We incorporate the next-to-leading order (NLO) and the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) effects in the models of the Singlet Structure function F_2^S(x,t) and the gluon distribution G(x,t) using DGLAP equations approximated at small x. Analytical solutions both at the next-to leading order (NLO) as well as the next-to-next-to leading order (NNLO) are obtained. We then make comparisons with exact results.
The leading order single inclusive soft gluon production in high energy proton-nucleus (pA) collisions has been studied by various approaches for more than two decades. The first correction due to the gluon saturation in proton was analytically attempted recently through a diagrammatic approach in which only partial results were obtained. An important feature of the first saturation correction is that it includes both initial state and final state interactions. In this paper, we present the complete result derived from the Color Glass Condensate framework. Our approach is to analytically solve…
The modification of quark- and gluon-initiated jets in the quark-gluon plasma produced in heavy-ion collisions is a long-standing question that has not yet received a definitive answer from experiments. In particular, the size of the modifications in the quark-gluon plasma differs between theoretical models. Therefore a fully data-driven technique is crucial for an unbiased extraction of the quark and gluon jet spectra and substructure. Corroborating past results, I demonstrate the capability of a fully data-driven technique called topic modeling in separating quark and gluon contributions to …
The different modifications of quark- and gluon-initiated jets in the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) produced in heavy-ion collisions is a long-standing question that has not yet received a definitive answer from experiments. In particular, the relative sizes of the modification of quark and gluon jets differ between theoretical models. Therefore, a fully data-driven technique is crucial for an unbiased extraction of the quark and gluon jet spectra and substructure. We perform a proof-of-concept study based on proton-proton and heavy-ion collision events from the \textsc{Pyquen} generator with stati…
We investigate the dependence of the deep inelastic proton structure function $F_L(x, Q^2)$ on different forms of the transverse momentum dependent (TMD, or unintegrated) gluon distribution. We present a comparison of theoretical results with the latest experimental data taken by the H1 and ZEUS Collaborations at HERA. We demonstrate that these data, despite of having quite large uncertainties, can test different kinds of the gluon TMD in a proton. Moreover, different phenomenological models at low $x$ could be tested by future experiments on deep inelastic scattering.
The gluon content of the proton is embodied by the unintegrated gluon distribution (UGD), which has universal validity. In literature many models of UGD have been proposed so far. The polarized $ρ$-meson leptoproduction at HERA offers a nowadays unexplored testfield to discriminate among existing models of UGD, via the comparison with theoretical predictions formulated in the $κ$-factorization approach.
We show that the diffractive forward production of two quarkonia, especially the $χ_{cJ}$ and $η_c$ states, in proton-proton or proton-ion collisions can access the Weizsäcker-Williams gluon Wigner distribution of the proton. We use the hybrid factorization approach where the collinear, double gluon PDF is applied for one of the protons and the $k_T$-dependent (Wigner or GTMD) distribution for the other. The production of quarkonia is treated in the NRQCD framework. A particularly concise formula is obtained for double $χ_{J=1}$ production.
We present exploratory studies of the proton content via unpolarized and polarized transverse-momentum-dependent gluon distributions in the proton at leading twist. We make use of an enhanced spectator-model approach to encode in our densities both small- and moderate-$x$ effects. These studies are relevant to the investigation of the inner structure of hadrons via tomographic analyses at new-generation colliding machines.
The gluon content of the proton, in the high-energy regime, is embodied by the unintegrated gluon distribution (UGD), which describes the gluon emission probability, with a given longitudinal momentum fraction and transverse momentum. The UGD, formulated within the $κ$-factorization approach, has universal validity and several models for it have been proposed so far. We will show that the polarized $ρ$-meson leptoproduction at HERA is a not trivial testfield for discriminating among existing models of UGD.
Understanding the origin and mechanism of the transverse polarization of hyperons produced in unpolarized proton-proton collision, $pp\to Λ^\uparrow X$, has been one of the long-standing issues in high-energy spin physics. In the framework of the collinear factorization applicable to large-$p_T$ hadron productions, this phenomenon is a twist-3 observable which is caused by multi-parton correlations either in the initial protons or in the process of fragmentation into the hyperon. We derive the twist-3 gluon fragmentation function (FF) contribution to this process in the leading order (LO) with…
We propose a new analytical expression for the Transverse Momentum Dependent (TMD, or unintegrated) gluon density in the proton. Essential phenomenological parameters are extracted from the LHC data on inclusive hadron production in $pp$ collisions at low transverse momenta, $p_T \sim 1$~GeV. The latter are described in the framework of modified soft quark-gluon string model, where gluonic state and non-zero transverse momentum of partons inside the proton are taken into account. To determine the parameters important at moderate and large $x$ we used measurements of inclusive $b$-jet and Higgs…
We study the azimuthal $\cos φ$ and $\cos 2φ$ asymmetries in heavy-quark pair leptoproduction, $lN\rightarrow l^{\prime}Q\bar{Q}X$, as probes of linearly polarized gluons inside unpolarized proton, where the azimuth $φ$ is the angle between the lepton scattering plane $(l,l^{\prime})$ and the heavy quark production plane $(N,Q)$. First, we determine the maximal values for the $\cos φ$ and $\cos 2φ$ asymmetries allowed by the photon-gluon fusion with unpolarized gluons; these predictions are large, $(\sqrt{3}-1)/2$ and $1/3$, respectively. Then we calculate the contribution of the transverse-mo…
We study the evolution of parton distributions down to low scales by considering several of their Mellin moments. For the initial conditions, we use a broad array of current parton density fits. Confirming earlier findings in the literature, we conclude that current determinations of parton distributions are incompatible with the idea that gluon or antiquark densities are generated by purely perturbative radiation as it is encoded in the DGLAP evolution equations.
