We present a new theoretical analysis of local superlinear convergence of classical quasi-Newton methods from the convex Broyden class. As a result, we obtain a significant improvement in the currently known estimates of the convergence rates for these methods. In particular, we show that the corresponding rate of the Broyden-Fletcher-Goldfarb-Shanno method depends only on the product of the dimensionality of the problem and the logarithm of its condition number.
In this paper we study the Newton's method for finding a singularity of a differentiable vector field defined on a Riemannian manifold. Under the assumption of invertibility of covariant derivative of the vector field at its singularity, we establish the well definition of the method in a suitable neighborhood of this singularity. Moreover, we also show that the generated sequence by Newton method converges for the solution with superlinear rate.

In this paper, a two-phase quasi-Newton scheme is proposed for solving an unconstrained optimization problem. The global convergence property of the scheme is provided under mild assumptions. A damped Newton's method to find a singularity of a vector field in Riemannian setting is presented with global convergence study. It is ensured that the sequence generated by the proposed method reduces to a sequence generated by the Riemannian version of the classical Newton's method after a finite number of iterations, consequently its convergence rate is superlinear/quadratic. Moreover, numerical experiments illustrate that the damped Newton's method has better performance than Newton's method in number of iteration and computational time.

In this paper we present a cubic regularized Newton's method to minimize a smooth function over a Riemannian manifold. The proposed algorithm is shown to reach a second-order $ε$-stationary point within $\mathcal{O}(1/ε^{\frac{3}{2}})$ iterations, under the condition that the pullbacks are locally Lipschitz continuous, a condition that is shown to be satisfied if the manifold is compact. Furthermore, we present a local superlinear convergence result under some additional conditions.

In this article we consider a special class of Nash equilibrium problems that cannot be reduced to a single player control problem. Problems of this type can be solved by a semi-smooth Newton method. Applying results from the established convergence analysis we derive superlinear convergence for the associated Newton method and the equivalent active-set method. We also provide detailed finite element discretizations for both methods. Several numerical examples are presented to support the theoretical findings.
