We investigate the phase diagram of two-dimensional (2D) Hubbard model by employing the optimization variational Monte Carlo method. The 2D Hubbard model is the most simple electronic model for cuprate high-temperature superconductors. The phase diagram consists of three regions; they are antiferromagnetic insulator (AFI) region, superconducting (SC) region and the coexistent region of superconductivity and antiferromgantism. The phase diagram obtained by numerical calculations well agrees with the experimental phase diagram for high-temperature cuprates. We mainly focused on the effect of $t'$ on the antiferromagnetic (AF) correlation and the AFI region. The area of the AF phase increases when we include $t'$ and thus the pure $d$-wave SC phase decreases. The AFI phase near half filling decreases as $|t'|$ increases.
High temperature superconductivity in doped Mott insulators such as the cuprates contradicts the conventional wisdom that electron repulsion is detrimental to superconductivity. Because doped fullerene conductors are also strongly correlated, the recent discovery of high-critical-temperature, presumably s-wave, superconductivity in C$_{60}$ field effect devices is even more puzzling. We examine a dynamical-mean-field solution of a model for electron doped fullerenes which shows how strong correlations can indeed enhance superconductivity close to the Mott transition. We argue that the mechanis…
The intimate connection between antiferromagnetism and superconductivity is at the core of high-temperature superconductivity. Here, we put forward the projected BCS theory for the unification of antiferromagnetism at half filling and strongly correlated superconductivity at moderate doping. Specifically, it is shown that the projected BCS theory provides excellent trial states for the exact ground states of the $t$-$J$ model in the square lattice, generating the unified phase diagram as a continuous function of hole concentration. Precisely capturing antiferromagnetism at half filling, which …
Specific heat studies of CeRhIn5 as functions of pressure and magnetic field have been used to explore the relationship between magnetism and unconventional superconductivity, both of which involve the 4f electron of Ce. Results of these studies cannot be understood as a simple competition for Fermi-surface states and require a new conceptual framework.
In the correlated electron system with the pseudogap, there are full-gapped domains and Fermi-arced domains coexisting. Those domains are created by the quantum-fluctuated antiferromagnetic fluctuations that generate the short-ranged attractive potential to produce the Fermi arcs and the superconductivity. In the full-gapped domains, s-wave or (d_{x^2-y^2}\pm id_{xy})-wave symmetry of the electron pairs is favored. In the Fermi-arced domains, only d_{x^2-y^2}-wave symmetry of pairs is stable. Superconductivity of different pairing symmetry coexists in different domains, as well. Different from…
Recent experiments on twisted bilayer graphene have shown a high-temperature parent state with massless Dirac fermions and broken electronic flavor symmetry; superconductivity and correlated insulators emerge from this parent state at lower temperatures. We propose that the superconducting and correlated insulating orders are connected by Wess-Zumino-Witten terms, so that defects of one order contain quanta of another order and skyrmion fluctuations of the correlated insulator are a "mechanism" for superconductivity. We present a comprehensive listing of plausible low-temperature orders, and t…
It is very important to elucidate the mechanism of superconductivity for achieving room temperature superconductivity. This paper is a short review article on the mechanism of high-temperature superconductivity. In the first half of this paper, we give a brief review on mechanisms of superconductivity in many-electron systems. We believe that high-temperature superconductivity may occur in a system with interaction of large-energy scale. Empirically, this is true for superconductors that have been found so far. In the second half of this paper, we discuss cuprate high-temperature superconducto…
Using functional renormalization group method, we study the favorable condition for electronic correlation driven time reversal invariant topological superconductivity in symmetry class DIII. For non-centrosymmetric systems we argue that the proximity to ferromagnetic (or small wavevector magnetic) instability can be used as a guideline for the search of this type of superconductivity. This is analogous to the appearance of singlet unconventional superconductivity in the neighborhood of antiferromagnetic instability. We show three concrete examples where ferromagnetic-like fluctuation leads to…
This is a "perspective" inspired by the forthcoming article, "What makes the $T_c$ of monolayer FeSe on SrTiO so high: a sign-problem free quantum Monte Carlo study," by Z-X. Li, F. Wang, H. Yao, and D-H. Lee, arXiv:1512.06179.
We present a novel route for attaining unconventional superconductivity (SC) in a strongly correlated system without doping. In a simple model of a correlated band insulator (BI) at half-filling we demonstrate, based on a generalization of the projected wavefunctions method, that SC emerges when e-e interactions and the bare band-gap are both much larger than the kinetic energy, provided the system has sufficient frustration against the magnetic order. As the interactions are tuned, SC appears sandwiched between the correlated BI followed by a paramagnetic metal on one side, and a ferrimagneti…
UTe2 is a promising candidate for spin-triplet superconductors, in which a paramagnetic normal state becomes superconducting due to spin fluctuations. The subsequent discovery of various unusual superconducting properties has promoted the use of UTe2 as an exciting playground to study unconventional superconductivity, but fathoming the normal state fermiology and its influence on the superconductivity still requires further investigation. Here, we theoretically show that electron correlation induces a dramatic change in the normal state fermiology with an emergent correlated Fermi surface (FS)…
Unconventional superconductivity (SC) is said to occur when Cooper pair formation is dominated by repulsive electron-electron interactions, so that the symmetry of the pair wavefunction is other than isotropic s-wave. The strong, on-site, repulsive electron-electron interactions that are the proximate cause of such superconductivity are more typically drivers of commensurate magnetism. Indeed, it is the suppression of commensurate antiferromagnetism (AF) that usually allows this type of unconventional superconductivity to emerge. Importantly, however, intervening between these AF and SC phases…
We review recent studies for superconductivity using diagrammatic extensions of dynamical mean field theory. These approaches take into account simultaneously both, the local correlation effect and spatial long-range fluctuations, which are essential to describe unconventional superconductivity in a quasi-two-dimensional plane. The results reproduce and predict the experimental phase diagrams of strongly correlated system such as cuprates and nickelates. Further studies reveal that the dynamical screening effect of the pairing interaction vertex has dramatic consequences for the transition tem…
We report an unusual persistence of superconductivity against high magnetic fields in the iron chalcogenide film FeTe:O$_{x}$ below ~ 2.5 K. Instead of saturating like a mean-field behavior with a single order parameter, the measured low-temperature upper critical field increases progressively, suggesting a large supply of superconducting states accessible via magnetic field or low-energy thermal fluctuations. We demonstrate that superconducting states of finite momenta can be realized within the conventional theory, despite its questionable applicability. Our findings reveal a fundamental cha…
In quantum materials, electrons that have strong correlations tend to localize, leading to quantum spins as the building blocks for low-energy physics. When strongly correlated electrons coexist with more weakly-correlated conduction electrons, multiple channels of effective interactions develop and compete with each other. The competition creates quantum fluctuations having a large spectral weight, with the associated entropies reaching significant fractions of $R\ln 2$ per electron. Advancing a framework to understand how the fluctuating local moments influence unconventional superconductivi…
In this letter, we reported the results of NMR study on LiFeAs single crystals. We find a strong evidence of the low temperature spin fluctuations; by changing sample preparation conditions, the system can be tuned toward an spin-density-wave (SDW) quantum-critical point. The detection of an interstitial Li(2) ion, possibly locating in the tetrahedral hole, suggests that the off-stoichiometry and/or lattice defect can probably account for the absence of the SDW ordering in LiFeAs. These facts show that LiFeAs is a strongly correlated system and the superconductivity is likely originated from t…
In a recent X-ray absorption study in boron doped diamond, Nakamura et al. have seen a well isolated narrow boron impurity band in non-superconducting samples and an additional narrow band at the chemical potential in a superconducting sample. We interpret the beautiful spectra as evidence for upper Hubbard band of a Mott insulating impurity band and an additional metallic `mid-gap band' of a conducting `self-doped' Mott insulator. This supports the basic framework of a recent theory of the present author of strongly correlated impurity band superconductivity (SCIBS) in a template of a wide-ga…
We calculate the dynamic effective electron-electron interaction potential for a low density disordered two-dimensional electron gas. The disordered response function is used to calculate the effective potential where the scattering rate is taken from typical mobilities from recent experiments. We investigate the development of an effective attractive pair potential for both disordered and disorder free systems with correlations determined from existing numerical simulation data. The effect of disorder and correlations on the superconducting critical temperature Tc is discussed.
By first-principles calculations, we present a doping-dependent phase diagram of LaO{\it M}As ({\it M}=V--Cu) family. It is characterized as antiferromagnetic semiconductor around LaOMnAs side and ferromagnetic metal around LaOCoAs. Both LaOFeAs and LaONiAs, where superconductivity were discovered, are located at the borderline of magnetic phases. Extensive Fermi surface analysis suggests that the observed superconductivity is of electron-type in its origin. We discuss possible pairing mechanisms in the context of competing ferromagnetic phases found in this work and the ferromagnetic spin flu…
We investigate the interplay between lattice-symmetry breaking and superconducting order in a two-dimensional model of doped antiferromagnets, with long-range Coulomb interactions and Sp(2N) spin symmetry, in the large-N limit. Our results motivate the outline of a global phase diagram for the cuprate superconductors. We describe the quantum transitions between the phases, the evolution of their fermion excitation spectrum, and the experimental implications.
We extend the rotationally invariant formulation of the slave-boson method to superconducting states. This generalization, building on the recent work by Lechermann et al. [Phys. Rev. B {\bf 76}, 155102 (2007)], allows to study superconductivity in strongly correlated systems. We apply the formalism to a specific case of strongly correlated superconductivity, as that found in a multi-orbital Hubbard model for alkali-doped fullerides, where the superconducting pairing has phonic origin, yet it has been shown to be favored by strong correlation owing to the symmetry of the interaction. The metho…
A microscopic theory of the electronic spectrum and of superconductivity within the t-J model on the honeycomb lattice is developed. We derive the equations for the normal and anomalous Green functions in terms of the Hubbard operators by applying the projection technique. Superconducting pairing of d + id'-type mediated by the antiferromagnetic exchange is found. The superconducting Tc as a function of hole doping exhibits a two-peak structure related to the van Hove singularities of the density of states for the two-band t-J model. At half-filling and for large enough values of the exchange …
When bilayer graphene is rotationally faulted to an angle $θ\approx 1.1^\circ$, theory predicts the formation of a flat electronic band and correlated insulating, superconducting, and ferromagnetic states have all been observed at partial band filling. The proximity of superconductivity to correlated insulators has suggested a close relationship between these states, reminiscent of the cuprates where superconductivity arises by doping a Mott insulator. Here, we show that superconductivity can appear without correlated insulating states. While both superconductivity and correlated insulating be…
Based on a hybrid interlayer coupling mechanism, we study the coexistence of superconductivity (SC) and antiferromagnetism (AFM) in trilayer cuprates. By introducing an interlayer magnetic scattering term, we solve the multilayer $t{-}J$ model with Josephson coupling under the framework of Gutzwiller projection. We show that both the SC and AFM orders in the multilayered system are enhanced and the range of AFM order is extended. The layer configuration of d-wave pairing gap and AFM order further plays an essential role in determining the interlayer magnetic and superconducting coupling phase …
The slave boson mean-field studies of the ground state of the Hubbard model with correlated hopping were performed. The approach qualitatively recovers the exact results for the case of the hopping integral t equal to the correlated hopping integral X. The phase diagram for the strongly correlated state with only singly occupied sites, the weakly correlated state, where single and double occupation is allowed, and for the superconducting state, was determined for any values of X and any electron concentration n. At the half-filled band (n=1) a direct transition from the superconductor to the M…
Confirmation of the phononic origin of Cooper pair formation in superconductors came with the demonstration that the interaction was retarded and that the corresponding energy scales were associated with phonons. Using cellular dynamical mean-field theory for the two-dimensional Hubbard model, we identify such retardation effects in d-wave pairing and associate the corresponding energy scales with short-range spin fluctuations. We find which frequencies are relevant for pairing as a function of interaction strength and doping and show that the disappearance of superconductivity on the overdope…
A new organic superconductor, possibly with formula $K_3$ p-terphenyl, has been discovered by Wang, Gao, Huang and Chen, reaching a very high $T_c$ of about 120~K. Besides a clear diamagnetic signal, most other details such as stoichiometry and structure are yet unknown. However, pristine p-terphenyl has a familiar $P2_1/a$ staggered bimolecular structure, and it can be reasonably assumed that a similar bimolecular structure could be retained by hypothetical $K_3$ p-terphenyl. We point out that the resulting 2-narrow band metal would support the same $s_{\pm}$ superconductivity recently propos…

We use a Luttinger-Ward functional approach to study the problem of phonon-mediated superconductivity in electron systems with strong electron-electron interactions (EEIs). Our derivation does not rely on an expansion in skeleton diagrams for the EEI and the resulting theory is therefore nonperturbative in the strength of the latter. We show that one of the building blocks of the theory is the irreducible six-leg vertex related to EEIs. Diagrammatically, this implies five contributions (one of the Fock and four of the Hartree type) to the electronic self-energy, which, to the best of our knowl…
Near a Mott transition, strong electron correlations may enhance Cooper pairing. This is demonstrated in the Dynamical Mean Field Theory solution of a twofold-orbital degenerate Hubbard model with inverted Hund's rules on-site exchange, which favors local spin-singlet configurations. Close to the Mott insulator, which is a local version of a valence bond insulator, a pseudogap non-Fermi-liquid metal, a superconductor, and a normal metal appear, in striking similarity with the physics of the cuprates. The strongly correlated superconducting state has a larger Drude weight than the corresponding…
We investigate the ground-state phase diagram of the two-dimensional Hubbard model based on the optimization variational Monte Carlo method. We use a wave function that is an off-diagonal type given as $ψ=\exp(-λK)P_Gψ_0$, where $ψ_0$ is a one-particle state, $P_G$ is the Gutzwiller operator, $K$ is the kinetic operator, and $λ$ is a variational parameter. The many-body effect plays an important role as an origin of spin correlation and superconductivity in correlated electron systems. We examine the competition between the antiferromagnetic state and superconducting state by varying the Coulo…
75As NMR experiments were performed in Ba(Fe1-xRux)2As2 for x=0 to 80%. Magnetic fractions and NMR lineshapes demonstrate that Ru substitution destroys the antiferromagnetic (AF) order inhomogeneously with a magnetic moment distributed from 0.9 to 0 uB. Superconductivity emerges at intermediate Ru doping and coexists with AF order only in the regions where moments are smaller than ~0.3uB, resulting in an original nanoscale texture. This situation contrasts with that of Co substitution, challenging the apparent universality of the phase diagram in Fe-based superconductors.
In this paper we investigate the role of the electronic correlation on the hole doping dependence of electron-phonon and superconducting properties of cuprates. We introduce a simple analytical expression for the one-particle Green's function in the presence of electronic correlation and we evaluate the reduction of the screening properties as the electronic correlation increases by approaching half-filling. The poor screening properties play an important role within the context of the nonadiabatic theory of superconductivity. We show that a consistent inclusion of the reduced screening proper…
We present numerical studies of a quantum ``projected'' SO(5) model which aims at a unifying description of antiferromagnetism and superconductivity in the high-T$_c$ cuprates, while properly taking into account the Mott insulating gap. Our numerical results, obtained by the Quantum Monte Carlo technique of Stochastic Series Expansion, show that this model can give a realistic description of the global phase diagram of the high-$T_c$ superconductors and accounts for many of their physical properties. Moreover, we address the question of dynamic restoring of the SO(5) symmetry at the critical p…
A theoretical analysis of the superconductivity observed recently in Carbon nanotubes is proposed. We argue that ultra-small (diameter $ \sim 0.4 nm$) single wall carbon nanotubes (with transition temperature $T_c\sim 15 ^{o}K$) and entirely end-bonded multi-walled ones ($T_c\sim 12 ^{o}K$) can superconduct by an electronic mechanism, basically the same in both cases. By a Luttinger liquid -like approach, one finds enhanced superconducting correlations due to the strong screening of the long-range part of the Coulomb repulsion. Based on this finding, we perform a detailed analysis on the resul…

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), which are self-assemblies of metal ions and organic ligands, provide a tunable platform to search a new state of matter. A two-dimensional (2D) perfect kagome lattice, whose geometrical frustration is a key to realizing quantum spin liquids, has been formed in the $π$-${d}$ conjugated 2D MOF [Cu$_{3}$(C$_{6}$S$_{6}$)]$_{n}$ (Cu-BHT). The recent discovery of its superconductivity with a critical temperature $T_{\rm c}$ of 0.25\,kelvin raises fundamental questions about the nature of electron pairing. Here, we show that Cu-BHT is a strongly correlated unconventio…
We report neutron scattering measurements, which reveal spin-liquid polymorphism in a '11' iron chalcogenide superconductor, a poorly-metallic magnetic FeTe tuned towards superconductivity by substitution of a small amount of Tellurium with iso-electronic Sulphur. We observe liquid-like magnetic dynamics, which is described by a competition of two phases with different local structure, whose relative abundance depends on temperature. One is the ferromagnetic (FM) plaquette phase observed in the non-superconducting FeTe, which preserves the C$_4$ symmetry of the underlying square lattice and is…
We propose a mechanism of unconventional superconductivity in two-dimensional strongly-correlated electron systems. We consider a two-dimensional Kondo lattice system or double-exchange system with spin-orbit coupling arising from buckling of the plane. We show that a Chern-Simons term is induced for a gauge field describing the phase fluctuations of the localized spins. Through the induced Chern-Simons term, carriers behave like skyrmion excitations that lead to a destruction mechanism of magnetic long-range order by carrier doping. After magnetic long-range order is destroyed by carrier dopi…
The magnetic susceptibility of the organic superconductors $κ$-(h8 or d8-ET)$_{2}$$X$, $X =$ Cu(NCS)$_{2}$ and Cu[N(CN)$_{2}$]Br has been studied. A metallic phase below $T^{*} =$ 37 $\sim$ 38 K for $X =$ Cu[N(CN)$_{2}$]Br and 46 $\sim$ 50 K for $X =$ Cu(NCS)$_{2}$ has an anisotropic temperature dependence of the susceptibility and the charge transport. Partial charge-density-wave or charge fluctuation is expected to coexist with the metallic phase instead of the large antiferromagnetic fluctuation above $T^{*}$. The phase diagram and the superconductivity of $κ$-(ET)$_{2}$$X$ are discussed in…
Based on the dynamical mean field theory (DMFT) and angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), we have investigated the mechanism of high $T_c$ superconductivity in stoichiometric LiFeAs. The calculated spectrum is in excellent agreement with the observed ARPES measurement. The Fermi surface (FS) nesting, which is predicted in the conventional density functional theory method, is suppressed due to the orbital-dependent correlation effect with the DMFT method. We have shown that such marginal breakdown of the FS nesting is an essential condition to the spin-fluctuation mediated supercon…
The magnetic field effect on the phase diagram of the organic Mott system $κ$-(BEDT-TTF)$_{2}$Cu[N(CN)$_{2}$]Br in which the bandwidth was tuned by the substitution of deuterated molecules was studied by means of the resistivity measurements performed in magnetic fields. The lower critical point of the first-order Mott transition, which ended on the upper critical field $H_{\rm c2}$-temperature plane of the superconductivity, was determined experimentally in addition to the previously observed upper critical end point. The lower critical end point moved to a lower temperature with the suppress…
We present a novel phase diagram for the antiferromagnetism and superconductivity in Ce$_2$RhIn$_8$ probed by In-NQR studies under pressure ($P$). The quasi-2D character of antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations in the paramagnetic state at $P$ = 0 evolves into a 3D character because of the suppression of antiferromagnetic order for $P > P_{\rm QCP}\sim$ 1.36 GPa (QCP: antiferromagnetic quantum critical point). Nuclear-spin-lattice-relaxation rate $1/T_1$ measurements revealed that the superconducting order occurs in the $P$ range 1.36 -- 1.84 GPa, with maximum $T_c\sim$ 0.9 K around $P_{\rm QCP}…
Resonant optical excitation of certain molecular vibrations in $κ$-(BEDT-TTF)$_2$Cu[N(CN)$_2$]Br has been shown to induce transient superconducting-like optical properties at temperatures far above equilibrium $T_c$. Here, we report experiments across the bandwidth-tuned phase diagram of this class of materials, and study the Mott insulator $κ$-(BEDT-TTF)$_2$Cu[N(CN)$_2$]Cl and the metallic compound $κ$-(BEDT-TTF)$_2$Cu(NCS)$_2$. We find non-equilibrium photoinduced superconductivity only in $κ$-(BEDT-TTF)$_2$Cu[N(CN)$_2$]Br, indicating that the proximity to the Mott insulating phase and possi…
We report the novel pressure($P$) - temperature($T$) phase diagram of antiferromagnetism and superconductivity in CeRhIn$_5$ and CeIn$_3$ revealed by the $^{115}$In nuclear-spin-lattice-relaxation ($T_1$) measurement. In the itinerant magnet CeRhIn$_5$, we found that the Néel temperature $T_N$ is reduced at $P \geq$ 1.23 GPa with an emergent pseudogap behavior. In CeIn$_3$, the localized magnetic character is robust against the application of pressure up to $P \sim$ 1.9 GPa, beyond which the system evolves into an itinerant regime in which the resistive superconducting phase emerges. We discus…
We report the observation of superconductivity in high-quality Cd$_2$Re$_2$O$_7$ single crystals with room-temperature pyrochlore structure. Resistivity and ac susceptibility measurements establish an onset transition temperature T$_c^{onset}$ = 1.47 K with transition width $Δ$T$_c$ = 0.25 K. In applied magnetic field, the resistive transition shows a type-II character, with an approximately linear temperature-dependence of the upper critical field H$_{c2}$. The bulk nature of the superconductivity is confirmed by the specific heat jump with $Δ$C = 37.9 mJ/mol-K. Using the $γ$ value extracted …
Metallic ferromagnets with strongly interacting electrons often exhibit remarkable electronic phases such as ferromagnetic superconductivity, complex spin textures, and nontrivial topology. In this report, we discuss the synthesis of a layered magnetic metal NiTa$_4$Se$_8$ (or Ni$_{1/4}$TaSe$_{2}$) with a Curie temperature of 58 Kelvin. Magnetization data and \textit{ab initio} calculations indicate that the nickel atoms host uniaxial ferromagnetic order of about 0.7$μ_{B}$ per atom, while an even smaller moment is generated in the itinerant tantalum conduction electrons. Strong correlations a…
Iron-based superconductors have been found to exhibit an intimate interplay of orbital, spin, and lattice degrees of freedom, dramatically affecting their low-energy electronic properties, including superconductivity. Albeit the precise pairing mechanism remains unidentified, several candidate interactions have been suggested to mediate the superconducting pairing, both in the orbital and in the spin channel. Here, we employ optical spectroscopy (OS), angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), ab initio band-structure, and Eliashberg calculations to show that nearly optimally doped NaF…
Two monolayers of graphene twisted by a small `magic' angle exhibit nearly flat bands leading to correlated electronic states and superconductivity, whose precise nature including possible broken symmetries, remain under debate. Here we theoretically study a related but different system with reduced symmetry - twisted {\em double} bilayer graphene (TDBLG), consisting of {\em two} Bernal stacked bilayer graphene sheets, twisted with respect to one another. Unlike the monolayer case, we show that isolated flat bands only appear on application of a vertical displacement field $D$. We construct a …
Superconductivity develops from an attractive interaction between itinerant electrons that creates electron pairs which condense into a macroscopic quantum state--the superconducting state. On the other hand, magnetic order in a metal arises from electrons localized close to the ionic core and whose interaction is mediated by itinerant electrons. The dichotomy between local moment magnetic order and superconductivity raises the question of whether these two states can coexist and involve the same electrons. Here we show that the single 4f-electron of cerium in CeRhIn5 simultaneously produces m…
We use neutron scattering to study the structural and magnetic phase transitions in the iron pnictides CeFeAsO1-xFx as the system is tuned from a semimetal to a high-transition-temperature (high-Tc) superconductor through Fluorine (F) doping x. In the undoped state, CeFeAsO develops a structural lattice distortion followed by a stripe like commensurate antiferromagnetic order with decreasing temperature. With increasing Fluorine doping, the structural phase transition decreases gradually while the antiferromagnetic order is suppressed before the appearance of superconductivity, resulting an el…
Recent discoveries, as well as open questions, in experimentally realized correlated electron materials are reviewed. In particular, high temperature superconductivity in the cuprates and in the recently discovered iron pnictides, possible chiral p-wave superconductivity in strontium ruthenate, the search for quantum spin liquid behavior in real materials, and new experimental discoveries in topological insulators are discussed.
We show magnetotransport results on Ba(Fe$_{1-x}$Co$_x$)$_2$As$_2$ ($0.0 \leq x \leq 0.13$) single crystals. We identify the low temperature resistance step at 23 K in the parent compound with the onset of filamentary superconductivity (FLSC), which is suppressed by an applied magnetic field in a similar manner to the suppression of bulk superconductivity (SC) in doped samples. FLSC is found to persist across the phase diagram until the long range antiferromagnetic order is completely suppressed. A significant suppression of FLSC occurs for $0.02<x<0.04$, the doping concentration where bulk SC…
Even- and odd-frequency superconductivity coexist due to broken time-reversal symmetry under magnetic field. In order to describe this mixing, we extend the linearized Eliashberg equation for the spin and charge fluctuation mechanism in strongly correlated electron systems. We apply this extended Eliashberg equation to the odd-frequency superconductivity on a quasi-one-dimensional isosceles triangular lattice under in-plane magnetic field and examine the effect of the even-frequency component.
By substituting the Fe with the 4d and 5d-transition metals Rh, Ir and Pd in SrFe_2As_2, we have successfully synthesized a series of superconductors SrFe_{2-x}M_xAs_2 (M = Rh, Ir and Pd) and explored the phase diagrams of them. The systematic evolution of the lattice constants indicated that part of the Fe ions were successfully replaced by the transition metals Rh, Ir and Pd. By increasing the doping content of Rh, Ir and Pd, the antiferromagnetic state of the parent phase is suppressed progressively and superconductivity is induced. The general phase diagrams were obtained and found to be s…
We investigated kinetic properties of correlated pairing states in strongly correlated phase of the Hubbard model in two space dimensions. We employ an optimization variational Monte Carlo method, where we use the improved wave function $ψ_λ= e^{-λK}ψ_G$ for the Gutzwiller wave function $ψ_G$ with $K$ being the kinetic part of the Hamiltonian. The Gutzwiller-BCS state is stabilized as the potential energy driven superconductivity because the Coulomb interaction energy is lowered while the kinetic energy increases in this state. In contrast, we show that in the $ψ_λ$-BCS wave function $ψ_{λ-BCS…
Motivated by recent experiments indicating strong superconductivity and intricate correlated insulating and flavor-polarized physics in mirror-symmetric twisted trilayer graphene, we study the effects of interactions in this system close to the magic angle, using a combination of analytical and numerical methods. We identify asymptotically exact correlated many-body ground states at all integer filling fractions $ν$ of the flat bands. To determine their fate when moving away from these fine-tuned points, we apply self-consistent Hartree-Fock numerics and analytic perturbation theory, with good…
