Extending Partial Orthogonal Drawings

We study the planar orthogonal drawing style within the framework of partial representation extension. Let $(G,H,Γ_H )$ be a partial orthogonal drawing, i.e., G is a graph, $H\subseteq G$ is a subgraph and $Γ_H$ is a planar orthogonal drawing of H. We show that the existence of an orthogonal drawing $Γ_G$ of $G$ that extends $Γ_H$ can be tested in linear time. If such a drawing exists, then there also is one that uses $O(|V(H)|)$ bends per edge. On the other hand, we show that it is NP-complete to find an extension that minimizes the number of bends or has a fixed number of bends per edge.

Capturing Lombardi Flow in Orthogonal Drawings by Minimizing the Number of Segments

Inspired by the artwork of Mark Lombardi, we study the problem of constructing orthogonal drawings where a small number of horizontal and vertical line segments covers all vertices. Orthogonal Graph Drawing with Inflexible Edges

We consider the problem of creating plane orthogonal drawings of 4-planar graphs (planar graphs with maximum degree 4) with constraints on the number of bends per edge. Upward planar drawings with two slopes

In an upward planar 2-slope drawing of a digraph, edges are drawn as straight-line segments in the upward direction without crossings using only two different slopes. We investigate whether a given upward planar digraph admits such a drawing and, if so, how to construct it. The Complexity of Drawing a Graph in a Polygonal Region

We prove that the following problem is complete for the existential theory of the reals: Given a planar graph and a polygonal region, with some vertices of the graph assigned to points on the boundary of the region, place the remaining vertices to create a planar straight-line drawing of the graph inside the region. Visualizing Multispecies Coalescent Trees: Drawing Gene Trees Inside Species Trees

We consider the problem of drawing multiple gene trees inside a single species tree in order to visualize multispecies coalescent trees. Schnyder decompositions for regular plane graphs and application to drawing

Schnyder woods are decompositions of simple triangulations into three edge-disjoint spanning trees crossing each other in a specific way. In this article, we define a generalization of Schnyder woods to $d$-angulations (plane graphs with faces of degree $d$) for all $d\geq 3$.
