We extend the work on thermodynamics of Lorentzian NUTty solutions, by including simultaneously the effect of rotation and electromagnetic charges. Due to the fact that Misner strings carry electric charge, and similar to the non-rotating case, we observe an interesting interplay between the horizon and asymptotic charges. Namely, upon employing the Euclidean action calculation we derive two alternative full cohomogeneity first laws, one that includes the variations of the horizon electric charge and the asymptotic magnetic charge and another that involves the horizon magnetic charge and the asymptotic electric charge. When one of the horizon charges vanishes, we obtain the corresponding "electric" and "magnetic" first laws that are connected by the electromagnetic duality. We also briefly study the free energy of the corresponding system.
We argue that the Einstein-Yang-Mills-Higgs theory presents nontrivial solutions with a NUT charge. These solutions approach asymptotically the Taub-NUT spacetime and generalize the known dyon black hole configurations. The main properties of the solutions and the differences with respect to the asymptotically flat case are discussed. We find that a nonabelian magnetic monopole placed in the field of gravitational dyon necessarily acquires an electric field, while the magnetic charge may take arbitrary values.
We extend the previous analysis of (locally) asymptotically flat solutions of Kaluza-Klein (KK) theory by assuming that the dilaton charge is an independent parameter. This corresponds to a general nondegenerate matrix of charges within the geodesic sigma model approach and comes into contact with singular solutions of the four-dimensional Einstein-scalar theory. New features of the degenerate class of solutions, which includes regular KK black holes, are also revealed. Solving the constraint equation, we find three distinct branches of the dilaton charge as a function of the other asymptotic …
Picking up the threads on a recent proposal [arXiv:1903.08668], we show how to formulate consistent thermodynamics of Lorentzian Taub-NUT spacetimes in the presence of electric and magnetic charges. Namely, with an entropy identified with a quarter of the horizon area and no Misner time periodicity condition imposed, we show that a new pair of conjugate quantities can be introduced so that the NUT parameter can be independently varied and the corresponding first law and Smarr relation can be consistently formulated. Moreover, we show that (contrary to the statements in the literature) the elec…
In this paper, we investigate the thermodynamics of the charged NUT black hole with the Misner strings present in the Einstein-Maxwell gravity. We show that the Misner charge $N$ can be obtained by performing Komar integration over the Misner strings in the presence of electric and magnetic charges and the corresponding Smarr relation and first law can also be naturally established based on this geometric perspective. Besides, we demonstrate that the electric and magnetic charges appearing in the first law and Smarr relation are contingent on the special choice of gauge freedom for the electri…
We construct new axially symmetric solutions of SU(2) Yang-Mills theory in a four dimensional anti-de Sitter spacetime. Possessing nonvanishing nonabelian charges, these regular configurations have also a nonzero angular momentum. Numerical arguments are also presented for the existence of rotating solutions of Einstein-Yang-Mills equations in an asymptotically anti-de Sitter spacetime.
New rotating dyonic dipole black ring solutions are derived in 5D Einstein-dilaton gravity with antisymmetric forms. The black rings are analyzed and their thermodynamics is discussed. New dyonic black string solutions are also presented.
We have obtained the most general solution of the Einstein vacuum equation for the axially symmetric stationary metric in which both the Hamilton-Jacobi equation for particle motion and the Klein - Gordon equation are separable. It can be interpreted to describe the gravitational field of a rotating dyon, a particle endowed with both gravoelectric (mass) and gravomagnetic (NUT parameter) charge. Further, there also exists a duality relation between the two charges and the radial and the polar angle coordinates which keeps the solution invariant. The solution can however be transformed into the…
We study a class of rotating dyonic black holes in the heterotic string theory in four dimension which have left, right independent electric charges but have same magnitude for the left and right magnetic charges. In both left and right sector the electric and the magnetic vectors are orthogonal to each other. The gyromagnetic(electric) ratios are in general found not to have an upper bound.
Recently, we have shown the existence of a finite energy one-half monopole. In this paper, we would like to introduce electric charge into the one-half monopole configuration, thus creating a one-half dyon. This one-half dyon possesses finite energy, magnetic dipole moment and angular momentum. Hence it is able to rotate in the presence of an external magnetic field. Similar to the single pole dyons and the MAP dyons, this one-half dyon possesses critical (maximum) electric charge, total energy, and magnetic dipole moment when the Higgs self-coupling constant is nonvanishing, and the electric …
The known BPS dyon black hole solutions of the N=4 heterotic string in four dimensions with non-zero angular momentum all have naked singularities. We show that it is possible to modify a certain class of these solutions by the addition of massive Kaluza-Klein fields in such a way that the solutions decompactify near the core to five-dimensional black hole solutions with regular event horizons. We argue that the degeneracy of the four-dimensional BPS dyon states is given, for large charges, by the five-dimensional geometric entropy.
A conformal field theory representing a four-dimensional classical solution of heterotic string theory is presented. The low-energy limit of this solution has U(1) electric and magnetic charges, and also nontrivial axion and dilaton fields. The low-energy metric contains mass, NUT and rotation parameters. We demonstrate that this solution corresponds to part of an extremal limit of the Kerr-Taub-NUT dyon solution. This limit displays interesting `remnant' behaviour, in that asymptotically far away from the dyon the angular momentum vanishes, but far down the infinite throat in the neighbourhoo…
We construct supersymmetric dyon solutions based on the 't Hooft/Polyakov monopole. We show that these solutions satisfy $κ$ symmetry constraints and can, therefore be generalized to supersymmetric solutions of type I SO(32) string theory. After applying a T-duality transformation to these solutions, we obtain two $D3$-branes connected by a wormhole, embedded in an M5 brane. We analyze the geometries of each $D3$-brane for two cases, one corresponding to a dyon with vanishing spin, and the other corresponding to a magnetic monopole with non-vanishing spin. In the case of vanishing spin, the sc…
The area law of Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of the black hole suggests that the black hole should have a lower-dimensional holographic description. It has been found recently that such holographic pictures could be set up from the study of the thermodynamics of both outer and inner horizons for a large class of rotating and charged black holes. For a four-dimensional dyonic Reissner-Nordström black hole, its thermodynamics indicates that it has multiple holographic pictures not only the electric and magnetic ones corresponding to the conserved electric and magnetic charges carried by the black …
We obtain an asymptotically AdS, non-extremal, electrically charged and rotating black hole solution of 4-dimensional U(1)^4 gauged supergravity with 2 non-zero and independent U(1) charges. The thermodynamical quantities are computed. We find BPS solutions that are nakedly singular. The solution is generalized to include a NUT parameter and dyonic gauge fields. The string frame metric has a rank-2 Killing-Stackel tensor and has completely integrable geodesic motion, and the massless Klein-Gordon equation separates for the Einstein frame metric.
We present a one-parameter family of stationary, asymptotically flat solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell equations with only a mild singularity, which are endowed with mass, angular momentum, a dipole magnetic moment and a quadrupole electric moment. We briefly analyze the structure of this solution, which we interpret as a system of two extreme co-rotating black holes with equal masses and electric charges, and opposite magnetic and gravimagnetic charges, held apart by an electrically charged, magnetized string which also acts as a Dirac-Misner string.
We present extremal stationary solutions that generalize the Israel-Wilson-Perjes class for the d+3-dimensional low-energy limit of heterotic string theory with n >= d+1 U(1) gauge fields compactified on a d-torus. A rotating axisymmetric dyonic solution is obtained using the matrix Ernst potential formulation and expressed in terms of a single d+1 X d+1-matrix harmonic function. By studying the asymptotic behaviour of the field configurations we define the physical charges of the field system. The extremality condition makes the charges to saturate the Bogomol'nyi-Prasad-Sommerfield (BPS) bou…
We describe the most general asymptotically flat, stationary, non-extremal, dyonic black hole of the four-dimensional N = 2 supergravity coupled to 3 vector multiplets that describes the low-energy regime of the STU model. Under U-dualities, this can be used as a seed to generate all single-centered stationary black holes of N = 8 supergravity. The independent conserved charges are the mass, angular momentum, four electric charges and four magnetic charges; an independent NUT charge can also be added. Several aspects of the black hole are presented, including thermodynamics, the BPS limit, the…

We construct a family of multi-dyonically charged and rotating supersymmetric AdS$_2\times Σ$ solutions of $D=4$, $\mathcal{N}=4$ gauged supergravity, where $Σ$ is a sphere with two conical singularities known as a spindle. We argue that these arise as near horizon limits of extremal dyonically charged rotating and accelerating supersymmetric black holes in AdS$_4$, that we conjecture to exist. We demonstrate this in the non-rotating limit, constructing the accelerating black hole solutions and showing that the non-spinning spindle solutions arise as the near horizon limit of the supersymmetri…

We note that, in extended phase space the cosmological constant is a thermodynamic variable. In this paper, this cosmological constant lead us to consider a black hole as a heat engine. So, here we take advantage from holographic heat engine and study two kind of different black holes. We first investigate a static black hole (Dyonic BH) and consider the necessary condition to have high efficiency. Also we continue our investigation for dynamic black hole (rotating charged black hole) and study the effect of rotating parameter on the thermodynamic efficiency of holographic heat engine. We show…
We review the status of microscopic counting of rotating black hole degrees of freedom. We present two complementary approaches which both utilize the near-horizon geometry and precisely reproduce the Bekenstein Hawking entropy for near-extreme rotating black holes in D=4 and D=5. The first one, proposed by Strominger, is applicable for the Ramond-Ramond sector and relies on the correspondence between the near-horizon geometry and the conformal field theory on its boundary. The second one (somewhat more heuristic), employs the conformal sigma-model in the Neveu-Schwarz-Neveu-Schwarz sector and…
We construct the general electrically charged, rotating black hole solution in the heterotic string theory compactified on a six dimensional torus and study its classical properties. This black hole is characterized by its mass, angular momentum, and a 28 dimensional electric charge vector. We recover the axion-dilaton black holes and Kaluza-Klein black holes for special values of the charge vector. For a generic black hole of this kind, the 28 dimensional magnetic dipole moment vector is not proportional to the electric charge vector, and we need two different gyromagnetic ratios for specifyi…
In this paper we study the thermodynamics of rotating black hole solutions arising from four-dimensional gauged N=2 supergravity. We analyze two different supergravity models, characterized by prepotentials $F = -i X^0 X^1$ and $F= -2i \sqrt{X^0 (X^1)^3}$. The black hole configurations are supported by electromagnetic charges and scalar fields with different kinds of boundary conditions. We perform our analysis in the canonical ensemble, where we find a first order phase transition for a suitable range of charges and angular momentum. We perform the thermodynamic stability check on the configu…
