We study for the first time the case in which Dark Matter (DM) is made of Feebly Interacting Massive Particles (FIMP) interacting just gravitationally with the standard model particles in an extra-dimensional Randall-Sundrum scenario. We assume that both the dark matter and the standard model are localized in the IR-brane and only interact via gravitational mediators, namely the graviton, the Kaluza-Klein gravitons and the radion. We found that in the early Universe DM could be generated via two main processes: the direct freeze-in and the sequential freeze-in. The regions where the observed DM relic abundance is produced are largely compatible with cosmological and collider bounds.
We study the possibility that Dark Matter (DM) is made of Feebly Interacting Massive Particles (FIMP) interacting just gravitationally with the Standard Model particles in the framework of a Clockwork/Linear Dilaton (CW/LD) model. We restrict here to the case in which the DM particles are scalar fields. This paper extends our previous study of FIMP's in Randall-Sundrum (RS) warped extra-dimensions. As it was the case in the RS scenario, also in the CW/LD model we find a significant region of the parameter space in which the observed DM relic abundance can be reproduced with scalar DM mass in t…
Warped compactifications of type IIB string theory contain natural dark matter candidates: Kaluza-Klein modes along approximate isometry directions of long warped throats. These isometries are broken by the full compactification, including moduli stabilization; we present a thorough survey of Kaluza-Klein mode decay rates into light supergravity modes and Standard Model particles. We find that these dark matter candidates typically have lifetimes longer than the age of the universe. Interestingly, some choices for embedding the Standard Model in the compactification lead to decay rates large e…
The Kaluza-Klein (KK) modes of a massive scalar field on a 3-brane embedded in six dimensional multiply warped spacetime are determined. Due to the presence of warping along both the extra dimensions the KK mass spectrum splits into two closely spaced branches which is a distinct feature of this model compared to the five dimensional Randall-Sundrum model. This new cluster of the KK mode spectrum is expected to have interesting phenomenological implications for the upcoming collider experiments. Such a scenario may also be extended for even larger number of orbifolded extra dimensions.
The Kaluza-Klein (KK) modes of graviton are studied in the IIB superstring compactification where the warped geometry is realized at the Klebanov-Strassler (KS) throat. Knowledge of the metric of the KS throat enables us to determine their wave functions with good accuracy, without any further specification of the rest of Calabi-Yau space, owing to the localization of the KK modes. Mass spectrum and couplings to the four dimensional fields are computed for some type of the KK modes, and compared to those of the well-known Randall-Sundrum model. We find that the properties of the KK modes of th…
A generic prediction of scenarios with extra dimensions accessible in TeV-scale collisions is the existence of Kaluza-Klein excitations of the graviton. For a broad class of strongly-warped scenarios one expects to initially find an isolated resonance, whose phenomenology in the simplest cases is described by a simplified model with two parameters, its mass, and a constant $Λ$ with units of mass parameterizing its coupling to the Standard Model stress tensor. These parameters are in turn determined by the geometrical configuration of the warped compactification. We explore the possibility that…
Interaction of bulk gravitons to Standard Model particles is examined in the scenario of warped extra dimension. It is found that the length of the extra dimension is of physical importance as it determines the decay widths of graviton Kaluza-Klein modes. We show that cosmology as well as collider signals of the Kaluza-Klein modes are very different for different choices of the length of the fifth dimension.
We study the implications at the LHC for a recent class of non-custodial warped extra-dimensional models where the AdS_5 metric is modified near the infrared brane. Such models allow for TeV Kaluza-Klein excitations without conflict with electroweak precision tests. We discuss both the production of electroweak and strong Kaluza-Klein gauge bosons. As we will show, only signals involving the third generation of quarks seem to be feasible in order to probe this scenario.
Randall-Sundrum models based on SU(2)_L * SU(2)_R with custodial symmetry are compelling frameworks for building alternative models of electroweak symmetry breaking. A particular feature of these models is the likely presence of light Kaluza-Klein fermions related to the right-handed top quark. These can be as light as a few hundred GeV and still compatible with EW precision constraints. In this article, we study the detectability of four-W final states at the LHC, which arise from the pair-production and tW decay of light Kaluza-Klein bottom quarks as well as light Kaluza-Klein quarks carryin…
We study gravitational waves propagating on a warped Minkowski space-time with D-4 compact extra dimensions. While Kaluza-Klein scales are typically too high for any current detection, we analyse how the warp factor changes the Kaluza-Klein spectrum of gravitational waves. To that end we provide a complete and explicit expression for the warp factor, as well as the Green's function, on a d-dimensional torus. This expression differs from that of braneworld models and should find further uses in string compactifications. We then evaluate the Kaluza-Klein spectrum of gravitational waves. Our prel…
Extra dimensions have interesting consequences for flavor physics. We consider a setup where the standard model fermions and gauge fields reside in the bulk of a warped extra dimension. Fermion masses and mixings are explained by flavor dependent fermion locations, without relying on hierarchical Yukawa couplings. We discuss various flavor violating processes induced by (Kaluza-Klein) gauge boson exchange and non-renormalizable operators. Experimental constraints are satisfied with a Kaluza-Klein scale of about 10 TeV. Some processes, such as muon-electron conversion, are within reach of next …
We point out that the discovery of a light Higgs boson in the γγ, ZZ and WW decay channels at the LHC, with cross sections not far from the predictions of the Standard Model, would have important implications for the parameters of warped extra-dimension models. Due to loop effects of Kaluza-Klein particles, these models predict a significant reduction of the Higgs production cross section via gluon-gluon fusion, combined with an enhancement of the ratio Br(h->γγ)/Br(h->ZZ). LHC measurements of these decays will probe Kaluza-Klein masses up to the 10 TeV range, exceeding by far the reach for di…
In this talk, I present results for the most important Higgs-boson production cross sections at the LHC and the Tevatron as well as the branching fractions of the relevant decay channels in the custodial Randall-Sundrum model. The results are based on a complete one-loop calculation, taking into account all possible Kaluza-Klein particles in the loop. Due to the strong infrared localization of the top quark and the Kaluza-Klein excitations, the SM predictions receive sizable corrections in the model at hand. This could effect Higgs searches significantly.
Within warped extra dimension models that explain flavor through geometry, flavor changing neutral current constraints generally force the Kaluza-Klein scale to be above many TeV. This creates tension with a natural electroweak scale. On the other hand, a much lower scale compatible with precision electroweak and flavor changing neutral current constraints is allowed if we decouple the Kaluza-Klein states of Standard Model gauge bosons from light fermions $c_{\rm light}\simeq c_b\simeq 0.5$ bulk mass parameters). The main signature for this approach is four top quark production via the Kaluza-…
We consider a 5D warped scenario with a KK-parity symmetry, where the non-trivial warping arises from the dynamics that stabilizes the size of the extra dimension. Generically, the lightest Kaluza-Klein (KK) particle is the first excitation of the radion field, while the next-to-lightest Kaluza-Klein particle is either the first excitation of the (RH) top quark or the first KK-parity odd Higgs. All these masses are expected to be of order the electroweak scale. We present simple analytical expressions for the masses and wavefunctions of the lowest lying KK modes, and derive the Feynman rules n…
We study the properties of $g^{1}$, the first excited state of the gluon in representative variants of the Randall Sundrum model with the Standard Model fields in the bulk. We find that measurements of the coupling to light quarks (from the inclusive cross-section for $pp\to g^{1} \to t\bar t$), the coupling to bottom quarks (from the rate of $pp\to g^{1} b$), as well as the overall width, can provide powerful discriminants between the models. In models with large brane kinetic terms, the $g^1$ resonance can even potentially be discovered decaying into dijets against the large QCD background. …
In warped supersymmetric grand unification, XY gauge particles appear near the TeV scale along with Kaluza-Klein towers of the standard model gauge fields. In spite of this exotic low-energy physics, MSSM gauge coupling unification is preserved and proton decay is naturally suppressed. In this paper we study in detail the low-lying mass spectrum of superparticles and GUT particles in this theory, taking supersymmetry breaking to be localized to the TeV brane. The masses of the MSSM particles, Kaluza-Klein modes, and XY states are all determined by two parameters, one which fixes the strength o…
It has been recently argued that realistic models with warped extra dimensions can have Kaluza-Klein particles accessible at the Large Hadron Collider if a custodial symmetry, SU(2)_V \times P_{LR}, is used to protect the T parameter and the coupling of the left-handed bottom quark to the Z gauge boson. In this article we emphasize that such a symmetry implies that the loop corrections to both the T parameter and the Z b_L \bar{b}_L coupling are calculable. In general, these corrections are correlated, can be sizable, and should be considered to determine the allowed parameter space region in …
Scattering amplitudes involving massive spin-2 particles typically grow rapidly with energy. In this paper we demonstrate that the anomalous high-energy growth of the scattering amplitudes cancel for the massive spin-2 Kaluza-Klein modes arising from compactified five-dimensional gravity in a stabilized warped geometry. Generalizing previous work, we show that the two sum rules which enforce the cancellations between the contributions to the scattering amplitudes coming from the exchange of the (massive) radion and those from the exchange of the tower of Goldberger-Wise scalar states (admixtur…
We explore the reach of a 100 TeV proton collider to discover KK gluons in a warped extra dimension. These particles are templates for color adjoint vectors that couple dominantly to the top quark. We examine their production rate at NLO in the six-flavor m-ACOT scheme for a variety of reference models defining their coupling to quarks, largely inspired by the RS model of a warped extra dimension. In agreement with previous calculations aimed at lower energy machines, we find that the NLO corrections are typically negative, resulting in a $K$-factor of around 0.7 (depending on the model) and w…
We readdress the problems associated with bulk Higgs and the gauge fields in a 5-dimensional Randall-Sundrum model by extending the model to six dimensions with double warping along the two extra spatial dimensions. In this 6-dimensional model we have a freedom of two moduli scales as against one modulus in the 5-dimensional model. With a little hierarchy between these moduli we can obtain the right magnitude for $W$ and $Z$ boson masses from the Kaluza-Klein modes of massive bulk gauge fields where the spontaneous symmetry breaking is triggered by bulk Higgs . We also have determined the gaug…
Recent CDF measurement of the Bs-Bs oscillation frequency, at the Tevatron imposes significant constraint on various models for new physics. A warped extra-dimension model with custodial isospin symmetry accommodates the Bd-Bd mixing at tree level mainly through the Kaluza-Klein gluons. This is due to the misalignment between the bulk gauge eigenstates and the localized Yukawa eigenstates of the bulk fermions. We adopt the universal 5D Yukawa coupling model where all Yukawa couplings are of order one. The SM fermion mass spectra and mixings are controlled by the bulk Dirac mass parameters. Wit…
We study a possibility of observation of the first Kaluza-Klein (KK) excitation of gluon in a warped extra dimension model at the LHC. In our analysis, we adopt the KK gluon mass and the b-quark coupling to the KK gluon as model parameters and study the sensitivity of the ATLAS experiment to observe the KK gluon through the two $b$-jets channel.
We investigate the detailed phenomenology of a light Abelian hidden sector in the Randall-Sundrum framework. Relative to other works with light hidden sectors, the main new feature is a tower of hidden Kaluza-Klein vectors that kinetically mix with the Standard Model photon and Z. We investigate the decay properties of the hidden sector fields in some detail, and develop an approach for calculating processes initiated on the ultraviolet brane of a warped space with large injection momentum relative to the infrared scale. Using these results, we determine the detailed bounds on the light warped…
We review Electroweak breaking in warped Extra Dimensions and show how it is constrained by Electroweak precision tests. We then proceed to describe a model which is based on a bulk Higgs field and a metric that is deformed from the usual five dimensional Anti de Sitter space near the Infrared (IR) boundary. It allows to softly decouple the Higgs field from the Kaluza Klein excitations near the IR and thus reduces their contribution to the precision observables.
We propose an interpretation of the diboson excess recently observed by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations in terms of Kaluza-Klein excitations of electroweak gauge bosons stemming from a realization of a warped extra-dimensional model that is protected by a custodial symmetry. Besides accounting for the LHC diboson data, this scenario also leads to an explanation of the anomalies that have been observed in the measurements of the forward-backward asymmetries for bottom quarks at LEP and top quarks at the Tevatron.
The recent PAMELA and ATIC/Fermi/HESS experiments have observed an excess of electrons and positrons, but not anti-protons, in the high energy cosmic rays. To explain this result, we construct a decaying hidden dark matter model in string theory compactification that incorporates the following two ingredients, the hidden dark matter scenario in warped compactification and the phenomenological proposal of hidden light particles that decay to the Standard Model. In this model, on higher dimensional warped branes, various warped Kaluza-Klein particles and the zero-mode of gauge field play roles o…
The CDF and D0 experiments have reported on the measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry of top quark pair production at the Tevatron and the result is that it is more than 2 standard deviations above the predicted value in the Standard Model. This has to be added to the longstanding anomaly in the forward-backward asymmetry for bottom quark production at LEP which is 3 standard deviations different from the Standard Model value. The discrepancy in the bottom asymmetry can be accounted for by the contributions of Kaluza-Klein excitations of electroweak gauge bosons at LEP in warped extra …
Models in extra-dimensions have unique features. Many of their surprising properties simply result from the underlying 5D structure. This structure shows up as ``Sum Rules'' involving the whole tower of Kaluza-Kleins. In this paper, we present a holographic shortcut and derive these results without solving the eigenvalue problem: we express 4D physical quantities directly in terms of the 5D metric. In warped space, one can go further and isolate the effect of the new physics sector. This method can be used for any 5D model, and we apply it here to the case of holographic QCD and technicolor.
We realize non-universal couplings between Kaluza-Klein (KK) gravitons and bulk Standard Model (SM) vectors in the Randall-Sundrum (RS) model by including both UV and IR brane-localised gauge kinetic terms. We find that such kinetic terms can reduce the couplings of KK gravitons to SM gauge bosons and also ensure the KK vector masses are consistent with electroweak precision constraints.
With the prospect of improved Higgs measurements at the LHC and at proposed future colliders such as ILC, CLIC and TLEP we study the non-custodial Randall-Sundrum model with bulk SM fields and compare brane and bulk Higgs scenarios. We compute the electroweak precision observables and argue that incalculable contributions to these, in the form of higher dimensional operators, could have a non-negligable impact. This could potentially reduce the bound on the lowest Kaluza-Klein gauge boson masses to the 5 TeV range, making these states detectable at the LHC. In a second part, we compute the mis…
We explore the possibility to discriminate between certain strongly-coupled technicolor (TC) models and warped extra-dimensional models where the Standard Model fields are propagating in the extra dimension. We consider a generic QCD-like TC model with running coupling as well as two TC models with walking dynamics. We argue that due to the different production mechanisms for the lowest-lying composite tensor state in these TC theories compared to the first Kaluza-Klein graviton mode of warped extra-dimensional case, it is possible to distinguish between these models based on the angular analy…
Extra dimension is one of the most attractive candidates beyond the Standard Model. In warped extra dimensional space-time, not only gauge hierarchy problem but also quark-lepton mass hierarchy can be naturally explained. In this setup, a sizable parity violation through Kaluza-Klein gluon exchange appears in QCD process such as helicity dependent top pair production. We investigate this QCD parity violating process by use of $SO(5) \times U(1)$ gauge-Higgs unification model. We evaluate LHC observable quantities, i.e., a charge asymmetry and a forward-backward asymmetry of the top pair produc…
Dirac neutrinos arising from gauged discrete symmetry à la Krauss-Wilczek are implemented in the minimal custodial Randall-Sundrum model. In the case of a normal hierarchy, all lepton masses and mixing pattern can be naturally reproduced at the TeV scale set by the electroweak constraints, while simultanously satisfy bounds from lepton flavour violation. A nonzero neutrino mixing angle, $θ_{13}$, is generic in the scenario, as well as the existence of sub-TeV right-handed Kaluza-Klein neutrinos, which may be searched for at the LHC.
The forward-backward asymmetry of $b$-quark jets on the $Z$-pole measured at LEP/SLD experiments shows us -2.8-$σ$ deviation from the Standard Model (SM) prediction. We examine a possibility of Kaluza-Klein (KK) gluon to explain the $\afbb$ data in a scenario based on the warped extra dimension model by Randall and Sundrum. In this scenario, the KK gluon strongly couples to $b$-quark by an appropriate choice of the bulk quark mass terms. We find that the $\afbb$ data could be explained if the KK gluon mass is few hundred GeV. Constraints on our scenario from the hadron collider experiments are…
We study linearized graviton in the presence of a four-dimensional cosmological constant in two brane models with a warped extra dimension. In explicit models including bulk scalar fields, we calculate the masses of Kaluza-Klein modes of graviton and their interactions with matter on the visible brane. It is shown that the effects of the cosmological constant contribute by the equivalent size to the warp factor, masses and couplings and that bulk scalar fields can increase the effects. This is examined further independently of the forms of scalar potentials. Then it is found how the masses and…
Using two different warped five-dimensional (5D) models with two branes along the extra dimension, we study the Green's functions and the spectral properties of some of the fields propagating in the bulk. While the first model has a discrete spectrum of Kaluza-Klein (KK) modes, the second one has a continuous spectrum above a mass gap. We also study the positivity of the spectral functions, as well as the coupling of the graviton and the radion with SM matter fields.
Applying the equations of motion together with corresponding boundary conditions of bulk profiles at infrared and ultraviolet branes, we verify some lemmas on the eigenvalues of Kaluze-Klein modes in framework of warped extra dimension with the custodial symmetry $SU(3)_c\times SU(2)_L\times SU(2)_R\times U(1)_X\times P_{LR}$. Using the lemmas and performing properly analytic extensions of bulk profiles, we present the sufficient condition for a convergent series of Kaluze-Klein excitations and sum over the series through the residue theorem. The method can also be applied to sum over the infi…
We argue that extensions of the Standard Model (SM) with a warped extra dimension, which successfully address the hierarchy and flavor problems of elementary particle physics, can provide an elegant explanation of the 750 GeV diphoton excess recently reported by ATLAS and CMS. A gauge-singlet bulk scalar with ${\cal O}(1)$ couplings to fermions is identified as the new resonance $S$, and the vector-like Kaluza-Klein excitations of the SM quarks and leptons mediate its loop-induced couplings to photons and gluons. The electroweak gauge symmetry almost unambiguously dictates the bulk matter cont…
With the prospect of improved Higgs measurements at the LHC and at proposed future colliders such as ILC, CLIC and TLEP we study the non-custodial Randall-Sundrum model with bulk SM fields and compare brane and bulk Higgs scenarios. The latter bear resemblance to the well studied type III two-Higgs-doublet models. We compute the electroweak precision observables and argue that incalculable contributions to these, in the form of higher dimensional operators, could have an impact on the T-parameter. This could potentially reduce the bound on the lowest Kaluza-Klein gauge boson masses to the 5 Te…
The negative results in the search for Kaluza-Klein graviton modes at the LHC, when confronted with the discovery of the Higgs, has been construed to have severely limited the efficacy of the Randall-Sundrum model as an explanation of the hierarchy problem. We show, though, that the presence of multiple warping offers a natural resolution of this conundrum through modifications in both the graviton spectrum and their couplings to the Standard Model fields.
Generic extensions of the Standard Model that respect baryon and lepton numbers have accidentally stable particles. Typical examples are the lightest exotic neutral fermion, or "neutralino", and fields with non-trivial lepton and baryon charges. In this paper we show that an accidentally stable neutralino is a natural dark matter candidate in models with warped extra dimensions. We find that annihilation into other Kaluza-Klein resonances is often allowed and very efficient. The observed dark matter abundance may then be obtained with couplings of order unity and a compactification scale above…
In order to investigate the phenomenological implications of allowing gauge fields to propagate in warped spaces of more than five dimensions, we consider a toy model of a space warped by the presence of a anisotropic bulk cosmological constant. After solving the Einstein equation, three classes of solutions are found, those in which the additional ($D>5$) dimensions are growing, shrinking or remaining constant. It is found that gauge fields propagating in these spaces have a significantly different Kaluza Klein (KK) mass spectrum and couplings from that of the Randall and Sundrum model. This …
We implement Dirac neutrinos in the minimal custodial Randall-Sundrum setting via the Krauss-Wilczek mechanism. We demonstrate by giving explicit lepton mass matrices that with neutrinos in the normal hierarchy, lepton mass and mixing patterns can be naturally reproduced at the scale set by the constraints from electroweak precision measurements, and at the same time without violating bounds set by lepton flavour violations. Our scenario generically predicts a nonzero neutrino mixing angle $θ_{13}$, as well as the existence of sub-TeV right-handed Kaluza-Klein neutrinos, which partner the righ…
We study the signature of dilepton and a hard jet ($\ell^+\ell^-j$) via heavy new gauge boson production in split universal extra dimension scenario where the Kaluza-Klein parity is conserved but the Kaluza-Klein number is not. A hard cut to the jet energy effectively removes virtually all possible backgrounds and provides a handle to search of new physics involving new neutral heavy states as the Kaluza-Klein $Z$ boson. The signature can be more generically used in search of other new states such as graviton and radion in warped extra dimension models.
Warped extra-dimension models in which the Higgs boson is allowed to propagate in the bulk of a compact AdS$_5$ space are conjectured to be dual to models featuring a partially composite Higgs boson. They offer a framework with which to investigate the implications of changing the scaling dimension of the Higgs operator, which can be used to reduce the constraints from electroweak precision data. In the context of such models, we calculate the cross section for Higgs production in gluon fusion and the $H\toγγ$ decay rate and show that they are finite (at one-loop order) as a consequence of gau…
This work presents a general formalism to analyze a generic bulk scalar field in a multiple warped extra-dimensional model with arbitrary number of extra dimensions. The Kaluza-Klein mass modes along with the self-interaction couplings are determined and the possibility of having lowest lying KK mode masses near TeV scale are discussed. Also some numerical values for low-lying KK modes has been presented showing explicit localization around TeV scale. It is argued that the appearance of large number of closely spaced KK modes with enhanced coupling may prompt possible new signatures in collide…
A Standard-Model-like Higgs boson should be light in order to comply with electroweak precision measurements from LEP. We consider five-dimensional (5D) warped models -- with a deformation of the metric in the IR region -- as UV completions of the Standard Model with a heavy Higgs boson. Provided the Higgs boson propagates in the 5D bulk the Kaluza Klein (KK) modes of the gauge bosons can compensate for the Higgs boson contribution to oblique parameters while their masses lie within the range of the LHC. The little hierarchy between KK scale and Higgs mass essentially disappears and the natura…
The role of a bulk graviton in predicting the signature of extra dimensions through collider-based experiments is explored in the context of a multiply warped spacetime. In particular it is shown that in a doubly warped braneworld model, the presence of the sixth dimension, results in enhanced concentration of graviton Kaluza Klein (KK) modes compared to that obtained in the usual 5-dimensional Randall-Sundrum model. Also, the couplings of these massive graviton KK modes with the matter fields on the visible brane turn out to be appreciably larger than that in the corresponding 5- dimensional …
Giant resonances of gravity Kaluza-Klein modes (with tensor couplings) in high energy collisions are expected in the Randall-Sundrum orbifold model that incorporates a plausible solution to the hierarchy problem. When the model is extended to incorporate an exponentially small 4-D cosmological constant, the KK spectrum becomes continuous, even in the compactified case. This is due to the presence of a particle horizon, which provides a way to evade Weinberg's argument of the need of fine-tuning to get a very small cosmological constant.
We study the extension of the Standard Model (SM) with a light dilaton in a five dimensional warped model. In particular, we analyze the coupling of the dilaton with the SM matter fields, compare the model predictions with Electroweak Precisions Tests and find the corresponding bounds on the mass of the lightest Kaluza-Klein modes. We also investigate the possibility that the Higgs-like resonance found at the LHC can be a dilaton. Finally, we show that our set-up can also provide an explanation of the anomalies recently observed in $B$-meson decays.
We study the single graviton production at the CERN LHC using the $k_T$-factorization approach of QCD. We consider the Arkani-Hamed-Dimopoulos-Dvali scenario and Randall-Sundrum model with one warped extra-dimension and derive the production amplitudes for spin-$2$ (Kaluza-Klein excitation of the graviton) and spin-$0$ (radion) states, including subsequent graviton decay into the dilepton or diphoton pairs. We use the transverse momentum dependent (unintegrated) parton densities in a proton obtained from Ciafaloni-Catani-Fiorani-Marchesini (CCFM) evolution equation, which resums the leading lo…
The LHC seems to have made a monumental discovery, Higgs-like particle of mass around 125 GeV with properties akin to a Standard Model Higgs. In the context of a warped theory of flavor, which is theoretically very attractive, this suggests Kaluza-Klein particle masses are likely to be above 10 TeV except possibly for a radion. The interpretation of the SM-like Higgs from the perspective of other interesting beyond the SM scenarios is also likely that the relevant scale is higher than accessible to the LHC. In light of these developments, deeper understanding of flavor and other fundamental is…
We investigate and compare additional CP-even, CP-odd and charged scalar states appearing in two popular Beyond the Standard Model scenarios. We focus on the simplest possible Higgs sector within warped extra-dimensions and supersymmetry, with the aim to differentiate between them. In each case, we analyze the couplings of the new Higgs states, looking for distinguishing signatures. We show that the couplings of the Standard Model gauge bosons to the first Kaluza-Klein Higgs states of the extra-dimensional setup (CP-even, CP-odd and charged) are very similar to those of the heavy Higgs states …
Field theory in the presence of extra dimensions has offered interesting solutions to the gauge hierarchy problem, and inspired many attempts to understand the fermion mass generation mechanism. We study the behaviour of a bulk fermion field subject to non-standard boundary conditions under Z2 symmetry in a slice of (5D) AdS. These pseudo-Majorana boundary conditions relate the 5d spinor fields to their 5d charge conjugate and generate Majorana spinors in four-dimensions. There is a zero mode localized on the visible brane and the masses of Kaluza-Klein excitations are naturally of order the w…
The dynamics of Wilson lines integrated along a warped extra dimension has been unknown. We study a five dimensional SU(N) pure gauge theory with Randall-Sundrum warped compactification on S^1/Z_2. We clarify the notion of large gauge transformations that are non-periodic on the covering space for this setup. We obtain Kaluza-Klein expansions of gauge and ghost fields for the most general twists and background gauge field configurations, which break the gauge symmetry at classical level in general. We calculate the one-loop effective potential and find that the symmetry corresponding to the su…
We show that CP asymmetries in $b\to s$ hadronic decays are potentially affected by the presence of massive color-octet particles strongly coupled to the third generation quarks. Theories with warped extra dimensions provide natural candidates in the Kaluza-Klein excitations of gluons in scenarios where flavor-breaking by bulk fermion masses results in the localization of fermion wave-functions. Topcolor models, in which a new gauge interaction leads to top-condensation and a large top mass, also result in the presence of these color-octet states with TeV masses . We find that large effects ar…
