The graded Hori map has been recently introduced by Han-Mathai in the context of T-duality as a $\mathbb{Z}$-graded transform whose homogeneous components are the Hori-Fourier transforms in twisted cohomology associated with integral multiples of a basic pair of T-dual closed 3-forms. We show how in the rational homotopy theory approximation of T-duality, such a map is naturally realised as a pull-iso-push transform, where the isomorphism part corresponds to the canonical equivalence between the left and the right gerbes associated with a T-duality configuration.
We show that the infinite symmetric product of a connected graded-commutative algebra over the rationals is naturally isomorphic to the free graded-commutative algebra on the positive degree subspace of the original algebra. In particular, the infinite symmetric product of a connected commutative (in the usual sense) graded algebra over the rationals is a polynomial algebra. Applied to topology, we obtain a quick proof of the Dold-Thom theorem in rational homotopy theory for connected spaces of finite type. We also show that finite symmetric products of certain simple free graded commutative a…
This is a (slightly edited) version of the PhD dissertation of the author, submitted to Brown University in July 2005. We construct a homotopy calculus of functors in the sense of Goodwillie for the categories of rational homotopy theory. More precisely, given a homotopy functor between any of the categories of differential graded vector spaces (DG), reduced differential graded vector spaces, differential graded Lie algebras (DGL), and differential graded coalgebras (DGC), we show that there is an associated approximating "rational Taylor tower" of excisive functors. The fibers in this tower a…
We construct two algebraic versions of homotopy theory of rational disconnected topological spaces, one based on differential graded commutative associative algebras and the other one on complete differential graded Lie algebras. As an application of the developed technology we obtain results on the structure of Maurer-Cartan spaces of complete differential graded Lie algebras.
We consider the rational vector space generated by all rational homology spheres up to orientation-preserving homeomorphism, and the filtration defined on this space by Lagrangian-preserving rational homology handlebody replacements. We identify the graded space associated with this filtration with a graded space of augmented Jacobi diagrams.
We propose a generalization of Sullivan's de Rham homotopy theory to non-simply connected spaces. The formulation is such that the real homotopy type of a manifold should be the closed tensor dg-category of flat bundles on it much the same as the real homotopy type of a simply connected manifold is the de Rham algebra in original Sullivan's theory. We prove the existence of a model category structure on the category of small closed tensor dg-categories and as a most simple case, confirm an equivalence between the homotopy category of spaces whose fundamental groups are finite and whose higher …
This text gives a construction of a differential graded Lie algebra in Nori's category of effective homological motives. In fact the construction works in more a general setting than that of an Abelian category. This allows us to give the rational homotopy Lie algebra of a 1-connected space a motivic structure. As a consequence the rational homotopy Lie algebra inherits a mixed Hodge structure and Galois module structure.
In this paper an algebraic model for unbased rational homotopy theory from the perspective of curved Lie algebras is constructed. As part of this construction a model structure for the category of pseudo-compact curved Lie algebras with curved morphisms will be introduced; one which is Quillen equivalent to a certain model structure of unital commutative differential graded algebras, thus extending the known Quillen equivalence of augmented algebras and differential graded Lie algebras.
In this article, we extend Sullivan's PL de Rham theory to obtain simple algebraic models for the rational homotopy theory of parametrised spectra. This simplifies and complements the results of arXiv:1910.14608, which are based on Quillen's rational homotopy theory. According to Sullivan, the rational homotopy type of a nilpotent space $X$ with finite Betti numbers is completely determined by a commutative differential graded algebra $A$ modelling the cup product on rational cohomology. In this article we extend this correspondence between topology and algebra to parametrised stable homotopy …
Given a fiber bundle, we construct a differential graded Lie algebra model for the classifying space of the monoid of homotopy equivalences of the base covered by a fiberwise isomorphism of the total space.
Given a map $f: X\rightarrow Y$ of simply connected spaces of finite type such. The space of based loops at $f$ of the space of maps between $X$ and $Y$ is denoted by $Ω_{f} Map(X,Y)$. For $n> 0$, we give a model categorical interpretation of the existence (in functorial way) of an injective map of $\mathbb{Q}$-vector spaces $π_{n} Ω_{f}Map(X,Y_{\mathbb{Q}}) \rightarrow HH^{-n}(C^{\ast}(Y),C^{\ast}(X)_{f})$, where $HH^{\ast}$ is the (negative) Hochschild cohomology and $C^{\ast}(X)_{f}$ is the rational cochain complex associated to $X$ equipped with a structure of $C^{\ast}(Y)$-differential gr…
We give minimal presentations for the $RO(C_2)$-graded Bredon cohomology of the equivariant classifying spaces $B_{C_2}U(n), B_{C_2}SO(n)$ and $B_{C_2}Sp(n)$ with coefficients in the rational Burnside Green functor $A_{\mathbf Q}$. This results in an efficient description of rational $C_2$ equivariant Chern, Pontryagin and symplectic characteristic classes. These classes are then related to each other using the inclusions of maximal tori.
The rational homotopy type of a differential graded algebra (DGA) can be represented by a family of tensors on its cohomology, which constitute an $A_\infty$-minimal model of this DGA. When only the cohomology is needed to determine the rational homotopy type, then the DGA is called formal. By a theorem of Miller, a compact $k$-connected manifold is formal if its dimension is not greater than $4k+2$. We expand this theorem and a result of Crowley-Nordström to prove that if the dimension of a compact $k$-connected manifold $N\leq (l+1)k+2$, then its de Rham complex has an $A_\infty$-minimal mod…
In this paper, we set up a rational homotopy theory for operads in simplicial sets whose term of arity one is not necessarily reduced to an operadic unit, extending results obtained by the author in the book "Homotopy of operads and Grothendieck-Teichmüller groups". In short, we prove that the rational homotopy type of such an operad is determined by a cooperad in cochain differential graded algebras (a cochain Hopf dg-cooperad for short) as soon as the Sullivan rational homotopy theory works for the spaces underlying our operad (e.g. when these spaces are connected, nilpotent, and have finite…
Let $X$ and $Y$ be simply connected CW complexes with finite rational cohomologies. The rational toral rank $r_0(X)$ of a space $X$ is the largest integer $r$ such that the torus $T^r$ can act continuously on a CW-complex in the rational homotopy type of $X$ with all its isotropy subgroups finite \cite{H}. As a rational homotopical condition to be a toral map preserving almost free toral actions for a map $f:X\to Y$, we define the rational toral rank $r_0(f)$ of $f$, which is a natural invariant with $r_0(id_X)=r_0(X)$ for the identity map $id_X$ of $X$. We will see some properties of it by Su…
In this short note, we compute the rational $C_{2^n}$-equivariant stable stems and give minimal presentations for the $RO(C_{2^n})$-graded Bredon cohomology of the equivariant classifying spaces $B_{C_{2^n}}S^1$ and $B_{C_{2^n}}Σ_2$ over the rational Burnside functor $A_{\mathbf Q}$. We also examine for which compact Lie groups $L$ the maximal torus inclusion $T\to L$ induces an isomorphism from $H^*_{C_{2^n}}(B_{C_{2^n}}L;A_{\mathbf Q})$ onto the fixed points of $H^*_{C_{2^n}}(B_{C_{2^n}}T;A_{\mathbf Q})$ under the Weyl group action. We prove that this holds for $L=U(m)$ and any $n,m\ge 1$ bu…
Let w: Map(X,Y;f) -> Y denote a general evaluation fibration. Working in the setting of rational homotopy theory via differential graded Lie algebras, we identify the long exact sequence induced on rational homotopy groups by w in terms of (generalized) derivation spaces and adjoint maps. As a consequence, we obtain a unified description of the rational homotopy theory of function spaces, at the level of rational homotopy groups, in terms of derivations of Quillen models and adjoints. In particular, as a natural extension of a result of Tanre, we identify the rationalization of the evaluation …
Let $B{ aut}_1X$ be the Dold-Lashof classifying space of orientable fibrations with fiber $X$. For a rationally weakly trivial map $f:X\to Y$, our strictly induced map $a_f: (Baut_1X)_0\to (Baut_1Y)_0$ induces a natural map from a $X_0$-fibration to a $Y_0$-fibration. It is given by a map between the differential graded Lie algebras of derivations of Sullivan models. We note some conditions that the map $a_f$ admits a section and note some relations with the Halperin conjecture. Furthermore we give the obstruction class for a lifting of a classifying map $h: B\to (Baut_1Y)_0$ and apply it for …
