An isometric immersion $f: M^{n} \rightarrow \tilde M^{m}$ from an $n$-dimensional Riemannian manifold $M^{n}$ into an almost Hermitian manifold $\tilde M^{m}$ of complex dimension $m$ is called pointwise slant if its Wirtinger angles define a function defined on $M$. In this paper we establish the existence and uniqueness theorems for pointwise slant immersions of Riemannian manifolds $M^{n}$ into a complex space form $\tilde M^{n}(c)$ of constant holomorphic sectional curvature $c$.
As a generalization of slant submanifolds and semi-slant submanifolds, we introduce the notions of pointwise slant submanifolds and pointwise semi-slant sunmanifolds of an almost contact metric manifold. We obtain a characterization at each notion, investigate the topological properties of pointwise slant submanifolds, and give some examples of them. We also consider some distributions on cosymplectic, Sasakian, Kenmotsu manifolds and deal with some properties of warped product pointwise semi-slant submanifolds. Finally, we give some inequalities for the squared norm of the second fundamental …
We introduce the notions of pointwise almost h-slant submanifolds and pointwise almost h-semi-slant submanifolds as a generalization of slant submanifolds, pointwise slant submanifolds, semi-slant submanifolds, and pointwise semi-slant submanifolds. We have characterizations and investigate the integrability of distributions, the conditions for such distributions to be totally geodesic foliations, the mean curvature vector fields on totally umbilic submanifolds, the properties of h-slant functions and h-semi-slant functions, the properties of non-trivial warped product proper pointwise h-semi-…
Recently, B.-Y. Chen and O. J. Garay studied pointwise slant submanifolds of almost Hermitian manifolds. By using the notion of pointwise slant submanifolds, we investigate the geometry of pointwise semi-slant submanifolds and their warped products in Sasakian and cosymplectic manifolds. We prove that there exist no proper pointwise semi-slant warped product submanifold other than contact CR-warped products in Sasakian manifolds. We give non-trivial examples of such submanifolds in cosypmlectic manifolds and obtain several fundamental results, including a characterization for warped product po…
The purpose of this paper is to study pointwise pseudo-slant warped product submanifolds of a Kähler manifold $\widetilde{M}$. We derive the conditions of integrability and totally geodesic foliation for the distributions allied to the characterization of a pointwise pseudo-slant submanifold of $\widetilde{M}$. The necessary and sufficient conditions for isometrically immersed pointwise pseudo-slant submanfold of $\widetilde{M}$ to be a pointwise pseudo-slant warped product and a locally Riemannian product are obtained.
Inspired by the concepts of slant distribution and slant submanifold, with their variants of hemi-slant, semi-slant, bi-slant, or almost bi-slant, we introduce the more general concepts of $k$-slant distribution and $k$-slant submanifold in the settings of an almost Hermitian, an almost product Riemannian, an almost contact metric, and an almost paracontact metric manifold and study some of their properties. We prove that, for any proper $k$-slant distribution in the tangent bundle of a Riemannian manifold, there exists another one in its orthogonal complement, and we establish basic relations…
In this paper, we study some properties of warped product pointwise bi-slant submanifolds in locally metallic Riemannian manifolds and we construct some examples in Euclidean spaces.
Recently Y{ü}ksel et. al. \cite{SY} shows that there doesn't exist any proper semi-slant warped product submanifolds in a Lorentzian paracosymplectic manifold. In the present article, we first define and give preparatory lemmas for a new generalize class of semi-slant submanifolds called pointwise semi-slant submanifolds in a Lorentzian paracosymplectic manifold, and then we ensure by presenting some existence results and characterization theorem that there exist a non-trivial pointwise semi-slant warped product submanifolds in a Lorentzian paracosymplectic manifold counter to warped product s…
In this paper, we study the geometry of pointwise semi-slant warped products in a locally conformal Kaehler manifold. In particular, we obtain several results which extend Chen's inequality for CR-warped product submanifolds in Kaehler manifolds. Also, we study the corresponding equality cases. Several related results on pointwise semi-slant warped products are also proved in this paper.
The present paper deals with the study of warped product pointwise bi-slant submanifolds of Kenmotsu manifolds with an example. The characterization for such submanifold is also discussed. An inequality of such submanifold is obtained and its equality case is also considered.
It is known that there exist no warped product semi-slant submanifolds in Kaehler manifolds \cite{Sahin}. Recently, Chen and Garay studied pointwise-slant submanifolds of almost Hermitian manifolds in \cite{CG} and obtained many new results for such submanifolds. In this paper, we first introduce pointwise semi-slant submanifolds of Kaehler manifolds and then we show that there exists non-trivial warped product pointwise semi-slant submanifolds of Kaehler manifold by giving an example, contrary to the semi-slant case. We present a characterization theorem and establish an inequality for the sq…
Almost para-Hermitian manifold it is manifold equipped with almost para-complex structure and compatible pseudo-metric of neutral signature. It is considered a class of immersions of almost para-Hermitian manifolds into almost para-Hermitian manifolds. Such immersions are called slant submanifolds. The concept is an analogue of the idea of slant submanifold in almost Hermitian geometry. There are classified pointwise slant surfaces of four dimensional almost para-Hermitian manifold.
Warped product manifolds have been studied for a long period of time. In contrast, the study of warped product submanifolds from extrinsic point of view was initiated by the first author around the beginning of this century in [7, 8]. Since then the study of warped product submanifolds has been investigated by many geometers. The notion of slant submanifolds of almost Hermitian manifolds was introduced in [5]. Bi-slant submanifolds in almost contact metric manifolds were defined in [4] by J. L. Cabrerizo et al. In [26], we studied bi-slant submanifolds and warped product bi-slant submanifolds …
We introduce sequential warped product submanifolds of Kaehler manifolds, provide examples and establish Chen's inequality for such submanifolds. The equality case is also studied. Moreover, by inspiring Lawson and Simons's integral currrent's theorem on a submanifold, we find a similar pinching inequality for a sequential warped product submanifold and obtain geometric results when the equality case is satisfied.
In this paper we establish some inequalities concerning the $k$-Ricci curvature of a slant submanifold in a quaternionic space form. We also obtain obstructions to the existence of quaternionic slant immersions in quaternionic space forms with unfull first normal bundle.
We introduce slant Riemannian maps from Riemannian manifolds to almost Hermitian manifolds as a generalization of slant immersions, invariant Riemannian maps and anti-invariant Riemannian maps. We give examples, obtain characterizations and investigate the harmonicity of such maps. We also obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for slant Riemannian maps to be totally geodesic. Moreover we relate the notion of slant Riemannian maps to the notion of pseudo horizontally weakly conformal maps which are useful for proving various complex-analytic properties of stable harmonic maps from complex …
We consider critical points of the functionals $Π$ and $Ψ$ defined as the global $L^2$-norm of the second fundamental form and mean curvature vector of isometric immersions of compact Riemannian manifolds into a background Riemannian manifold, respectively, as functionals over the space of deformations of the immersion. We prove gap theorems for these functionals into hyperbolic manifolds, and show that the celebrated gap theorem for minimal immersions into the sphere can be cast as a theorem about critical points of these functionals of constant mean curvature function, and whose second funda…
We analyze the differential relation corresponding to integrability of almost complex structures, reformulated as a directed immersion relation by Demailly and Gaussier. Combining results of Clemente [3], we show that applying h-principle techniques yields the following statement: for an almost complex manifold with arbitrary metric $(X, J, g)$, and for $ε> 0$, there exists a smooth function $f : X \rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ and almost complex structure $J'$ on $X$ such that $J$ and $J'$ are $C^0$-close on the graph of $f$ with respect to the extended metric on $X \times \mathbb{R}$, and such tha…
Let $M$ be an $n$-dimensional Lagrangian submanifold of a complex space form. We prove a pointwise inequality $$δ(n_1,\ldots,n_k) \leq a(n,k,n_1,\ldots,n_k) \|H\|^2 + b(n,k,n_1,\ldots,n_k)c,$$ with on the left hand side any delta-invariant of the Riemannian manifold $M$ and on the right hand side a linear combination of the squared mean curvature of the immersion and the constant holomorphic sectional curvature of the ambient space. The coefficients on the right hand side are optimal in the sence that there exist non-minimal examples satisfying equality at at least one point. We also character…
