We give a review about the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with three right-handed neutrinos (MSSM3RHN). We, first introduce the minimal set of fields to built this model in their superfields formalism. After it, we build the lagrangian of the model in the superspace formalism and also introduce the soft terms to break SUSY. We show how to get masses to the neutrinos and sneutrinos in this model.
In order to meet the requirement of BBN, the right handed neutrino is added to the singlet Higgs sector in the GNMSSM. The spectrum and Feynman rules are calculated. the dark matter phenomenology is also studied. In case of $ł\sim 0$, the singlet sector can give perfect explanation of relic abundance of dark matter and small cosmological structure simulations. The BBN constraints on the light mediator can be easily solved by decaying to the right handed neutrino. When the $ł_N$ is at the order of $\mathcal{O}(0.1)$, the mass of the mediator can be constrained to several MeV
We discuss a possibility to probe right-handed weak hadronic currents in rare semileptonic b -> s transitions. It is shown that within models involving right-handed as well as left-handed quark currents (LR models) one can expect a strong enhancement of the right-handed K* production in B -> K* l+ l- decays compared with models including only left-handed quark currents (SM, MSSM). Hence an experimental study of the transverse asymmetry of the produced K* mesons provides a clear test of the presence of the right-handed quark currents and a possibiltity to discriminate between the MSSM and LR ex…
We discuss neutrino masses in the framework of a minimal extension of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) consisting of an additional single right-handed neutrino superfield $N$ with a heavy Majorana mass $M$, which induces a single light see-saw mass $m_{ν_3}$ leaving two neutrinos massless at tree-level. This trivial extension to the MSSM may account for the atomospheric neutrino data via $ν_μ\to ν_τ$ oscillations by assuming a near maximal mixing angle $θ_{23}\sim π/4$ and taking $Δm_{23}^2 \sim m_{ν_3}^2 \sim 2.5\times 10^{-3} eV^2$. In order to account for the solar neutrino …
We investigate the parameter space of a supersymmetric model with an extended U(1) gauge symmetry in which the RH sneutrino is a thermal dark matter candidate. In this scenario, annihilation of RH sneutrinos proceeds mainly through Higgs or Z' exchange. We find that sneutrinos in the mass range from 50GeV to more than 1 TeV can be consistent with both the WMAP limit and the direct detection upper limits. Powerful constraints from new gauge boson searches at the LHC as well as from $ΔM_s$ are incorporated. Depending on the choice of the U(1) charge, these scenarios will be further probe by dire…
In this article I review some connections between flavor physics and collider physics. The first part discusses the effect of right-handed charged currents on the determination of the CKM elements V_ub. It is shown that such an effective right-handed W-coupling can be generated in the MSSM which would lead to a sizable enhancement of single-top production at the LHC. The second part of this article focuses on the constraints on the mass splitting between left-handed squarks from Kaon and D mixing. Such a mass splitting has interesting consequences for squark decay chains at colliders.
We study the μ\to e γdecay in the Z_3-invariant next-to-minimal supersymmetric (SUSY) Standard Model (NMSSM) with superheavy right-handed neutrinos. We assume that the soft SUSY breaking parameters are generated at the GUT scale, not universally as in the minimal supergravity scenario but in such a way that those soft parameters which are specific to the NMSSM can differ from the soft parameters which involve only the MSSM fields while keeping the universality at the GUT scale within the soft parameters for the MSSM and right-handed neutrino fields. We call this type of boundary conditions "se…
We show that, for all values of $Tan β$ and the light right-handed stop mass for which the electroweak phase transition is strong enough to avoid washout following electroweak baryogenesis, the electroweak vacuum is stable over the lifetime of the observed Universe. Cosmological stability of the electroweak vacuum is violated only if the light right-handed stop is lighter than 100-115GeV.
The see-saw mechanism is usually applied to explain the lightness of neutrinos. The traditional see-saw mechanism introduces at least two right-handed neutrinos for the realistic neutrino spectrum. In the case of supersymmetry, loop corrections can also contribute to neutrino masses, which lead to the possibility to generate the neutrino spectrum by introducing just one right-handed neutrino. To be realistic, MSSM suffers from the mu problem and other phenomenological difficulties, so we extend NMSSM (the MSSM with a singlet S) by introducing one single right-handed neutrino superfield (N) and…
We study the light-element abundances in supersymmetric model where the right-handed sneutrino is the lightest superparticle (LSP), assuming that the neutrino masses are purely Dirac-type. In such a scenario, the lightest superparticle in the minimal supersymmetric standard model sector (which we call MSSM-LSP) becomes long-lived, and thermal relic MSSM-LSP may decay after the big-bang nucleosynthesis starts. We calculate the light-element abundances including non-standard nuclear reactions induced by the MSSM-LSP decay, and derive constraints on the scenario of right-handed sneutrino LSP.
The construction of an effective 3D theory at high temperatures for the MSSM as a model of electroweak baryogenesis is discussed. The analysis for a single light scalar field shows, that given the experimental constraints, there is no value of the Higgs mass for which a sufficiently first-order phase transition is obtained. A precise determination of the 3D parameters of the effective theory for the case of a light right-handed stop allows us to obtain an upper bound on the masses of the lightest Higgs and right-handed stop using the two-loop effective potential. A two-stage phase transition p…
The recent intriguing measurements of $R_{K}$ and $R_{K^*}$ are important hints of new physics that violates lepton universality. We analyze the semileptonic decays $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ in the framework of the $B-L$ extension of Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) with Inverse Seesaw (BLSSMIS). A salient feature of this model is that one of the right-handed sneutrino can be light and the neutrino Yukawa couplings are of order one. We show that the box diagram mediated by right-handed sneutrino, higgsino-like chargino, and light stop can account simultaneously for both $R_{K}$ and $…
Taking the solar and the atmospheric neutrino experiments into account we discuss the lepton flavor violating processes, such as $τ\toμγ$ or $μ\to eγ$, in the minimal supersymmetric standard model with right-handed neutrinos (MSSMRN) and the supersymmetric SU(5) GUT with right-handed neutrinos (SU(5)RN). The predicted branching ratio of $μ\to eγ$ in the MSSMRN with the MSW large angle solution is so large that it goes beyond the current experimental bound if the second-generation right-handed Majorana mass $M_{ν_2}$ is greater than $\sim 10^{13}(\sim 10^{14})$GeV for $\tanβ=30(3)$. When we tak…
We consider the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) extended by introducing three right-handed (s)neutrinos to account for neutrino masses in the oscillation experiments. Assuming that the neutrino masses are purely Dirac-type, the lightest right-handed sneutrino $\tilde ν_R$ can be the lightest superparticle (LSP), which is a good candidate of cold dark matter (CDM) of the universe. We study the possibility of realizing $\tilde ν_R$-CDM, paying a special attention to the production of $\tilde ν_R$ via decay of the next-to-lightest superparticle (NLSP) after its freeze-out time. It is…
We show that MSSM with three right handed neutrinos incorporating a renormalizable Type-I seesaw superpotential and no-scale SURGA Kähler potential can lead to a Starobinsky kind of inflation potential along a flat direction associated with gauge invariant combination of Higgs, slepton and right handed sneutrino superfields. The inflation conditions put constraints on the Dirac Yukawa coupling and the Majorana masses required for the neutrino masses and also demands the tuning among the parameters. The scale of inflation is set by the mass of the heaviest right handed neutrino. We also fit the…
We analyze the neutrino phenomenology in an $SU(5)$ F-theory model with both a visible sector and a twin hidden sector. At low energies, the strong and weak scales of the two sectors may differ but the spectrum of states is described by the MSSM (MSSM$^\prime$) in the visible (twin) sectors. What is special about the model is that there are right-handed neutrinos which couple to both sectors via Yukawa couplings. As a result, assuming 3 right-handed neutrinos with a large mass much greater than the weak scale, at tree-level the seesaw mechanism results in 3 massive Majorana neutrinos and 3 mas…
Lepton flavor violating Higgs boson decays are studied within the context of seesaw models with Majorana massive neutrinos. Two models are considered: The SM-seesaw, with the Standard Model Particle content plus three right handed neutrinos, and the MSSM-seesaw, with the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model particle content plus three right handed neutrinos and their supersymmetric partners. The widths for these decays are derived from a full one-loop diagrammatic computation in both models, and they are analyzed numerically in terms of the seesaw parameters, namely, the Dirac and Majorana ma…
The left-handed sneutrino in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) has been ruled out as a viable thermal dark matter candidate, due to conflicting constraints from direct detection experiments and from the measurement of the dark matter relic density. The intrinsic fine-tuning problem of the MSSM, however, motivates an extension with a new U(1)' gauge symmetry. We show that in the U(1)'-extended MSSM the right-handed sneutrino becomes a good thermal dark matter candidate. We identify two generic parameter space regions where the combined constraints from relic density determination…
We revisit the electroweak baryogenesis within the context of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM), studying its potential collider signatures. We find that this mechanism of baryogenesis does not give a new CP violating signal at the $B$-factories. The first circumstantial evidence may come from enhanced $B_s$ or $B_d$ mixing. If a light right-handed scalar top and Higgs are found as required, a linear collider represents the best possibility for confirming the scenario.
We investigate what would be the consequences for leptogenesis of the existence of a charged SU(2)_L singlet scalar delta^+. If such a scalar particle exists, it allows the right-handed neutrinos to couple not only to left-handed lepton and Higgs doublets as in ordinary leptogenesis, but also to a right-handed charged lepton and a delta^+. This provides a new source of leptogenesis which can be successful in a non-resonant way at scales as low as TeV. The incorporation of this scenario in left-right symmetric and unified models is discussed.
We describe the implementation of the two-loop Higgs-mass corrections of $\mathcal{O}{\left(α_t^2\right)}$ in the complex MSSM in $\tt{FeynHiggs}$. The program for the calculation is included in $\tt{FeynHiggs}$ and documented here in some detail such that it can be re-used as a template for similar calculations.
We show a new and simple model which induces large Majorana masses of right-handed neutrinos. It is based on U(1)_X anomalous gauge symmetry, which is cancelled by the Green-Schwarz mechanism. These Majorana masses can solve the solar neutrino problem by the vacuum oscillation mechanism. The superpotential of this model is scale invariant. The field contents are simple extensions of the MSSM, which have four standard gauge singlet fields, two extra vector-like fields, and right-handed neutrinos in addition to the MSSM.
We review the baryogenesis scenario in the MSSM at the perturbative level and, in particular, the impact of two-loop corrections on the strength of the phase transition and the amount of generated baryon asymmetry. We confirm the baryogenesis window, where m_H is less than 115GeV, for m_Q less than a few GeV, and the right-handed stop mass is constrained in the region between 100GeV and the top mass. This scenario will be tested at LEP and Tevatron colliders.
We investigate the effect of B+L - violating anomalous generation of massive right-handed neutrinos on their decoupling, when the right-handed neutrino mass is considerably greater than the right-handed gauge boson masses. Considering normal annihilation channels, the Lee-Weinberg type of calculation, in this case, gives an upper bound of about 700 Gev, which casts doubt on the existence of such a right-handed neutrino mass greater than right-handed gauge boson masses. We examine the possibility that a consideration of anomalous effects related to the SU(2)_R gauge group may turn this into a l…
The Standard Model of particle interactions is extended to include fermion doublets (n,e)_R transforming under the gauge group SU(2)_R such that n is a scotino (dark-matter fermion), with odd R parity. This dark left-right model (DLRM) treats neutrinos and scotinos in parallel, and has interesting phenomenology at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
We discuss on the search for the right-handed weak interaction effects in the SU(2)$_L \times$SU(2)$_R$ model with lepton doublets $(ν_\ell, \ell^-)_L$ and $(N_\ell, \ell^-)_R$ ($\ell = e, μ, τ)$. We will point out that only the chance of the observation of the right-handed weak interaction effect will be in the rare decay $K^+ \rightarrow π^- μ^+ μ^+$.
We calculate the two-loop beta functions of the right-handed neutrino mass matrix in the Standard Model extended with right-handed neutrinos. We show that two-loop quantum effects induced by the heavier right-handed neutrinos can induce sizable contributions (sometimes dominant) to the physical masses of the lighter right-handed neutrinos. These effects can significantly affect the masses of the active neutrinos in the seesaw mechanism and the low energy phenomenology.
We propose a model with the left-handed and right-handed continuous Abelian gauge symmetry; $U(1)_L\times U(1)_R$. Then three right-handed neutrinos are naturally required to achieve $U(1)_R$ anomaly cancellations, while several mirror fermions are also needed to do $U(1)_L$ anomaly cancellations. Then we formulate the model, and discuss its testability of the new gauge interactions at collider physics such as the large hadron collider (LHC) and the international linear collider (ILC). In particular, we can investigate chiral structure of the interactions by the analysis of forward-backward as…
We present predictions for $μ\to e γ$ and $τ\to μγ$ in the CMSSM in which there is a natural hierarchy of neutrino masses resulting from the sequential dominance of three right-handed neutrinos. We perform a global analysis of this model in the $(m_0,M_{1/2})$ plane, assuming radiative electroweak symmetry breaking, and including all observed laboratory data. We confirm that a large (small) $τ\to μγ$ rate results from the dominant right-handed neutrino being the heaviest (lightest) one. We show that the $μ\to e γ$ rate may determine the order of the sub-dominant neutrino Yukawa couplings in th…
We examine constraints on a model with pure right-handed third generation charged couplings. The parameters of the right-handed mixing matrix and the right-handed coupling strength are constrained from semi-leptonic B decays, the mass difference of neutral mesons, the CP violating observables epsilon and epsilon', and the electric dipole moment of the neutron. We find the model to be tightly constrained by these parameters with several fine tuning conditions on the phases in the right-handed mixing matrix. There is also a necessarily non-zero value of the left and right W mixing parameter. CP …
We adapt the type II seesaw mechanism to the framework of the 3-3-1 model with right-handed neutrinos. We emphasize that the mechanism is capable of generating small masses for the left-handed and right-handed neutrinos and the structure of the model allows that both masses arise from the same Yukawa coupling. For typical values of the free parameters of the model we may obtain at least one right-handed neutrino with mass in the KeV range. Right-handed neutrino with mass in this range is a viable candidate for the warm component of the dark matter existent in the universe.
We present a systematic approach to solve analytically for the right-handed quark mixings in the minimal left-right symmetric model which generally has both explicit and spontaneous CP violations. The leading-order result has the same hierarchical structure as the left-handed CKM mixing, but with additional CP phases originating from a spontaneous CP-violating phase in the Higgs vev. We explore the phenomenology entailed by the new right-handed mixing matrix, particularly the bounds on the mass of $W_R$ and the CP phase of the Higgs vev.
We study flavor-changing neutral current and CP violations in the minimal supersymmetric left-right model. We calculate the beyond-standard-model contributions to the neutral kaon mixing $ΔM_K$ and $ε$, and find possible to have a numerical cancelation between the contributions from the right-handed gauge boson and supersymmetric box diagram. With the cancelation, the right-handed $W$-boson mass scale can be lowered to about 2 TeV, well within the search limit of LHC.
In the standard model, several forms of quark mass matrices which correspond to the choice of weak bases lead to the same left-handed mixings $V_L=V_{CKM}$, while the right-handed mixings $V_R$ are not observable quantities. Instead, in a left-right extension of the standard model, such forms are ansatze and give different right-handed mixings which are now observable quantities. We partially select the reliable forms of quark mass matrices by means of constraints on right-handed mixings in some left-right models, in particular on $V^R_{cb}$. Hermitian matrices are easily excluded.
Recent lattice determinations of direct CP violation in kaon decays, parametrized by $ε'$, suggest a discrepancy of several sigma between experiment and the standard model. Assuming that this situation is due to new physics, we investigate a solution in terms of right-handed charged currents. Chiral perturbation theory, in combination with lattice QCD results, allows one to accurately determine the effect of right-handed interactions on $ε'$. In addition, similar techniques provide a direct link between the right-handed contributions to $ε'$ and hadronic electric dipole moments. We demonstrate…
We discuss the phenomenology of the most general effective Lagrangian, up to operators of dimension 5, build with standard model fields and interactions including right-handed neutrinos. In particular we find there is a dimension 5 electroweak moment operator of right-handed neutrinos, not discussed previously in the literature, which could have interesting phenomenological consequences.
In this lecture I review the most relevant modifications of the Standard Model of particle physics that result from inclusion of right-handed neutrinos and a new neutral gauge boson Z'.
The relic abundance of the lightest right-handed sneutrino dark matter in supersymmetric B-L extension of the standard model is revisited. We argue that it can form a bound state through the exchange of light B-L Higgs boson and a large non-perturbative Sommerfeld effect is obtained. We emphasized that with this effect the relic abundance of right-handed sneutrino will lie within the observational limits and the right-handed sneutrino will remain a viable dark matter candidate of mass order up to 1.5 TeV.
We investigate the possibility of Higgs inflation with an extended standard model by right-handed neutrinos and scalar dark matter. We find that the masses of the dark matter and one of the right-handed neutrinos should stand around TeV and $10^{-14}$ GeV scale respectively even if the magnitude of tensor-to-scalar ratio indicates sufficiently small value.
A simple extension of the Standard Model providing Majorana magnetic moments to right-handed neutrinos is presented. The model contains, in addition to the Standard Model particles and right-handed neutrinos, just a singly charged scalar and a vector-like charged fermion. The phenomenology of the model is analysed and its implications in cosmology, astrophysics and lepton flavour violating processes are extracted. If light enough, the charged particles responsible for the right-handed neutrino magnetic moments could copiously be produced at the LHC.
In this paper we propose a low-energy parametrization of the two right-handed neutrino model, and discuss the prospects to determine experimentally these parameters in supersymmetric scenarios. In addition, we present exact formulas to reconstruct the high-energy leptonic superpotential in terms of the low-energy observables. We also discuss limits of the three right-handed neutrino model where this procedure applies.
We consider a $U(1)'$ extended supersymmetric model with a right-handed neutrino superfield which can generate light neutrino mass by Type I seesaw mechanism. The lighter superpartner of the right-handed neutrino could be the scalar dark matter. These right-handed sneutrinos can come from the decay of $\tilde{Z'}$, superpartner of the extra gauge boson $Z'$. Left-right handed sneutrino mixings affect their decays further, giving rise to displaced "lepton flavour violating" signatures. A wino-like chargino NLSP (next to lightest supersymmetric particle) creates even more interesting decay topol…
We point out that the right-handed squark mixings can sizably enhance SUSY contributions to Delta M_s by taking into account renormalization group effects via the CKM matrix. The recent result of Delta M_s from the D0 experiment at the Tevatron thus implies a strong constraint on the right-handed mixings.
Relic abundance of dark matter is investigated in the framework of universal extra dimension models with right-handed neutrinos. These models are free from the serious Kaluza-Klein (KK) graviton problem that the original universal extra dimension model has. The first KK particle of the right-handed neutrino is a candidate for dark matter in this framework, and its relic abundance is determined by three processes, (1) the decay of the KK photon into the first KK right-handed neutrino in the late universe, (2) production of the first KK right-handed neutrino from the thermal bath in the early un…
Right-handed neutrinos offer us the possibility of accommodating neutrino masses. In a supersymmetric model, this implies the existence of right-handed sneutrinos. Right-handed sneutrinos are expected to be as light as other supersymmetric particles if the neutrinos are Dirac fermions, or if the lepton-number breaking scale is at (or below) the supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking scale, assumed to be around the electroweak scale. Depending on the mechanism of SUSY breaking, the lightest right-handed sneutrino may be the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP). We consider the unique hadron collider s…
We propose an idea that the observed CP violation in neutrino oscillation is originated from the phase in right-handed neutrino mixing by seesaw mechanism. We add small breaking terms $M_{ij}N_{R_i}N_{R_j} $ in model based on $A_4$ symmetry to generate non-diagonal right-handed neutrino mixing, which will give a small correction to TBM mixing via seesaw mechanism with nonzero reactor angle and CP violating phase. We estimate the CP violating phase by investigating the process of leptogenesis due to the decay of right-handed neutrino.
CP violation in the B_d system is discussed in the supersymmetric grand unified theory (GUT) with the right-handed neutrinos. Above the GUT scale, the right-handed down-type squarks couple to the right-handed neutrinos. Due to the renormalization group effect, flavor violations in the lepton sector may be transfered to the right-handed down-type squark mass matrix, which affects the CP violation in the B decay. Taking into account this effect, we compare the CP violation in B_d \to ψK_S and B_d \to ϕK_S processes. We will find that a significant difference is possible between the CP violating …
A model based on the $\mbox{SU(3)}_L\otimes \mbox{U(1)}_N$ gauge group, in which neutrinos have right-handed neutral currents is considered. We argue that in order to have a result consistent with low-energy one, the right-handed neutrino component must be treated as correction instead of an equivalent spin state.
We consider an extension of nuMSSM with an extra U(1) that realizes D-term inflation driven by the right-handed sneutrino. Non-renormalizable terms in the Kahler potential and the superpotential are considered, the latter controlled by a suitable discrete R-symmetry. We find that, for subplanckian inflaton values, the predictions of inflationary parameters are compatible with observations, establishing the right-handed sneutrino driven inflation as a viable scenario.
We discuss the phenomenology of right-handed charged currents in the framework of the Standard Model Effective Field Theory, in which they arise due to a single gauge-invariant dimension-six operator. We study the manifestations of the nine complex couplings of the $W$ to right-handed quarks in collider physics, flavor physics, and low-energy precision measurements. We first obtain constraints on the couplings under the assumption that the right-handed operator is the dominant correction to the Standard Model at observable energies. We subsequently study the impact of degeneracies with other B…
In this work we show that light right-handed neutrinos, with mass in the sub-eV scale, is a natural outcome in a 3-3-1 model. By considering effective dimension five operators, the model predicts three light right-handed neutrinos, weakly mixed with the left-handed ones. We show also that the model is able to explain the LSND experiment and still be in agreement with solar and atmospheric data for neutrino oscillation.
We argue that the superpartner of the Dirac right-handed neutrino is a prime candidate for dark matter created from a 'mattergenesis' mechanism. We show that due to the smallness of the Yukawa couplings, a right-handed sneutrino density created in the early Universe would not be erased by annihilations, which remain out of thermal equilibrium. It would also not be drowned by a later, additional production of right-handed sneutrinos, as the relic density of the non-thermal right-handed sneutrinos is found to be generally negligible compared to the observed dark matter density. Mild constraints …
The standard model is extended with three right-handed, singlet neutrinos with general couplings permitted by the $SU(2)_{L}\times U(1)$ symmetry. The traditional oscillations are accounted for, as usually, by three left-handed neutrinos. The article investigates new structures that develop when the masses of the right-handed states are in the eV range. The new states interfere and oscillate with the standard light neutrinos. New structures appear when the detectors average over short wavelengths. I use these results to present and classify properties of the observed anomalies in the MiniBooNe…
We examine the effects of magnetic moments of right-handed neutrinos, whose masses are set at around TeV scale, then it is plausible to have a large enhancement for the production cross section of TeV scale right-handed neutrinos though the Drell-Yan process, e^+ e^- to gamma, Z* to N_i N_j, which is within the reach of the future linear collider (ILC).
We analyse the low energy predictions of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) arising from a GUT scale Pati-Salam gauge group further constrained by an $A_4 \times Z_5$ family symmetry, resulting in four soft scalar masses at the GUT scale: one left-handed soft mass $m_0$ and three right-handed soft masses $m_1,m_2,m_3$, one for each generation. We demonstrate that this model, which was initially developed to describe the neutrino sector, can explain collider and non-collider measurements such as the dark matter relic density, the Higgs boson mass and, in particular, the anomalous …
We consider lepton-quark contact interactions in models with right-handed neutrinos, and find that observational data from SN1987A restricts the scale of such interactions to be at least $Λ>90$ TeV.
There are no upper limits on the possible number of massive, singlet (right--handed) neutrinos that may participate in the seesaw mechanism, and some string constructions motivate seesaw models with up to O(100) right--handed neutrinos. In this case, the seesaw mass scale can be significantly higher than that in the traditional scheme with just 3 right--handed neutrinos. We consider the possible phenomenological implications of such models, in particular, for lepton-flavour violation and electric dipole moments. Since the neutrino masses depend on the Majorana mass scale linearly, while supers…
