We show that high-$p_T$ $R_{AA}$ and $v_2$ are sensitive to the early expansion dynamics, and that the high-$p_T$ observables prefer delayed onset of energy loss and transverse expansion. To calculate high-$p_T$ $R_{AA}$ and $v_2$, we employ our newly developed DREENA-A framework, which combines state-of-the-art dynamical energy loss model with 3+1-dimensional hydrodynamical simulations. The model applies to both light and heavy flavor, and we predict a larger sensitivity of heavy flavor observables to the onset of transverse expansion. This presents the first time when bulk QGP behavior has been constrained by high-$p_\perp$ observables and related theory, i.e., by so-called QGP tomography.
We present a fully optimised framework DREENA-A based on a state-of-the-art energy loss model. The framework can include any, in principle arbitrary, temperature profile within the dynamical energy loss formalism. Thus, 'DREENA' stands for Dynamical Radiative and Elastic ENergy loss Approach, while 'A' stands for Adaptive. DREENA-A does not use fitting parameters within the energy loss model, allowing it to fully exploit differences in temperature profiles which are the only input in the framework. The framework applies to light and heavy flavor observables, different collision energies, and l…

We propose a new framework, merging High Energy Factorization with final-state jet quenching effects due to interactions in a quark-gluon plasma, to compute di-jet rates at mid- and forward rapidity. It allows to consistently study the interplay of initial-state effects with medium interactions, opening the possibility for understanding the dynamics of hard probes in heavy-ion collisions and the QGP evolution in rapidity.
The collective behavior of hadrons and of electromagnetic radiation in heavy-ion collisions has been widely used to study the properties of the the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP). Indeed this collectivity, as measured by anisotropic flow coefficients, can be used to constrain the transport properties of QGP. The goal of this contribution is to investigate the influence of the specific bulk viscosity ($ζ/s$) on dilepton production, both at Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC) and Large Hadron Collider (LHC) energies. We explore the sensitivity of dileptons to dynamical features that bulk viscosity …
Parton energy loss in the hot QCD medium will manifest itself not only in leading hadron spectra but also in reconstructed jet productions in high-energy nucleus-nucleus collisions. In this paper we report on recent theoretical efforts in studying full jet observables in relativistic heavy-ion collisions by discussing the modifications of jet shapes, inclusive jet cross section and the vector boson accompanied jet production in the presence of the QGP-induced jet quenching.

Suppression of jet spectra or jet quenching in high-energy heavy-ion collisions is caused by jet energy loss in the dense medium. The azimuthal anisotropy of jet energy loss in non-central heavy-ion collisions can lead to jet anisotropy which in turn can provide insight into the path-length dependence of jet quenching. This is investigated within the Linear Boltzmann Transport (LBT) model which simulates both elastic scattering and medium-induced gluon radiation based on perturbative QCD for jet shower and medium recoil partons as well as radiated gluons as they propagate through the quark-glu…
Using the recently published model \cite{Gossiaux:2008jv,goss2} for the collisional energy loss of heavy quarks in a Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP), based on perturbative QCD (pQCD), we study the centrality dependence of $R_{AA}$ and $R_{AA}(p_T^{min})$, %= \frac{dN_{AA}/dp_T}{<N_{binary}> dN_{pp}/dp_T}$ measured by the Phenix collaboration, and compare our model with other approaches based on pQCD and on Anti de Sitter/ Conformal Field Theory (AdS/CFT)
High $p_\perp$ theory and data are commonly used to study high $p_\perp$ parton interactions with QGP, while low $p_\perp$ data and corresponding models are employed to infer QGP bulk properties. On the other hand, with a proper description of high $p_\perp$ parton-medium interactions, high $p_\perp$ probes become also powerful tomography tools, since they are sensitive to global QGP features, such as different temperature profiles or initial conditions. This tomographic role of high $p_\perp$ probes can be utilized to assess the spatial anisotropy of the QCD matter. With our dynamical energy …
Recent data on the azimuthal and transverse momentum dependence of high-pT>10 GeV pion nuclear modification factors in nuclear collisions at RHIC/BNL and LHC/CERN are analyzed in terms of a wide class of jet-energy loss models and a variety of transverse expanding collective flow backgrounds. RHIC data at 200 AGeV are found to be surprisingly consistent with rather different dE/dx models when coupled to recent 2+1D minimally viscous QGP flow field predictions. However, extrapolations to LHC, with parameters fixed at RHIC, favor running coupling QCD based energy-loss models over fixed coupling …
We discuss a non-perturbative $T$-matrix approach to investigate the microscopic structure of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP). Utilizing an effective Hamiltonian which includes both light- and heavy-parton degrees of freedoms. The basic two-body interaction includes color-Coulomb and confining contributions in all available color channels, and is constrained by lattice-QCD data for the heavy-quark free energy. The in-medium $T$-matrices and parton spectral functions are computed selfconsistently with full account of off-shell properties encoded in large scattering widths. We apply the $T$-matrice…
When an energetic parton traversing the QCD medium, it may suffer multiple scatterings and lose energy. This jet quenching phenomenon may lead to the suppression of leading hadron productions as well as medium modifications of full jet observables in heavy-ion collisions. In this talk we discuss the nuclear modification factors and yield ratios of identified meson such as $η$, $ρ^0$, $ϕ$, $ω$, and $K^0_{\rm S}$ as well as $π$ meson at large $p_T$ in A+A collisions at the next-to-leading order (NLO) with high-twist approach of parton energy loss. Then we discuss a newly developed formalism of c…
We calculate the elliptic flow of bottomonia produced in Pb$\,+\,$Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}=5.02$ TeV. We consider temperature-dependent decay widths for the anisotropic escape of various bottomonium states and observe that the transverse momentum dependence of bottomonia elliptic flow provides a tomographic information about the QGP fireball at different stages of its evolution. For the space-time evolution of the fireball, we employ simulation results from the 3+1D quasiparticle anisotropic hydrodynamic model. We find that our results for transverse momentum dependence of bottomoni…
We investigated the information carried by the data of direct photons, ie, the transverse momentum spectrum and the elliptic flow $v_{2}$ from Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=2.76TeV measured at Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and from Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$= 200 GeV measured at Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), in the frame work of (3+1)-dimensional ideal hydrodynamical models constrained with hadronic data. We found those direct photon data may serve as a useful clock at the early stage of heavy ion collisions. The time scales of reaching thermal and chemical equilibrium, …

While strong attenuation of single particle production and particle correlations has provided convincing evidence for large parton energy loss in the QGP, its application to jet tomography has inherent limitations due to the inclusive nature of the measurements. Generalization of this suppression to full jet observables leads to an unbiased, more differential and thus powerful approach to determining the characteristics of the hot QCD medium created in high-energy nuclear collisions. In this article we report on recent theoretical progress in calculating jet shapes and the related jet cross se…
Quarkonium production in high-energy hadronic collisions provides a fundamental test of QCD. Its modification in a nuclear medium is a sensitive probe of the space-time temperature profile and transport properties of the QGP, yielding constraints complementary to the ones obtained from the quenching of light hadrons and jets, and open heavy flavor. In these proceedings, we report new results for the suppression of high transverse momentum charmonium [$J/ψ,\, ψ(2S)$] and bottomonium [$Υ(1S),\, Υ(2S),\, Υ(3S)$] states in Pb+Pb collisions at the Large Hadron Collider. Our theoretical formalism co…
The quark gluon plasma (QGP) is one of the most interesting forms of matter providing us with insight on quantum chromodynamics (QCD) and the early universe. It is believed that the heavy-ion collision experiments at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) have created the QGP medium by colliding two heavy nuclei at nearly the speed of light. Since the collision happens really fast, we can not observe the QGP directly. Instead, we look at the hundreds or even thousands of final hadrons coming out of the collision. In particular, jet and heavy flavor obser…
We update our calculations of thermal-photon production in nuclear collisions at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC). Specifically, we address the recent experimental observation of an elliptic flow of direct photons comparable in magnitude to that of pions, which is at variance with expectations based on quark-gluon plasma (QGP) dominated photon radiation. Our thermal emission rate is based on previous work, i.e., resummed leading-order QGP emission and in-medium hadronic rates in the confined phase. These rates are nearly degenerate at temperatures close to the expected QCD-phase chan…
We study charm production in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions by using the Parton-Hadron-String Dynamics (PHSD) transport approach. The initial charm quarks are produced by the Pythia event generator tuned to fit the transverse momentum spectrum and rapidity distribution of charm quarks from Fixed-Order Next-to-Leading Logarithm (FONLL) calculations. The produced charm quarks scatter in the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) with the off-shell partons whose masses and widths are given by the Dynamical Quasi-Particle Model (DQPM) which reproduces the lattice QCD equation-of-state in thermal equili…
Based on the Kharzeev-McLerran-Warringa (KMW) model that estimates strong electromagnetic (EM) fields generated in relativistic heavy-ion collisions, we generalize the formulas of EM fields in the vacuum by incorporating the longitudinal position dependence, the generalized charge distributions and retardation correction. We further generalize the formulas of EM fields in the pure quark-gluon plasma (QGP) medium by incorporating a constant Ohm electric conductivity and also during the realistic early-time stages QGP evolution by using a time-dependent electric conductivity. Using the extended …
Dynamical energy loss formalism allows generating state-of-the-art suppression predictions in finite size QCD medium, employing a sophisticated model of high-$p_\perp$ parton interactions with QGP. We here report a major step of introducing medium evolution in the formalism though $1+1D$ Bjorken (``B'') expansion, while preserving all complex features of the original dynamical energy loss framework. We use this framework to provide joint $R_{AA}$ and $v_2$ predictions, for the first time within the dynamical energy loss formalism in evolving QCD medium. The predictions are generated for a wide…

Employing nonperturbative transport coefficients for heavy-flavor (HF) diffusion through quark-gluon plasma (QGP), hadronization and hadronic matter, we compute $D$- and $B$-meson observables in Pb+Pb ($\sqrt{s}$=2.76\,TeV) collisions at the LHC. Elastic heavy-quark scattering in the QGP is evaluated within a thermodynamic $T$-matrix approach, generating resonances close to the critical temperature which are utilized for recombination into $D$ and $B$ mesons, followed by hadronic diffusion using effective hadronic scattering amplitudes. The transport coefficients are implemented via Fokker-Pla…
We compare calculations of jet quenching observables at sqrt s = 2.76 ATeV to preliminary LHC data from weak-coupling pQCD and strong-coupling AdS/CFT drag energy loss models. Rigorously constrained to sqrt s = 200 AGeV RHIC pi^0 suppression data and introducing no free parameters, the pQCD-based WHDG model simultaneously describes qualitatively the suppression of light hadrons and quantitatively the azimuthal anisotropy (over many centrality classes) of light hadrons and the suppression of D mesons at LHC. The drag predictions shown here--qualitatively constrained to RHIC data--compare poorly…
