A strong version of a conjecture of Viterbo asserts that all normalized symplectic capacities agree on convex domains. We review known results showing that certain specific normalized symplectic capacities agree on convex domains. We also review why all normalized symplectic capacities agree on $S^1$-invariant convex domains. We introduce a new class of examples called "monotone toric domains", which are not necessarily convex, and which include all dynamically convex toric domains in four dimensions. We prove that for monotone toric domains in four dimensions, all normalized symplectic capacities agree. For monotone toric domains in arbitrary dimension, we prove that the Gromov width agrees with the first equivariant capacity. We also study a family of examples of non-monotone toric domains and determine when the conclusion of the strong Viterbo conjecture holds for these examples. Along the way we compute the cylindrical capacity of a large class of "weakly convex toric domains" in four dimensions.
We prove a conjecture of Viterbo about the spectral distance on the space of compact exact Lagrangian submanifolds of a cotangent bundle $T^*M$ in the case where $M$ is a compact homogeneous space: if such a Lagrangian submanifold is contained in the unit ball bundle of $T^*M$, its spectral distance to the zero section is uniformly bounded. This also holds for some immersed Lagrangian submanifolds if we take into account the length of the maximal Reeb chord.
In this note, we show that the strong Viterbo conjecture holds true on any convex toric domain, and that the Viterbo's volume-capacity conjecture holds for the product of a $1$-unconditional convex body $A\subset\mathbb{R}^{n}$ and its polar. We also give a direct calculus proof of the symmetric Mahler conjecture for $l_p$-balls.
We study some particular cases of Viterbo's conjecture relating volumes of convex bodies and actions of closed characteristics on their boundaries, focusing on the case of a Hamiltonian of classical mechanical type, splitting into summands depending on the coordinates and the momentum separately. We manage to establish the conjecture for sublevel sets of convex $2$-homogeneous Hamiltonians of this kind in several particular cases. We also discuss open cases of this conjecture.
In this paper, we relate Viterbo's conjecture from symplectic geometry to Minkowski versions of worm problems which are inspired by the well-known Moser worm problem from geometry. For the special case of Lagrangian products this relation provides a connection to systolic Minkowski billiard inequalities and Mahler's conjecture from convex geometry. Moreover, we use the above relation in order to transfer Viterbo's conjecture to a conjecture for the longstanding open Wetzel problem which also can be expressed as a systolic Euclidean billiard inequality and for which we discuss an algorithmic ap…
We identify a new class of closed smooth manifolds for which there exists a uniform bound on the Lagrangian spectral norm of Hamiltonian deformations of the zero section in a unit cotangent disk bundle, settling a well-known conjecture of Viterbo from 2007 as the special case of $T^n.$ This class of manifolds is defined in topological terms involving the Chas-Sullivan algebra and the BV-operator on the homology of the free loop space, contains spheres and is closed under products. We discuss generalizations and various applications.
We prove a conjecture of Viterbo from 2007 on the existence of a uniform bound on the Lagrangian spectral norm of Hamiltonian deformations of the zero section in unit cotangent disk bundles, for bases given by compact rank one symmetric spaces $S^n, \mathbb{R} P^n, \mathbb{C} P^n, \mathbb{H} P^n,$ $n\geq 1.$ We discuss generalizations and give applications, in particular to $C^0$ symplectic topology. Our key methods, which are of independent interest, consist of a reinterpretation of the spectral norm via the asymptotic behavior of a family of cones of filtered morphisms, and a quantitative de…
We use the generalized Minkowski billiard characterization of the EHZ-capacity of Lagrangian products in order to reprove that the $4$-dimensional Viterbo conjecture holds for the Lagrangian products (any triangle/parallelogram in $\mathbb{R}^2$)$\times$(any convex body in $\mathbb{R}^2$) and extend this fact to the Lagrangian products (any trapezoid in $\mathbb{R}^2$)$\times$(any convex body in $\mathbb{R}^2$). Based on this analysis, we classify equality cases of this version of Viterbo's conjecture and prove that most of them can be proven to be symplectomorphic to Euclidean balls. As a by-…
In this work we discuss a conjecture of Viterbo relating the symplectic capacity of a convex body and its volume. The conjecture states that among all 2n-dimensional convex bodies with a given volume the euclidean ball has maximal symplectic capacity. We present a proof of this fact up to a logarithmic factor in the dimension, and many classes of bodies for which this holds up to a universal constant.
We introduce a new normalization condition for symplectic capacities, which we call cube normalization. This condition is satisfied by the Lagrangian capacity and the cube capacity. Our main result is an analogue of the strong Viterbo conjecture for monotone toric domains in all dimensions. Moreover, we give a family of examples where standard normalized capacities coincide but not cube normalized ones. Along the way, we give an explicit formula for the Lagrangian capacity on a large class of toric domains.
We give the sharp lower bound of the volume product of $n$-dimensional convex bodies which are invariant under a discrete subgroup $SO(K)=\{ g \in SO(n); g(K)=K \}$, where $K$ is an $n$-cube or $n$-simplex. This provides new partial results of Mahler's conjecture and its non-symmetric version. In addition, we give partial answers for Viterbo's isoperimetric type conjecture in symplectic geometry from the view point of Mahler's conjecture.
Our first main result states that the spectral norm on the group of Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms, introduced in the works of Viterbo, Schwarz and Oh, is continuous with respect to the C^0 topology, when M is symplectically aspherical. This statement was previously proven only in the case of closed surfaces. As a corollary, using a recent result of Kislev and Shelukhin, we obtain C^0 continuity of barcodes on aspherical symplectic manifolds, and furthermore define barcodes for Hamiltonian homeomorphisms. We also present several applications to Hofer geometry and dynamics of Hamiltonian homeomorp…

We study the dynamics of Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms on convex symplectic manifolds. To this end we first establish the Piunikhin-Salamon-Schwarz isomorphism between the Floer homology and the Morse homology of such a manifold, and then use this isomorphism to construct a biinvariant metric on the group of compactly supported Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms analogous to the metrics constructed by Viterbo and Schwarz. These tools are then applied to prove and reprove results in Hamiltonian dynamics. Our applications comprise a uniform lower estimate for the slow entropy of a compactly supported Ham…
