The two-character level-1 WZW models corresponding to Lie algebras in the Cvitanović-Deligne series $A_1,A_2,G_2,D_4,F_4,E_6,E_7$ have been argued to form coset pairs with respect to the meromorphic $E_{8,1}$ CFT. Evidence for this has taken the form of holomorphic bilinear relations between the characters. We propose that suitable 4-point functions of primaries in these models also obey bilinear relations that combine them into current correlators for $E_{8,1}$, and provide strong evidence that these relations hold in each case. Different cases work out due to special identities involving tensor invariants of the algebra or hypergeometric functions. In particular these results verify previous calculations of correlators for exceptional WZW models, which have rather subtle features. We also find evidence that the intermediate vertex operator algebras A$_{0.5}$ and E$_{7.5}$, as well as the three-character A$_{4,1}$ theory, also appear to satisfy the novel coset relation.
We systemically study the Hecke relations and the $c=8k$ coset relations among 2d rational conformal field theories (RCFTs) with up to seven characters. We propose that the characters of any 2d RCFT -- unitary or non-unitary -- satisfying a holomorphic modular linear differential equation (MLDE) can be realized as either a Hecke image or the coset of a Hecke image with respect to a $c=8k$ theory. Benefited from the recent results on holomorphic modular bootstrap, we check this proposal for all admissible theories with up to five characters. We also find many new interesting Hecke relations. Fo…
Recently, Harvey and Wu proposed a suitable Hecke operator for vector-valued $SL(2,\mathbb{Z})$ modular forms to connect the characters of different 2d rational conformal field theories (RCFTs). We generalize such an operator to the 2d fermionic RCFTs and call it fermionic Hecke operator. The new Hecke operator naturally maps the Neveu-Schwarz (NS) characters of a fermionic theory to the NS characters of another fermionic theory. Mathematically, it is the natural Hecke operator on vector-valued $Γ_θ$ modular forms of weight zero. We find it can also be extended to $\mathrm{\widetilde{NS}}$ and…
We elaborate and extend the method of Wronskian differential equations for conformal blocks to compute four-point correlation functions on the plane for classes of primary fields in rational (and possibly more general) conformal field theories. This approach leads to universal differential equations for families of CFT's and provides a very simple re-derivation of the BPZ results for the degenerate fields $ϕ_{1,2}$ and $ϕ_{2,1}$ in the c < 1 minimal models. We apply this technique to compute correlators for the WZW models corresponding to the Deligne-Cvitanović exceptional series of Lie algebr…
We use string-net models to accomplish a direct, purely two-dimensional, approach to correlators of two-dimensional rational conformal field theories. We obtain concise geometric expressions for the objects describing bulk and boundary fields in terms of idempotents in the cylinder category of the underlying modular fusion category, comprising more general classes of fields than is standard in the literature. Combining these idempotents with Frobenius graphs on the world sheet yields string nets that form a consistent system of correlators, i.e. a system of invariants under appropriate mapping…
In this paper we investigate measures of chaos and entanglement in rational conformal field theories in 1+1 dimensions. First, we derive a universal formula for the late time value of the out-of-time-ordered correlators for this class of theories. Our universal result can be expressed as a particular combination of the modular S-matrix elements known as the anyon monodromy scalar. Next, in the explicit setup of a $SU(N)_k$ Wess-Zumino-Witten model, we compare the late time behavior of the out-of-time-ordered correlators and the purity. Interestingly, in the large-c limit, the purity grows loga…
Using the method of modular-invariant differential equations, we classify a family of Rational Conformal Field Theories with two and three characters having no Kac-Moody algebra. In addition to unitary and non-unitary minimal models, we find "dual" theories whose characters obey bilinear relations with those of the minimal models to give the Moonshine Module. In some ways this relation is analogous to cosets of meromorphic CFT's. The theory dual in this sense to the Ising model has central charge 47/2 and is related to the Baby Monster Module.
Two-dimensional rational CFT are characterised by an integer $\ell$, related to the number of zeroes of the Wronskian of the characters. For two-character RCFT's with $\ell<6$ there is a finite number of theories and most of these are classified. Recently it has been shown that for $\ell \ge 6$ there are infinitely many admissible characters that could potentially describe CFT's. In this note we examine the $\ell=6$ case, whose central charges lie between 24 and 32, and propose a classification method based on cosets of meromorphic CFT's. We illustrate the method using theories on Kervaire lat…
We derive correspondences of correlation functions among dual conformal field theories in two dimensions by developing a "first order formulation" of coset models. We examine several examples, and the most fundamental one may be a conjectural equivalence between a coset $(SL(n)_k \otimes SL(n)_{-1})/SL(n)_{k-1}$ and $\mathfrak{sl}(n)$ Toda field theory with generic level $k$. Among others, we also complete the derivation of higher rank FZZ-duality involving a coset $SL(n+1)_k /(SL(n)_{k} \otimes U(1))$, which could be done only for $n=2,3$ in our previous paper. One obstacle in the previous wo…
In the modular linear differential equation (MLDE) approach to classifying rational conformal field theories (RCFTs) both the MLDE and the RCFT are identified by a pair of non-negative integers $\textbf{[n,l]}$. $\mathbf{n}$ is the number of characters of the RCFT as well as the order of the MLDE that the characters solve and $\mathbf{l}$, the Wronskian index, is associated to the structure of the zeroes of the Wronskian of the characters. In this paper, we study $\textbf{[3,0]}$ and $\textbf{[3,2]}$ MLDEs in order to classify the corresponding CFTs. We reduce the problem to a "finite" problem…
We examine a strong/weak duality between a Heisenberg coset of a theory with $\mathfrak{sl}_n$ subregular $\mathcal{W}$-algebra symmetry and a theory with a $\mathfrak{sl}_{n|1}$-structure. In a previous work, two of the current authors provided a path integral derivation of correlator correspondences for a series of generalized Fateev-Zamolodchikov-Zamolodchikov (FZZ-)duality. In this paper, we derive correlator correspondences in a similar way but for a different series of generalized duality. This work is a part of the project to realize the duality of corner vertex operator algebras propos…
