Néron models of pseudo-Abelian varieties

We study Néron models of pseudo-Abelian varieties over excellent discrete valuation rings of equal characteristic $p>0$ and generalize the notions of good reduction and semiabelian reduction to such algebraic groups. We prove that the well-known representation-theoretic criteria for good and semiabelian reduction due to Néron-Ogg-Shafarevich and Grothendieck carry over to the pseudo-Abelian case, and give examples to show that our results are the best possible in most cases. Finally, we study the order of the group scheme of connected components of the Néron model in the pseudo-Abelian case. Our method is able to control the $\ell$-part (for $\ell\not=p$) of this order completely, and we study the $p$-part in a particular (but still reasonably general) situation.

Pseudo-abelian varieties

Chevalley's theorem states that every smooth connected algebraic group over a perfect field is an extension of an abelian variety by a smooth connected affine group. That fails when the base field is not perfect. We define a pseudo-abelian variety over an arbitrary field k to be a smooth connected k-group in which every smooth connected affine normal k-subgroup is trivial. These notes grew out of a mini-course given from May 13th to May 17th at UQAM in Montreal during a workshop on Diophantine Approximation and Value Distribution Theory. $p$-adic families of automorphic forms over some unitary Shimura varieties

We construct some $n$-dimensional eigenvarieties for finite slope overconvergent eigenforms over some unitary Shimura varieties with signature $(1,n-1)\times(0,n)\times\cdots\times(0,n)$ by adapting Andreatta-Iovita-Pilloni's method. We also show that there are some Galois pseudo-characters over our eigenvarieties by studying analytic continuation of finite slope eigenforms over these Shimura varieties.

A conjecture of Ax and degenerations of Fano varieties

Finiteness properties of pseudo-hyperbolic varieties

Motivated by Lang-Vojta's conjecture, we show that the set of dominant rational self-maps of an algebraic variety over a number field with only finitely many rational points in any given number field is finite by combining Amerik's theorem for dynamical systems of infinite order with properties of Prokhorov-Shramov's notion of quasi-minimal models. On Selmer groups of abelian varieties over $\ell$-adic Lie extensions of global function fields

Let $F$ be a global function field of characteristic $p>0$ and $A/F$ an abelian variety. Let $K/F$ be an $ł$-adic Lie extension ($ł\neq p$) unramified outside a finite set of primes $S$ and such that $\Gal(K/F)$ has no elements of order $ł$. We shall prove that, under certain conditions, $Sel_A(K)_ł^\vee$ has no nontrivial pseudo-null submodule.

On the Iwasawa Main conjecture of abelian varieties over function fields

We study a geometric analogue of the Iwasawa Main Conjecture for abelian varieties in the two following cases: constant ordinary abelian varieties over $Z_p^d$-extensions of function fields ($d\geq 1$) ramified at a finite set of places, and semistable abelian varieties over the arithmetic $Z_p$-extension of a function field. One of the tools we use in our proof is a pseudo-isomorphism relating the duals of the Selmer groups of $A$ and its dual abelian variety $A^t$. This holds as well over number fields and is a consequence of a quite general algebraic functional equation.

Big Picard Theorem for jet differentials and Non-archimedean Ax-Lindemann Theorem

By implementing jet differential techniques in non-archimedean geometry, we obtain a big Picard type extension theorem, which generalizes a previous result of Cherry and Ru. As applications, we establish two hyperbolicity-related results. Firstly, we prove a non-archimedean Ax-Lindemann theorem for totally degenerate abelian varieties. Secondly, we show the pseudo-Borel hyperbolicity for subvarieties of general type in abelian varieties.

The cycle structure of a Markoff automorphism over finite fields

We begin an investigation of the action of pseudo-Anosov elements of $\mathrm{Out}(\mathbf{F}_{2})$ on the Markoff-type varieties \[ \mathbb{X}_κ:\:x^{2}+y^{2}+z^{2}=xyz+2+κ\] over finite fields $\mathbb{F}_{p}$ with $p$ prime. We first make a precise conjecture about the permutation group generated by $\mathrm{Out}(\mathbf{F}_{2})$ on $\mathbb{X}_{-2}(\mathbb{F}_{p})$ that shows there is no obstruction at the level of the permutation group to a pseudo-Anosov acting `generically'.
