In this article a special case of an M/G/2-queue is considered, where the two servers are exposed to two types of jobs that are distributed among the servers via a random switch. In this model the asymptotic behaviour of the workload buffer exceedance probabilities for the two single servers/ both servers together/ one (unspecified) server is determined. Hereby one has to distinguish between jobs that are either heavy-tailed or light-tailed. The results are derived via the dual risk model of the studied M/G/2-queue for which the asymptotic behaviour of different ruin probabilities is determined.
In this paper we give few expressions and asymptotics of ruin probabilities for a Markov modulated risk process for various regimes of a time horizon, initial reserves and a claim size distribution. We also consider few versions of the ruin time.
We investigate the asymptotic of ruin probabilities when the company invests its reserve in a risky asset with a switching regime price. We assume that the asset price is a conditional geometric Brownian motion with parameters modulated by a Markov process with a finite number of states. Using the technique of the implicit renewal theory we obtain the rate of convergence to zero of the ruin probabilities as the initial capital tends to infinity.
In this paper we develop the Gerber-Shiu theory for the classic and dual discrete risk processes in a Markovian (regime switching) environment. In particular, by expressing the Gerber-Shiu function in terms of potential measures of an upward (downward) skip-free discrete-time and discrete-space Markov Additive Process (MAP), we derive closed form expressions for the Gerber-Shiu function in terms of the so-called (discrete) $\boldsymbol{W}_v$ and $\boldsymbol{Z}_v$ scale matrices, which were introduced in arXiv:2008.06697. We show that the discrete scale matrices allow for a unified approach fo…
We consider the jump telegraph process when switching intensities depend on external shocks also accompanying with jumps. The incomplete financial market model based on this process is studied. The Esscher transform, which changes only unobservable parameters, is considered in detail. The financial market model based on this transform can price switching risks as well as jump risks of the model.
We study the asymptotic behavior of ruin probabilities, as the initial reserve goes to infinity, for a reserve process model where claims arrive according to a renewal process, while between the claim times the process has the dynamics of geometric Brownian motion-type Itô processes with time-dependent random coefficients. These coefficients are ``reset" after each claim time, switching to new values independent of the past history of the process. We use the implicit renewal theory to obtain power-function bounds for the eventual ruin probability. In the special case when the random drift and …
In this paper we study the optimal m-states switching problem in finite horizon as well as infinite horizon with risk of default. We allow the switching cost functionals and cost of default to be of polynomial growth and arbitrary. We show uniqueness of a solution for a system of m variational partial differential inequalities with inter-connected obstacles. This system is the deterministic version of the Verification Theorem of the Markovian optimal m-states switching problem with risk of default. This problem is connected with the valuation of a power plant in the energy market.
We solve non-Markovian optimal switching problems in discrete time on an infinite horizon, when the decision maker is risk aware and the filtration is general, and establish existence and uniqueness of solutions for the associated reflected backward stochastic difference equations. An example application to hydropower planning is provided.
This paper is concerned with cost optimization of an insurance company. The surplus of the insurance company is modeled by a controlled regime switching diffusion, where the regime switching mechanism provides the fluctuations of the random environment. The goal is to find an optimal control that minimizes the total cost up to a stochastic exit time. A weaker sufficient condition than that of (Fleming and Soner 2006, Section V.2) for the continuity of the value function is obtained. Further, the value function is shown to be a viscosity solution of a Hamilton-Jacobian-Bellman equation.
We study an open problem of risk-sensitive portfolio allocation in a regime-switching credit market with default contagion. The state space of the Markovian regime-switching process is assumed to be a countably infinite set. To characterize the value function, we investigate the corresponding recursive infinite-dimensional nonlinear dynamical programming equations (DPEs) based on default states. We propose to work in the following procedure: Applying the theory of monotone dynamical system, we first establish the existence and uniqueness of classical solutions to the recursive DPEs by a trunca…
In this paper we consider the Parisian ruin probabilities for the dual risk model in a discrete-time setting. By exploiting the strong Markov property of the risk process we derive a recursive expression for the fnite-time Parisian ruin probability, in terms of classic discrete-time dual ruin probabilities. Moreover, we obtain an explicit expression for the corresponding infnite-time Parisian ruin probability as a limiting case. In order to obtain more analytic results, we employ a conditioning argument and derive a new expression for the classic infinite-time ruin probability in the dual risk…
We consider a dual risk model with constant expense rate and i.i.d. exponentially distributed gains $C_i$ ($i=1,2,\dots$) that arrive according to a renewal process with general interarrival times. We add to this classical dual risk model the proportional gain feature, that is, if the surplus process just before the $i$th arrival is at level $u$, then for $a>0$ the capital jumps up to the level $(1+a)u+C_i$. The ruin probability and the distribution of the time to ruin are determined. We furthermore identify the value of discounted cumulative dividend payments, for the case of a Poisson arriva…
We present two main theorems for stochastic processes with a Markov regime-switching model. First, we work on an existence-uniqueness theorem for a Stochastic Differential Delay Equation with Jumps and Regimes (SDDEJRs). Then, we provide the duality between an SDDEJR and an Anticipated Backward Stochastic Differential Equation with Jumps and Regimes (ABSDEJRs). Our goal is to provide two technical and basis theorems for the future theoretical and applied developments of time-delayed and time-advanced models.
In decision under risk, the primal moments of mean and variance play a central role to define the local index of absolute risk aversion. In this paper, we show that in canonical non-EU models dual moments have to be used instead of, or on par with, their primal counterparts to obtain an equivalent index of absolute risk aversion.
This paper investigates the finite horizon risk-sensitive portfolio optimization in a regime-switching credit market with physical and information-induced default contagion. It is assumed that the underlying regime-switching process has countable states and is unobservable. The stochastic control problem is formulated under partial observations of asset prices and sequential default events. By establishing a martingale representation theorem based on incomplete and phasing out filtration, we connect the control problem to a quadratic BSDE with jumps, in which the driver term is non-standard an…
In this paper, we study a dual risk model with delays in the spirit of Dassios-Zhao. When a new innovation occurs, there is a delay before the innovation turns into a profit. We obtain large initial surplus asymptotics for the ruin probability and ruin time distributions. For some special cases, we get closed-form formulas. Numerical illustrations will also be provided.
This paper studies pricing derivatives in an age-dependent semi-Markov modulated market. We consider a financial market where the asset price dynamics follow a regime switching geometric Brownian motion model in which the coefficients depend on finitely many age-dependent semi-Markov processes. We further allow the volatility coefficient to depend on time explicitly. Under these market assumptions, we study locally risk minimizing pricing of a class of European options. It is shown that the price function can be obtained by solving a non-local B-S-M type PDE. We establish existence and uniquen…
We propose an approach to the aggregation of risks which is based on estimation of simple quantities (such as covariances) associated to a vector of dependent random variables, and which avoids the use of parametric families of copulae. Our main result demonstrates that the method leads to bounds on the worst case Value at Risk for a sum of dependent random variables. Its proof applies duality theory for infinite dimensional linear programs.
