One of the most important and challenging problems in coding theory is to determine the optimal values of the parameters of a linear code and to explicitly construct codes with optimal parameters, or as close to the optimal values as possible. The class of quasi-twisted (QT) codes has been very promising in this regard. Over the past few decades various search algorithms to construct QT codes with better parameters have been employed. Most of these algorithms (such as ASR) start by joining constacyclic codes of smaller lengths to obtain QT codes of longer lengths. There has been an algorithm that works in the opposite way that constructs shorter QT codes from long constacyclic codes. We modified and generalized this algorithm and obtained new linear codes via its implementation. We also observe that the new algorithm is related to the ASR algorithm.
In this paper we characterize the algebraic structure of two-dimensional $(α,β)$-constacyclic codes of arbitrary length $s.\ell$ and of their duals. For $α,β\in \{1,-1\}$, we give necessary and sufficient conditions for a two-dimensional $(α,β)$-constacyclic code to be self-dual. We also show that a two-dimensional $(α,1 )$-constacyclic code $\mathcal{C}$ of length $n=s.\ell$ can not be self-dual if $\gcd(s,q)= 1$. Finally, we give some examples of self-dual, isodual, MDS and quasi-twisted codes corresponding to two-dimensional $(α,β)$-constacyclic codes.
In this paper skew constacyclic codes over finite non-chain ring R = F_q+uF_q+vF_q, where q= p^m, p is an odd prime and u^{2}=u, v^{2}=v, uv = vu = 0 are studied. We show that Gray image of a skew alpha-constacyclic cyclic code of length n over R is a skew alpha-quasi-cyclic code of length $3n$ over F_{q} of index 3. It is also shown that skew alpha-constacyclic codes are either equivalent to alpha-constacyclic codes or alpha-quasi-twisted codes over R. Further, the structural properties of skew constacyclic over R are obtained by decomposition method.
In this note, we study skew cyclic and skew constacyclic codes over the ring $\mathcal{R}=F_{q}+uF_{q}+vF_{q}+uvF_{q}$ where $q=p^{m},$ $p$ is an odd prime, $u^{2}=u,~v^{2}=v,~uv=vu$. We show that Gray images of a skew cyclic and skew $α$-constacyclic code of length $n$ are skew quasi-cyclic code of length $4n$ over $F_{q}$ of index 4. Also, it is shown that skew $α$-constacyclic codes are either equivalent to $α$-constacyclic codes or $α$-quasi-twisted codes over $\mathcal{R}$. Further, structural properties, specially, generating polynomials and idempotent generators for skew cyclic and skew…
Many kinds of codes which possess two cycle structures over two special finite commutative chain rings, such as ${\Bbb Z}_2{\Bbb Z}_4$-additive cyclic codes and quasi-cyclic codes of fractional index etc., were proved asymptotically good. In this paper we extend the study in two directions: we consider any two finite commutative chain rings with a surjective homomorphism from one to the other, and consider double constacyclic structures. We construct an extensive kind of double constacyclic codes over two finite commutative chain rings. And, developing a probabilistic method suitable for quasi…
We introduce a Gray map from $\mathbb{F}_{2^{m}}+u\mathbb{F}_{2^{m}}$ to $\mathbb{F}_{2}^{2m}$ and study $(1+u)$-constacyclic codes over $\mathbb{F}_{2^{m}}+u\mathbb{F}_{2^{m}},$ where $u^{2}=0.$ It is proved that the image of a $(1+u)$-constacyclic code length $n$ over $\mathbb{F}_{2^{m}}+u\mathbb{F}_{2^{m}}$ under the Gray map is a distance-invariant quasi-cyclic code of index $m$ and length $2mn$ over $\mathbb{F}_{2}.$ We also prove that every code of length $2mn$ which is the Gray image of cyclic codes over $\mathbb{F}_{2^{m}}+u\mathbb{F}_{2^{m}}$ of length $n$ is permutation equivalent to…
Let $\mathbb{F}_q$ be a finite field with $q$ elements and denote by $θ: \mathbb{F}_q\to\mathbb{F}_q$ an automorphism of $\mathbb{F}_q$. In this paper, we deal with skew constacyclic codes, that is, linear codes of $\mathbb{F}_q^n$ which are invariant under the action of a semi-linear map $Φ_{α,θ}:\mathbb{F}_q^n\to\mathbb{F}_q^n$, defined by $Φ_{α,θ}(a_0,...,a_{n-2}, a_{n-1}):=(αθ(a_{n-1}),θ(a_0),...,θ(a_{n-2}))$ for some $α\in\mathbb{F}_q\setminus\{0\}$ and $n\geq 2$. In particular, we study some algebraic and geometric properties of their dual codes and we give some consequences and research…
One of the main goals of coding theory is to construct codes with best possible parameters and properties. A special class of codes called quasi-twisted (QT) codes is well-known to produce codes with good parameters. Most of the work on QT codes has been over the 1-generator case. In this work, we focus on 2-generator QT codes and generalize the ASR algorithm that has been very effective to produce new linear codes from 1-generator QT codes. Moreover, we also generalize a recent algorithm to test equivalence of cyclic codes to constacyclic codes. This algorithm makes the ASR search even more e…
New lower bounds on the minimum distance of quasi-twisted codes over finite fields are proposed. They are based on spectral analysis and eigenvalues of polynomial matrices. They generalize the Semenov-Trifonov and Zeh-Ling bounds in a manner similar to how the Roos and shift bounds extend the BCH and HT bounds for cyclic codes.
Spectral bounds on the minimum distance of quasi-twisted codes over finite fields are proposed, based on eigenvalues of polynomial matrices and the corresponding eigenspaces. They generalize the Semenov-Trifonov and Zeh-Ling bounds in a way similar to how the Roos and shift bounds extend the BCH and HT bounds for cyclic codes. The eigencodes of a quasi-twisted code in the spectral theory and the outer codes in its concatenated structure are related. A comparison based on this relation verifies that the Jensen bound always outperforms the spectral bound under special conditions, which yields a …
We begin this chapter by introducing the simple algebraic structure of cyclic codes over finite fields. This structure undergoes a series of generalizations to present algebraic descriptions of constacyclic, quasi-cyclic (QC), quasi-twisted (QT), generalized quasi-cyclic (GQC), and multi-twisted (MT) codes. The correspondence between these codes and submodules of the free $\mathbb{F}_q[x]$-module $\left(\mathbb{F}_q[x]\right)^\ell$ is established. Thus, any of these codes corresponds to a free linear code over the principal ideal domain (PID) $\mathbb{F}_q[x]$. A basis of this code exists and …
Characterizing the duals of linear codes with rich algebraic structures received great interest in recent decades. The beginning was by representing cyclic codes over finite fields as ideals in the polynomial ring. Subsequently, studying the duals of constacyclic, quasi-cyclic, quasi-twisted, generalized quasi-cyclic, and multi-twisted codes appeared extensively in literature. We consider the class of multi-twisted (MT) codes because it extends to all of these codes. We describe a MT code $\mathcal{C}$ as a module over a principal ideal domain. Hence, $\mathcal{C}$ has a generator polynomial m…
In this work, our main objective is to construct quantum codes from quasi-twisted (QT) codes. At first, a necessary and sufficient condition for Hermitian self-orthogonality of QT codes is introduced by virtue of the Chinese Remainder Theorem (CRT). Then we utilize these self-orthogonal QT codes to provide quantum codes via the famous Hermitian Construction. Moreover, we present a new construction method of q-ary quantum codes, which can be viewed as an effective generalization of the Hermitian Construction. General QT codes that are not self-orthogonal are also employed to construct quantum c…
