,Q^2)$ for $x\leq10^{-2}$ and $0.045\leq Q^2\leq 45GeV^2$ is improved once pomeron loop effects are included.
Misprints and numerical coefficients corrected, a bit of phenomenology and one figure added. The case for the linear evolution of the unitarized structure functions made stronger.
We have substantially extended our analysis of the partonic content of the pomeron. Ambiguities in the normalization of the pomeron flux and the possiblity of a direct coupling of the pomeron to single quarks are discussed, yielding two equally possible scenarios for the parton distributions in the pomeron. We discuss various experimental tests of these scenarios.
Recent experimental data on diffractive deep inelastic scattering collected by the H1 and ZEUS Collaborations at HERA are analysed in a model with a non-linear trajectory in the pomeron flux. The $t$ dependence of the diffractive structure function $F_2^{D(4)}$ is predicted. The normalization of the pomeron flux and the (weak) $Q^2$ dependence of the pomeron structure function are revised as well.
We study the contribution of diffractive $Q \bar Q$ production to the $F_2^D$ proton structure function and the longitudinal double-spin asymmetry in polarized deep--inelastic $lp$ scattering. We show the strong dependence of the $F_2^D$ structure function and the $A_{ll}$ asymmetry on the quark--pomeron coupling structure.
The paper presents the QCD description of the small $x$ behaviour of parton distribution functions in the leading twist of Wilson operator product expansion. The smooth transition between the cases of the soft and hard Pomerons is obtained. The results are in qualitative agreement with deep inelastic experimental data.
We discuss some properties of the Pomeron in high energy elastic hadron-hadron and deep inelastic lepton-hadron scattering. A number of issues concerning the nature and the origin of the Pomeron are briefly recalled here. The novelty in this paper resides essentially in its presentation; we strive at discussing all these various issues in the following unifying perspective : it is our contention that the Pomeron is one and the same in all reactions. Various examples will be provided illustrating why we do not believe that one should invoke additional tools to describe the data. For pedagogical…
Deep-inelastic diffractive scaling provides fundamental insight into the QCD pomeron. It is argued that single gluon domination of the structure function, together with the well-known Regge pole property, determines that the pomeron carries color-charge parity $ C_c = -1~$ and, at short distances, is in a super-critical phase of Reggeon Field Theory. The main purpose of the talk is to describe the relationship of the super-critical pomeron to QCD.
In the holographic or AdS/CFT dual to QCD, the Pomeron is identified with a Reggeized Graviton in $AdS_5$. We emphasize the importance of confinement, which in this context corresponds to a deformation of $AdS_5$ geometry in the IR. The holographic Pomeron provides a very good fit to the combined data from HERA for Deep Inelastic Scattering at small $x$, lending new confidence to this AdS dual approach to high energy diffractive scattering.
Properties of multiparticle final states produced in the central rapidity region of small-x deep inelastic scattering (DIS) are discussed. It is pointed out that these properties contain important information on the nature of the Pomeron - used for the description of total cross section and diffractive production in DIS. It is shown that models based on universality of the Pomeron predict charged particle multiplicities in small-x DIS which are in good agreement with recent HERA results.
A brief review on the Dipole Pomeron model is given. The model not only describes data on hadron-hadron interactions, but also allows to describe data on the proton structure function with a $Q^2$ independent intercept. Moreover the chosen Dipole Pomeron has an intercept equal to one and does not violate unitarity limit on the total elastic cross-section.
We apply the tensor-pomeron model to small-$x$ deep-inelastic lepton-proton scattering and photoproduction. Our model includes a soft and a hard tensor pomeron as well as a reggeon contribution. Data with c.m. energies $6 < \sqrt{s} < 318$ GeV and virtualities $Q^2 < 50 \,\mbox{GeV}^2$ are considered. Our fit gives a very good description of the available data in this kinematic region, including the latest HERA data for $x < 0.01$. In particular, the transition region from low to high $Q^2$ is well described. Within the errors, the hard pomeron is absent in photoproduction. The intercepts of t…
Elements of the pomeron phenomenology within the Regge pole exchange picture are recalled. This includes discussion of the high energy behaviour of total cross-sections, the triple pomeron limit of the diffractive dissociation and the single particle distributions in the central region. The BFKL pomeron and QCD expectations for the small $x$ behaviour of the deep inelastic scattering structure functions are discussed. The dedicated measurements of the hadronic final state in deep inelastic scattering at small $x$ probing the QCD pomeron are described. The deep inelastic diffraction is also dis…
In the framework of semihard (k$_T$ factorization) QCD approach, we consider the differential cross sections of $D^{*\pm}$ meson production at HERA. The consideration is based on BFKL and CCFM gluon distributions. We find that in the case of BFKL LO gluon distribution the theoretical results are sensitive to the Pomeron intercept parameter $Δ$. We present a comparison of the theoretical results with available ZEUS experimental data.
We calculate shadowing in the process of deep inelastic interactions of leptons with nuclei in the perturbative regime of QCD. We find appreciable shadowing for heavy nuclei (e.g. Pb) in the region of small Bjorken scaling variable $10^{-5}\leq x \leq 10^{-3}$. This shadowing depends weakly on $Q^2$, but it may be strongly influenced, especially at $x \geq 10^{-3}$, by the existence of real parts of the forward scattering amplitudes.
We present a BFKL phenomenology of structure functions in the framework of the generalized BFKL equation for the dipole cross section proposed by us recently. We show that the HERA measurements of excitation of charm at $Q^{2} \lsim $10 GeV$^{2}$ allow determination of the intercept of the BFKL pomeron. A comparison with the experimental data suggests a large contribution from the nonperturbative cross section for colour dipoles of large size $r$.
The small-$t$ behaviour of the deep inelastic diffractive dissociation cross section in the triple Regge region is investigated, using the BFKL approximation in perturbative QCD. We show that the cross section is finite at $t=0$, but the diffusion in $\ln{k_t^2}$ leads to a large contribution of small momenta at the triple Pomeron vertex. We study the dependence upon the total energy and the invariant mass. At $t=0$, there is a decoupling of the three BFKL singularities which is a consequence of the conservation of the conformal dimension. For large invariant masses, the four gluon state in th…
We demonstrate that the azimuthal dependence of central meson production in hadronic collisions, when suitably binned, provides unambiguous tests of whether the Pomeron couples like a conserved vector-current to protons. We discuss the possibility of discriminating between q-qbar and glueball production in such processes. Our predictions apply also to meson production in tagged two-photon events at electron--positron colliders and to vector-meson production in ep collisions at HERA.
Diffractive deep inelastic events with a large rapidity gap are analyzed by using a Regge model for the pomeron flux and a gluonic content for the pomeron. Contrary to the expectations, the simplest assumption for the pomeron trajectory gives the best agreement with the data on the ratio of diffractive to the total number of events. In this case the main properties of the model are described by an analytic expression.
We present the microscopic QCD evaluation of the secondary reggeon contribution to diffractive DIS. It is shown that the interference between Pomeron and Reggeon enters in the maximal possible way. In the region of large $β\simeq 1$ it is shown, that the structure functions of the Reggeon and Pomeron as well as the Reggeon-Pomeron interference SF have a universal $\sim (1-β)^2$ behaviour.
We perform a novel type of analysis of diffractive deep-inelastic scattering data, in which the input parton distributions of the Pomeron are parameterised using the perturbative QCD expressions. In particular, we treat individually the components of the Pomeron of different size. We are able to describe simultaneously both the recent ZEUS and H1 diffractive data. In addition to the usual two-gluon model for the perturbative Pomeron, we allow for the possibility that it may be made from two sea quarks.
Using the largest data set available, we determine the best values that the data at t=0 (total cross sections and real parts of the hadronic amplitudes) give for the intercepts and couplings of the soft pomeron and of the rho/omega and a/f trajectories. We show that these data cannot discriminate between a simple-pole fit and asymptotic log square s and log s fits, and hence are not sufficient to reveal the ultimate nature of the pomeron. However, we evaluate the existing evidence (factorization, universality, quark counting) favouring the simple-pole hypothesis. We also examine the range of v…
A further analysis of inelastic diffraction data at the ISR and SPS-Collider confirms the relatively flat s-independent pomeron trajectory in the high-|t| domain, 1-2 GeV^2, reported earlier by the UA8 Collaboration. At |t| = 1.5 GeV^2, alpha = 0.92 +/- 0.03 is in agreement with the trajectories found in diffractive photoproduction of vector mesons at HERA. This suggests a universal fixed Pomeron trajectory at high-|t|. We also show that a triple-Regge Pomeron-exchange parametrization fit to the data requires an s-dependent (effective) Pomeron trajectory intercept, alpha(0), which decreases wi…
Recent results by the authors on proton diffractive dissociation (single, double and central) in the low-mass resonance region with emphasis on the LHC kinematics are reviewed and updated. Based on the previous ideas that the contribution of the inelastic proton-Pomeron vertex can be described by the proton structure function, the contribution of the inelastic Pomeron-Pomeron vertex appearing in central diffraction is now described by a Pomeron structure function.
A simple model for elastic diffractive hadron scattering, reproducing the dip-bump structure is used to analyze PP and $\bar PP$ scattering. The main emphasis is on the delicate and non-trivial dynamics in the dip-bump region, near t=-1 GeV$^2$. The simplicity of the model and the expected smallness of the absorption corrections enables one the control of various contributions to the scattering amplitude, in particular the interplay between the C-even and C-odd components of the amplitude, as well as their relative contribution, changing with s and t. The role of the non-linearity of the Regge…
We show how the sum of a hard singularity, $F_{2H}(x,Q^2_0)\sim x^{-λ}$ and a soft Pomeron $F_{2P}(x,Q^2_0)\sim Const.$ for the singlet piece of the structure function $F_{2S}=F_{2H}+F_{2P}$ for $Q_0^2\sim a few GeV^2$, plus a saturating expression for the strong coupling, $\tildeα_s(Q^2)=4π/β_0 log[(Q^2+Λ^2)/Λ^2]$ give an excellent description of experiment i) For small Q^2, $0\lsim Q^2\leq 8.5 GeV^2$, and ii) For large Q^2, $10\lsim Q^2\leq 1 500 GeV^2$ if evolved with QCD. The x range is $6\times10^{-6}\lsim x \lsim 0.04$. The description for low Q^2 implies self-consistent values for the p…
The QCD analysis of deep inelastic diffractive scattering is performed assuming the dominance of the "soft" pomeron exchange and simple, physically motivated parametrization of parton distributions in a pomeron. Results of the analysis are compared with the recent data obtained by the H1 collaboration at HERA. Both the LO and NLO approximations are considered and the theoretical predictions concerning the quantity $R=F_L^D/F_T^D$ for diffractive structure functions are presented.
We derive the nonlinear k_\perp-factorization for the spectrum of jets in high-mass diffractive deep inelastic scattering as a function of three hard scales - the virtuality of the photon Q^2, the transverse momentum of the jet and the saturation scale Q_A. In contrast to all other hard reactions studied so far, we encounter a clash between the two definitions of the glue in the pomeron -- from the inclusive spectrum of leading quarks and the small-βevolution of the diffractive cross section. This clash casts a further shadow on customary applications of the familiar collinear factorization to…
The dependence of the fractal behaviors of the pomeron induced system in deep inelastic lepton-nucleon scattering upon the diffractive kinematic variables is found rather robust and not sensitive to the distinct parameterization of the pomeron flux factor and structure function. A feasible experimental test of the phenomenological pomeron-exchanged model based on the fractal measurement in DESY $ep$ collider HERA is proposed.
We examine the process of Deep Inelastic Scattering (DIS) in the small-x limit, where Pomeron exchange dominates. Using the AdS/CFT correspondence, we study Pomeron exchange in the dual string theory in AdS space, which allows us to study DIS at strong coupling. Two possibilities are examined, a purely conformal model, and a model with a hard-wall cutoff introduced to take into account the effects of confinement. Comparing our calculations with HERA DIS data, we find a very good agreement not only at large $Q^2$ dominated by conformal symmetry, but due to our strong coupling approach which all…
We argue that deep-inelastic diffractive scaling provides fundamental insight into the QCD Pomeron. The logarithmic scaling violations seen experimentally are in conflict with the scale-invariance of the BFKL Pomeron and with phenomenological two-gluon models. Instead the Pomeron appears as a single gluon at short-distances, indicating the appearance of a Super-Critical phase of Reggeon Field Theory. That the color compensation takes place at a longer distance is consistent with the Pomeron carrying odd color charge parity.
The tensor-pomeron model is applied to low-x deep-inelastic lepton-nucleon scattering and photoproduction. We consider c.m. energies in the range 6 - 318 GeV and Q^2 < 50 GeV^2. In addition to the soft tensor pomeron, which has proven quite successful for the description of soft hadronic high-energy reactions, we include a hard tensor pomeron. We also include f_2-reggeon exchange which turns out to be particularly relevant for real-photon-proton scattering at c.m. energies in the range up to 30 GeV. The combination of these exchanges permits a description of the absorption cross sections of re…
The first measurement of diffractive processes in deep inelastic scattering at the HERA collider is analysed in terms of a "soft" pomeron exchange model. The partonic structure of the pomeron which emerges in this picture is determined using the QCD parton model. The important role of the gluonic component in the partonic interpretation of the data is particularly emphasized.
We present a unified direct calculation of the triple-pomeron coupling $A_{3\Pom}(Q^{2})$ for diffractive real photoproduction ($Q^{2}=0$) and deep inelastic scattering at large $Q^{2}$ in the framework of the dipole approach to the generalized BFKL pomeron. The small phenomenological value of $A_{3\Pom}(0)\approx 0.16$\,GeV$^{2}$, which was a mystery, is related to the small correlation radius $R_{c}\approx 0.3$\,fm for the perturbative gluons. We confirm the early expectations of weak $Q^{2}$ dependence of the dimensionfull coupling $A_{3\Pom}(Q^{2})$ and predict that it rises by the factor …
The pomeron structure function is extracted from the latest H1 data and are subject to a QCD analysis. The result shows evidence for gluon recombination.
We show that the data for the total cross section and for the real part of the elastic amplitude indicate the presence of a hard pomeron in pi p and Kp elastic scattering at t=0, compatible with that observed in deep inelastic scattering. We show that such a hard pomeron is also compatible with pp and pbar p data, provided one unitarises it at high energy.
We consider the production of charm by real and virtual photons. Special attention is paid to diffractive charm production, which provides information on the gluonic content of the Pomeron. Our calculations are based on the gluon distributions of the CKMT-model, which is shown to lead to agreement with the data on open charm production in deep inelastic scattering. We compare predictions for diffractive charm production of different models for the distribution of gluons in the Pomeron. Experiments at HERA should be able to discriminate between them. Predictions for beauty production in diffrac…
In the framework of Anisotropic Chromo Dynamics, a non-perturbative model of QCD based on magnetic condensation in the vacuum, we develope a picture of the Pomeron. Within this model we are able to calculate the diffractive contribution to deep inelastic scattering in the small Bjorken x region, actually probed at Hera. We calculate the diffractive structure function of the proton and make the comparison with the experimental data of Zeus and H1 collaborations. Good agreement with the experimental data, both for the diffractive structure function $F_2^D$ and for the ''structure function'' of t…
We compute the proton-proton multiplicity distributions at LHC energies in the framework of a multiple scattering model assuming a Poisson distribution for each inelastic collision. Multiple scattering is essential to broaden the multiplicity distribution. We obtain approximate KNO scaling for small pseudo-rapidity intervals ($|η| < 0.5$) and sizable KNO scaling violations for larger ones, in agreement with experiment.
It is proposed, that ``the colorless objects'' which manifest themselves in large-rapidity-gap events are color-singlet gluon-clusters due to self-organized criticality (SOC), and that optical-geometrical concepts and methods are useful in examing the space-time properties of such objects. A simple analytical expression for the $t$-dependence of the inelastic single diffractive cross section $dσ/dt$ ($t$ is the four-momentum transfer squared) is derived. Comparison with the existing data and predictions for future experiments are presented. The main differences and similarities between the SOC…
We discuss the observed scaling of the small-x diffractive and total deep-inelastic structure functions at HERA. We argue that the parton interpretation of Buchmüller and Hebecker can be understood within QCD as the appearance of the Pomeron in a Super-Critical phase. In diffractive hard scattering, the Pomeron appears as reggeized gluon exchange in a color-compensating background field. The formalism can also be applied to diffractive $W$ production at the Tevatron. If the scaling is a true asymptotic property then it should anticipate the appearance of a further massive sector of QCD and ass…
We show that it is possible to describe the effective Pomeron intercept, determined from the HERA Deep Inelastic Scattering data at small values of Bjorken x, using next-to-leading order BFKL evolution together with collinear improvements. To obtain a good description over the whole range of Q^2 we use a non-Abelian physical renormalization scheme with BLM optimal scale, combined with a parametrization of the running coupling in the infrared region.
Deep-inelastic diffractive scaling violations have provided fundamental insight into the QCD pomeron, suggesting a single gluon inner structure rather than that of a perturbative two-gluon bound state. This talk outlines a derivation of a high-energy, transverse momentum cut-off, confining solution of QCD. The pomeron, in first approximation, is a single reggeized gluon plus a ``wee parton'' component that compensates for the color and particle properties of the gluon. This solution corresponds to a supercritical phase of Reggeon Field Theory.
We point out that, in some models of small-x hard processes, the transition to the Pomeron regime occurs through a sudden tunneling effect, rather than a slow diffusion process. We explain the basis for such a feature and we illustrate it for the BFKL equation with running coupling by gluon rapidity versus scale correlation plots.
We present and discuss two different topics where Tevatron and HERA data can be compared directly. A method allowing for a direct comparison of data with theoretical predictions is proposed for forward jet production at HERA. An application to the determination of the effective Pomeron intercept in the BFKL-LO parametrization from $dσ/dx$ data at HERA leads to a good fit with a significantly high effective intercept, $α_P= 1.43 \pm 0.025 (stat.) \pm 0.025 (syst.)$. It is less than the value of the pomeron intercept using dijets with large rapidity intervals obtained at Tevatron. In a second pa…
I propose a two component analytic formula $F(s,t)=F^{(1)}(s,t)+F^{(2)}(s,t)$ for $(ab\rightarrow ab) +(a\bar{b}\rightarrow a\bar{b})$ scattering at energies $\ge 100 GeV$ ,where $s,t$ denote squares of c.m. energy and momentum transfer. It saturates the Froissart-Martin bound and obeys Auberson-Kinoshita-Martin (AKM) \cite{AKM1971} scaling. I choose $Im F^{(1)}(s,0)+Im F^{(2)}(s,0)$ as given by Particle Data Group (PDG) fits to total cross sections. The PDG formula is extended to non-zero momentum transfers using partial waves of $Im F^{(1)}$ and $Im F^{(2)}$ motivated by Pomeron pole and 'gre…
A Regge model of the Pomeron with intercept equal to one, leading to rising cross-sections is considered. Analysis of the experimental data on hadron and photon induced interactions is performed within the model. It is shown that the available pure hadronic data as well as data on DIS are compatible with a high energy logarithmic behaviour of cross-sections and do not require a Pomeron intercept above one. The very important rôle of the preasymptotic contributions is especially emphasized.
The double diffractive Higgs production at central rapidity is formulated in terms of the fusion of two AdS gravitons/Pomerons first introduced by Brower, Polchinski, Strassler and Tan in elastic scattering. Here we propose a simple self-consistent holographic framework capable of providing phenomenologically compelling estimates of diffractive cross sections at the LHC. As in the traditional weak coupling approach, we anticipate that several phenomenological parameters must be tested and calibrated through factorization for a self-consistent description of other diffractive process such as to…
We present predictions for the diffractive production of heavy quarks in deep-inelastic scattering and hadron-hadron collisions and for double diffractive dijet production in hadron-hadron collisions. With the assumption of hard scattering factorization, the predictions are made using diffractive parton densities that we have previously fitted to HERA data. Comparisons of our predictions with preliminary data from HERA and the Tevatron indicate that factorization is obeyed in diffractive DIS but fails in hadron-induced processes.
In the framework of our model (GLM) for soft interaction with $α'_{\pom}(0)=0$, we propose a procedure based on Gribov's partonic interpretation of the Pomeron, which enables one to calculate the diffractive mass distributions in hadron-hadron scattering. Using the analogy with deep-inelastic scattering, we associate the Pomeron-quark interaction with the Good-Walker sector of the hadron-hadron scattering, and the Pomeron-gluon sector with the t-channel Pomeron interactions. We present predicted mass distributions for the LHC energies
We evaluate within the LO DGLAP approximation the dependence on energy of the cross section of the photo(electro)production of vector meson V ($V=J/ψ,...$) in the hard elastic processes off a parton $γ^*+g\to V=J/ψ+g$ as the function of momentum transfer $t=(q_γ-p_V)^2$. We demonstrate that in the limit $-t \ge m_V^2 +Q^2$ the cross section does not contain double logarithmic terms in any order of the DGLAP approximation leading to the energy independent cross section. Thus the energy dependence of cross section $γ^*+p\to J/ψ+{\rm rapidity ~gap} +X$ is governed at large $t$ by the gluon distri…
Toy models of interacting Pomerons with triple and quaternary Pomeron vertices in zero transverse dimension are investigated. Numerical solutions for eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the corresponding Hamiltonians are obtained, providing the quantum solution for the scattering amplitude in both models. The equations of motion for the Lagrangians of the theories are also considered and the classical solutions of the equations are found. Full two-point Green functions ("effective" Pomeron propagator) and amplitude of diffractive dissociation process are calculated in the framework of RFT-0 appr…
We discuss predictions for the total inelastic gamma-gamma cross-section and their model dependence on the input parameters. We compare results from a simple extension of the Regge Pomeron exchange model as well as predictions from the eikonalized mini-jet model with recent LEP data.
We discuss the contribution of diffractive $Q \bar Q$ production to the longitudinal double-spin asymmetry in polarized deep--inelastic $lp$ scattering. We show the strong dependence of the $A_{ll}$ asymmetry on the pomeron spin structure.
We present a program to measure the parton densities in the pomeron using diffractive deep inelastic scattering and diffractive photoproduction, and to test the resulting parton densities by applying them to other processes such as the diffractive production of jets in hadron-hadron collisions. Since QCD factorization has been predicted NOT to apply to hard diffractive scattering, this program of fitting and using parton densities might be expected to fail. Its success or failure will provide useful information on the space-time structure of the pomeron.
HERA, the electron-proton collider, enables to probe the proton with a high resolving power due to the deep inelastic scattering reactions at high $Q^2$ values. In the low $Q^2$ region, one can study the properties of the photon. The large fraction of diffractive events found both in the low and high $Q^2$ region allows the study of the Pomeron. A review of what we have learned from HERA so far about the structure of these three objects is presented.
A QCD-Pomeron composed by two non-perturbative gluons with a dynamically generated mass, is constructed in a gauge invariant way. The gluon propagator is infrared-finite. The model properly describes data on elastic scattering, exclusive $ρ$ production in deep inelastic scattering (DIS) and the $J/Ψ$-nucleon total cross-section in terms of a single gluon mass $m_g\simeq0.37$~GeV. The total cross sections of hadrons with small radii, such as $J/Ψ$, are very sensitive on the effective gluon mass.
Multiple interaction models satisfying $s$-channel unitarity predict that, in contrast to inelastic processes, factorization is violated in diffractive processes. The size of this effect can be characterized in terms of the rapidity gap survival probability. The possibility of its measurement at HERA is pointed out. Furthermore a method to measure photon diffraction dissociation at LEP2 and planned linear colliders is discussed and cross section predictions are given.
We study a novel property of large rapidity-gap events in deep inelastic scattering at HERA: splitting the pomeron into two jets in the photon-pomeron fusion reaction $γ^{*}\Pom \rightarrow q\bar{q}$. It gives rise to the diffraction dissociation of virtual photons into the back-to-back jets. We find that at large invariant mass $M$ of two jets, $M^{2}\gg Q^{2}$, the transverse momentum of jets comes from the intrinsic transverse momentum of gluons in the pomeron, and the photon-pomeron fusion direcly probes the diffrential gluon structure function of the proton $\partial G(x,q^{2})/\partial \…
