Quantum Communication for Military Applications

Communication is vital in everyday life and critical for current and future military operations. However, conventional communication as we know it also has its limitations. Quantum communication allows some of these challenges to be overcome and, thereby, new application areas open up, also in the military domain. In this work quantum communication for military purposes is considered. Different applications are presented and the state-of-the-art of the technology is given. Also, quantum communication use cases specific for military applications are described.

Quantum communication, reference frames and gauge theory

We consider quantum communication in the case that the communicating parties not only do not share a reference frame but use imperfect quantum communication channels, in that each channel applies some fixed but unknown unitary rotation to each qubit. We discuss similarities and differences between reference frames within that quantum communication model and gauge fields in gauge theory. Quantum One-Way Communication is Exponentially Stronger Than Classical Communication

In STOC 1999, Raz presented a (partial) function for which there is a quantum protocol communicating only $O(\log n)$ qubits, but for which any classical (randomized, bounded-error) protocol requires $\poly(n)$ bits of communication. That quantum protocol requires two rounds of communication. Ever since Raz's paper it was open whether the same exponential separation can be achieved with a quantum protocol that uses only one round of communication. Programming with Quantum Communication

This work develops a formal framework for specifying, implementing, and analysing quantum communication protocols.
