In this paper we investigate the structure of certain solutions of the fully nonlinear Yamabe flow, which we call quotient almost Yamabe solitons because they extend quite naturally those called quotient Yamabe solitons. We then present sufficient conditions for a compact quotient almost Yamabe soliton to be either trivial or isometric with an Euclidean sphere. We also characterize noncompact quotient gradient almost Yamabe solitons satisfying certain conditions on both its Ricci tensor and potential function.
In this work we determine bifurcation instants for 1-parameter families of solutions to the Yamabe problem defined on maximal flag manifolds. We also study the local rigidity points, namely, a isolated solution of the Yamabe problem.
Our aim in this paper is to study local rigidity for metrics defined on a compact manifold $M$ with boundary satisfying constant scalar curvature on $M$ and constant mean curvature on $\partial M$. We present some geometrical hypotheses ensuring local rigidity for both, the general Riemannian and the warped metric case. These conditions arise from the study of a spectral problem which is not included within the classical problems (Neumann, Steklov,...) that we call "mixed eigenvalue problem". Finally, we apply our previous results for the spatial slice of the de Sitter and Anti-de Sitter Schwa…
We study existence and non-existence of constant scalar curvature metrics conformal and arbitrarily close to homogeneous metrics on spheres, using variational techniques. This describes all critical points of the Hilbert-Einstein functional on such conformal classes, near homogeneous metrics. Both bifurcation and local rigidity type phenomena are obtained for 1-parameter families of U(n+1), Sp(n+1) and Spin(9)-homogeneous metrics.
We study local rigidity and multiplicity of constant scalar curvature metrics in arbitrary products of compact manifolds. Using (equivariant) bifurcation theory we determine the existence of infinitely many metrics that are accumulation points of pairwise non homothetic solutions of the Yamabe problem. Using local rigidity and some compactness results for solutions of the Yamabe problem, we also exhibit new examples of conformal classes (with positive Yamabe constant) for which uniqueness holds.
In this paper, we give an optimal inequality relating the relative Yamabe invariant of a certain compactification of a conformally compact Poin-car{é}-Einstein manifold with the Yamabe invariant of its boundary at infinity. As an application, we obtain an elementary proof of the rigidity of the hyper-bolic space as the only conformally compact Poincar{é}-Einstein manifold with the round sphere as its conformal infinity.
Let $(X^{n},g_+) $ $(n\geq 3)$ be a Poincaré-Einstein manifold which is $C^{3,α}$ conformally compact with conformal infinity $(\partial X, [\hat{g}])$. On the conformal compactification $(\overline{X}, \bar g=ρ^2g_+)$ via some boundary defining function $ρ$, there are two types of Yamabe constants: $Y(\overline{X},\partial X,[\bar g])$ and $Q(\overline{X},\partial X,[\bar g])$. (See definitions (\ref{def.type1}) and (\ref{def.type2})). In \cite{GH}, Gursky and Han gave an inequality between $Y(\overline{X},\partial X,[\bar g])$ and $Y(\partial X,[\hat{g}])$. In this paper, we first show that …
In this paper, we show that any compact quasi $k$-Yamabe gradient solitons must have constant $σ_{k}$-curvature. Moreover, we provide a certain condition for a compact quasi $k$-Yamabe soliton to be gradient, and for noncompact solitons, we present a geometric rigidity under a decaiment condition on the norm of the soliton field.
We refine Theorem A due to Gursky \cite{G3}. As applications, we give some rigidity theorems on four-manifolds with postive Yamabe constant. In particular, these rigidity theorems are sharp for our conditions have the additional properties of being sharp. By this we mean that we can precisely characterize the case of equality. We prove some classification theorems of four manifolds according to some conformal invariants (see Theorems 1.3 and 1.6), which generalize the conformally invariant sphere theorem of Chang-Gursky-Yang \cite{CGY}.
The purpose of this article is to study the geometry of gradient almost Yamabe solitons immersed into warped product manifolds $I\times_{f}M^{n}$ whose potential is given by the height function from the immersion. First, we present some geometric rigidity on compact solitons due to a curvature condition on the warped product manifold. In the sequel, we investigate conditions for the existence of totally geodesic, totally umbilical and minimal solitons. Furthermore, in the scope of constant angle immersions, a classification of rotational gradient almost Yamabe soliton immersed into $\mathbb{R}…
We prove that all entire smooth strictly convex self-shrinking solutions on $\mathbb{R}^n$ to the Hessian quotient flows must be quadratic. This generalizes the rigidity theorem for entire self-shrinking solutions to the Lagrangian mean curvature flow in pseudo-Euclidean space due to Ding-Xin \cite{DX}. Moreover, we show that our argument works for a larger class of equations. In particular, we obtain rigidity results for entire self-shrinking solutions on $\mathbb{C}^n$ to the Kähler-Ricci flow under certain conditions.
In this paper, we study rigidity problems for hypersurfaces with constant curvature quotients $\frac{\mathcal{H}_{2k+1}}{\mathcal{H}_{2k}}$ in the warped product manifolds. Here $\mathcal{H}_{2k}$ is the $k$-th Gauss-Bonnet curvature and $\mathcal{H}_{2k+1}$ arises from the first variation of the total integration of $\mathcal{H}_{2k}$. Hence the quotients considered here are in general different from $\frac{σ_{2k+1}}{σ_{2k}}$, where $σ_k$ are the usual mean curvatures. We prove several rigidity and Bernstein type results for compact or non-compact hypersurfaces corresponding to such quotients…
We prove that if $M$ is a closed $n$-dimensional Riemannian manifold, $n \ge 3$, with ${\rm Ric}\ge n-1$ and for which the optimal constant in the critical Sobolev inequality equals the one of the $n$-dimensional sphere $\mathbb{S}^n$, then $M$ is isometric to $\mathbb{S}^n$. An almost-rigidity result is also established, saying that if equality is almost achieved, then $M$ is close in the measure Gromov-Hausdorff sense to a spherical suspension. These statements are obtained in the ${\rm RCD}$-setting of (possibly non-smooth) metric measure spaces satisfying synthetic lower Ricci curvature bo…
We prove that an $n$-dimensional, $n\geq4$, compact gradient shrinking Ricci soliton satisfying a $L^{\frac n2}$-pinching condition is isometric to a quotient of the round $\mathbb{S}^n$, which improves the rigidity theorem given by G. Catino (arXiv:1509.07416vl).
Let $(M, g, f)$ be a $4$-dimensional complete noncompact gradient shrinking Ricci soliton with the equation $Ric+\nabla^2f=λg$, where $λ$ is a positive real number. We prove that if $M$ has constant scalar curvature $S=2λ$, it must be a quotient of $\mathbb{S}^2\times \mathbb{R}^2$. Together with the known results, this implies that a $4$-dimensional complete gradient shrinking Ricci soliton has constant scalar curvature if and only if it is rigid, that is, it is either Einstein, or a finite quotient of Gaussian shrinking soliton $\Bbb{R}^4$, $\Bbb{S}^{2}\times\Bbb{R}^{2}$ or $\Bbb{S}^{3}\time…
We classify four-dimensional shrinking Ricci solitons satisfying $Sec \geq \frac{1}{24} R$, where $Sec$ and $R$ denote the sectional and the scalar curvature, respectively. They are isometric to either $\mathbb{R}^{4}$ (and quotients), $\mathbb{S}^{4}$, $\mathbb{RP}^{4}$ or $\mathbb{CP}^{2}$ with their standard metrics.
In this paper, we prove that complete gradient steady Kähler-Ricci solitons with harmonic Bochner tensor are necessarily Kähler-Ricci flat, i.e., Calabi-Yau, and that complete gradient shrinking (or expanding) Kähler-Ricci solitons with harmonic Bochner tensor must be isometric to a quotient of $N^k\times \mathbb{C}^{n-k}$, where $N$ is a Kähler-Einstein manifold with positive (or negative) scalar curvature.
In this article, we investigate four-dimensional gradient shrinking Ricci solitons close to a Kähler model. The first theorem could be considered as a rigidity result for the Kähler-Ricci soliton structure on $\mathbb{S}^2\times \mathbb{R}^2$ (in the sense of Remark 1). Moreover, we show that if the quotient of norm of the self-dual Weyl tensor and scalar curvature is close to that on a Kähler metric in a specific sense, then the gradient Ricci soliton must be either half-conformally flat or locally Kähler.
We prove that a gradient shrinking Ricci soliton with fourth order divergence-free Riemannian tensor is rigid. For the $4$-dimensional case, we show that any gradient shrinking Ricci soliton with fourth order divergence-free Riemannian tensor is either Einstein, or a finite quotient of the Gaussian shrinking soliton $\mathbb{R}^4$, $\mathbb{R}^2\times\mathbb{S}^2$ or the round cylinder $\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{S}^3$. Under the condition of fourth order divergence-free Weyl tensor, we have the same results.

We investigate representations of Kähler groups $Γ= π_1(X)$ to a semisimple non-compact Hermitian Lie group $G$ that are deformable to a representation admitting an (anti)-holomorphic equivariant map. Such representations obey a Milnor--Wood inequality similar to those found by Burger--Iozzi and Koziarz--Maubon. Thanks to the study of the case of equality in Royden's version of the Ahlfors--Schwarz Lemma, we can completely describe the case of maximal holomorphic representations. If $\dim_{\C}X \geq 2$, these appear if and only if $X$ is a ball quotient, and essentially reduce to the diagonal …
