We present a new area law which is associated with the correlator of OPE blocks in higher dimensional conformal field theories (CFTs). The area law shows similar behaviour as black hole entropy or geometric entanglement entropy. It includes a leading term which is proportional to the area of the entanglement surface, and a logarithmic subleading term with degree $q$. We extract the UV cutoff independent coefficients and discuss various properties of the coefficients.
We study $(m)$-type connected correlation functions of OPE blocks with respect to one spatial region in two dimensional conformal field theory. We find logarithmic divergence for these correlation functions. We justify the logarithmic behaviour from three different approaches: massless free scalar theory, Selberg integral and conformal block. Cutoff independent coefficients are obtained from analytic continuation of conformal blocks. A UV/IR relation has been found in connected correlation functions. We could derive a formal ``first law of thermodynamics'' for a subsystem using deformed reduce…
The fixed area states are constructed by gravitational path integrals in previous studies. In this paper we show the dual of the fixed area states in conformal field theories (CFTs).These CFT states are constructed by using spectrum decomposition of reduced density matrix $ρ_A$ for a subsystem $A$. For 2 dimensional CFTs we directly construct the bulk metric, which is consistent with the expected geometry of the fixed area states. For arbitrary pure geometric state $|ψ\rangle$ in any dimension we also find the consistency by using the gravity dual of Rényi entropy. We also give the relation of …
We study dual conformal transformations of minimal area surfaces in $AdS_5 \times S^5$ corresponding to holographic smooth Wilson loops and some other related observables. To act with dual conformal transformations we map the string solutions to the dual space by means of T-duality, then we apply a conformal transformation and finally T-dualize back to the original space. The transformation maps between string solutions with different boundary contours. The boundary contours of the minimal surfaces are not mapped back to the AdS boundary, and the regularized area of the surface changes.
The AdS/CFT correspondence relates the expectation value of Wilson loops in N=4 SYM to the area of minimal surfaces in AdS_5 In this paper we consider minimal area surfaces in generic Euclidean AdS_{n+1} using the Pohlmeyer reduction in a similar way as we did previously in Euclidean AdS_3. As in that case, the main obstacle is to find the correct parameterization of the curve in terms of a conformal parameter. Once that is done, the boundary conditions for the Pohlmeyer fields are obtained in terms of conformal invariants of the curve. After solving the Pohlmeyer equations, the area can be ex…
The ADE classification scheme is encountered in many areas of mathematics, most notably in the study of Lie algebras. Here such a scheme is shown to describe families of two-dimensional conformal field theories.
In conformal field theory (CFT) on simply connected domains of the Riemann sphere, the natural conformal symmetries under self-maps are extended, in a certain way, to local symmetries under general conformal maps, and this is at the basis of the powerful techniques of CFT. Conformal maps of simply connected domains naturally have the structure of an infinite-dimensional groupoid, which generalizes the finite-dimensional group of self-maps. We put a topological structure on the space of conformal maps on simply connected domains, which makes it into a topological groupoid. Further, we (almost) …
In this work we investigate the thermodynamic properties of conformal gravity in four dimensions. We compute the \emph{area(or entropy) functional} relation for this black hole. We consider both de-Sitter (dS) and anti de-Sitter (AdS) cases. We derive the \emph{Cosmic-Censorship-Inequality} which is an important relation in general relativity that relates the total mass of a spacetime to the area of all the black hole horizons. Local thermodynamic stability is studied by computing the specific heat. The second order phase transition occurs at a certain condition. Various type of second order p…
There are certain black hole solutions in general relativity (GR) which are conformally related to the stationary solutions in GR. It is not obvious that the horizon entropy of these spacetimes is also one quarter of the area of horizon, like the stationary ones. Here I study this topic in the context of Virasoro algebra and Cardy formula. Using the fact that the conformal spacetime admits conformal Killing vector and the horizon is determined by the vanishing of the norm of it, the diffemorphisms are obtained which keep the near horizon structure invariant. The Noether charge and a bracket am…
Semiclassical Physics in gravitational scenario, in its first approximation (1st order) cares only for the expectation value of stress energy tensor and ignores the inherent quantum fluctuations thereof. In the approach of stochastic gravity, on the other hand, these matter fluctuations are supposed to work as the source of geometry fluctuations and have the potential to render the results from 1st order semiclassical physics irrelevant. We study the object of central significance in stochastic gravity, i.e. the noise kernel, for a wide class of Friedmann space-times. Through an equivalence of…
We give a construction of the stress-energy tensor of conformal field theory (CFT) as a local "object" in conformal loop ensembles CLE_κ, for all values of κin the dilute regime 8/3 < κ<= 4 (corresponding to the central charges 0 < c <= 1, and including all CFT minimal models). We provide a quick introduction to CLE, a mathematical theory for random loops in simply connected domains with properties of conformal invariance, developed by Sheffield and Werner (2006). We consider its extension to more general regions of definition, and make various hypotheses that are needed for our construction a…
We investigate the $P-V$ criticality and the Maxwell equal area law for a five-dimensional spherically symmetric AdS black hole with a scalar hair in the absence of and in the presence of a Maxwell field, respectively. Especially in the charged case, we give the exact $P-V$ critical values. More importantly, we analyze the validity and invalidity of the Maxwell equal area law for the AdS hairy black hole in the scenarios without and with charges, respectively. Within the scope of validity of the Maxwell equal area law, we point out that there exists a representative van der Waals-type oscillat…
The closed string field theory minimal-area problem asks for the conformal metric of least area on a Riemann surface with the condition that all non-contractible closed curves have length at least 2π. This is an extremal length problem in conformal geometry as well as a problem in systolic geometry. We consider the analogous minimal-area problem for homology classes of curves and, with the aid of calibrations and the max flow-min cut theorem, formulate it as a local convex program. We derive an equivalent dual program involving maximization of a concave functional. These two programs give new …
We present a construction of non-equilibrium steady states within conformal field theory. These states sustain energy flows between two quantum systems, initially prepared at different temperatures, whose dynamical properties are represented by two, possibly different, conformal field theories connected through an impurity. This construction relies on a real time formulation of conformal defect dynamics based on a field scattering picture parallelizing - but yet different from - the Euclidean formulation. We present the basic characteristics of this formulation and give an algebraic constructi…
