We prove that the Hermite functions are an absolute Schauder basis for many global weighted spaces of ultradifferentiable functions in the matrix weighted setting and we determine also the corresponding coefficient spaces, thus extending previous work by Langenbruch. As a consequence we give very general conditions for these spaces to be nuclear. In particular, we obtain the corresponding results for spaces defined by weight functions.
We use techniques from time-frequency analysis to show that the space $\mathcal S_ω$ of rapidly decreasing $ω$-ultradifferentiable functions is nuclear for every weight function $ω(t)=o(t)$ as $t$ tends to infinity. Moreover, we prove that, for a sequence $(M_p)_p$ satisfying the classical condition $(M1)$ of Komatsu, the space of Beurling type $\mathcal S_{(M_p)}$ when defined with $L^{2}\,$norms is nuclear exactly when condition $(M2)'$ of Komatsu holds.
We study weighted $(PLB)$-spaces of ultradifferentiable functions defined via a weight function (in the sense of Braun, Meise and Taylor) and a weight system. We characterize when such spaces are ultrabornological in terms of the defining weight system. This generalizes Grothendieck's classical result that the space $\mathcal{O}_M$ of slowly increasing smooth functions is ultrabornological to the context of ultradifferentiable functions. Furthermore, we determine the multiplier spaces of Gelfand-Shilov spaces and, by using the above result, characterize when such spaces are ultrabornological. …
In the first part of this paper we discuss the completeness of two general classes of weighted inductive limits of spaces of ultradifferentiable functions. In the second part we study their duals and characterize these spaces in terms of the growth of convolution averages of their elements. This characterization gives a canonical way to define a locally convex topology on these spaces and we give necessary and sufficient conditions for them to be ultrabornological. In particular, our results apply to spaces of convolutors for Gelfand-Shilov spaces.
In this note we consider weighted $(PLB)$-spaces of ultradifferentiable functions defined via a weight function and a weight system, as introduced in our previous work [4]. We provide a complete characterization of when these spaces are ultrabornological and barrelled in terms of the defining weight system, thereby improving the main Theorem 5.1 of [4]. In particular, we obtain that the multiplier space of the Gelfand-Shilov space $Σ^{r}_{s}(\mathbb{R}^{d})$ of Beurling type is ultrabornological, whereas the one of the Gelfand-Shilov space $\mathcal{S}^{r}_{s}(\mathbb{R}^{d})$ of Roumieu type …
Given a non-quasianalytic subadditive weight function $ω$ we consider the weighted Schwartz space $\mathcal{S}_ω$ and the short-time Fourier transform on $\mathcal{S}_ω$, $\mathcal{S}'_ω$ and on the related modulation spaces with exponential weights. In this setting we define the $ω$-wave front set $WF'_ω(u)$ and the Gabor $ω$-wave front set $WF^G_ω(u)$ of $u\in\mathcal{S}'_ω$, and we prove that they coincide. Finally we look at applications of this wave front set for operators of differential and pseudo-differential type.
For the ultradifferentiable weight sequence setting it is known that the Borel map which assigns to each function the infinite jet of derivatives (at 0) is surjective onto the corresponding weighted sequence class if and only if the sequence is strongly nonquasianalytic for both the Roumieu- and Beurling-type classes. Sequences which are nonquasianalytic but not strongly nonquasianalytic admit a controlled loss of regularity and we determine the maximal sequence for which such a mixed setting is possible for both types, hence get information on the controlled loss of surjectivity in this situa…
We study topological transitivity/hypercyclicity and topological (weak) mixing for weighted composition operators on locally convex spaces of scalar-valued functions which are defined by local properties. As main application of our general approach we characterize these dynamical properties for weighted composition operators on spaces of ultradifferentiable functions, both of Beurling and Roumieu type, and on spaces of zero solutions of elliptic partial differential equations. Special attention is given to eigenspaces of the Laplace operator and the Cauchy-Riemann operator, respectively. Moreo…
In the spirit of very recent articles by J. Bonet, W. Lusky and J. Taskinen we are studying the so-called solid hulls and cores of spaces of weighted entire functions when the weights are given in terms of associated weight functions coming from weight sequences. These sequences are required to satisfy certain (standard) growth and regularity properties which are frequently arising and used in the theory of ultradifferentiable and ultraholomorphic function classes (where also the associated weight function plays a prominent role). Thanks to this additional information we are able to see which …
In this paper, we completely characterize nuclear Volterra composition operators $T^ϕ_g : \mathcal H^\infty_ν\longrightarrow \mathcal H^\infty_μ$ and $S^ϕ_g : \mathcal H^\infty_ν\longrightarrow \mathcal H^\infty_μ$ acting between weighted type spaces in terms of the symbols $g$ and $ϕ$ of $T^ϕ_g$ and $S^ϕ_g$ and weights $ν$ and $μ$, when the weights $ν$ and $μ$ are normal weights in the sense of Shields and Williams. Moreover, nuclear Volterra composition operators acting between little weighted type spaces and Bloch spaces of order $β$ are also characterized.
Nuclearity plays an important role for the Schwartz kernel theorem to hold and in transferring the surjectivity of a linear partial differential operator from scalar-valued to vector-valued functions via tensor product theory. In this paper we study weighted spaces $\mathcal{EV}(Ω)$ of smooth functions on an open subset $Ω\subset\mathbb{R}^{d}$ whose topology is given by a family of weights $\mathcal{V}$. We derive sufficient conditions on the weights which make $\mathcal{EV}(Ω)$ a nuclear space.
A plethora of spaces in Functional Analysis (Braun-Meise-Taylor and Carleman ultradifferentiable and ultraholomorphic classes; Orlicz, Besov, Lipschitz, Lebesque spaces, to cite the main ones) are defined by means of a weighted structure, obtained from a weight function or sequence subject to standard conditions entailing desirable properties (algebraic closure, stability under operators, interpolation, etc.) for the corresponding spaces. The aim of this paper is to stress or reveal the true nature of these diverse conditions imposed on weights, appearing in a scattered and disconnected way in…
We study nuclear embeddings for weighted spaces of Besov and Triebel-Lizorkin type where the weight belongs to some Muckenhoupt class and is essentially of polynomial type. Here we can extend our previous results [17,19] where we studied the compactness of corresponding embeddings. The concept of nuclearity goes back to Grothendieck who defined it in [14]. Recently there is a refreshed interest to study such questions [5-8,49]. This led us to the investigation in the weighted setting. We obtain complete characterisations for the nuclearity of the corresponding embedding. Essential tools are a …
The spectrum of the Cesàro operator $\mathsf{C}$ is determined on the spaces which arises as intersections $A^p_{α+}$ (resp. unions $A^p_{α-}$) of Bergman spaces $A_α^p$ of order $1<p<\infty$ induced by standard radial weights $(1-|z|)^α$, for $0<α<\infty$. We treat them as reduced projective limits (resp. inductive limits) of weighted Bergman spaces $A^p_α$, with respect to $α$. Proving that these spaces admit the monomials as a Schauder basis paves the way for using Grothendieck-Pietsch criterion to deduce that we end up with a non-nuclear Fréchet-Schwartz space (resp. a non-nuclear (DFS)-sp…
In this paper we first prove the metric approximation property for weighted mixed-norm $L_w^{(p_1,\dots ,p_n)}$ spaces. Using Gabor frame representation this implies that the same property holds in weighted modulation and Wiener amalgam spaces. As a consequence, Grothendieck's theory becomes applicable, and we give criteria for nuclearity and $r$-nuclearity for operators acting on these space as well as derive the corresponding trace formulae. Finally, we apply the notion of nuclearity to functions of the harmonic oscillator on modulation spaces.
A convolution algebra is a topological vector space $\mathcal{X}$ that is closed under the convolution operation. It is said to be inverse-closed if each element of $\mathcal{X}$ whose spectrum is bounded away from zero has a convolution inverse that is also part of the algebra. The theory of discrete Banach convolution algebras is well established with a complete characterization of the weighted $\ell_1$ algebras that are inverse-closed and referred to as the Gelfand-Raikov-Shilov (GRS) spaces. Our starting point here is the observation that the space $\mathcal{S}(\mathbb{Z}^d)$ of rapidly de…
