We create ordered islands of magnetically anisotropic nickelocene molecules on a Pb (111) substrate. By using inelastic electron tunneling spectra (IETS) and density functional theory, we characterize the magnetic response of these islands. This allows us to conclude that the islands present local and collective magnetic excitations. Furthermore, we show that nickelocene islands present complex non-collinear spin patterns on the superconducting Pb (111) surface, opening the possibility of using molecular arrays to engineer spin textures with important implications on topological superconductivity.
Integration of high quality semiconductor-superconductor devices into scalable and CMOS compatible architectures remains an outstanding challenge, currently hindering their practical implementation. Here, we demonstrate growth of InAs nanowires monolithically integrated on Si inside lateral cavities containing superconducting TiN elements. This technique allows growth of hybrid devices characterized by sharp semiconductor-superconductor interfaces and with alignment along arbitrary crystallographic directions. Electrical characterization at low temperature reveals proximity induced superconduc…
With the ever-increasing energy need to process big data, the realization of low-power computing technologies, such as superconducting logic and memories, has become a pressing issue. Developing fast and non-volatile superconducting memory elements, however, remains a challenge. Superconductor-ferromagnet hybrid devices offer a promising solution, as they combine ultra-fast manipulation of spins with dissipationless readout. Here, we present a new type of non-volatile Josephson junction memory that utilizes the bistable magnetic texture of a single mesoscopic ferromagnet. We use micromagnetic …

We theoretically investigate the phase transition from a non-trivial topological $p$-wave superconductor to a trivial $s$-wave like superconducting phase through a gapless phase, driven by different magnetic textures as an one-dimensional spin-chain impurity, e.g. Bloch-type, in-plane and out-of-plane Néel-type spin-chains etc. In our proposal, the chain of magnetic impurities is placed on a spin-triplet $p$-wave superconductor where we obtain numerically as well as analytically an effective $s$-wave like pairing due to spin rotation, resulting in gradual destruction of the Majorana zero modes…

Helical spin texture and interference of Majorana bound states in one-dimensional topological superconductor
Twisted graphene multilayers provide tunable platforms to engineer flat bands and exploit the associated strongly correlated physics. The two-dimensional nature of these systems makes them suitable for encapsulation by materials that break specific symmetries. In this context, recently discovered two-dimensional helimagnets, such as the multiferroic monolayer NiI$_2$, are specially appealing for breaking time-reversal and inversion symmetries due to their nontrivial spin textures. Here we show that this spin texture can be imprinted on the electronic structure of twisted bilayer graphene by pr…
We study theoretically a moiré superlattice geometry consisting of mirror-symmetric twisted trilayer graphene surrounded by identical transition metal dichalcogenide layers. We show that this setup allows to switch on/off and control the spin-orbit splitting of the Fermi surfaces via application of a perpendicular displacement field $D_0$, and explore two manifestations of this control: first, we compute the evolution of superconducting pairing with $D_0$; this features a complex admixture of singlet and triplet pairing and, depending on the pairing state in the parent trilayer system, phase t…
