Density perturbations related to structure formations are expected to be different in dissipative and non-dissipative universes, even if the background evolution of the two universes is the same. To clarify the difference between the two universes, first-order density perturbations are studied, using two types of holographic cosmological models. The first type is a "$Λ(t)$ model" similar to a time-varying $Λ(t)$ cosmology for the non-dissipative universe. The second type is a "BV model" similar to a bulk viscous cosmology for the dissipative universe. To systematically examine the two different universes, a power-law term proportional to $H^α$ is applied to the $Λ(t)$ and BV (bulk-viscous-cosmology-like) models, assuming a flat Friedmann--Robertson--Walker model for the late universe. Here, $H$ is the Hubble parameter and $α$ is a free parameter whose value is a real number. The $Λ(t)$-$H^α$ and BV-$H^α$ models are used to examine first-order density perturbations for matter, in which the background evolution of the two models is equivalent. In addition, thermodynamic constraints on the two models are discussed, with a focus on the maximization of entropy on the horizon of the universe, extending previous analyses [Phys. Rev. D 100, 123545 (2019) (arXiv:1911.08306); 102, 063512 (2020) (arXiv:2006.09650)]. Consequently, the $Λ(t)$-$H^α$ model for small $|α|$ values is found to be consistent with observations and satisfies the thermodynamic constraints, compared with the BV-$H^α$ model. The results show that the non-dissipative universe described by the $Λ(t)$-$H^α$ model similar to lambda cold dark matter models is likely favored.
Cosmological adiabatic particle creation results in the generation of irreversible entropy. The evolution of this entropy is examined in a flat Friedmann--Robertson--Walker universe at late times, using a dissipative model with a power-law term (proportional to the power of the Hubble parameter $H$). In a dissipative universe, the irreversible entropy included in the Hubble volume is found to be proportional to $H^{-1}$, unlike for the case of the Bekenstein--Hawking entropy on the horizon of the universe. In addition, the evolution of the horizon entropy is examined, extending the previous an…
We investigate the accelerated expansion of the late-time universe in the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker metric with nonzero curvature, applying a holographic principle based on a generalized holographic dark energy model introduced by Nojiri and Odintsov (2005,2006). We describe the evolution of the universe using a generalized equation of state in the presence of a viscous fluid. Solutions of the gravitational equation of motions are obtained in explicit form for a constant value of the thermodynamic parameter, and for various forms of the bulk viscosity. We calculate analytic expressions for in…
We present a table-top realization of a non-equilibrium quantum system described by a dynamical gauge field propagating on an effectively curved space and time manifold. The system is formed by neutral atoms interacting with both a conservative disordered optical field and a dissipative pumping field. In the presence of a sufficiently dark state, we demonstrate non-equilibrium behavior reminiscent of the information paradox in black hole physics. At a well-defined transition point, the analog of gauge-boson mass is seen to vanish, inducing scale-invariant behavior as a Higgs-like mechanism is …
The present day accelerated expansion of the universe is naturally addressed within the Brans-Dicke theory just by using holographic dark energy model with inverse of Hubble scale as IR cutoff. It is also concluded that if the universe continues to expand, then one day it might be completely filled with dark energy.
The relationship between the cosmic microwave background radiation temperature and the redshift, i.e., the $T$--$z$ relation, is examined in a phenomenological dissipative model. The model contains two constant terms, as if a nonzero cosmological constant $Λ$ and a dissipative process are operative in a homogeneous, isotropic, and spatially flat universe. The $T$--$z$ relation is derived from a general radiative temperature law, as appropriate for describing nonequilibrium states in a creation of cold dark matter (CCDM) model. Using this relation, the radiation temperature in the late universe…
The holographic $Λ(t)$CDM model in a non-flat universe is studied in this paper. In this model, to keep the form of the stress-energy of the vacuum required by general covariance, the holographic vacuum is enforced to exchange energy with dark matter. It is demonstrated that for the holographic model the best choice for the IR cutoff of the effective quantum field theory is the event horizon size of the universe. We derive the evolution equations of the holographic $Λ(t)$CDM model in a non-flat universe. We constrain the model by using the current observational data, including the 557 Union2 t…
By assuming that a dark component (dark energy) in the universe strictly obeys the holographic principle, that is, its entropy is one fourth of the apparent horizon, we find that the existence of the other dark component (dark matter) is compulsory, as a compensation of dark energy, based on the first law of thermodynamics. By using the method of dynamical system analysis, we find that there exists a stable dark energy-dark matter scaling solution at late time, which is helpful to solve the coincidence problem. For reasonable parameters, the deceleration parameter is well consistent with curre…
We proposed the generalized holographic dark energy model where infrared cutoff is identified with the combination of the FRW universe parameters: the Hubble rate, particle and future horizons, cosmological constant, the universe life-time (if finite) and their derivatives. It is demonstrated that with the corresponding choice of the cutoff one can map such holographic dark energy to modified gravity or gravity with general fluid. Explicitly, F(R) gravity and general perfect fluid are worked out in detail and corresponding infrared cutoff is found. Using this correspondence, we get realistic i…
We discuss a scenario that the dark matter in late time universe emerges as part of the holographic stress-energy tensor on the hypersurface in higher dimensional flat spacetime. Firstly we construct a toy model with a de Sitter hypersurface as the holographic screen in the flat bulk. After adding the baryonic matter on the screen, we assume that both of the dark matter and dark energy can be described by the Brown-York stress-energy tensor. From the Hamiltonian constraint equation in the flat bulk, we find an interesting relation between the dark matter and baryonic matter's energy density pa…
In this paper we study the cosmological evolution of the holographic dark energy in a cyclic universe, generalizing the model of holographic dark energy proposed by Li. The holographic dark energy with $c<1$ can realize a quintom behavior; namely, it evolves from a quintessence-like component to a phantom-like one. The holographic phantom energy density grows rapidly and dominates the late-time expanding phase, helping realize a cyclic universe scenario in which the high energy regime is modified by the effects of quantum gravity, causing a turnaround (and a bounce) of the universe. The dynami…
Summary of three talks on the Holographic Space Time models of early universe cosmology, particle physics, and the asymptotically de Sitter final state of our universe.
By making use of a class of steep exponential type of potentials, which has been recently used to describe quintessential inflation, we show how a unified picture for both inflation, dark energy and dark matter can emerge entirely through dissipative effects. Dissipation provides a way for extending the applicability of a larger class of these potentials in the sense of leading to a consistent early Universe inflationary picture and producing observables in agreement with the Planck legacy data. Likewise, dissipative effects lead to dark matter production with consistent abundances and, toward…
We present a holographic description of four-dimensional single-scalar inflationary universes in terms of a three-dimensional quantum field theory. The holographic description correctly reproduces standard inflationary predictions in their regime of applicability. In the opposite case, wherein gravity is strongly coupled at early times, we propose a holographic description in terms of perturbative QFT and present models capable of satisfying the current observational constraints while exhibiting a phenomenology distinct from standard inflation. This provides a qualitatively new method for gene…
We study the semi-holographic idea in context of decaying dark components. The energy flow between dark energy and the compensating dark matter is thermodynamically generalized to involve a particle number variable dark component with non-zero chemical potential. It's found that, unlike the original semi-holographic model, no cosmological constant is needed for a dynamical evolution of the universe. A transient phantom phase appears while a non-trivial dark energy-dark matter scaling solution keeps at late time, which evades the big-rip and helps to resolve the coincidence problem. For reasona…
Conditions needed to cross the phantom divide line in an interacting holographic dark energy model in closed Friedmann- Robertson-Walker universe are discussed. The probable relationship between this crossing and the coincidence problem is studied.
We construct Barrow holographic dark energy in the case of non-flat universe. In particular, considering closed and open spatial geometry we extract the differential equations that determine the evolution of the dark-energy density parameter, and we provide the analytical expression for the corresponding dark energy equation-of-state parameter. We show that the scenario can describe the thermal history of the universe, with the sequence of matter and dark energy epochs. Comparing to the flat case, where the phantom regime is obtained for relative large Barrow exponents, the incorporation of po…
Assuming gauge/gravity correspondence we study reheating of the Universe using its holographic dual. Inflaton decay and thermalisation of the decay products correspond to collapse of a spherical shell and formation of a blackhole in the dual anti-de Sitter (AdS) spacetime. The reheating temperature is computed as the Hawking temperature of the developed blackhole probed by a dynamical boundary, and is determined by the inflaton energy density and the AdS radius, with corrections from the dynamics of the shell collapse. For given initial energy density of the inflaton field the holographic mode…
In this letter, we investigate the validity of the generalized second law of thermodynamics of the universe bounded by the event horizon in the holographic dark energy model. The universe is chosen to be homogeneous and isotropic and the validity of the first law has been assumed here. The matter in the universe is taken in the form of non-interacting two fluid system- one component is the holographic dark energy model and the other component is in the form of dust.
We examine the generation and evolution of perturbations in a universe dominated by a fluid with stiff equation of state $p=ρ$. The recently proposed Holographic Universe is an example of such a model. We compute the spectrum of scalar and tensor perturbations, without relying on a microphysical description of the $p=ρ$ fluid. The spectrum is scale invariant deep inside the Hubble horizon. In contrast, infrared perturbations that enter the Hubble horizon during the stiff fluid dominated (holographic) phase yield oscillatory and logarithmic terms in the power spectrum. We show that vector pertu…
We propose an alternative model for the holographic dark energy in a non-flat universe. This new model differs from the previous one in that the IR length cutoff $L$ is taken to be exactly the event horizon size in a non-flat universe, which is more natural and theoretically/conceptually concordant with the model of holographic dark energy in a flat universe. We constrain the model using the recent observational data including the type Ia supernova data from SNLS3, the baryon acoustic oscillation data from 6dF, SDSS-DR7, BOSS-DR11, and WiggleZ, the cosmic microwave background data from Planck,…
Motivated by the work [K. Karami, J. Fehri, {\it Phys. Lett. B} {\bf 684}, 61 (2010)] and [A. Sheykhi, {\it Phys. Lett. B} {\bf 681}, 205 (2009)], we generalize their work to the new holographic dark energy model with $ρ_D=\frac{3ϕ^2}{4ω}(μH^2+ν\dot{H})$ in the framework of Brans-Dicke cosmology. Concretely, we study the correspondence between the quintessence, tachyon, K-essence, dilaton scalar field and Chaplygin gas model with the new holographic dark energy model in the non-flat Brans-Dicke universe. Furthermore, we reconstruct the potentials and dynamics for these models. By analysis we c…
We consider a holographic dark energy model, with a varying parameter, n, which evolves slowly with time. We obtain the differential equation describing evolution of the dark energy density parameter, $Ω_d$, for the flat and non-flat FRW universes. The equation of state parameter in this generalized version of holographic dark energy depends on n.
We investigate the early-time accelerated universe after the Big Bang. We pay attention to the dissipative properties of the inflationary universe in the presence of a soft type singularity, making use of the parameters of the generalized equation of state of the fluid. Flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker metric is being used. We consider cosmological models leading to the so-called type IV singular inflation. Our obtained theoretical results are compared with observational data from the Planck satellite. The theoretical predictions for the spectral index turn out to be in agreement with the data,…
Holographic model is originated from Holographic principle. The equation of state in Holographic model and Einstein's gravity with particle horizon can be obtained as wD>-1/3 and cannot justify the expansion acceleration of the Universe. But, by using the event horizon, this model can result in the accelerating expansion in Einstein's gravity and Brans-Dicke cosmology. In this context, we study the holographic model with apparent horizon satisfying the acceleration expansion. We shall see, in the presence of interaction, phase change and transition from decelerated state to accelerated state i…
In this work, we reexamine the holographic dark energy concept proposed already for cosmological applications. By considering, more precisely, the bounds on the entropy arising from lattice field theory on one side and Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of black holes on another side, it is shown that the so-called holographic dark energy cannot be mimicked as easily as claimed in the literature. In addition, the limits on the electron $(g-2)$ experiments are taken into account again. It is shown that the corrections to the electron magnetic momentum are of the order of ${\mathcal{O}}(10^{-23})$.
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the evolution of modified holographic dark energy with variable $G$ in non-flat Kaluza$-$Klein universe. We consider the non-interacting and interacting scenarios of the modified holographic dark energy with dark matter and obtain the equation of state parameter through logarithmic approach. It turns out that the universe remains in different dark energy eras for both cases. Further, we study the validity of the generalized second law of thermodynamics in this scenario. We also justify that the statefinder parameters satisfy the limit of $Λ$CDM model.
The novel idea that spatial expansion of our universe can be regarded as the consequence of the emergence of space was proposed by Padmanabhan. By using of the basic law governing the emergence, which Padmanabhan called holographic equipartition, he also arrives at the Friedmann equation in a flat universe. When generalized to other gravity theories, the holographic equipartition need to be generalized with an expression of $f(ΔN,N_{sur})$. In this paper, we give general expressions of $f(ΔN,N_{sur})$ for generalized holographic equipartition which can be used to derive the Friedmann equations…
Warm inflationary universe model in a tachyon field theory is studied in the weak dissipative regime. We develop our model for an exponential potential and the dissipation parameter $Γ=Γ_0$=constant. We describe scalar and tensor perturbations for this scenario.
In this article we apply the holographic principle for describing in a unifying way the early and the late-time universe, when the general equation of state contains a bulk viscosity. We use the idea of a generalized cut-off holographic dark energy introduced by Nojiri and Odintsov (2006,2017), and study the evolution of the universe when the equation of state has two power-law asymptotes. Analytical expressions for the infrared cut-offs in terms of the particle horizon are obtained. The energy conservation laws as derived from the holographic point of view, are given for various forms of the …
In this paper we show that a universe dominated by two components, namely domain walls and dissipative dark matter such that the former slowly decays into the latter may drive power law cosmological acceleration consistent with the high redshift supernovae data, while the ratio between the energy densities of both components remains fixed at late times thus solving the coincidence problem of present acceleration. Likewise, we estimate the aforesaid ratio at early times.
Rényi Holographic Dark Energy (RHDE) Models has been studied in different dimensions considering a flat FRW metric, subsequently exploring the nature of evolution of different cosmological parameters. It is seen that the number of dimensions affect the evolution of the cosmological parameters and the transition of the universe from decelerating to accelerating phase. The statefinder diagnosis has been performed and it is seen that the model corresponds to the $ΛCDM$ model for the present and future universe.
The modified holographic Ricci dark energy coupled to interacting relativistic and non-relativistic dark matter is considered in the nonflat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe. Through examining the deceleration parameter, one can find that the transition time of the Universe from decelerating to accelerating phase in the interacting holographic Ricci dark energy model is close to that in the $Λ$ cold dark matter model. The evolution of modified holographic Ricci dark energy's state parameter and the evolution of dark matter and dark energy's densities shows that the dark energy holds the dom…
Motivated by Granda and Oliveros (GO) model, we generalize their work to the non-flat case. We obtain the evolution of the dark energy density, the deceleration and the equation of state parameters for the holographic dark energy model in a non-flat universe with GO cut-off. In the limiting case of a flat universe, i.e. $k = 0$, all results given in GO model are obtained.
By incorporating the holographic principle in a time-depending Lambda-term cosmology, new physical bounds on the arbitrary parameters of the model can be obtained. Considering then the dark energy as a purely geometric entity, for which no equation of state has to be introduced, it is shown that the resulting range of allowed values for the parameters may explain both the coincidence problem and the universe accelerated expansion, without resorting to any kind of additional structures.
We consider interacting holographic dark energy model in Friedmann Robertson Walker space time with positive spatial curvature and investigate the behavior of curvature parameter and dark energy density in accelerated expanding epoch. We also derive some conditions needed to cross the phantom divide line in this model.
We study the cosmological consequences of interacting Tsallis holographic dark energy model in the framework of the fractal universe, in which, the Hubble radius is considered as the IR cut-off. We drive the equation of state (EoS) parameter, deceleration parameter and the evolution equation for the Tsallis holographic dark energy density parameter. Our study shows that this model can describe the current accelerating Universe in both noninteracting and interacting scenarios, and also a transition occurs from the deceleration phase to the accelerated phase, at the late time. Finally, we check …
In this paper, we study the holographic dark energy model in non-flat universe from the statefinder viewpoint. We plot the evolutionary trajectories of the holographic dark energy model for different values of the parameter $c$ as well as for different contributions of spatial curvature, in the statefinder parameter-planes. The statefinder diagrams characterize the properties of the holographic dark energy and show the discrimination between this scenario and other dark energy models. As we show, the contributions of the spatial curvature in the model can be diagnosed out explicitly by the sta…
Motivated by the work of Granda and Oliveros [L.N. Granda, A. Oliveros, Phys. Lett. B {\bf 671}, 199 (2009)], we generalize their work to the non-flat case. We study the correspondence between the quintessence, tachyon, K-essence and dilaton scalar field models with the new holographic dark energy model in the non-flat FRW universe. We reconstruct the potentials and the dynamics for these scalar field models, which describe accelerated expansion of the universe. In the limiting case of a flat universe, i.e. $k = 0$, all results given in [L.N. Granda, A. Oliveros, Phys. Lett. B {\bf 671}, 199 (…
I give a critical review of the holographic hypothesis, which posits that a universe with gravity can be described by a quantum field theory in fewer dimensions. I first recall how the idea originated from considerations on black hole thermodynamics and the so-called information paradox that arises when Hawking radiation is taken into account. String Quantum Gravity tried to solve the puzzle using the AdS/CFT correspondence, according to which a black hole in a 5-D anti-de Sitter space is like a flat 4-D field of particles and radiation. Although such an interesting holographic property, also …
We propose a way to observe the photon ring of the asymptotically anti-de Sitter black hole dual to a superconductor on the two-dimensional sphere. We consider the electric current of the superconductor under the localized time-periodic external electromagnetic field. On the gravity side, the bulk Maxwell field is sent from the AdS boundary and then diffracted by the black hole. We construct the image of the black hole from the asymptotic data of the bulk Maxwell field that corresponds to the electric current on the field theory side. We decompose the electric current into the dissipative and …
In this work we explore a Holographic Dark Energy Model in a flat Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker Universe, which contains baryons, radiation, cold dark matter and dark energy within the framework of General Relativity. Furthermore, we consider three types of phenomenological interactions in the dark sector. With the proposed model we obtained the algebraic expressions for the cosmological parameters of our interest: the deceleration and coincidence parameters. Likewise, we graphically compare the proposed model with the $Λ$CDM model.
A scenario is proposed in which the matter-antimatter asymmetry behaves like a seed for the inflationary phase of the universe. The mechanism which makes this scenario plausible is the holographic principle: this scheme is supported by a good prediction of the number of e-folds. It seems that such a mechanism can only work in the presence of a Hagedorn-like phase transition. The issue of the "graceful exit" can also be naturally accounted for.
We propose a cosmological scenario which describes the evolution history of the universe based on the particle creation and holographic equipartition. The model attempts to solve the inflation of the early universe and the accelerated expansion of the present universe without introducing the dark energy from the perspective of thermodynamics. Throughout the evolution of the universe, we assume that the universe always creates particles in some way and holographic equipartition is always satisfied. Further, we choose that the creation rate of particles is proportional to $H^{2}$ in the early un…
We propose a new holographic C-function for the accelerating universe defined in the stringy frame motivated mainly by the fact that the number of degrees of freedom should be infinite for a physical system of infinite size. This is the generalization of Strominger's recent proposal of the holographic C-function to the asymptotically non-de Sitter universe. We find that the corresponding C-theorem holds true if the universe accelerates toward the weak coupling regime driven by the exponential dilaton potential. It also holds in other simple cases.
We study the model for holographic dark energy in a spatially closed universe, generalizing the proposal in hep-th/0403127 for a flat universe. We provide independent arguments for the choice of the parameter $c=1$ in the holographic dark energy model. On the one hand, $c$ can not be less than 1, to avoid violating the second law of thermodynamics. On the other hand, observation suggests $c$ be very close to 1, it is hard to justify a small deviation of $c$ from 1, if $c>1$.
We consider the interacting holographic dark energy with new infrared cutoff (involving Hubble parameter and its derivative) in non-flat universe. In this context, we obtain the equation of state parameter which evolutes the universe from vacuum dark energy region towards quintessence region for particular values of constant parameters. It is found that this model always remains unstable against small perturbations. Further, we establish the correspondence of this model having quintessential behavior with quintessence, tachyon, K-essence and dilaton scalar field models. The dynamics of scalar …
A cosmological model of an holographic dark energy interacting with dark matter throughout a decaying term of the form $Q=3(λ_1ρ_{DE} + λ_2ρ_m) H$ is investigated. General constraint on the parameters of the model are found when accelerated expansion is imposed and we found a phantom scenarios, without any reference to a specific equation of state for the dark energy. The behavior of equation of stated for dark energy is also discussed.
Quantum fluctuations endow spacetime with a foamy texture. The degree of foaminess is dictated by blackhole physics to be of the holographic type. Applied to cosmology, the holographic foam model predicts the existence of dark energy with critical energy density in the current (late) universe, the quanta of which obey infinite statistics. Furthermore we use the deep similarities between turbulence and the spacetime foam phase of strong quantum gravity to argue that the early universe was in a turbulent regime when it underwent a brief cosmic inflation with a "graceful" transition to a laminar …
A closed universe containing pressureless dust, more generally perfect fluid matter with pressure-to-density ratio w in the range (1/3, - 1/3), violates holographic principle applied according to the Fischler-Susskind proposal. We show, first for a class of two-fluid solutions and then for the general multifluid case, that the closed universe will obey the holographic principle if it also contains matter with w < - 1/3, and if the present value of its total density is sufficiently close to the critical density. It is possible that such matter can be realised by some form of `quintessence', muc…
We propose a new entropy construct that generalizes the Tsallis, Rényi, Sharma-Mittal, Barrow, Kaniadakis, and Loop Quantum Gravity entropies and reduces to the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy in a certain limit. This proposal is applied to the Schwarzschild black hole and to spatially homogeneous and isotropic cosmology, where it is shown that it can potentially describe inflation and/or holographic dark energy.
The $f(R)$ gravity models formulated in Einstein conformal frame are equivalent to Einstein gravity together with a minimally coupled scalar field. The scalar field couples with the matter sector and the coupling term is given by the conformal factor. We apply the holographic principle to such an interacting model in spatially flat and curved universes. We show that the model leads to a constant ratio of energy densities of dark matter to dark energy in a spatially flat universe. In a spatially curved universe, the ratio is not a constant and the evolution seems to be model-dependent. However,…
Rényi holographic dark energy (RHDE) correspondence is discussed in higher dimensional cosmology, namely Kaluza-Klein (KK) cosmology. Both interacting and non-interacting cosmological scenario are considered here. It is found that the non-interacting model naturally leads to the late accelerated universe, unlike the standard Holographic Dark Energy models in 4$D$, which requires interaction to accommodate the late-time acceleration of the universe. The interacting model produces an accelerating universe at late time albeit failing to attain the estimated present value of the deceleration param…
String cosmology is revisited from cosmological viewpoint of holographic principle put forward by `t Hooft, and by Fischler and Susskind. It is shown that the holography requires existence of a `graceful exit' mechanism, which renders the Universe nonsingular by connecting pre- and post-big bang phases smoothly. It is proven that flat Universe is consistent with the holography only if it starts with an absolutely cold and vacuous state. Particle entropy produced during the `graceful exit' apparently saturates the holography bound. Open Universe can always satisfy the holography no matter what …
