The nonlinear coherent interaction of light with the dispersive and Kerr-type third-order susceptibility medium containing optical impurity atoms or semiconductor quantum dots is considered. Using the generalized perturbation reduction method, the nonlinear wave equation is reduced to the coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations. It is shown that the second-order derivatives play a key role in the description of the process of formation of the bound state of two breathers oscillating with the sum and the difference of frequencies and wave numbers. The resonant, nonresonant and hybrid mechanisms of the formation of the two-component nonlinear pulse -- the vector breather are realized depending on the light and medium parameters. Explicit analytical expressions for the profile and parameters of the nonlinear pulse are presented. The conditions of the excitation of resonant, nonresonant and hybrid nonlinear waves are discussed. In the particular case, the resonant vector breather coincides with the vector $0π$ pulse of self-induced transparency.
On a two-dimensional planar parity-time-($\mathcal{PT}$-)symmetric nonlinear magnetic metamaterial, consisting of split-ring dimers with balanced gain and loss, discrete breather solutions can be found. We extend these studies and by numerical calculations reveal the existence of further stable, long-lived oscillations, with certain frequencies, in the breather spectrum. We describe these oscillations in terms of an analytical breather theory, and show that they can be interpreted as superpositions of a breather oscillation and a plane wave. We coin the term `hybrid breather' solutions for the…
New two-component vector breather solution of the modified Benjamin-Bona-Mahony (MBBM) equation is considered. Using the generalized perturbation reduction method the MBBM equation is reduced to the coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations for auxiliary functions. Explicit analytical expressions for the profile and parameters of the vector breather oscillating with the sum and difference of the frequencies and wavenumbers are presented. The two-component vector breather and single-component scalar breather of the MBBM equation is compared.
The generalized perturbative reduction method is used to find the two-component vector breather solution of the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation. It is shown that the nonlinear pulse oscillates with the sum and difference of frequencies and wave numbers in the region of the carrier wave frequency and wave number. Explicit analytical expressions for the profile and parameters of the nonlinear pulse are obtained. In the particular case, the vector breather coincides with the vector $0π$ pulse of self-induced transparency.
Recently $q$-breathers - time-periodic solutions which localize in the space of normal modes and maximize the energy density for some mode vector $q_0$ - were obtained for finite nonlinear lattices. We scale these solutions together with the size of the system to arbitrarily large lattices. We generalize previously obtained analytical estimates of the localization length of $q$-breathers. The first finding is that the degree of localization depends only on intensive quantities and is size independent. Secondly a critical wave vector $k_m$ is identified, which depends on one effective nonlinear…

We investigate the long-time evolution of weakly perturbed single-site breathers (localized stationary states) in the discrete nonlinear Schroedinger (DNLS) equation. The perturbations we consider correspond to time-periodic solutions of the linearized equations around the breather, and can be either (i) spatially localized, or (ii) spatially extended. For case (i), which corresponds to the excitation of an internal mode of the breather, we find that the nonlinear interaction between the breather and its internal mode always leads to a slow growth of the breather amplitude and frequency. In ca…
The formation and evolution of stationary and moving breather solutions in (2+1)-dimensional O(3) nonlinear $σ$-model are investigated. The analytical form of oscillating solutions for (2+1)-dimensional sine-Gordon equation, which evolve to periodic (breather) radially symmetric solutions is determined. On the basis of the found solutions by adding the rotations to the A3-field vector in isotopic space of S^2, the solutions for the O(3) nonlinear $σ$-model are obtained. By numerical study of the solutions dynamics their stability in a stationary and a moving state for quite a long time (45000 …
We construct rogue wave and breather solutions of a quasi-two-dimensional Gross-Pitaevskii equation with a time-dependent interatomic interaction and external trap. We show that the trapping potential and an arbitrary functional parameter that present in the similarity transformation should satisfy a constraint for the considered equation to be integrable and yield the desired solutions. We consider two different forms of functional parameters and investigate how the density of the rogue wave and breather profiles vary with respect to these functional parameters. We also construct vector local…
$q$-breathers are exact time-periodic solutions of extended nonlinear systems continued from the normal modes of the corresponding linearized system. They are localized in the space of normal modes. The existence of these solutions in a weakly anharmonic atomic chain explained essential features of the Fermi-Pasta-Ulam (FPU) paradox. We study $q$-breathers in one- two- and three-dimensional discrete nonlinear Schödinger (DNLS) lattices -- theoretical playgrounds for light propagation in nonlinear optical waveguide networks, and the dynamics of cold atoms in optical lattices. We prove the exist…
An improved physics-informed neural network (IPINN) algorithm with four output functions and four physics constraints, which possesses neuron-wise locally adaptive activation function and slope recovery term, is appropriately proposed to obtain the data-driven vector localized waves, including vector solitons, breathers and rogue waves (RWs) for the Manakov system with initial and boundary conditions, as well as data-driven parameters discovery for Manakov system with unknown parameters. The data-driven vector RWs which also contain interaction waves of RWs and bright-dark solitons, interactio…

The dynamics of two-component solitons is studied, analytically and numerically, in the framework of a system of coupled extended nonlinear Schrödinger equations, which incorporate the cross-phase modulation, pseudo-stimulated-Raman-scattering (pseudo-SRS), cross-pseudo-SRS, and spatially inhomogeneous second-order dispersion (SOD). The system models co-propagation of electromagnetic waves with orthogonal polarizations in plasmas. It is shown that the soliton's wavenumber downshift, caused by pseudo-SRS, may be compensated by an upshift, induced by the inhomogeneous SOD, to produce stable stat…
We demonstrate numerically the possibility of generation of vector platicons having orthogonally polarized components by the modulated pump at normal GVD. Dynamics of this process can be controlled by pump polarization and depends on both the spectral interval between pumped modes and the difference of their FSRs. We also show the possibility of the excitation of the hybrid soliton-platicon complexes if pumped modes have alternating signs of the GVD coefficient.
We investigate the localized waves of the coupled two-mode nonlinear Schrödinger equations with a pair-tunneling term representing strongly interacting particles can tunnel between the modes as a fragmented pair. Facilitated by Darboux transformation, we have derived exact solution of nonlinear vector waves such as bright solitons, Kuznetsov-Ma soliton, Akhmediev breathers and rogue waves and demonstrated their interesting temporal-spatial structures. The phase diagram that demarcates the parameter ranges of the nonlinear waves is obtained. Our results have implications in such diverse fields …
There exist two natural vector generalizations of the completely integrable nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation in $1+1$ dimensions: the well-known Manakov model and the lesser-known Kulish-Sklyanin model. In this paper, we propose a binary Darboux (or Zakharov-Shabat dressing) transformation that can be directly applied to the Kulish-Sklyanin model. By deriving a simple closed expression for iterations of the binary Darboux transformation, we obtain an explicit formula for the $N$-soliton solution of the Kulish-Sklyanin model under vanishing boundary conditions. Because the third-order symme…

It is shown that the solution of the two-component nonlinear wave oscillates with the sum and difference of frequencies and wave numbers.
