We carried out UBVRcIc photometric study of three poorly studied young open clusters IC 1442, King 21, and Trumpler 7 (Tr 7). We obtained 263, 244, and 128 member stars using Gaia DR2 proper motions and parallaxes in IC 1442, King 21, and Tr 7, respectively. The reddening, E(B-V), was derived to be 0.54+/-0.04, 0.76+/-0.06, and 0.38+/-0.04 mag for these clusters. The comparison of observed colour-magnitude diagrams (CMDs) with solar metallicity isochrones yields log(Age) = 7.40+/-0.30, 7.70+/-0.20, and 7.85+/-0.25 yr and corresponding distances 2847+/-238, 2622+/-156, and 1561+/-74 pc for IC 1442, King 21, and Tr 7, respectively. The estimated mass function (MF) slopes are found to be -1.94+/-0.18, -1.54+/-0.32, and -2.31+/-0.29 for IC 1442, King 21, and Tr 7, respectively. The study of MF slopes determined separately in the inner and the outer regions of these clusters gives a steeper slope in outer region which suggests spatial variation in slope and mass segregation in the clusters. We found evidence of mass segregation after dynamical study in these clusters. The obtained relaxation time is 74, 26, and 34 Myr for the clusters IC 1442, King 21, and Tr 7, respectively. The mass segregation in IC 1442 may be caused by early dynamical relaxation. The estimated relaxation time is well below to the ages of King 21 and Tr 7 which indicates that these clusters are dynamically relaxed.
Using photometry and high resolution spectroscopy we investigate for the first time the physical connection between the open clusters NGC 5617 and Trumpler 22. Based on new CCD photometry we report their spatial proximity and common age of ~70 Myr. Based on high resolution spectra collected using the HERMES and UCLES spectrographs on the Anglo-Australian telescope, we present radial velocities and abundances for Fe, Na, Mg, Al, Si, Ca and Ni. The measured radial velocities are -38.63 +/-2.25 km/s for NGC 5617 and -38.46 +/-2.08 km/s for Trumpler 22. The mean metallicity of NGC 5617 was found t…
We present JHK near-infrared photometric study for the old open cluster (OC) Trumpler 5 (Tr 5), based on the 2MASS data. From the color-magnitude diagrams of Tr 5, we have located the position of the red giant clump (RGC) stars, and used the mean magnitude of the RGC stars in K-band to estimate the distance to Tr 5, d = 3.1 +/- 0.1 kpc ((m-M)_0 = 12.46 +/- 0.04). From fitting the theoretical isochrones of Padova group, we have estimated the reddening, metallicity, and age : E(B-V) = 0.64 +/- 0.05, [Fe/H] = -0.4 +/- 0.1 dex, and t =2.8 +/- 0.2 Gyr (log t=9.45 +/- 0.04), respectively. These para…
Open clusters are central elements of our understanding of the Galactic disk evolution, as an accurate determination of their parameters leads to an unbiased picture of our Galaxy's structure. Extending the analysis towards fainter magnitudes in cluster sequences has a significant impact on the derived fundamental parameters, such as extinction and total mass. We perform a homogeneous analysis of six open stellar clusters in the Galactic disk using kinematic and photometric information from the Gaia DR2 and VVV surveys: NGC6067, NGC6259, NGC4815, Pismis18, Trumpler23, and Trumpler20. We implem…
This paper presents an investigation of an old age open cluster King 11 using Gaia's Early Data Release 3 (EDR3) data. Considering the stars with membership probability ($P_μ$) $> 90\%$, we identified 676 most probable cluster members within the cluster's limiting radius. The mean proper motion (PM) for King 11 is determined as: $μ_{x}=-3.391\pm0.006$ and $μ_{y}=-0.660\pm0.004$ mas yr$^{-1}$. The blue straggler stars (BSS) of King 11 show a centrally concentrated radial distribution. The values of limiting radius, age, and distance are determined as 18.51 arcmin, 3.63$\pm$0.42 Gyr and $3.33\pm…
With an apparent cluster diameter of 1.5° and an age of ~4 Myr, Trumpler 37 is an ideal target for photometric monitoring of young stars as well as for the search of planetary transits, eclipsing binaries and other sources of variability. The YETI consortium has monitored Trumpler 37 throughout 2010 and 2011 to obtain a comprehensive view of variable phenomena in this region. In this first paper we present the cluster properties and membership determination as derived from an extensive investigation of the literature. We also compared the coordinate list to some YETI images. For 1872 stars we …

We present ASteCA (Automated Stellar Cluster Analysis), a suit of tools designed to fully automatize the standard tests applied on stellar clusters to determine their basic parameters. The set of functions included in the code make use of positional and photometric data to obtain precise and objective values for a given cluster's center coordinates, radius, luminosity function and integrated color magnitude, as well as characterizing through a statistical estimator its probability of being a true physical cluster rather than a random overdensity of field stars. ASteCA incorporates a Bayesian f…
We report our investigation of the first transiting planet candidate from the YETI project in the young (~4 Myr old) open cluster Trumpler 37. The transit-like signal detected in the lightcurve of the F8V star 2M21385603+5711345 repeats every 1.364894+/-0.000015 days, and has a depth of 54.5+/-0.8 mmag in R. Membership to the cluster is supported by its mean radial velocity and location in the color-magnitude diagram, while the Li diagnostic and proper motion are inconclusive in this regard. Follow-up photometric monitoring and adaptive optics imaging allow us to rule out many possible blend s…
A rarely studied open cluster, King 1 is observed using the 1.3m telescope equipped with 2k x 4k CCD at the Vainu Bappu Observatory, India. We analyse the photometric data obtained from the CCD observations in both B and V bands. Out of 132 detected stars in the open cluster King 1 field, we have identified 4 stellar variables and 2 among them are reported as newly detected binary systems, in this paper. The parallax values from GAIA DR2 suggest that the open cluster King 1 is at the background of these two detected binary systems, falling along the same line of sight, giving rise to different…
We present a CCD photometric survey for the search of variable stars in four open clusters namely Berkeley 69, King 5, King 7, and Berkeley 20. The time series observations were carried out for 1 and/or 2 nights for each of the clusters in the year 1998, which have led to identify nineteen variable stars in these clusters. Out of these 19 variable stars, five stars show delta Scuti like variability and two stars show W UMa type variability. In other stars, we could not find the periods and hence the type of variability due to the lack of sufficient data. The periods of delta Scuti type stars a…
We present our photometric observations of GM Cep, a solar type variable in the young (~4 Myr) open cluster Trumpler 37. The star is known as a classical T Tauri star with a circumstellar disk and active accretion. GM\,Cep was suspected to undergo an outburst, thus a candidate for an EXor-type variable. In our monitoring campaign observations in 2010-2011, GM Cep experienced a ~0.82 mag brightness decrease in the R band lasting for 39 days, and frequent, transient flare-like episodes with amplitude < 1 mag, each lasting for about 10 days. The brightening was accompanied with a bluer color, pre…
$UBVRI$ photometry of the five open clusters Czernik 4, Berkeley 7, NGC 2236, NGC 7226 and King 12 has been carried out using ARIES 104 cm telescope, Nainital. Fundamental cluster parameters such as foreground reddening $E(B-V)$, distance, and age have been derived by means of the observed two colour and colour-magnitude diagrams, coupled to comparisons with theoretical models. $E(B-V)$ values range from 0.55 to 0.74 mag, while ages derived for these clusters range from $\sim$10 to $\sim$500 Myr. We have also studied the spatial structure, mass function and mass segregation effects. The presen…
This study reports the first comprehensive astrometric, photometric and kinematical analysis of four newly discovered open clusters; namely QC1, QC2, QC3, and QC4, using astrometric and photometric data from the most recent Gaia EDR3 for G<17 mag. Utilizing the ASteCA code, we identified the most probable (P>=50%) star candidates and found the numbers of star members (N) to be 118 (QC1), 142(QC2), 210 (QC3), and 110 (QC4). By fitting King's density profile to the cluster's RDPs, we found the internal structural parameters of each cluster such as the cluster radii that are in the range 7.00 to …
We present the results of a photometric and astrometric study of the low mass stellar and substellar population of the young open cluster Blanco 1. We have exploited J band data, obtained recently with the Wide Field Camera (WFCAM) on the United Kingdom InfraRed Telescope (UKIRT), and 10 year old I and z band optical imaging from CFH12k and Canada France Hawaii Telescope (CFHT), to identify 44 candidate low mass stellar and substellar members, in an area of 2 sq. degrees, on the basis of their colours and proper motions. This sample includes five sources which are newly discovered. We also con…
Optical UBVRI photometric measurements using the Faulkes Telescope North were taken in early 2011 and combined with 2MASS JHK$_s$ and WISE infrared photometry as well as UCAC4 proper motion data in order to estimate the main parameters of the galactic open cluster NGC 2215 of which large uncertainty exists in the current literature. Fitting a King model we estimate a core radius of 1.12$'\pm$0.04$'$ (0.24$\pm$0.01pc) and a limiting radius of $4.3'\pm$0.5$'$ (0.94$\pm$0.11pc) for the cluster. The results of isochrone fits indicates an age of $log(t)=8.85\pm0.10$ with a distance of $d=790\pm90$p…
Binary systems can evolve into immensely different exotic systems such as blue straggle stars (BSSs), yellow straggler stars, cataclysmic variables, type Ia supernovae depending on their initial mass, the orbital parameters and evolution. The aim of this thesis is to understand the demographics of post-mass-transfer systems (BSSs, white dwarfs and blue lurkers) present in the open clusters and how they are formed. First, we identified the cluster members using Gaia EDR3 data in six open clusters. Two of the clusters, M67 and King2, were studied in detail using UVIT, Gaia, GALEX, 2MASS and othe…
The open star clusters (OSC) are important tracers for understanding the Galactic evolution. The parametric study of these astronomical-objects is crucial task due to the appearing sequence of the members of OSC. These members are defined through the various approaches such as photometric, statistical, kinematics etc. In the present paper, we have been using the photometric colours of the identified stars for categorized them into the blue and red component groups and identification of these groups is possible through (B-V) vs V colour magnitude diagram (CMD). Furthermore, the influence/effect…
