In the context of the recently measured non-leptonic decays $B_{d}\to K^{*0}\bar{K}^{*0}$ and $B_{s}\to K^{*0}\bar{K}^{*0}$ we analyse the anatomy of the $L_{VV}$ observable that compares the longitudinal components of $B_s \to VV$ and $B_d \to VV$ decays. This observable is cleaner than the longitudinal polarisation fraction as it is afflicted only at subleading order in a $1/m_b$ expansion by the theoretical uncertainties arising in the transverse components entering the polarisation fraction. Focusing on the particular case of $B_{d}\to K^{*0}\bar{K}^{*0}$ and $B_{s}\to K^{*0}\bar{K}^{*0}$, we discuss the main sources of hadronic uncertainty in the SM. We find for the SM prediction $L_{K^*\bar{K}^*}=19.5^{+9.3}_{-6.8}$, which implies a $2.6σ$ tension with respect to the most recent data, pointing to a deficit in the $b \to s$ transition of the non-leptonic decay versus the corresponding $b \to d$ transition. We discuss possible New Physics explanations for this deviation, first at the level of the Weak Effective Theory and we identify that the two Wilson coefficients ${\cal C}_{4}$ and ${\cal C}_{8g}$ can play a central role in explaining this anomaly. Finally, we briefly explore two different simplified New Physics models which can explain the anomaly through a contribution either in ${\cal C}_4$ (Kaluza-Klein gluon) or in ${\cal C}_{8g}$, with a significant amount of fine tuning, but possible connections to the $b \to s \ell \ell$ anomalies.
In models with partially composite quarks, the couplings of quarks to the Z boson generically receive non-universal corrections that are not only constrained by electroweak precision tests but also lead to flavour-changing neutral currents at tree level. The impact of these flavour-changing couplings on rare K and B decays is studied in two-site models for three scenarios: an anarchic strong sector with two different choices of fermion representations both leading to a custodial protection of the Z->bb coupling, and for a strong sector invariant under a U(2)^3 flavour symmetry. In the complete…
We perform a detailed analysis of several mu-tau lepton flavour violating (LFV) processes, namely tau --> mu X (X = gamma, e+ e-, mu+ mu-, rho, pi, eta, eta'), Z --> mu tau and Higgs boson decays into mu tau. First we present a model independent operator analysis relevant to such decays, then we explicitly compute the LFV operator coefficients [and (g_μ-2)] in a general unconstrained MSSM framework, allowing slepton mass matrices to have large mu-tau entries. We systematically study the role and the interplay of dipole and non-dipole operators, showing how the rates and the mutual correlations…
We perform an extensive study of FCNC and CP Violation within Supersymmetric (SUSY) theories with particular emphasis put on processes governed by b->s transitions and of their correlations with processes governed by b->d transitions, s->d transitions, $D^0-\bar D^0$ oscillations, lepton flavour violating decays, electric dipole moments and (g-2)_mu. We first perform a comprehensive model-independent analysis of Delta F=2 observables and we emphasize the usefulness of the R_b-gamma plane in exhibiting transparently various tensions in the present UT analyses. Secondly, we consider a number of …
The kaon sector is characterised by several processes which are under active investigation across different experiments. In this work, we present the global picture that emerges from a study of the different decay modes. We begin by revisiting the theoretical component of these decays and providing up-to-date predictions of the Standard Model as well as the corresponding uncertainties. Several new features emerge, in particular for $K_{S,L}\to μ\barμ$, and are presented in considerable detail. This offers an ideal platform for extracting the parameter space supported by the existing data. Moti…
We investigate a two Higgs doublet model with extra flavour depending $U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry where $Z'$ boson interactions can explain the Atomki anomaly by choosing appropriate charge assignment for the SM fermions. For parameter region explaining the Atomki anomaly we obtain light scalar boson with $\mathcal{O}(10)$ GeV mass, and we explore scalar sector to search for allowed parameter space. We then discuss anomalous magnetic dipole moment of muon and lepton flavour violating processes induced by Yukawa couplings of our model.
A simple variant of a realistic flavour symmetry scheme for fermion masses and mixings provides a possible interpretation of the diphoton anomaly as an electroweak singlet "flavon". The existence of TeV scale vector-like T-quarks required to provide adequate values for CKM parameters can also naturally account for the diphoton anomaly. Correlations between $V_{ub}$ and $V_{cb}$ with the vector-like T-quark mass can be predicted. Should the diphoton anomaly survive in a future Run, our proposed interpretation can also be tested in upcoming B and LHC studies.
We study squark flavour violation in the anomaly mediated supersymmetry broken (AMSB) minimal supersymmetric standard model. Analytical expressions for the three-generational squark mass matrices are derived. We show that the anomaly-induced soft breaking terms have a decreasing amount of squark flavour violation when running from the GUT to the weak scale. Taking into account inter-generational squark mixing, we work out non-trivial constraints from B -> Xs gamma and Bs -> mu mu, which complement each other, as well as B -> tau nu decays. We further identify a region of parameter space where …
A number of phenomenologically relevant processes at hadron colliders, such as Higgs and Z boson production in association with b quarks, can be conveniently described as scattering of heavy quarks in the initial state. We present a detailed analysis of this class of processes, identifying the form of the leading initial-state collinear logarithms that allow the relation of calculations performed in different flavour schemes in a simple and reliable way. This procedure makes it possible to assess the size of the logarithmically enhanced terms and the effects of their resummation via heavy-quar…
We propose a minimal model in which the flavour anomaly in the $b \to s μ^+ μ^-$ transition is connected to the breaking of Peccei-Quinn (PQ) symmetry. The flavour anomaly is explained from new physics contribution by introducing one generation of heavy quark and heavy lepton which are vector-like under the standard model (SM) gauge group but charged under a local $U(1)_X$ group. They mix with the SM quarks and leptons, inducing flavour-changing $Z^\prime$ couplings, which generates the $b \to s μ^+μ^-$ anomaly at tree level. On the other hand the new fermions are chiral under the global Pecce…
Extensions of the Standard Model with an Abelian gauge group are constrained by gauge anomaly cancellation, so that only a limited number of possible charge assignments is allowed without the introduction of new chiral fermions. For flavour universal charges, couplings of the associated hidden photon to Standard Model fermions are flavour conserving at tree-level. We show explicitly that even the flavour specific charge assignments allowed by anomaly cancellation condition lead to flavour conserving tree-level couplings of the hidden photon to quarks and charged leptons \emph{if} the CKM or PM…
This thesis investigates the Hadronic Light by Light (HLL) scattering contribution to the muon $g-2$, which is one of the most important low energy hadronic effects and consists mainly of the quark loop, the pion pole and the charged pion and kaon loops. In this work the charged pion loop has been investigated more closely. After reviewing the subject a preliminary introduction to Chiral Perturbation Theory (ChPT), Hidden Local Symmetry (HLS) model and the full Vector Meson Dominance (VMD) model is given, and they are used to calculate the pion loop HLL scattering contribution to the muon anom…
The coming flavour precision era will allow to uncover various patterns of flavour violation in different New Physics (NP) scenarios that are presently washed out by hadronic and experimental uncertainties. We illustrate this by performing the anatomy of flavour violation in the 331 models, based on the gauge group SU(3)_C X SU(3)_L X U(1)_X that are among the simplest NP scenarios with new sources of flavour and CP violation. The latter originate dominantly through the flavour violating interactions of ordinary quarks and leptons with a new heavy Z' gauge boson. After discussing first these m…
We discuss the anatomy of the $L_{VV}$ observable designed as a ratio of the longitudinal components of $B_s \to VV$ versus $B_d \to VV$ decays. We focus on the particular case of $B_{d,s} \to K^{*0} {\bar K^{*0}}$ where we find for the SM prediction $L_{K^* \bar{K}^*}=19.5^{+9.3}_{-6.8}$ implying a 2.6$σ$ tension with respect to data. The interpretation of this tension in a model independent way identifies two Wilson coefficients ${\cal C}_{4}$ and ${\cal C}_{8g}$ as possible sources. The example of one simplified model including a Kaluza-Klein (KK) gluon is discussed. This KK gluon embedded …
The simplest extension of the SM that generally introduces new sources of flavour and CP violation as well as right-handed currents is the addition of a U(1) gauge symmetry to the SM gauge group. If the corresponding heavy gauge boson Z' mediates FCNC processes in the quark sector at tree-level, these new physics contributions imply a pattern of deviations from SM expectations for FCNC processes depending only on Z' couplings to fermions and on its mass. This implies stringent correlations between Delta F=2 and Delta F=1 observables which govern the landscape of the allowed parameter space for…
In minimal anomaly-mediated supersymmetry breaking models, tachyonic sleptons are avoided by introducing a common scalar mass similar to the one introduced in minimal supergravity. This may lead to non-minimal flavour-violating interactions, e.g., in the squark sector. In this paper, we analyze the viable anomaly-mediated supersymmetry breaking parameter space in the light of the latest limits on low-energy observables and LHC searches, complete our analytical calculations of flavour-violating supersymmetric particle production at hadron colliders with those related to gluino production, and s…
Motivated by the recent Xenon1T result, we study a leptophilic flavour-dependent anomaly-free axion-like particle (ALP) and its effects on charged-lepton flavour violation (CLFV). We present two representative models. The first one considers that the ALP origins from the flavon that generates the charged-lepton masses. The second model assumes a larger flavour symmetry such that more general mixings in the charged-lepton are possible, while maintaining flavour-dependent ALP couplings. We find that a keV ALP explaining the Xenon1T result is still viable for lepton flavour violation and stellar …
In many extensions of the Standard Model flavour changing neutral current processes can be mediated by tree-level heavy neutral scalars and/or pseudo-scalars H^0(A^0). This generally introduces new sources of flavour violation and CP violation as well as left-handed and right-handed scalar currents. These new physics contributions imply a pattern of deviations from SM expectations for FCNC processes that depends only on the couplings of H^0(A^0) to fermions and on their masses. In situations in which a single H^0 or A^0 dominates NP contributions stringent correlations between Delta F=2 and De…
Discrepancies between recent experimental results and their respective Standard Model predictions, known as flavour anomalies, are reported in semileptonic charged and neutral-current $B$-decays, the muon magnetic moment $(g-2)_μ$, and the extraction of the Cabibbo angle. In this proceedings, we review two New Physics models that introduce two scalar mediators at the TeV scale and aim at a combined explanation of the flavour anomalies. The first model features the leptoquarks $S_1$ and $S_3$ and provides tree level solutions to both $B$-anomalies and one-loop level solution to the anomalous $(…
We perform a general analysis of new physics interpretations of the recent ATLAS diboson excesses over Standard Model expectations in LHC Run I collisions. Firstly, we estimate a likelihood function for the true signal in the $WW$, $WZ$, and $ZZ$ channels, finding that the maximum has zero events in the $WZ$ channel, though the likelihood is sufficiently flat to allow other scenarios. Secondly, we survey the possible effective field theories containing the Standard Model plus a new resonance that could explain the data, finding just two possibilities, viz., a vector that is either a left- or r…
The singly charged $SU(2)_L$ singlet scalar, with its necessarily flavour violating couplings to leptons, lends itself particularly well for an explanation of the Cabibbo Angle Anomaly and of hints for lepton flavour universality violation in $τ\to μ\bar νν$. In a setup addressing both anomalies, we predict loop-induced effects in $τ\to eγ$ and in $τ\to eμμ$. A recast of ATLAS selectron and smuon searches allows us to derive a coupling-independent lower limit of $\approx 200$ GeV on the mass of the singly charged singlet scalar. At a future $e^+e^-$ collider, dark matter mono-photon searches c…
Many studies have been made on extensions of the standard model with $B-L$ gauge symmetry. The addition of three singlet (right-handed) neutrinos renders it anomaly-free. It has always been assumed that the spontaneous breaking of $B-L$ is accomplished by a singlet scalar field carrying two units of $B-L$ charge. This results in a very natural implementation of the Majorana seesaw mechanism for neutrinos. However, there exists in fact another simple anomaly-free solution which allows Dirac or inverse seesaw neutrino masses. We show for the first time these new possibilities and discuss an appl…
The atmospheric neutrino anomaly reported by the super-Kamiokande collaboration suggests existence of a large flavour violating Yukawa coupling in the lepton sector. We discuss lepton-flavour violation at low energies in the framework of the supersymmetric SU(5)_{GUT} model with right-handed neutrinos. We find that for a wide range of parameter space suggested from the atmospheric neutrino anomaly, if the tau-neutrino Yukawa coupling is as large as that of top quark, lower bounds of the branching ratios of mu -> e gamma, tau -> mu gamma, and the mu-e conversion rate on $^{48}_{22}Ti$ become ar…
Spontaneously broken, flavour-dependent, gauged $U(1)$ extensions of the Standard Model (SM) have many phenomenological uses. We chart the space of solutions to the gauge anomaly cancellation equations in such extensions, for both the SM chiral fermion content and the SM plus (up to) three right-handed neutrinos (SM$ν_R$). Methods from Diophantine analysis allow us to efficiently index the solutions arithmetically, and produce the complete solution space in particular cases. In order to solve the general case, we build a computer program which cycles through possible $U(1)$ charge assignments,…
We study the implications of the flavour SU(3) symmetry for various interpretations of the neutron anomaly in the $γN\toηN$ cross section. We show that the explanation of the neutron anomaly due to interference of known N(1535) and N(1650) resonances implies that N(1650) resonance should have a huge coupling to $ϕ$-meson -- at least 5 times larger than the corresponding $ρ^0$ coupling. In terms of quark degrees of freedom this means that the well-known N(1650) resonance must be a "cryptoexotic pentaquark"-- its wave function should contain predominantly an $s\bar s$ component. It turns out tha…
Realistic models based on the renormalizable grand unified theories have varieties of scalars, many of which are capable of mediating baryon ($B$) and lepton ($L$) number non-conserving processes. We identify all such scalar fields residing in ${\bf 10}$, $\overline{\bf 126}$ and ${\bf 120}$ dimensional irreps of $SO(10)$ which can induce baryon and lepton number violating interactions through the leading order $d=6$ and $d=7$ operators. Explicitly computing their couplings with the standard model fermions, we derive the effective operators including the possibility of mixing between the scala…
We propose a model which generates neutrino masses by the inverse seesaw mechanism, provides a viable dark matter candidate and explains the muon ($g-2$) anomaly. The Standard Model (SM) gauge group is extended with a gauged U(1)$_{\rm B-L}$ as well as a gauged U(1)$_{\rm L_μ - L_τ}$. While U(1)$_{\rm L_μ - L_τ}$ is anomaly free, the anomaly introduced by U(1)$_{\rm B-L}$ is cancelled between the six SM singlet fermions introduced for the inverse seesaw mechanism and four additional chiral fermions introduced in this model. After spontaneous symmetry breaking the four chiral fermionic degrees …
The latest LHCb angular analysis of the rare decay B -> K* mu+ mu- shows some discrepancies from the SM up to the 3.7 sigma level. There is a consistent new physics explanation of these anomalies, while it is also reasonable that these anomalies are just statistical fluctuations and/or a direct consequence of underestimated hadronic uncertainties. We briefly discuss possible cross-checks of the various hypotheses with an analysis of the inclusive B -> Xs l+ l- based on the data collected by the B factories Babar and Belle and also based on future opportunities at SuperBelle. We also present a …
We construct a scalar dark matter model with $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$ symmetry in which the dark matter interacts with the quark flavours, allowing lepton non-universal $b \to s \ell \bar{\ell}$ decays. The model can solve $b \to s μμ$ ($R_{K^{(*)}}$) anomaly and accommodate the relic abundance of dark matter simultaneously while satisfying the constraints from other low energy flavour experiments and direct detection experiments of dark matter. The new fields include vector-like heavy quarks $U$ and $D$, $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$ breaking scalar $S$, as well as the dark matter candidate $X_I$ and its heavy pa…

We investigate the connection between the moduli space of N=1 supersymmetric gauge theories and the set of polynomial gauge invariants constrained by classical/quantum relations called syzygies. We examine the existence of a superpotential reproducing these syzygies and the link with the 't Hooft anomaly matching between the fundamental fields at high energy and the gauge invariant degrees of freedom at low energy for the flavour symmetry group. We show that the anomaly matching is equivalent to the vanishing of the flavour anomaly on the normal space to the manifold defined by the syzygies. F…
We demonstrate that the explanation of the neutron anomaly around $W\sim 1685$MeV in $γN\to ηN$ reactions provided by the $η$MAID2018 isobar model is based on large violation of the flavour SU(3) symmetry in hadron interactions. This is yet another example of how conventional explanation (without invoking exotic narrow nucleon resonance) of the neutron anomaly metamorphoses into unconventional physics picture of hadron interactions. A possibility to mend the flavour SU(3) symmetry for some of resonances in $η$MAID model is discussed.
We study the thermal transition of QCD with two degenerate light flavours by lattice simulations using $\mathcal{O}(a)$-improved Wilson quarks. Particular emphasis lies on the pattern of chiral symmetry restoration, which we probe via the static screening correlators. On $32^3$ volumes we observe that the screening masses in transverse iso-vector vector and axial-vector channels become degenerate at the transition temperature. The splitting between the screening masses in iso-vector scalar and pseudoscalar channels is strongly reduced compared to the splitting at zero temperature and is actual…
We explore the constraints imposed by the cancellation of triangle anomalies on models in which the flavour anomalies reported by LHCb and other experiments are due to an extra U(1)' gauge boson Z'. We assume universal and rational U(1)' charges for the first two generations of left-handed quarks and of right-handed up-type quarks but allow different charges for their third-generation counterparts. If the right-handed charges vanish, cancellation of the triangle anomalies requires all the quark U(1)' charges to vanish, if there are either no exotic fermions or there is only one Standard Model …
The largest global symmetry that can be made local in the Standard Model + 3$ν_R$ while being compatible with Pati-Salam unification is $SU(3)_H\times U(1)_{B-L}$. The gauge bosons of this theory would induce flavour effects involving both quarks and leptons, and are a potential candidate to explain the recent reports of lepton universality violation in rare B meson decays. In this letter we characterise this type of models and show how they can accommodate the data and naturally be within reach of direct searches.
In this paper we consider an $S^{1}/\mathbb{Z}_2$ compactified flat extra dimensional scenario where all the standard model states can access the bulk and have generalised brane localised kinetic terms. The flavour structure of brane kinetic terms for the standard model fermions are dictated by stringent flavour bounds on the first two generations implying an $U(2)_{Q_L} \otimes U(2)_{u_R} \otimes U(2)_{d_R}$ flavour symmetry. We consider the constraints on such a scenario arising from dark matter relic density and direct detection measurements, precision electroweak data, Higgs physics and LH…
In addition to the existing strong indications for lepton flavour university violation (LFUV) in low energy precision experiments, CMS recently released an analysis of non-resonant di-lepton pairs which could constitute the first sign of LFUV in high-energy LHC searches. In this article we show that the Cabibbo angle anomaly, an (apparent) violation of first row and column CKM unitarity with $\approx3\,σ$ significance, and the CMS result can be correlated and commonly explained in a model independent way by the operator $[Q_{\ell q}^{(3)}]_{1111} = (\bar{\ell}_1γ^μσ^I\ell_1)(\bar{q}_1γ_μσ^Iq_1…
We consider scenarios with a heavy $Z^\prime$ gauge boson with flavour non-universal quark and lepton couplings with the goal to illustrate how the cancellation of gauge anomalies generated by the additional U(1)$^\prime$ gauge symmetry would imply correlations between FCNC processes in the quark sector, in the lepton sector and most interestingly between quark flavour and lepton flavour violating processes. We present scenarios with only left-handed flavour-violating $Z^\prime$ couplings and those with also right-handed flavour-violating couplings. These are characterized by a small number of…
We propose an extension of the standard model with an extra U(1)' abelian symmetry, three Higgs doublets and one Higgs singlet, where the new U(1)' charges are flavour non-universal. As a result, the model introduces an enlarger particle spectrum in the TeV scale with large new physics possibilities. The model reproduces the mixing angles and mass structures of the quarks, charged and neutral leptons. We found that the observed anomaly of the $B^{+}\rightarrow K^+ \ell \ell$ decay can be explained due to the existence of couplings with new extra fermions at the TeV scale.
Significant deviations from the Standard Model are observed in semileptonic charged and neutral-current B-decays, the muon magnetic moment, and the extraction of the Cabibbo angle. We propose that these deviations point towards a coherent pattern of New Physics effects induced by two scalar mediators, a leptoquark $S_1$ and a charged singlet $ϕ^+$. While $S_1$ can provide solutions to charged-current $B$-decays and the muon magnetic moment, and $ϕ^+$ can accommodate the Cabibbo-angle anomaly independently, their one-loop level synergy can also address neutral-current $B$-decays. This framework…
In recent times, one of the strongest hints of Physics Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) has been the anomaly in the ratios $R_D$ and $R_{D^\ast}$ measured in the charged current decays of $B$-mesons. In this work, we perform a comprehensive analysis of these decay modes, first in a model independent way and subsequently, in the context of composite Higgs models. We discuss in depth as to how linearly realised $\rm SU(2)_L \times U(1)_Y$ symmetry imposes severe constraint on the various scenarios because of correlations with other $ΔF =1$ processes and $Z\,τ\,τ$ and $Z\,ν\,ν$ couplings. In the c…
We examine the possibilities of accommodating the muon $g-2$ anomaly reported by Fermilab in the 2HDM with a discrete $Z_4$ symmetry in which an inert Higgs doublet field ($H,~A,~H^\pm$) has the lepton flavor violation $μ$-$τ$ interactions. We study the case of light $H$ (5 GeV $<m_H<$ 115 GeV) and assume the Yukawa matrices to be real and symmetrical. Considering relevant theoretical and experimental constraints, especially for the multi-lepton searches at the LHC, we find the muon $g-2$ anomaly can be explained within $2σ$ range in the region of 5 GeV $<m_H<20$ GeV, 130 GeV $< m_A~(m_{H^\pm}…
The recent observation of B_d -> pi^0 pi^0 at the B factories with a surprisingly large branching ratio represents a challenge for theory, and complements the amazingly small B_d -> pi^+ pi^- rate. We point out that all puzzling B -> pi pi features can be accommodated in the Standard Model (SM) through non-factorizable hadronic interference effects, extract the relevant parameters, and predict the CP asymmetries of B_d -> pi^0 pi^0. Using then SU(3) flavour-symmetry and plausible dynamical assumptions, we fix the hadronic B -> pi K parameters through their B -> pi pi counterparts, and determin…
We show how the effective action of the Extended Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model (ENJL) can be defined in the presence of anomalies in a way that reproduces the flavour anomaly. This necessarily breaks Vector Meson Dominance (VMD) in the usual sense. The same method can be used to construct other chiral effective theories involving constituent quarks and spin-1 mesons that give the correct flavour anomaly. We also comment on how standard VMD is the root of this problem and those observed by previous authors in implementing VMD in the anomalous sector.
We study a generic leptophilic $U(1)_X$ extension of the standard model with a light gauge boson. The $U(1)_X$ charge assignments for the leptons are guided by lepton universality violating (LUV) observables in semileptonic $b \to s\ell\ell$ decays, muon anomalous magnetic moment and the origin of leptonic masses and mixing. Anomaly cancellation conditions require the addition of new chiral fermions in the model, one of which acts as a dark matter (DM) candidate when it is stabilised by an additional $\mathcal{Z}_2$ symmetry. From our analysis, we show two different possible models with simila…

We point out that right-handed neutrinos can resolve the tension between the latest CDF II measurement of the $W$-boson mass, $M_W$, and the standard model. Integrating out the new states yields a single $d=6$ operator, which induces a deviation from unitarity in the PMNS matrix. This alters the extraction of the Fermi constant from muon decay and increases the prediction for $M_W$, in line with the CDF II result. Non-unitarity of the PMNS matrix would also affect beta, meson, and tau decays. We find that the CDF II value for $M_W$ can be explained without conflicting with lepton flavour unive…
We show that the discrete anomaly constraints governing popular non-Abelian symmetries of use in (e.g.) flavoured, supersymmetric, and dark matter model building typically subdivide into two classes differentiated by the simple restrictions they impose on the number of fields transforming under certain irreducible representations of the relevant groups. These constraints lead us both to generic conclusions for common Beyond-the-Standard-Model constructions (including rather powerful statements for Grand Unified theories) as well as to simplified formulae that can be rapidly applied to determin…
We investigate the consequence of vector leptoquarks on the rare semileptonic lepton flavour violating decays of $B$ meson which are more promising and effective channels to probe the new physics signal. We constrain the resulting new leptoquark parameter space by using the branching ratios of $B_{s, d} \to l^+ l^-$, $K_L \to l^+ l^-$ and $τ^- \to l^- γ$ processes. We estimate the branching ratios of rare lepton flavour violating $B \to K(π)l_i^- l_j^+$ processes using the constrained leptoquark couplings. We also compute the forward-backward asymmetries and the lepton non-universality paramet…
We present an effective Lagrangian formalism for the calculation of flavour changing neutral and charged scalar currents in weak decays including $SU(2)\times U(1)$ symmetry breaking effects and the effects of the electroweak couplings $g_1$ and $g_2$. We apply this formalism to the MSSM with large $\tanβ$ with the CKM matrix as the only source of flavour violation, heavy supersymmetric particles and light Higgs bosons. We give analytic formulae for the neutral and charged Higgs boson couplings to quarks including large $\tanβ$ resummed corrections in the $SU(2) \times U(1)$ limit and demonstr…
There are two tensions related to the Cabibbo angle of the CKM matrix. First, the determinations of $V_{us}$ from $K_{μ2}$, $K_{\ell3}$, and $τ$ decays disagree at the $3σ$ level. Second, using the average of these results in combination with $β$ decays (including super-allowed $β$ decays and neutron decay), a deficit in first-row CKM unitarity with a significance of again about $3σ$ is found. These discrepancies, known as the Cabibbo Angle anomaly, can in principle be solved by modifications of $W$ boson couplings to quarks. However, due to $SU(2)_L$ invariance, $Z$ couplings to quarks are al…
In this short presentation I emphasize the increased importance of kaon flavour physics in the search for new physics (NP) that we should witness in the rest of this decade and in the next decade. The main actors will be the branching ratios for the rare decays $K^+\rightarrowπ^+ν\barν$ and $K_{L}\rightarrowπ^0ν\barν$, to be measured by NA62 and KOTO, and their correlations with the ratio $\varepsilon'/\varepsilon$ on which recently progress by lattice QCD and large $N$ dual QCD approach has been made implying a new flavour anomaly. Further correlations of $K^+\rightarrowπ^+ν\barν$, $K_{L}\rig…
In this article we propose a simple model which can provide a combined explanation of the $Z\to b\bar b$ forward-backward asymmetry, the Cabibbo Angle Anomaly (CAA), $τ\toμνν$ and $b\to s\ell^+\ell^-$ data. This model is obtained by extending the Standard Model (SM) by two heavy vector-like quarks (an $SU(2)_L$ doublet (singlet) with hypercharge $-5/6$ (-1/3)), two new scalars (a neutral and a singly charged one) and a gauged $L_μ-L_τ$ symmetry. The mixing of the new quarks with the SM ones, after electroweak symmetry breaking, does not only explain $Z\to b\bar b$ data but also generates a lep…
During the last fifteen years B_{s,d} decays, B_{s,d}^0-\bar B^0_{s,d} mixings, CP-violating asymmetries S_{ψK_S} and S_{ψϕ} provided the dominant information about the pattern of flavour violation within the SM and its extensions. We emphasize that in the coming years K meson physics will certainly strike back through the measurements of the branching ratios of theoretically very clean decays K^+->pi^+ν\barνand K_L->π^0ν\barνand improved calculations of the ratio epsilon'/epsilon=\epe. We summarize the status of K^+->pi^+ν\barνand K_L->π^0ν\barνwithin the SM and simplified NP models and updat…
After years of silence we should witness in the rest of this decade and in the next decade the revival of kaon flavour physics. This is not only because of the crucial measurements of the branching ratios for the rare decays $K^+\toπ^+ν\barν$ and $K_{L}\to π^0ν\barν$ by NA62 and KOTO that being theoretically clean and very sensitive to new physics (NP) could hint for new phenomena even beyond the reach of the LHC without any significant theoretical uncertainties. Indeed simultaneously the advances in the calculations of perturbative and in particular non-perturbative QCD effects in $\varepsilo…
