We consider a class of unified models based on the gauge group $\mathsf{SO(10)}$ which with appropriate choice of Higgs representations generate in a natural way a pair of light Higgs doublets needed to accomplish electroweak symmetry breaking. In this class of models higher dimensional operators of the form matter-matter-Higgs-Higgs in the superpotential after spontaneous breaking of the GUT symmetry generate contributions to Yukawa couplings which are comparable to the ones from cubic interactions. Specifically we consider an $\mathsf{SO(10)}$ model with a sector consisting of $\mathsf{126+\overline{126} + 210}$ of heavy Higgs which breaks the GUT symmetry down to the standard model gauge group and a sector consisting of $2\times \mathsf{10+120}$ of light Higgs fields. In this model we compute the corrections from the quartic interactions to the Yukawa couplings for the top and the bottom quarks and for the tau lepton. It is then shown that inclusion of these corrections to the GUT scale Yukawas allows for consistency of the top, bottom and tau masses with experiment for low $\tanβ$ with a value as low as $\tanβ$ of 5$-$10. We compute the sparticle spectrum for a set of benchmarks and find that satisfaction of the relic density is achieved via a compressed spectrum and coannihilation and three sets of coannihilations appear: chargino-neutralino, stop-neutralino and stau-neutralino. We investigate the chargino-neutralino coannihilation in detail for the possibility of observation of the light chargino at the high luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) and at the high energy LHC (HE-LHC) which is a possible future 27 TeV hadron collider. It is shown that all benchmark models but one can be discovered at HL-LHC and all would be discoverable at HE-LHC. The ones discoverable at both machines require a much shorter time scale and a lower integrated luminosity at HE-LHC.
After a short overview of the hypothesis of Yukawa unification within SUSY GUTs, I detail on the general conditions for its phenomenological viability, emphasizing the decisive role played by observables in the flavor sector.
We investigate the Yukawa coupling unification for the third generation in a class of $\mathsf{SO(10)}$ unified models which are consistent with the 4.2 $σ$ deviation from the standard model of the muon $g-2$ seen by the Fermilab experiment E989. A recent analysis in supergravity grand unified models shows that such an effect can arise from supersymmetric loops correction. Using a neural network, we further analyze regions of the parameter space where Yukawa coupling unification consistent with the Fermilab result can appear. In the analysis we take into account the contributions to Yukawas fr…
We show that a large CP asymmetry in hyperon decays can be naturally realized in the framework of SUSY models. The possibility is implemented by the hermiticities of Yukawa and A matrices. And also, the observed values of $ε$ and $ε'$ are explained.
We study the influence of messenger Yukawa couplings and top, bottom and $τ$ Yukawa couplings on the proton lifetime in SU(5) Supersymmetric GUT with dynamical supersymmetry breaking mechanism due to Dine and Nelson.
Among the firm predictions of softly broken supersymmetry is the identity of gauge couplings and the corresponding Yukawa couplings between gauginos, sfermions and fermions. In the event that a SUSY-like spectrum of new particles is discovered at future colliders, a key follow-up will be to test these relations experimentally. In detailed studies it has been found that the SUSY-Yukawa couplings of the electroweak sector can be studied with great precision at the ILC, but a similar analysis for the Yukawa coupling of the SUSY-QCD sector is far more challenging. Here a first phenomenological stu…
We study effects of SUSY particle decouplings on a quasi fixed point (QFP) of Yukawa coupling. From renormalization group analysis it is shown that if the SUSY breaking scale $M_S$ is large ($\simg 1$TeV), effects of decoupling of Higgsinos and squarks raise the top Yukawa QFP. This tendency is enhanced in most cases of non-universal SUSY breaking. For the case of $M_S\siml 1$TeV, the decoupling of gluinos lowers $m_t^{\rm QFP}$. We checked some parameter dependencies for the top Yukawa QFP. The bottom-top Yukawa unified case is also studied. When top quark mass is measured more precisely, som…
In this talk we assume SO(10) boundary conditions at the GUT scale, including unification for the third generation Yukawa couplings $λ_t = λ_b = λ_τ$. We find that this assumption is only consistent with the low energy data in a narrow region of soft SUSY breaking parameter space. We discuss the consequences of this result for Higgs and SUSY searches.
The scaling behavior and fixed points in the evolution of fermion Yukawa couplings and mixing angles are discussed. The relevance of fixed points in determining the top quark mass is described.
In order to establish supersymmetry (SUSY) at future colliders, the identity of gauge couplings and the corresponding Yukawa couplings between gauginos, sfermions and fermions needs to be verified. Here a first phenomenological study for determining the Yukawa coupling of the SUSY-QCD sector is presented, using a method which combines information from LHC and ILC.
We consider the production, at future lepton colliders, of final fermion, sfermion, scalar pairs in SUSY models. For third family fermions and sfermions and for charged Higgses, the leading Yukawa effect at one loop for large c.m. energies comes from a linear logarithm of Sudakov type, that only depends, in the MSSM, on one SUSY mass scale and on tan(beta). Assuming a relatively light SUSY scenario, we illustrate a possible determination of tan(beta) at c.m. energies of about 1 TeV, working systematically at subleading logarithmic accuracy, at the one-loop level.
We use $t, b, τ$ Yukawa unification to constrain SUSY parameter space. We find a narrow region survives for $μ> 0$ (suggested by \bsgam and the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon) with $A_0 \sim - 1.9 m_{16}$, $m_{10} \sim 1.4 m_{16}$, $m_{16} \sim 1200 -3000$ \gev and $μ, M_{1/2} \sim 100 - 500$ \gev. Demanding Yukawa unification thus makes definite predictions for Higgs and sparticle masses.
Supersymmetry predicts the identity of Yukawa and gauge couplings in the QCD sector: quark-squark-gluino = squark-squark-gluon = quark-quark-gluon. We examine whether the quark-squark-gluino Yukawa coupling can be determined, by methods complementary to LHC, by analyzing squark-gluino final states at a TeV e+e- collider.
We present simple analytical formulae which describe solutions of the RG equations for Yukawa couplings in SUSY gauge theories with the accuracy of a few per cent. Performing the Grassmannian expansion in these solutions one finds those for all the soft couplings and masses. The solutions clearly exhibit the fixed point behaviour which can be calculated analytically. A comparison with numerical solutions is demonstrated.
In this paper we analyze Yukawa unification in a three family SO(10) SUSY GUT. We perform a global $χ^2$ analysis and show that SUSY effects do not decouple even though the universal scalar mass parameter at the GUT scale, $m_{16}$, is found to lie between 15 and 30 TeV with the best fit given for $m_{16} \approx 25$ TeV. Note, SUSY effects don't decouple since stops and bottoms have mass of order 5 TeV, due to RG running from $M_{GUT}$. The model has many testable predictions. Gauginos are the lightest sparticles and the light Higgs boson is very much Standard Model-like. The model is consist…
We analyze the scalar lepton mass matrices in a supersymmetric SO(10) grand unified model with soft SUSY breaking terms generated at Planck scale and a Georgi-Jarslkog Yukawa texture at GUT scale induced by higher dimensional operators. This model predicts lepton flavor violation. The predictive features of the Georgi-Jarlskog texture are used to estimate branching ratios for the radiative decays $e_{a} \rightarrow e_{b}+γ,$ and we find rates that could provide an experimental test for this kind of model.
We have calculated the leading Yukawa corrections to the chargino, neutralino and gluino pole masses in the DR-bar scheme in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) with the full set of complex parameters. We have performed a numerical analysis for a particular point in the parameter space and found typical corrections of a few tenths of a percent thus exceeding the experimental resolution as expected at the ILC. We provide a computer program which calculates two-loop pole masses for SUSY fermions with complex parameters up to the respective order in pertubation theory.
The effective bottom Yukawa couplings are analyzed for the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model at two-loop accuracy within SUSY-QCD. They include the resummation of the dominant corrections for large values of tg(beta). In particular the two-loop SUSY-QCD corrections to the leading SUSY-QCD and top-induced SUSY-electroweak contributions are addressed. The residual theoretical uncertainties range at the per-cent level.
We study supersymmetric unified models with three fermion generations based on the gauge group $SO(10)$ and require Gauge-Yukawa Unification, i.e., a renormalization group invariant functional relationship among the gauge and Yukawa couplings of the third generation in the symmetric phase. In the case of the minimal model, we find that the predicted values for the top and bottom quark masses are in agreement with the present experimental data for a wide range of supersymmetry breaking scales. We also find that an experimental accuracy of less than $1 \%$ for the top quark mass could test the c…
In a supersymmetric model where R-Parity and lepton number are violated bilinearly in the superpotential, which can explain the solar and atmospheric neutrino problems, we study the unification of gauge and Yukawa couplings at the GUT scale. We show that bottom-tau Yukawa coupling unification can be achieved at any value of $\tanβ$, and that the strong coupling constant prediction from unification of gauge couplings is closer to the experimental value compared with the MSSM. We also study the predictions for $V_{cb}$ in a Yukawa texture ansätze.
Flavor changing neutral current and lepton flavor violating processes are studied in the SU(5) SUSY-GUT with right-handed neutrino supermultiplets. Using input parameters motivated by neutrino oscillation, it is shown that the time-dependent CP asymmetry of $b \to s γ$ can be as large as 20%. We also show that the $B_s$-$\bar{B}_s$ mixing can be significantly different from the standard model prediction.
We present a composite model that is based on non-perturbative effects of N=1 supersymmetric SU(N_C) gauge theory with N_f=N_C+1 flavors. In this model, we consider N_C=7, where all matter fields in the supersymmetric standard model, that is, quarks, leptons and Higgs particles are bound states of preons and anti-preons. When SU(7)_H hyper-color coupling becomes strong, Yukawa couplings of quarks and leptons are generated dynamically. We show one generation model at first, and next we show models of three generations.
In this talk, we discuss the SUSY-Yukawa sum rule, a relation among masses and mixing angles of the third-generation squarks which follows directly from the coupling relation responsible for canceling the quadratic divergence in the Higgs mass. Radiative corrections modify the sum rule, introducing dependence on a variety of SUSY parameters beyond the third-generation squark sector. If some of those parameters are measured experimentally, a sharp prediction for the sum rule is possible. We demonstrate this point with a quantitative study. We also discuss the prospects for measuring the ingredi…
The cosmological relic density of the lightest supersymmetric particle of the minimal supersymmetric standard model is calculated under the assumption of gauge and Yukawa coupling unification. We employ radiative electroweak breaking with universal boundary conditions from gravity-mediated supersymmetry breaking. Further constraints are imposed by the experimental bounds on the b-quark mass and the BR(b -> s gamma). We find that coannihilation of the lightest supersymmetric particle, which turns out to be an almost pure bino, with the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle (the lightest stau…
It is shown that top-bottom-tau Yukawa unification for μ<0 can be consistent with (g-2)_μand b->s γ. This happens for non-universal gaugino masses which are assumed to be generated by the F-term vev in a 54-dimensional representation of SO(10). The requirement of (g-2)_μand b->s γbeing within 2σfrom the experimental central values, together with the correct relic abundance of neutralinos, leads to rather definite predictions for sparticle spectrum. In particular, the gluino mass is predicted to be between 500 and 700 GeV or between 900 GeV and 1.6 TeV.
We study $3$rd family Yukawa unification in the context of supersymmetric (SUSY) $\mathrm{SO}(10)$ GUTs and $\mathrm{SO}(10)$-motivated boundary conditions for the SUSY-breaking soft terms. We consider $μ<0$ such that the SUSY loop-threshold effects enable a good fit to all third family masses of the charged Standard Model (SM) fermions. We find that fitting the third family masses together with the mass of the SM-like Higgs particle, the scenario predicts the masses of the superpartner particles and of the extra Higgs states of the MSSM: while the sparticles are predicted to be comparatively …
We discuss proton decay induced by dimension--5 operators in supersymmetric models containing extra hypercharge-1/3 color-triplets. We derive a general formula relating dimension-5 operator to the color-triplet mass matrix. We show that certain zeros in the triplet mass-matrix together with some triplet coupling selection rules can lead to elimination of dimension-5 operators. We apply this mechanism to SU(5) and flipped SU(5) theories with extended Higgs sectors.
Axion/axino dark matter (DM) is explored in the minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) and Yukawa-unified supersymmetric grand-unified theory (SUSY GUT) models with surprising results. For this type of scenario, relic DM abundance has three components: {\it i}.) cold axions, {\it ii.}) warm axinos from neutralino decay, and {\it iii.}) cold or warm thermally produced axinos. Reheat temperatures $T_R$ exceeding $10^6$ GeV are required in order to solve the gravitino/Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) problem while also allowing for baryogensis via non-thermal leptogenesis. In order to attain high enough reh…
Supersymmetric models with t-b-tau Yukawa coupling unification and unified gaugino masses at the GUT scale with mu >0 show a mild preference for light gluino masses \lesssim 500 GeV. This range of gluino mass is now essentially ruled out by LHC searches. We show that a heavier gluino mass ~ 0.5-3 TeV can also be compatible with excellent t-b-tau Yukawa coupling unification in supersymmetric models with non-universal Higgs masses (NUHM2). The gluino in such models is the lightest colored sparticle, while the squark sector displays an inverted mass hierarchy with m_{\tilde q} ~ 5-20 TeV. We pres…
We study Yukawa unification in string models with moduli-dominant SUSY breaking. This type of SUSY breaking in general leads to non-universal soft masses, i.e., soft scalar masses and gaugino masses. Such non-universality is important for phenomenological aspects of Yukawa unification, i.e., successful electroweak breaking, SUSY corrections to the bottom mass and the branching ratio of $b \to s γ$. We show three regions in the whole parameter space which lead to successful electroweak breaking and allow small SUSY corrections to the bottom mass. For these three regions we investigate the $b \t…
We address the viability of exact Yukawa unification in the context of general SUSY GUTs with universal soft-breaking sfermion and gaugino mass terms at the GUT scale. We find that this possibility is challenged, unless the squark spectrum is pushed well above the limits allowed by naturalness. This conclusion is assessed through a global fit using electroweak observables and quark flavour-changing neutral current (FCNC) processes. The problem is mostly the impossibility of accommodating simultaneously the bottom mass and the BR(B --> Xs gamma), after the stringent CDF upper bound on the decay…
The requirement of Yukawa coupling unification highly constrains the SUSY parameter space. In several SUSY breaking scenarios it is hard to reconcile Yukawa coupling unification with experimental constraints from B(b->s gamma) and the muon anomalous magnetic moment a_mu. We show that b-tau or even t-b-tau Yukawa unification can be satisfied simultaneously with b->s gamma and a_mu in the non-universal gaugino mediation scenario. Non-universal gaugino masses naturally appear in higher dimensional grand unified models in which gauge symmetry is broken by orbifold compactification. Relations betwe…
We explore general SUSY GUT models with exact third-generation Yukawa unification, but where the requirement of universal soft terms at the GUT scale is relaxed. We consider the scenario in which the breaking of universality inherits from the Yukawa couplings, i.e. is of minimal flavor violating (MFV) type. In particular, the MFV principle allows for a splitting between the up-type and the down-type soft trilinear couplings. We explore the viability of this trilinear splitting scenario by means of a fitting procedure to electroweak observables, quark masses as well as flavor-changing neutral c…
In the strong Yukawa coupling limit the renormalization of trilinear couplings $A_i(t)$ and combinations of the scalar particle masses $\mathfrak{M}_i^2(t)$ are studied in the framework of the Next--to--Minimal SUSY Model. The dependence of given parameters on their initial values at the Grand Unification scale disappears when the solutions of the renormalization group equations approach the infrared quasi fixed points. Besides that at $\tildeα_{\text{GUT}}\ll Y_i(0)\ll 1$ in the vicinity of quasi fixed points $A_i(t)$ and $\mathfrak{M}_i^2(t)$ concentrated near lines or surfaces in the soft S…
We consider a scenario in which Supersymmetry breaking is communicated to the MSSM fields through the interplay of yukawa and gauge interactions. The MSSM spectrum resembles that of split SUSY scenarios, but on top of that it develops some peculiar features like heavy higgsinos and an inverted hierarchy of sfermion masses. The predictions obtained are consistent with the most recent LHC SUSY and Higgs boson searches.
The status of top-bottom-tau Yukawa coupling unification in supersymmetric SO(10) models is reviewed with a particular emphasis on the implications of the Higgs boson mass in the vicinity of 125 GeV, as suggested by the LHC Higgs data. In addition, the recently proposed model with negative μ, D-term splitting of the soft scalar masses and non-universal gaugino masses generated by a non-zero F-term in a 24-dimensional representation of SU(5) \subset SO(10) is re-analysed in the context of the 125 GeV Higgs. The condition of top-bottom-tau Yukawa unification together with the Higgs mass of about…
It is well known that the supersymmetric finite threshold effects can induce substantial corrections to the Standard Model fermion masses. This opens an alternative possibility to correct the problematic mass ratios of the lighter generations within the minimal SU(5) GUT. We show that with large soft A--terms, one can achieve simple unification for lighter generations without additional Higgs multiplet, while having sfermions lighter than 1 TeV. The presence of such large A--terms will distort the sfermion mass spectrum upon running from GUT scale down to the electroweak scale making it distin…
The SUSY $SO(10)$ GUT is in severe tension with the experimental bounds on proton partial lifetimes because proton decay mediated by colored Higgsinos (dimension-five proton decay) is too rapid. In this paper, we pursue the possibility that a texture of the Yukawa coupling matrices in a renormalizable SUSY $SO(10)$ GUT model suppresses dimension-five proton decay. We focus on a general renormalizable SUSY $SO(10)$ GUT model which contains ${\bf 10}+{\bf 126}+{\bf \overline{126}}+{\bf 120}$ representation fields and where the Yukawa coupling matrices of the ${\bf 16}$ matter fields with the ${\…
The supersymmetric SO(10) GUT with $t$--$b$--$τ$ Yukawa coupling unification has problems with correct electroweak symmetry breaking, experimental constraints (especially $b\rightarrow sγ$) and neutralino abundance, if the scalar masses are universal at the GUT scale. We point out that non-universality of the scalar masses at the GUT scale generated both by (1) renormalization group running from the Planck scale to the GUT scale and (2) $D$--term contribution induced by the reduction of the rank of the gauge group, has a desirable pattern to make the model phemenologically viable (in fact the …
We examine the prospects for testing SO(10) Yukawa-unified supersymmetric models during the first year of LHC running at \sqrt{s}= 7 TeV, assuming integrated luminosity values of 0.1 to 1 fb^-1. We consider two cases: the Higgs splitting (HS) and the D-term splitting (DR3) models. Each generically predicts light gluinos and heavy squarks, with an inverted scalar mass hierarchy. We hence expect large rates for gluino pair production followed by decays to final states with large b-jet multiplicity. For 0.2 fb^-1 of integrated luminosity, we find a 5 sigma discovery reach of m(gluino) ~ 400 GeV e…
Unification of GUT-scale t-b-τYukawa couplings is a significant feature of simple SO(10) SUSY GUTs. Here we present the results of a search that used the Markov Chain Monte Carlo technique to investigate regions of Yukawa unification and WMAP-compatible dark matter relic density in SO(10)-like MSSM parameter spaces. We mention the possible LHC signatures of Yukawa unified scenarios and discuss the consequences for dark matter.
The considerable part of the parameter space in the MSSM corresponding to the infrared quasi fixed point scenario is excluded by LEP II bounds on the lightest Higgs boson mass. In the NMSSM the mass of the lightest Higgs boson reaches its maximum value in the strong Yukawa coupling limit when Yukawa couplings are essentially larger than gauge ones at the Grand Unification scale. In this case the renormalization group flow of Yukawa couplings and soft SUSY breaking terms is investigated. The quasi-fixed and invariant lines and surfaces are briefly discussed. The coordinates of the quasi-fixed p…
We propose semi-direct Gauge-Yukawa mediation of supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking. The messenger fields mediating SUSY breaking to the visible sector do not directly couple with the goldstino field, and instead they have gauge and Yukawa interactions with some primary messenger fields which couple directly with the goldstino fields. From the explicit Feynman diagram calculations for the SUSY breaking soft masses, we find that the SUSY particle spectra can be realistic. Especially, this generalization of semi-direct gauge mediation solves the massless gaugino mass problem since the holomorphic sof…
The requirement of t-b-τYukawa coupling unification is common in simple grand unified models based on the gauge group SO(10), and it also places a severe constraint on the expected spectrum of superpartners. For Yukawa-unified models with μ>0, the spectrum is characterized by three mass scales: {\it i}). first and second generation scalars in the multi-TeV range, {\it ii}). third generation scalars, μand m_A in the few-TeV range and {\it iii}). gluinos in the \sim 350-500 GeV range with chargino masses around 100-160 GeV. In such a scenario, gluino pair production should occur at large rates a…
We present the two-loop SUSY-QCD corrections to the effective bottom Yukawa couplings within the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model. The effective Yukawa couplings include the resummation of the non-decoupling corrections Delta m_b for large values of tg(beta). We have derived the two-loop SUSY-QCD corrections to the leading SUSY-QCD and top-induced SUSY-electroweak contributions to Delta m_b. The scale dependence of the resummed Yukawa couplings is reduced from O(10%) to the per-cent level. These results reduce the theoretical uncertainties of the MSSM Higgs branching rati…
We explore, in a concrete example, to which extent new particle mass determinations are practicable with LHC data. Our chosen example is that of Yukawa-unified SUSY GUTs, whose viability has been recently studied for two general patterns of soft SUSY-breaking terms. We note that both patterns of SUSY spectra do not admit long decay chains, which would make it possible to determine the masses of the SUSY particles involved using endpoints or mass relations. We thus take the so-called mT2-kink method as our key strategy, since it does not rely on the presence of long decay chains. We then discus…
We consider tree-level corrections to hypercharge changing semileptonic decays of certain baryons induced by a minimal supersymmetric standard model with explicitly broken R-parity via $L$-violation. This study leads to a new set of constraints on the products of couplings arising from the LQd$^c$ operator of the superpotential.
Simple supersymmetric grand unified models based on the gauge group SO(10) require --in addition to gauge and matter unification-- the unification of t-b-τYukawa couplings. Yukawa unification, however, only occurs for very special values of the soft SUSY breaking parameters. We perform a search using a Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) technique to investigate model parameters and sparticle mass spectra which occur in Yukawa-unified SUSY models, where we also require the relic density of neutralino dark matter to saturate the WMAP-measured abundance. We find the spectrum is characterizd by three…
Simple SUSY GUT models based on the gauge group SO(10) require t-b-τYukawa coupling unification, in addition to gauge coupling and matter unification. The Yukawa coupling unification places strong constraints on the expected superparticle mass spectrum, with scalar masses \sim 10 TeV while gluino masses are much lighter: in the 300--500 GeV range. The very heavy squarks suppress negative interference in the q\bar{q}\to\tg\tg cross section, leading to a large enhancement in production rates. The gluinos decay almost always via three-body modes into a pair of b-quarks, so we expect at least four…
In simple SO(10) SUSY GUTs the top, bottom and tau Yukawa couplings unify at the GUT scale. A naive renormalization group analysis, neglecting weak scale threshold corrections, leads to moderate agreement with the low energy data. However it is known that intrinsically large threshold corrections proportional to $\tanβ\sim m_t(M_Z)/m_b(M_Z) \sim 50$ can nullify these $t, b$, $τ$ mass predictions. In this paper we turn the argument around. Instead of predicting fermion masses, we use the constraint of Yukawa unification and the observed values $M_t, m_b(m_b), M_τ$ to constrain SUSY parameter sp…
We propose new predictions from Grand Unified Theories (GUTs) (applicable to both supersymmetric (SUSY) and non-SUSY models) for the ratios of quark and lepton Yukawa couplings. These new predictions arise from splitting the masses of the messenger fields for the GUT scale Yukawa operators by Clebsch-Gordan factors from GUT symmetry breaking. This has the effect that these factors enter inversely in the predicted quark-lepton Yukawa coupling ratios, leading to new possible GUT predictions. We systematically construct the new predictions that can be realised in this way in SU(5) GUTs and Pati-S…
That $μ\to e, γ$ and $τ\to μ,γ$ are sensitive probes of SUSY models with a see-saw mechanism is a well accepted fact. Here we propose a `top-down' approach in a general SUSY SO(10) scheme. In this framework, we show that at least one of the neutrino Yukawa couplings is as large as the top Yukawa coupling. This leads to a strong enhancement of these leptonic flavour changing decay rates. We examine two `extreme' cases, where the lepton mixing angles in the neutrino Yukawa couplings are either small (CKM-like) or large (PMNS-like). In these two cases, we quantify the sensitivity of leptonic radi…
It is shown that the complex phase of $B^0$--$\bar {B^0}$ mixing matrix element is same as that of the standard model one up to the minor correction of the order of $(m_c/m_t)^2$ or less in the SUSY standard model. This conclusion is valid as far as the Yukawa coupling constants are perturbative and realistic, and can be available for other realistic models where generation mixing and CP violation are solely due to Yukawa interaction among quarks and Higgs doublets.
We study flavour violation in the minimal SUSY SU(5) GUT assuming all the third generation Yukawa couplings to be due to the renormalizable physics above GUT scale. At large $\tanβ,$ as suggested by Yukawa unification in SU(5), sizable flavour violation in the left (right) slepton (down squark) sector is induced due to renormalization effects of down type Yukawa couplings between GUT and Planck scales in addition to the flavour violation in the right slepton sector. The new flavour physics contribution to $K-\bar K,$ $B-\bar B$ mixing is small but might be of phenomenological interest in the c…
Grand Unified Theories (GUTs) can feature predictions for the ratios of quark and lepton Yukawa couplings at high energy, which can be tested with the increasingly precise results for the fermion masses, given at low energies. To perform such tests, the renormalization group (RG) running has to be performed with sufficient accuracy. In supersymmetric (SUSY) theories, the one-loop threshold corrections (TC) are of particular importance and, since they affect the quark-lepton mass relations, link a given GUT flavour model to the sparticle spectrum. To accurately study such predictions, we extend…
We discuss possible realizations of the hypothesis that all the fundamental interactions of the elementary particles should be of gauge type, including the Yukawa and Higgs ones. In the minimal SUSY extension of the standard model, where the quartic Higgs couplings are ``gauged'' through the D-terms, it is also possible to generate radiatively the Yukawa matrices for the light generations, thus expressing them as functions of gauge couplings. The program can also be applied to the SUSY LR model, where the possibility to induce radiatively the mixing angles, can help to make viable the parity s…
Supersymmetric $SO(10)$ models with Yukawa coupling matrices involving only a $10_H$ and a $\overline{126}_H$ of Higgs fields can lead to a predictive and consistent scenario for fermion masses and mixings, including the neutrino sector. However, when coupled minimally to a symmetry breaking sector that includes a $210_H$ and a $126_H$, these models lead either to an unacceptably small neutrino mass scale, or to non-perturbative values of the gauge couplings. Here we show that with the addition of a $54_H$ to the symmetry breaking sector, the successful predictions of these models for fermion …
Previous studies of a three family Yukawa unified supersymmetric grand unified theory (SUSY GUT) with SO(10) or Pati-Salam (PS) gauge symmetry proposed by Raby and students show that this model is able to fit low energy and inflation observables. However, the fit to low energy observables is not great especially for $\sin2β$, and up and down quark masses. In this paper, we show that by choosing PS as the gauge group and modifying the Yukawa sector, the low energy fit improves significantly while other qualities of the model are maintained. In particular, the lightest SUSY particle is the neutr…
We propose the "supersymmetric (SUSY) Yukawa sum rule", a relationship between physical masses and mixing angles of the third-generation quarks and squarks. The sum rule follows directly from a relation between quark and squark couplings to the Higgs, enforced by SUSY. It is exactly this relation that ensures the cancellation of the one-loop quadratic divergence in the Higgs mass from the top sector. Testing the sum rule experimentally would thus provide a powerful consistency check on SUSY as the solution to the gauge hierarchy problem. While such a test will most likely have to await a futur…
Non-renormalizable operators both account for the failure of down quark and charged lepton Yukawa couplings to unify and reduce the proton decay rate via dimension-five operators in minimal SUSY SU(5) GUT. We extend the analysis to SUSY SO(10) GUT models.
