Based on an original classification of differential equations by types of regular Lie group actions, we offer a systematic procedure for describing partial differential equations with prescribed symmetry groups. Using a new powerful algebraic technique based on the so-called covariant form of a differential equation, we give an effective algorithm for constructing differential equations whose symmetry groups regularly and freely act on the space of dependent and independent variables. As an application, we derive a complete classification of quasi-linear scalar second-order partial differential equations with regular free symmetry groups of dimension no greater than three.
All second order scalar differential invariants of symplectic hyperbolic and elliptic Monge-Ampère equations with respect to symplectomorphisms are explicitly computed. In particular, it is shown that the number of independent second order invariants is equal to 7, in sharp contrast with general Monge-Ampère equations for which this number is equal to 2. We also introduce a series of invariant differential forms and vector fields which allows us to construct numerous scalar differential invariants of higher order. The introduced invariants give a solution of the symplectic equivalence of Monge…
In the inverse problem of the calculus of variations one is asked to find a Lagrangian and a multiplier so that a given differential equation, after multiplying with the multiplier, becomes the Euler--Lagrange equation for the Lagrangian. An answer to this problem for the case of a scalar ordinary differential equation of order $2n, n\geq 2,$ is proposed.
In this work we obtain hierarchies of partial differential equations describing on-shell scalar products for two types of six-vertex models. More precisely, six-vertex models with two different diagonal boundary conditions are considered: the case with boundary twists and the case with open boundary conditions. Solutions and properties of our partial differential equations are also discussed.
We give a complete classification of conformally covariant differential operators between the spaces of differential $i$-forms on the sphere $S^n$ and $j$-forms on the totally geodesic hypersphere $S^{n-1}$ by analyzing the restriction of principal series representations of the Lie group $O(n+1,1)$. Further, we provide explicit formulæ for these matrix-valued operators in the flat coordinates and find factorization identities for them.
We give an algorithm to write down all conformally invariant differential operators acting between scalar functions on Minkowski space. All operators of order k are nonlinear and are functions on a finite family of functionally independent invariant operators of order up to k. The independent differential operators of second order are three and we give an explicit realization of them. The applied technique is based on the jet bundle formalism, algebraization of the the differential operators, group action and dimensional reduction. As an illustration of this method we consider the simpler case…
We provide a symmetry classification of scalar stochastic equations with multiplicative noise. These equations can be integrated by means of the Kozlov procedure, by passing to symmetry adapted variables.
A group classification of first-order delay ordinary differential equation (DODE) accompanied by an equation for delay parameter (delay relation) is presented. A subset of such systems (delay ordinary differential systems or DODSs) which consists of linear DODEs and solution independent delay relations have infinite-dimensional symmetry algebras, as do nonlinear ones that are linearizable by an invertible transformation of variables. Genuinely nonlinear DODSs have symmetry algebras of dimension $n$, $0 \leq n \leq 3$. It is shown how exact analytical solutions of invariant DODSs can be obtaine…
This is a short presentation of some classical results on finite dimensional complex Lie algebras (classification of nilpotent Lie algebras, deformations and perturbations, contractions and rigidity). We present some applications to Differential Geometry considering some left invariant structures on Lie groups : contact and symplectic structures, Generalized complex structures on real Lie Group. We present also the notion of riemannian and pseudo-riemannian G-symmetric spaces.
We address the problem of classifying discrete differential-geometric Poisson brackets (dDGPBs) of any fixed order on target space of dimension 1. It is proved that these Poisson brackets (PBs) are in one-to-one correspondence with the intersection points of certain projective hypersurfaces. In addition, they can be reduced to cubic PB of standard Volterra lattice by discrete Miura-type transformations. Finally, improving a consolidation lattice procedure, we obtain new families of non-degenerate, vector-valued and first order dDGPBs, which can be considered in the framework of admissible Lie-…
Classification of differential forms on $κ$-Minkowski space, particularly, the classification of all bicovariant differential calculi of classical dimension is presented. By imposing super-Jacobi identities we derive all possible differential algebras compatible with the $κ$-Minkowski algebra for time-like, space-like and light-like deformations. Embedding into the super-Heisenberg algebra is constructed using non-commutative (NC) coordinates and one-forms. Particularly, a class of differential calculi with an undeformed exterior derivative and one-forms is considered. Corresponding NC differe…
We leverage commutative hypercomplex analysis to find closed-form solutions of some systems of stochastic differential equations. Specifically, we obtain necessary and sufficient conditions under which a system of stochastic differential equations can be transformed into a scalar one involving processes valued in a commutative hypercomplex. In the event the targeted scalar stochastic differential equation is solved by quadratures, we recover the solution of the original system by projecting the solution of the scalar stochastic differential equation along the units of the underlying commutativ…
We discuss aspects of the theory of non-invertible transformations which enter in the problem of classification of diffe\-ren\-tial-difference equations and, in particular, the notion of Miura type transformation. We introduce the concept of non--Miura type linearizable transformation and we present techniques which allow one to construct simple linearizable transformations and help us to solve the classification problem. This theory is illustrated by the example of a new integrable differential--difference equation depending on 5 lattice points, interesting from the viewpoint of the non-inver…
We complete the Lie symmetry classification of scalar nth order, $n \geq 4$, ordinary differential equations by means of the symmetry Lie algebras they admit. It is known that there are three types of such equations depending upon the symmetry algebra they possess, viz. first-order equations which admit infinite dimensional Lie algebra of point symmetries, second-order equations possessing the maximum eight point symmetries and higher-order, $n \geq 3$, admitting the maximum $n + 4$ dimensional symmetry algebra. We show that nth order equations for $n \geq 4$ do not admit maximally an $n + 3$ …
A differential calculus on Cuntz algebra with three generators coming from the action of rotation group in three dimensions is introduced. The differential calculus is shown to satisfy Assumptions I-IV of [1] so that Levi-Civita Connection exists uniquely for any pseudo-Riemannian metric in the sense of [1]. Scalar curvature is computed for the Levi-Civita connection corresponding to the canonical bilinear metric.
We give a complete classification of bicovariant first order differential calculi on the quantum enveloping algebra U_q(b+) which we view as the quantum function algebra C_q(B+). Here, b+ is the Borel subalgebra of sl_2. We do the same in the classical limit q->1 and obtain a one-to-one correspondence in the finite dimensional case. It turns out that the classification is essentially given by finite subsets of the positive integers. We proceed to investigate the classical limit from the dual point of view, i.e. with ``function algebra'' U(b+) and ``enveloping algebra'' C(B+). In this case ther…
An effective algorithmic method is presented for finding the local conservation laws for partial differential equations with any number of independent and dependent variables. The method does not require the use or existence of a variational principle and reduces the calculation of conservation laws to solving a system of linear determining equations similar to that for finding symmetries. An explicit construction formula is derived which yields a conservation law for each solution of the determining system. In the first of two papers (Part I), examples of nonlinear wave equations are used to …
