We investigate the evolution of clustering structure through the momentum distributions in the $^{8-10}$Be isotopes. The nucleon dynamics within the inter-cluster antisymmetrization are discussed via the momentum distribution of a Brink type $α$-$α$ wave function. For the state with a small $α$-$α$ distance, we observe a significant depression with a dip structure at zero-momentum and an enhanced tail at relatively higher momentum region. In addition, we find the "cluster structure" in the intrinsic frame of momentum space, which is complementary to its significant $α$-cluster dissolution in the coordinate space because of the strong antisymmetrization. For the physical $^{8-10}$Be isotopes, the Tohsaki-Horiuchi-Schuck-R{ö}pke (THSR) wave functions are adopted. The evolution from the dilute clustering state to the compact one is demonstrated by a successive depression at the zero-momentum of nucleon distribution for the two $α$-clusters within $^{8-10}$Be isotopes. For the compact $^{10}$Be nucleus, the momentum distribution of all nucleons shows significant depression at zero-momentum with a dip structure, which is found to be contributed by both the inter-cluster antisymmetrization and the $p$-orbit occupation of the valence neutrons. This study proposes a new window for the investigations of the $α$-clustering effects via the low-momentum components of nuclei, which is expected to be extended to the heavier nuclear clustering states.
The interplay between the formation of neutron skin and alpha cluster at the dilute surface of neutron-rich nuclei is one of the interesting subjects in the study of neutron-rich nuclei and nuclear clustering. A theoretical model has predicted that the growth of neutron skin will prevent the alpha clustering at the nuclear surface. Quite recently, this theoretical perspective; the suppression of alpha clustering by the neutron-skin formation was first confirmed experimentally in Sn isotopes as the reduction of the (p, p alpha) reaction cross-section. Motivated by the novel discovery, in this w…
The Markov chain statistical multifragmentation model predicts inhomogeneous distributions of fragments and their isospin in the freeze-out volume caused by an angular momentum and external long-range Coulomb field. These effects can take place in peripheral nucleus-nucleus collisions at intermediate energies and lead to neutron-rich isotopes produced in the midrapidity kinematical region of the reactions.
We present a review of recent works on clustering phenomena in unstable nuclei studied by antisymmetrized molecular dynamics (AMD). The AMD studies in these decades have uncovered novel types of clustering phenomena brought about by the excess neutrons. Among them, this review focuses on the molecule-like structure of unstable nuclei. One of the earliest discussions on the clustering in unstable nuclei was made for neutron-rich Be and B isotopes. AMD calculations predicted that the ground state clustering is enhanced or reduced depending on the number of excess neutrons. Today, the experiments…
The potential sub-shell closures N = 32 and N = 34 are analyzed at high spins in the titanium isotopes within the generalized beyond mean field theory considering triaxial deformations and the angular frequency as generator coordinates together with the particle number and the angular momentum conservation. A good description of bulk properties, high angular momenta spectra and transition probabilities is obtained. The outcome at high spin in these nuclei is consistent with the magic number character of N = 32 but not of N = 34.
We study the low-lying collective excitation spectra of the neutron-deficient lead isotopes Pb182-Pb194 by performing a configuration mixing of angular-momentum and particle-number projected self-consistent mean-field states. The same Skyrme interaction SLy6 is used supplemented by a density-dependent zero-range pairing force. This study supports the interpretation of spectra made on the grounds of more schematic models in terms of coexisting spherical, oblate, prolate and superdeformed prolate structures. The model qualitatively reproduces the variation of the spectra with neutron number. Our…
We perform calculations of the variation after parity projection with Skyrme interaction for ground and excited states of even-even Mg isotopes. Using the 3D real-space representation, we can take into account any kind of deformation; e.g., cluster structure, gamma-deformation. We also perform the full 3D angular momentum projection to obtained rotational spectra and B(E2). In 24Mg, the ground K^pi=0+ and several odd-parity bands are calculated. In 30,32,34Mg, our calculation reproduces a breaking of the N=20 magic number, so-called "Island of inversion" phenomena. Properties of both the groun…

The quadrupole deformation properties of the ground and low-lying excited states of the even-even Magnesium isotopes with N ranging from 8 to 28 have been studied in the framework of the angular momentum projected generator coordinate method with the Gogny force. It is shown that the N=8 neutron magic number is preserved (in a dynamical sense) in \nuc{20}{Mg} leading to a spherical ground state. For the magic numbers N=20 and N=28 this is not the case and prolate deformed ground states are obtained. The method yields values of the two neutron separation energies which are in much better agreem…
We investigate the magnetic dipole moments in even-even self-conjugate nuclei from ${}^{12}\mathrm{C}$ to ${}^{44}\mathrm{Ti}$. For the latter, the measured gyromagnetic factors of excited states turn out to assume the same value of $g \approx + 0.5$ within statistical errors. This peculiar feature can be interpreted on the basis of collective excitations of $α$-clusters. Analogously, the behaviour of the same observable is studied for all isotopes obtained by adding one or two neutrons to the considered self-conjugate nuclei. It is found that for the $N = Z + 1$ isotopes the $α$-cluster struc…
We discuss shape coexistence in the neutron-deficient Kr72-Kr78 isotopes in the framework of configuration mixing calculations of particle-number and angular-momentum projected axial mean-field states obtained from self-consistent calculations with the Skyrme interaction SLy6 and a density-dependent pairing interaction. While our calculation reproduces qualitatively and quantitatively many of the global features of these nuclei, such as coexistence of prolate and oblate shapes, their strong mixing at low angular momentum, and the deformation of collective bands, the ordering of our calculated …
We study nucleon momentum distributions of even-even isotopes of Ni, Kr, and Sn in the framework of deformed self-consistent mean-field Skyrme HF+BCS method, as well as of theoretical correlation methods based on light-front dynamics and local density approximation. The isotopic sensitivities of the calculated neutron and proton momentum distributions are investigated together with the effects of pairing and nucleon-nucleon correlations. The role of deformation on the momentum distributions in even-even Kr isotopes is discussed. For comparison, the results for the momentum distribution in nucl…
The recently developed structure model that uses the generator coordinate method to perform configuration mixing of angular-momentum projected wave functions, generated by constrained self-consistent relativistic mean-field calculations for triaxial shapes (3DAMP+GCM), is applied in a systematic study of ground states and low-energy collective states in the even-even magnesium isotopes $^{20-40}$Mg. Results obtained using a relativistic point-coupling nucleon-nucleon effective interaction in the particle-hole channel, and a density-independent $δ$-interaction in the pairing channel, are compar…
We perform simultaneous analysis of (1) matter radii, (2) $B(E2; 0^+ \rightarrow 2^+ )$ transition probabilities, and (3) excitation energies, $E(2^+)$ and $E(4^+)$, for $^{24-40}$Mg by using the beyond mean-field (BMF) framework with angular-momentum-projected configuration mixing with respect to the axially symmetric $β_2$ deformation with infinitesimal cranking. The BMF calculations successfully reproduce all of the data for $r_{\rm m}$, $B(E2)$, and $E(2^+)$ and $E(4^+)$, indicating that it is quite useful for data analysis, particularly for low-lying states. We also discuss the absolute v…
Cluster structure of 16O,18O and 20O is investigated by the antisymmettrized molecular dynamics (AMD) plus generator coordinate method (GCM). We have found the K^π=0$_2^+$ and 0$_1^-$ rotational bands of 18O that have the prominent 14C+αcluster structure. Clustering systematics becomes richer in 20O. We suggest the K^π=0$_2^+$ band that is the mixture of the 12C+α+4n and 14C+6He cluster structures, and the K^π=0$_1^-$ band that has the 14C+6He cluster structure. The K^π=0$_3^+$ and 0$_2^-$ bands that have the prominent 16C+αcluster structure are also found.
We compute the binding energy of neutron-rich oxygen isotopes and employ the coupled-cluster method and chiral nucleon-nucleon interactions at next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order with two different cutoffs. We obtain rather well-converged results in model spaces consisting of up to 21 oscillator shells. For interactions with a momentum cutoff of 500 MeV, we find that 28O is stable with respect to 24O, while calculations with a momentum cutoff of 600 MeV result in a slightly unbound 28O. The theoretical error estimates due to the omission of the three-nucleon forces and the truncation of exci…
The nonlocalized clustering approach is generalized to 8-11Be isotopes with isospin dependent spin-orbit potential. A new form of the Tohsaki-Horiuchi-Schuck-Röpke (THSR) wave function is introduced to provide a correct description for the σ-binding neutron in 11Be. Systematic calculations for 8-11Be isotopes are performed and results fit well with experimental values. The low energy spectrum of 11Be is also obtained, especially the correct spin-parity 1/2+ is reproduced for the intruder ground state. The exotic neutron halo structure of 11Be is studied by calculations of root-mean-square radi…
The $α+ \mathrm{core}$ structure is investigated in even-even Cr isotopes from the viewpoint of the local potential model. The comparison of $Q_α/A$ values for even-even Cr isotopes and even-even $A = 46,54,56,58$ isobars indicates that $^{46}$Cr and $^{54}$Cr are the most favorable even-even Cr isotopes for $α$-clustering. The ground state bands of the two Cr isotopes are calculated through a local $α+ \mathrm{core}$ potential with two variable parameters. The calculated spectra give a very good description of most experimental $^{46}$Cr and $^{54}$Cr levels. The reduced $α$-widths, rms inter…
Calculations within the statistical multifragmentation model show that the neutron content of intermediate mass fragments can increase in the region of liquid-gas phase transition in finite nuclei. The model predicts also inhomogeneous distributions of fragments and their isospin in the freeze-out volume caused by an angular momentum and external long-range Coulomb field. These effects can take place in peripheral nucleus-nucleus collisions at intermediate energies and lead to neutron-rich isotopes produced in the midrapidity kinematic region.
The nucleon density distributions and the thickness of pure neutron matter in Ca isotopes were systematically studied using the Skyrme-Hartree-Fock model (SHF) from the $β$-stability line to the neutron drip-line. The pure neutron matter, related with the neutron skin or halo, was shown to depend not only on the Fermi levels of the neutrons but also on the orbital angular momentum of the valence neutrons. New definitions for the thickness of pure neutron matter are proposed.
The structure of the second 0^+ state of ^{10}Be is investigated using a microscopic $α+α+n+n$ model based on the molecular-orbit (MO) model. The second 0^+ state, which has dominantly the (1/2^+)^2 configuration, is shown to have a particularly enlarged $α-α$ structure. The kinetic energy of the two valence neutrons occupying along the $α-α$ axis is reduced remarkably due to the strong $α$ clustering and, simultaneously, the spin-orbit interaction unexpectedly plays important role to make the energy of this state much lower. The mixing of states with different spin structure is shown to be im…
The electric quadrupole response in $^{112,114}$Sn isotopes is investigated by energy-density functional (EDF) and three-phonon quasiparticle-phonon model (QPM) theory with special emphasis on 2$^+$ excitations located above the first collective quadrupole state and below 5 MeV. Additional quadrupole strength clustering as a sequence of states similar to the recently observed pygmy quadrupole resonance in $^{124}$Sn is found. The spectral distributions and transition densities of these 2$^+$ states show special features being compatible with oscillations of a neutron skin against the isospin-s…
Background: Symmetries are a powerful way to characterize nuclear wave functions. A true dynamical symmetry, where the Hamiltonian is block-diagonal in subspaces defined by the group, is rare. More likely is a quasidynamical symmetry: states with different quantum numbers (i.e. angular momentum) nonetheless sharing similar group-theoretical decompositions. Purpose: We use group-theoretical decomposition to investigate backbending, an abrupt change in the moment of inertia along the yrast line, in $^{48,49,50}$Cr: prior mean-field calculations of these nuclides suggest a change from strongly pr…
In the present work we report comprehensive set of shell model calculations for arsenic isotopes. We performed shell model calculations with two recent effective interactions JUN45 and jj44b. The overall results for the energy levels and magnetic moments are in rather good agreement with the available experimental data. We have also reported competition of proton- and neutron-pair breakings analysis to identify which nucleon pairs are broken to obtain the total angular momentum of the calculated states. Further theoretical development is needed by enlarging model space by including $π0f_{7/2}$…
This paper presents our recent efforts to study the momentum distributions as well as the production of neutron-rich rare isotopes with heavy-ion beams in the energy region of 15 MeV/nucleon. Experimental cross sections of neutron-rich nuclides from collisions of a 86 Kr (15 MeV/nucleon) beam with 64 Ni and 58 Ni targets are presented. Experimental data were obtained from the previous work of our group with the MARS mass spectrometer at the Cyclotron Institute of Texas A&M University. On that note, detailed calculations of yields and momentum distributions of neutron-rich projectile-like fragm…
Clustering plays an important role in the structure of nuclei, especially for light nuclei in the $p$-shell. In nuclear cluster models these degrees of freedom are introduced explicitly. In the Resonating Group Method or in the Generator Coordinate Method the clusters are built from individual nucleons interacting via an effective nucleon-nucleon interaction; the total wave function is antisymmetrized. Fermionic Molecular Dynamics (FMD) goes beyond pure cluster models. It is a microscopic many-body approach using a Gaussian wave packet basis that includes the harmonic oscillator shell model an…

Using an isospin- and momentum-dependent transport model we study near-threshold pion production in heavy-ion collisions induced by radioactive beams at the planned Rare Isotope Accelerator (RIA). We revisit the question of probing the high density behavior of nuclear symmetry energy $E_{sym}(ρ)$ using the $π^-/π^+$ ratio. It is found that both the total and differential $π^-/π^+$ ratios remain sensitive to the $E_{sym}(ρ)$ when the momentum-dependence of both the isoscalar and isovector potentials are consistently taken into account. Moreover, the multiplicity and spectrum of $π^-$ mesons are…
We have performed microscopic distorted-wave Born approximation (DWBA) calculations of differential cross sections for the two reactions 136Sn(p,t)134Sn and 134Sn(t,p)136Sn, which are within reach of near-future experiments with radioactive ion beams. We have described the initial and final nuclear states in terms of the shell model, employing a realistic low-momentum two-body effective interaction derived from the CD-Bonn nucleon-nucleon potential that has already proved quite successful in describing the available low-energy energy spectrum of 134Sn. We discuss the main features of the predi…
The angular momentum projected Generator Coordinate Method using the quadrupole moment as collective coordinate and the Gogny force as the effective interaction is used to describe the properties of the ground state and low-lying excited states of the neutron rich light nuclei 32,34,36Si. It is found that the ground state of the nucleus 34Si is spherical. However, this is not only due to the N=20 shell closure as the ground state of 34Si contains a significant amount of the intruder f7/2 neutron orbital. On the other hand, rather good agreement with experimental data for many observables is ob…
The neutron-rich $^{122-131}$Sb isotopes were produced as fission fragments in the reaction $^{9}$Be($^{238}$U,~f) with 6.2 MeV/u beam energy. An unique setup, consisting of AGATA, VAMOS++ and EXOGAM detectors, was used which enabled the prompt-delayed gamma-ray ($γ$) spectroscopy of fission fragments in the time range of 100 ns - 200 $μ$s. New isomers, prompt and delayed transitions were established in the even-A $^{122-130}$Sb isotopes. In the odd-A $^{123-131}$Sb isotopes, new prompt and delayed $γ$-ray transitions were identified, in addition to the confirmation of the previously known iso…
The neutron halo structure of $^{6}$He and of $^{8}$He is studied in a microscopic three-body and five-body model, respectively. Various cluster arrangements are included to embody a variety of correlations between the clusters. The intercluster wave function is determined with the stochastic variational method. The $^{6}$He and $^{8}$He energies are reproduced with the same effective force very well. The radii and densities are compared with the results of empirical analyses. The calculated difference of the neutron and proton radii exceeds 0.8 fm, confirming the thick neutron skin. The two-n…
The study of the hyperfine (hfs) anomaly in neutron rich nuclei can give a very specific and unique way to study the neutron distribution and the clustering structure. We study the sensitivity of the hfs anomaly to the clustering effects in the 9Be isotope using two different nuclear wave functions obtained in the three-cluster (alpha+alpha+n) model. The results are compared to those obtained for 9,11Be in a two-body core + neutron model to examine whether the hfs anomaly is sensitive to a halo structure in 11Be.
A novel pathway for the formation of multi-particle-multi-hole (np-mh) excited states in rare isotopes is reported from highly energy- and momentum-dissipative inelastic-scattering events measured in reactions of an intermediate-energy beam of 38Ca on a Be target. The negative-parity,complex-structure final states in 38Ca were observed following the in-beam gamma-ray spectroscopy of events in the 9Be(38Ca,38Ca+gamma)X reaction in which the scattered projectile lost longitudinal momentum of order p = 700 MeV/c. The characteristics of the observed final states are discussed and found to be consi…
We count the number of pairs in the single j-shell model of {44}Ti for various interactions. For a state of total angular momentum I, the wave function can be written in terms of the probability amplitude D(Jp Jn) that the protons couple to Jp and the neutrons to Jn. For I=0 there are three states with (I=0,T=0) and one with (I=0,T=2). The latter is the double analog of {44}Ca. In that case (T=2), the magnitude of D(JJ) is the same as that of a corresponding two-particle fractional parentage coefficient. In counting the number of pairs with an even angular momentum J, we find a new relationshi…
Reactions are an important tool to study nuclear structure and for extracting reactions relevant for astrophysics. In this paper we focus on deuteron induced reactions which can provide information on neutron shell evolution as well as neutron capture cross sections. We review recent work on the systematic comparison of the continuum discretized coupled channel method, the adiabatic wave approximation and the Faddeev momentum-space approach. We also explore other aspects of the reaction mechanism and discuss in detail difficulties encountered in the calculations.
Recently, values for the Kumar quadrupole deformation parameters of the nucleus $^{130}$Xe have been computed from the results of a Coulomb excitation experiment, indicating that this xenon isotope has a prominent triaxial ground state. Within a different context, it was recently argued that the analysis of particle correlations in the final states of ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions performed at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) points to a similar structure for the adjacent isotope, $^{129}$Xe. In the present work, we report on state-of-the-art multi-reference energy density functional …
Based on the transport model isospin-dependent Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck coupled with a phase-space coalescence afterburner, we studied the effects of the high-momentum tail (HMT) of nucleon momentum distribution in initialization in 197Au+197Au reactions at a beam energy of 400 MeV/nucleon with different impact parameters. We found remarkable impact parameter-dependent HMT effects on the fragment multiplicity distribution. The average neutron to proton ratio of produced isotopes is also affected by the HMT. The rapidity distributions of triton and 3He and their elliptic flows are all evident…
In the present work recently available experimental data for high-spin states of four nuclei, $^{124}_{\ 52}$Te, $^{125}_{\ 52}$Te, $^{126}_{\ 52}$Te, and $^{127}_{\ 52}$Te have been interpreted using state-of-the-art shell model calculations. The calculations have been performed in the $50-82$ valence shell composed of $1g_{7/2}$, $2d_{5/2}$, $1h_{11/2}$, $3s_{1/2}$, and $2d_{3/2}$ orbitals. We have compared our results with the available experimental data for excitation energies and transition probabilities, including high-spin states. The results are in reasonable agreement with the availab…
Nuclear clustering describes the appearance of structures resembling smaller nuclei such as alpha particles (4He nuclei) within the interior of a larger nucleus. While clustering is important for several well-known examples, much remains to be discovered about the general nature of clustering in nuclei. In this letter we present lattice Monte Carlo calculations based on chiral effective field theory for the ground states of helium, beryllium, carbon, and oxygen isotopes. By computing model-independent measures that probe three- and four-nucleon correlations at short distances, we determine the…
$α$-clustering study since the pioneering discovery of $^{12}$C+$^{12}$C molecular resonances half a century ago. Our knowledge on physics of nuclear molecules has increased considerably and nuclear clustering remains one of the most fruitful domains of nuclear physics, facing some of the greatest challenges and opportunities in the years ahead. The occurrence of "exotic" shapes in light $N$=$Z$ $α$-like nuclei is investigated. Various approaches of the superdeformed and hyperdeformed bands associated with quasimolecular resonant structures are presented. Evolution of clustering from stability…
We study the structures of the unstable Be isotopes with the theoretical method of antisymmetrized molecular dynamics. It is found that various structures of the excited states appear in the low-energy region of neutron-rich Be nuclei. Focusing on the 2$α$ clustering, we analyze the intrinsic structures with the help of the experimental data of Gamow-Teller transitions.
The clustering of nucleons in nuclei is a widespread but elusive phenomenon for study. Here, we wish to highlight the variety of theoretical approaches, and demonstrate how they are mutually supportive and complementary. On the experimental side, we describe recent advances in the study of the classic cluster nucleus 24Mg. Also, recent studies of clustering in nuclei approaching the neutron drip line are described. In the region near N/Z=2, both theory and experiment now suggest that multi-centre cluster structure is important, in particular for the very neutron rich beryllium isotopes.
Aiming to understand the role of triaxiality and the evolution of the ground state nuclear shapes, we have carried out a microscopic study for a series of chains of Pd, Xe, Ba, Nd, Sm, Gd, and Dy isotopes. This is done within the self-consistent Relativistic-Hartree-Bogoliubov (RHB) formalism, and supported by the Triaxial Projected Shell Model (TPSM) approach. Pairing interaction separable in the momentum space with DD-ME2 force parameter is used to generate the potential energy surfaces(PESs) under the axial and triaxial symmetry. Shape evolution manifest themself in very clear manner in alm…
The proton-proton momentum correlation function is constructed in three-body photo-disintegration channels from $^{12}$C and $^{16}$O targets in the quasi-deuteron regime within the framework of an extended quantum molecular dynamics model. Using the formula of Lednicky and Lyuboshitz (LL) for the momentum correlation function, we obtain a proton-proton momentum correlation function for the specific three-body photon-disintegration channels of $^{12}$C and $^{16}$O targets, which are assumed to have different initial geometric structures, and extract their respective emission source sizes for …
Shape transitions and shape coexistence in the $^{70-98}$Kr region are studied in a unified view with state-of-the-art beyond self-consistent mean field methods based on the Gogny D1S interaction. Beyond mean field effects are taken into account through the exact angular momentum and particle number restoration and the possibility of axial and non-axial shape mixing. The results of the low-lying properties of these isotopes are in good agreement with the experimental data when the triaxial degree of freedom is included. Shape transitions from axial-oblate ($^{70-72}$Kr) to triaxial-prolate ($^…
In the last few years, the low-momentum nucleon-nucleon (NN) interaction V-low-k derived from free-space NN potentials has been successfully used in shell-model calculations. V-low-k is a smooth potential which preserves the deuteron binding energy as well as the half-on-shell T-matrix of the original NN potential up to a momentum cutoff Lambda. In this paper we put to the test a new low-momentum NN potential derived from chiral perturbation theory at next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order with a sharp low-momentum cutoff at 2.1 fm-1. Shell-model calculations for the oxygen isotopes using effec…

Using two theoretical models (the post form finite range distorted wave Born approximation and the adiabatic model) we calculate the parallel momentum distribution of the charged core in the Coulomb breakup of Be isotopes on a heavy target at 100 MeV/u. We show that the full width at half maxima of the parallel momentum distribution can be used to study the breakdown of N = 8 magic number away from the valley of stability.
The role of three-nucleon forces (3NF) in the description of nuclear structure properties is nowadays a main topic in the field of microscopic many-nucleon calculations. We investigate the relative weight between effective two- and three-nucleon forces in neutron-rich nuclei beyond the doubly-closed 132Sn core within the realistic shell-model framework, studying the evolution of the spectroscopic properties of N=82 isotopes and heavy tin isotopes. This problem is tackled indirectly without explicitly taking into account effective 3NF through the comparison of the results of shell-model calcula…
The anomalous large radii are exotic phenomena observed around the neutron dripline. Around the neutron dripline, the weak binding of the last bound neutron(s) causes the drastic increase of the radius, which is called neutron halo structure. Although the nucleus $^{24}$O is located at the dripline of Oxygen isotopes, the separation energies of one and two neutron(s) are 4.19 MeV and 6.92 MeV, respectively. In spite of this enough binding, the enhancement of the matter radius is observed. In this study, we microscopically describe the structure change of $^{22}$O core in $^{24}$O and explain t…
We discuss the role of clustering on monopole, dipole, and quadrupole excitations in nuclei in the framework of the ab initio symmetry-adapted no-core shell model (SA-NCSM). The SA-NCSM starts from nucleon-nucleon potentials and, by exploring symmetries known to dominate the nuclear dynamics, can reach nuclei up through the calcium region by accommodating ultra-large model spaces critical to descriptions of clustering and collectivity. The results are based on calculations of electromagnetic sum rules and discretized responses using the Lanczos algorithm, that can be used to determine response…
We study both the spin-average and spin-dependent structure functions of the lithium isotopes, $^{6-11}$Li, which could be measured at RIKEN and other nuclear facilities in the future. It is found that the light-cone momentum distribution of the valence neutron in the halo of $^{11}$Li is very sharp and symmetric around y = 1, because of the weak binding. The EMC ratios for Li isotopes are then calculated. We study the possibility of extracting the neutron structure function from data for the nuclear structure functions of the Li isotopes. Next we calculate the spin-dependent structure functio…
The effect of projectile shape on cross sections and momentum distributions of fragments from heavy ion reactions is studied. We propose a new approach that implements the underlying symmetries of each isotope with a few parameters directly in the density. Various densities and their nuclear structure are then analyzed in the reactions of $^{12}$C and $^{11}$Li, $^{11}$Be, and $^{11}$C on a carbon target.
Knowledge on nuclear cluster physics has increased considerably as nuclear clustering remains one of the most fruitful domains of nuclear physics, facing some of the greatest challenges and opportunities in the years ahead. The occurrence of "exotic" shapes in light N=Z alpha-like nuclei and the evolution of clustering from stability to the drip-lines are being investigated more and more accurately both theoretically and experimentally. Experimental progresses in understanding these questions were recently examined and will be further revisited in this introductory talk: clustering aspects are…
We have studied the nuclear structure properties like binding energy, charge radius, quadrupole deformation parameter for various isotopes of Al from the valley of stability to drip line region using the well known relativistic mean field formalism (RMF) with NL3 parameter set. We have compared our results with experimental data and found reasonable agreement. Further, we have taken spherical and deformed RMF densities to estimate the reaction dynamics of $^{23-28}$Al isotopes as projectiles and $^{12}$C as target by conjunction in Glauber model. The estimated results are also compared with th…
