Hořava-Lifshitz (HL) gravity was formulated in hope of solving the non-renormalization problem in Einstein gravity and the ghost problem in higher derivative gravity theories by violating Lorentz invariance. In this work we consider the spherically symmetric neutral AdS black hole evaporation process in HL gravity in various spacetime dimensions $d$, and with detailed balance violation parameter $0\leqslant ε^2\leqslant 1$. We find that the lifetime of the black holes under Hawking evaporation is dimensional dependent, with $d=4,5$ behave differently from $d\geqslant 6$. For the case of $ε=0$, in $d=4,5$, the black hole admits zero temperature state, and the lifetime of the black hole is always infinite. This phenomenon obeys the third law of black hole thermodynamics, and implies that the black holes become an effective remnant towards the end of the evaporation. As $d\geqslant 6$, however, the lifetime of black hole does not diverge with any initial black hole mass, and it is bounded by a time of the order of $\ell^{d-1}$, similar to the case of Schwarzschild-AdS in Einstein gravity (which corresponds to $ε^2=1$), though for the latter this holds for all $d\geqslant 4$. The case of $0<ε^2<1$ is also qualitatively similar with $ε=0$.
We study the holographic dark energy on the subject of Ho$\check{r}$ava-Lifshitz gravity with a time dependent gravitational constant (G(t)), in the non-flat space-time. We obtain the differential equation that specify the evolution of the dark energy density parameter based on varying gravitational constant. we find out a relation for the state parameter of the dark energy equation to low redshifts which containing varying $G$ correction.
Quantum cosmology of the Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker model with cosmological constant in the Ho$\check{\rm r}$ava-Lifshitz type gravity is studied in the phase space by means of the Wigner function. The modification of the usual general relativity description by the Ho$\check{\rm r}$ava-Lifshitz type gravity induces a new scenario for the origin of the Universe with an embryonic era where the Universe can exist classically before the tunneling process takes place and which gives rise to the current evolution of the Universe. The Wigner functions corresponding to the Hartle-Hawking, Vil…
In this paper, we investigate the fermions Hawking radiation and quasinormal modes in infra-red modified Ho$\check{r}$ava-Lifshitz gravity under tunneling and perturbation perspectives.Firstly, through the fermions tunneling in IR modified Ho$\check{r}$ava-Lifshitz gravity,we obtain the Hawking radiation emission rate, tunneling temperature and entropy for the Kehagias-Sfetsos black hole. It is found that the results of fermions tunneling are in consistence with the thermodynamics results obtained by calculating surface gravity.Secondly, we numerically calculate the lowing quasinormal modes fr…
The modified field equations are written in logarithmic and power law versions of entropy corrected models in Einstein's gravity in the background of FRW universe. In one section, a brief review of the Ho$\check{\text r}$ava-Lifshitz gravity is discussed and the modified field equations in logarithmic and power law versions of entropy corrected models in Ho$\check{\text r}$ava-Lifshitz gravity are formulated. The stability analysis for these models are performed by describing the dynamical system. In another section, a brief review of the fractal universe is presented and the modified field eq…
In this work we intend to address the matter-antimatter asymmetry via the gravitational baryogenesis mechanism in the background of a quantum theory of gravity. We investigate this mechanism under the framework of Ho$\check{r}$ava-Lifshitz gravity. We will compute the baryon-to-entropy ratio in the chosen framework and investigate its physical viability against the observational bounds. We also conduct the above study for various sources of matter like scalar field and Chaplygin gas as specific examples. We speculate that quantum corrections from the background geometry will lead to interestin…
Motivated by recent logarithmic entropy of Ho$\check{r}$ava-Lifshitz gravity, we investigate Hawking radiation for Kehagias-Sfetsos black hole from tunneling perspective. After considering the effect of self-gravitation, we calculate the emission rate and entropy of quantum tunneling by using Kraus-Parikh-Wilczek method. Meanwhile, both massless and massive particles are considered in this letter. Interestingly, two types tunneling particles have the same emission rate $Γ$ and entropy $S_b$ whose analytical formulae are $Γ= \exp{[π(r_{in}^2 - r_{out}^2t)/2 + π/α\ln r_{in}/r_{out}]}$ and $S_b =…
We describe a classical configuration of conformal matter forming a naked singularity and discuss its subsequent Hawking evaporation within the context of two dimensional dilaton gravity. The one loop analysis is credible for a large mass naked singularity and suggests the existence of a weak cosmological censorship that would cause it to explode into radiation upon forming. In this work, some new integrable and nonintegrable cosmological models of the Ho$\check{r}$ava-Lifshitz gravity are proposed. For some of them, exact solutions are presented. Then these results extend for the F(R) Ho$\check{r}$ava-Lifshitz gravity theory case. In particular, several integrable cosmological models of this modified gravity theory were constructed in the explicit form.
We investigate the validity of a \emph{minimal} cosmological model derived from the renormalizable Ho$\check{\textrm{r}}$ava action at low redshift scales by using different cosmological and statistical tests. Assuming pure attractive gravity, i.e., $λ>1/3$ in the Ho$\check{\textrm{r}}$ava action, we compare the Union 2.1 supernova type Ia data with the kinematics following from a model-independent approach. The two approaches, although compatible, lead to explicit cosmographic constraints on the free parameters of the Ho$\check{\textrm{r}}$ava action, which turn out to be in strong disagreeme…
By using the canonical Hamiltonian method, we obtain the mass and entropy of the black holes with general dynamical coupling constant $λ$ in Hoř ava-Lifshitz Gravity. Regardless of whether the horizon is sphere, plane or hyperboloid, we find these black holes are thermodynamically stable in some parameter space and unstable phase also exists in other parameter space. The relation between the entropy and horizon area of the black holes has an additional coefficient depending on the coupling constant $λ$, compared to the $λ=1$ case. For $λ=1$, the well-known coefficient of one quarter is recover…
Most available studies of quasi-normal modes for Lifshitz black solutions are limited to the neutral scalar perturbations. In this paper, we investigate the wave dynamics of massive charged scalar perturbation in the background of $(3+1)$-dimensional charged dilaton Lifshitz black branes/holes. We disclose the dependence of the quasi-normal modes on the model parameters, such as the Lifshitz exponent $z$, the mass and charge of the scalar perturbation field and the charge of the Lifshitz configuration. In contrast with neutral perturbations, we observe the possibility to destroy the original L…
We study primordial gravitational waves produced during inflation in quantum gravity at a Lifshitz point proposed by Ho${\rm\check{r}}$ava. Assuming power-counting renormalizability, foliation preserving diffeomorphism invariance, and the condition of detailed balance, we show that primordial gravitational waves are circularly polarized due to parity violation. The chirality of primordial gravitational waves is a quite robust prediction of quantum gravity at a Lifshitz point which can be tested through observations of cosmic microwave background radiation and stochastic gravitational waves.
The evaporation of black holes raises a number of conceptual issues, most of them related to the final stages of evaporation, where the interplay between the central singularity and Hawking radiation cannot be ignored. Regular models of black holes replace the central singularity with a nonsingular spacetime region, in which an effective classical geometric description is available. It has been argued that these models provide an effective, but complete, description of the evaporation of black holes at all times up to their eventual disappearance. However, here we point out that known models f…
In this Letter, we examine the phantom energy accretion onto a Kehagias-Sfetsos black hole in Ho$\check{r}$ava Lifshitz gravity. To discuss the accretion process onto the black hole, the equations of phantom flow near the black hole have been derived. It is found that mass of the black hole decreases because of phantom accretion. We discuss the conditions for critical accretion. Graphically, it has been found that the critical accretion phenomena is possible for different values of parameters. The results for the Schwarzschild black hole can be recovered in the limiting case.
Black holes of sufficiently large initial radius are expected to be well described by a semiclassical analysis at least until half of their initial mass has evaporated away. For a small number of spacetime dimensions, this holds as long as the black hole is parametrically larger than the Planck length. In that case, curvatures are small and backreaction onto geometry is expected to be well described by a time-dependent classical metric. We point out that at large $D$, small curvature is insufficient to guarantee a valid semiclassical description of black holes. Instead, the strongest bounds co…
In this work, we have investigated the validity of GSL of thermodynamics in a universe (open, closed and flat) governed by Ho$\check{\text r}$ava-Lifshitz gravity. If the universe contains barotropic fluid the corresponding solutions have been obtained. The validity of GSL have been examined by two approaches: (i) robust approach and (ii) effective approach. In robust approach, we have considered the universe contains only matter fluid and the effect of the gravitational sector of HL gravity was incorporated through the modified black hole entropy on the horizon. Effective approach is that all…
We perform a detailed study on the integrability of the Hoř% ava-Lifshitz scalar field cosmology in a Friedmann--Lema\^ı% tre--Robertson--Walker background spacetime. The approach we follow to determine the integrability is that of the Singularity Analysis. More specifically, we test if the gravitational field equations possesses the Painlevé property. For the exponential potential of the scalar field we are able to perform an analytic explicit integration of the field equations and write the solution in terms of Laurent expansion and more specifically write the solution in terms of Right Pain…
Recently, Ho$\breve{r}$ava proposed a non-relativistic renormalizable theory of gravity which is essentially a field theoretic model for a UV complete theory of gravity and reduces to Einstein gravity with a non-vanishing cosmological constant in IR. Also the theory admits a Lifshitz scale-invariance in time and space with broken Lorentz symmetry at short scale. On the other hand, at large distances higher derivative terms do not contribute and the theory coincides with general relativity. Subsequently, Cai and his collaborators and then Catiuo et al have obtained black hole solutions in this …
In an approach to quantum gravity where space-time arises from coarse graining of fundamentally discrete structures, black hole formation and subsequent evaporation can be described by a unitary evolution without the problems encountered by the standard remnant scenario or the schemes where information is assumed to come out with the radiation while evaporation (firewalls and complementarity). The final state is purified by correlations with the fundamental pre-geometric structures (in the sense of Wheeler) which are available in such approaches, and, like defects in the underlying space-time …
It has been postulated that black holes could be created in particle collisions within the range of the available energies for nowadays colliders (LHC). In this paper we analyze the evaporation of a type of black holes that are candidates for this specific behaviour, namely, small black holes on a brane in a world with large extra-dimensions. We examine their evolution under the assumption that energy conservation is satisfied during the process and compare it with the standard evaporation approach. We claim that, rather than undergoing a quick total evaporation, black holes become quasi-stabl…
We describe BlackHawk, a public C program for calculating the Hawking evaporation spectra of any black hole distribution. This program allows the users to compute the primary and secondary spectra of stable or long-lived particles generated by Hawking radiation of the distribution of black holes, and to study their evolution in time. The physics of Hawking radiation is presented, and the capabilities, features and usage of BlackHawk are described here under the form of a manual. This is the BlackHawk v2.0 manual, which is available on the BlackHawk webpage http://blackhawk.hepforge.org/. A bri…
It has been conjectured that Micro Black Holes (MBH) may be formed in the presence of large extra dimensions. These MBHs have very small mass and they decay almost instantaneously. Taking into consideration quantum effects, they should Hawking radiate mainly to Standard Model particles, this radiation then gets modified by the non trivial geometry around the MBHs; the so called greybody factors which filter the Hawking radiation. To test the validity of MBH models, one needs to investigate it experimentally. A primary tool in this investigation is simulation of the MBH formation and evaporatio…
Quantum physics at scales large compared to the Planck scale is described in the framework of classical space-time geometries. A criterion for selecting these backgrounds out of quantized gravity is proposed. It leads to an instability of the black-hole geometry, as experienced by motion across the horizon, against emission of Hawking quanta. A phenomenological treatment of the evaporation process perceived by external observers who do not cross the event horizon is presented. Evaporation occurs within a topologically trivial ``achronon" geometrical background devoid of horizons and singularit…
In the semiclassical treatment of gravity, an external observer can measure only the mean (not the exact) mass of the black hole (BH). By contrast, in fully quantum gravity the exact (not only mean) BH mass is measurable by the external observer. This additional information (missing in the semiclassical treatment) available to the external observer significantly helps to understand how information leaks out during the BH evaporation.
The purpose of this paper is to analyse, in the light of information theory and with the arsenal of (elementary) quantum mechanics (EPR correlations, copying machines, teleportation, mixing produced in sub-systems owing to a trace operation, etc.) the scenarios available on the market to resolve the so-called black-hole information paradox. We shall conclude that the only plausible ones are those where either the unitary evolution of quantum mechanics is given up, in which information leaks continuously in the course of black-hole evaporation through non-local processes, or those in which the …
We study two-dimensional dilaton gravity coupled to massless scalar fields for static solutions. In addition to the well known black hole, we find another class of solutions that may be understood as that of the black hole in equilibrium with a radiation bath. We claim that there is a solution that is qualitatively unchanged after including Hawking radiation and back-reaction and is furthermore geodesically complete. We compute the thermodynamics of these spacetimes and their mass. We end with a brief discussion of the linear response about these solutions, its significance to stability and no…
Relativistic Bose-Einstein condensates (rBECs) have recently become a well-established system for analogue gravity. Indeed, while such relativistic systems cannot be yet realized experimentally, they provide an interesting framework for mimicking metrics for which no analogue is yet available, so paving the way for further theoretical and numerical explorations. In this vein, we here discuss black holes in rBECs and explore how their features relate to the bulk properties of the system. We then propose the coupling of external fields to the rBEC as a way to mimic non-metric features. In partic…
In this paper, we study the motion of photons around a Kehagias-Sfetsos (KS) black hole and obtain constraints on IR modified Ho$\check{r}$ava gravity without cosmological constant ($\sim Λ_{W}$). An analytic formula for the light deflection angle is obtained. For a propagating photon, the deflection angle $δϕ$ increases with large values of the Ho$\check{r}$ava gravity parameter $ω$. Under the UV limit $ω\longrightarrow \infty$, deflection angle reduces to the result of usual Schwarzschild case, $4GM/R$. It is also found that with increasing scale of astronomical observation system the Ho$\ch…
Blue primordial power spectra with a spectral index $n>1$ can lead to a significant production of primordial black holes in the very early Universe. The evaporation of these objects leads to a number of observational consequences and a model independent upper limit of $n \approx 1.4$. In some cases this limit is strengthened to $n=1.3$. Such limits may be employed to define the boundary to the region of parameter space consistent with generalized inflationary predictions. Quantum nature of black hole horizons has been a subject of recent interest and scrutiny. In particular, a near-horizon quantum violation of the equivalence principle has been proposed as a resolution of the black hole information paradox. Such a violation may lead to a modified dispersion relation at high energies, which could become relevant due to the intense gravitational blueshift experienced by ingoing gravitational waves. We investigate the ringdown for a perturbed black hole with such a modified dispersion relation and find that infalling gravitational waves are partially reflected nea…
This paper considers the effect of Hawking radiation on an eternal black hole - that is. a maximally extended Schwarzschild solution. Symmetry considerations that hold independent of the details of the emission mechanism show there is an inconsistency in the claim that such a blackhole evaporates away in a finite time. In essence: because the external domain is static, there is an infinite time available for the process to take place, so whenever the evaporation process is claimed to come to completion, it should have happened earlier. The problem is identified to lie in the claim that the loc…
Quantum mechanics for matter fields moving in an evaporating black hole spacetime is formulated in fully four-dimensional form according to the principles of generalized quantum theory. The resulting quantum theory cannot be expressed in a 3+1 form in terms of a state evolving unitarily or by reduction through a foliating family of spacelike surfaces. That is because evaporating black hole geometries cannot be foliated by a non-singular family of spacelike surfaces. A four-dimensional notion of information is reviewed. Although complete information may not be available on every spacelike surfa…
We present an updated review of Lorentz invariance tests in Effective field theories (EFT) in the matter as well as in the gravity sector. After a general discussion of the role of Lorentz invariance and a derivation of its transformations along the so called von Ignatovski theorem, we present the dynamical frameworks developed within local EFT and the available constraints on the parameters governing the Lorentz breaking effects. In the end, we discuss two specific examples, the OPERA "affaire" and the case of Hořava-Lifshitz gravity. The first case will serve as an example, and a caveat, of …
