We study three-body decays of $Λ_c^{*}(2765) \to Λ_c^+π^+π^-$ by using effective Lagrangians in a non-relativistic framework. We consider the sequential decays through $Σ_c(2455)π$ and $Σ_c^*(2520)π$ in intermediate states which are dominant contributions. The coupling constants in the effective Lagrangians are computed in the quark model. We demonstrate that the ratio $R= Γ(Λ_c^*\toΣ_c^*(2520)π)/Γ(Λ_c^*\to Σ_c(2455)π)$ and angular correlations are sensitive to the spin and parity of $Λ_c^{*}(2765)$. Thus, the measurement of these observables in experimental facilities such as Belle and LHCb can provide useful constraints to determine the spin and parity of $Λ_c^{*}(2765)$.
To understand the structure of hadrons and their production mechanisms, it is very important to be able to identify their quantum numbers. For investigating the spin and parity quantum numbers of $Ξ$ and $Ω$ baryons, in particular, it is very important to understand strong interactions in the strangeness sector. At present, such quantum numbers are known for only a few of the $Ξ$ baryons, and even the parity of the ground state $Ξ(1318)$ has never been measured. In this article, we present a novel, model-independent way to determine the parity of $Ξ$ baryons solely based on symmetry considerat…
Based on reflection symmetry in the reaction plane, it is shown that measuring the transverse spin-transfer coefficient $K_{yy}$ in the $\bar{K}N \to KΞ$ reaction directly determines the parity of the produced cascade hyperon in a model-independent way as $π_Ξ=K_{yy}$, where $π_Ξ=\pm 1$ is the parity. This result based on Bohr's theorem provides a completely general, universal relationship that applies to the entire hyperon spectrum. A similar expression is obtained for the photoreaction $γN \to K K Ξ$ by measuring both the double-polarization observable $K_{yy}$ and the photon-beam asymmetry …

We investigate a method for determining the CP nature of a neutral Higgs boson or spin-zero resonance at a future linear e+e- collider (ILC) in its tau decay channel. Our procedure is applicable if the production vertex of the Higgs boson can be measured. This will be the case, for example, for the Higgs-strahlung process. We show that the method is feasible for both the leptonic and the hadronic 1-prong tau decay modes.
The symmetries of the Standard Model dictate that for very low energies, where nucleon dynamics can be described in terms of a pionless effective field theory, the leading-order parity-violating nucleon-nucleon Lagrangian contains five independent unknown low-energy constants (LECs). We find that imposing the approximate symmetry of QCD that appears when the number of colors N(c) becomes large reduces the number of independent LECs to two at leading order in the combined pionless effective field theory and large-N(c) expansions. We also find a relation between the two isoscalar LECs in the lar…
Motivated by the search for flavor-changing neutral current (FCNC) top quark decays at the LHC, we calculate rare Higgs three body decay $H\rightarrow Wbc$ induced by top-Higgs FCNC coupling in the littlest Higgs model with T-parity(LHT). We find that the branching ratios of $H\rightarrow Wbc$ in the LHT model can reach $\mathcal O(10^{-7})$ in the allowed parameter space.
Gluons inside an unpolarized proton are in general linearly polarized in the direction of their transverse momentum, rendering the LHC effectively a polarized gluon collider. This polarization can be utilized in the determination of the spin and parity of the newly found Higgs-like boson. We focus here on the determination of the spin using the azimuthal Collins-Soper angle $ϕ$ distribution.
In the littlest Higgs model with T-parity (LHT), the mirror quarks have flavor structures and will contribute to the top quark flavor changing neutral current. In this work, we perform an extensive investigation of the top quark rare three-body decays $t\to cVV (V=γ,Z,g)$ and $t\to cf\bar{f} (f=b,τ,μ,e)$ at one-loop level. Our results show that the branching ratios of $t\to cgg$ and $t\to cb\bar{b}$ could reach $\mathcal {O}(10^{-3})$ in the favorite parameter space of the littlest Higgs model with T-parity, which implies that these decays may be detectable at the LHC or ILC, while for the oth…
We discuss results of the most accurate to-date test of the low-energy electroweak sector of the standard model of elementary particles. Combining previous measurements with our high-precision calculations we extracted the weak charge of the 133Cs nucleus, Q_W = -73.16(29)_exp (20)_th [S.G. Porsev, K. Beloy, and A. Derevianko, Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 102}, 181601 (2009)]. The result is in perfect agreement with Q_W^{SM} predicted by the standard model, Q_W^{SM} =-73.16(3), and confirms energy-dependence (or running) of the electroweak interaction and places constraints on a variety of new physic…
In the minimal supersymmetric standard model the R-parity violating interactions can trigger various exotic three-body decays for the top quark, which may be accessible at the LHC. In this work we examine the R-violating decays t-> c X_1 X_2, which include the tree-level processes t-> c l^-_i l^+_j (l_i=e, mu, tau) and t->c d_i \bar{d}_j (d_i=d, s, b), as well as the loop induced processes t->c g X (X=g, γ, Z, h). We find that the hereto weakly constrained R-violating couplings can render the decay branching ratios quite sizable, some of which already reach the sensitivity of the Tevatron coll…
We update the single-coupling bounds on R-parity violating supersymmetry using the most up to date data as of October 2009. In addition to the data listed in the 2009 Review of Particle Properties, we utilize a new determination of the weak charge of cesium-133, and preliminary tau-decay branching fractions from Babar. Analysis of semileptonic D-decay is improved by the inclusion of experimentally measured form-factors into the calculation of the Standard Model predictions.
We perform a global analysis of three-body charmless hadronic decays $B\to VP_3\to P_1P_2P_3$ in the perturbative QCD (PQCD) approach, where $V$ denotes an intermediate vector resonance, and $P_i$, $i=1,2,3$, denote final-state pseudoscalar mesons. Fitting the PQCD factorization formulas at leading order in the strong coupling $α_s$ to measured branching ratios and direct $CP$ asymmetries, we determine the Gegenbauer moments in the two-meson distribution amplitudes (DAs) for the meson pairs $P_1P_2=ππ, Kπ, KK$. The fitted Gegenbauer moments are then employed to make predictions for those obser…
The four-body contribution of the model-independent radiative corrections to the Dalitz plot of the semileptonic decays of neutral kaons are computed to order (α/π)(q/M_1), where q is the momentum transfer and M_1 is the kaon mass. The final result is presented in two forms. The first one is given in terms of the triple integration of the bremsstrahlung photon ready to be performed numerically; the second one is a fully analytical expression. This paper is organized to make it accessible and reliable in the analysis of the Dalitz plot of precision experiments involving kaons and is not comprom…
Various model-independent aspects of the $\bar{K} N \to K Ξ$ reaction are investigated, starting from the determination of the most general structure of the reaction amplitude for $Ξ$ baryons with $J^P=\frac12^\pm$ and $\frac32^\pm$ and the observables that allow a complete determination of these amplitudes. Polarization observables are constructed in terms of spin-density matrix elements. Reflection symmetry about the reaction plane is exploited, in particular, to determine the parity of the produced $Ξ$ in a model-independent way. In addition, extending the work of Biagi $\mathrm{\textit{et …
We discuss the prospects for production and detection of fermiophobic bosons (exotic bosons decaying only to standard model gauge bosons) at the LHC, and describe simple methods for determining spin. We consider two complementary approaches to spin determination: the search for decays in the diphoton channel, and the comparison of events with no extra spectator jets to those with one extra jet. We show that these approaches can together allow the fermiophobic bosons spin to be determined over a wide range of parameter space. We study both even and odd parity states.
In the little Higgs model with T-parity (LHTM), the only tree-level kinematically allowed two-body decay of the Z_H boson is Z_H-> A_H H and thus one-loop induced two-body decays may have a significant rate. We study the Z_H-> γA_H decay, which is induced at the one-loop level by a fermion triangle and is interesting as it depends on the mechanism of anomaly cancellation of the model. All the relevant two- and three-body decays of the Z_H gauge boson arising at the tree-level are also calculated. We consider a small region of the parameter space where the scale of the symmetry breaking f is st…
The spectrum of charmonium resonances contains a number of unanticipated states along with several conventional quark-model excitations. The hadrons of different quantum numbers $J^P$ appear in a fairly narrow energy band, where $J^P$ refers to the spin-parity of a hadron at rest. This poses a challenge for Lattice QCD studies of (coupled-channel) meson-meson scattering aimed at the determination of scattering amplitudes and resonance pole positions. A wealth of information for this purpose can be obtained from the lattice spectra in frames with nonzero total momentum. These are particularly d…
It was recently pointed out that in supersymmetric scenarios with gravitino dark matter and bilinear R-parity violation, gravitinos with masses below Mw typically decay with a sizable branching ratio into the 3-body final states W^*+lepton and Z^*+neutrino. In this paper we study the indirect detection signatures of gravitino dark matter including such final states. First, we obtain the gamma ray spectrum from gravitino decays, which features a monochromatic contribution from the decay into photon+neutrino and a continuum contribution from the three-body decays. After studying its dependence o…
New-Physics scenarios in $ΔS = 2$ decays of the B_c meson
We study the production of a single resonance at the LHC and its decay into a pair of Z bosons. We demonstrate how full reconstruction of the final states allows us to determine the spin and parity of the resonance and restricts its coupling to vector gauge bosons. Full angular analysis is illustrated with the simulation of the production and decay chain including all spin correlations and the most general couplings of spin-zero, -one, and -two resonances to Standard Model matter and gauge fields. We note implications for analysis of a resonance decaying to other final states.
