Using the estimate of the difference between the discrete harmonic function and its corresponding continuous version we derive a rate of convergence of the Loewner driving function for the harmonic explorer to the Brownian motion with speed 4 on the real line. Based on this convergence rate, the derivative estimate for chordal $\mbox{SLE}_4$, and the estimate of tip structure modulus for harmonic explorer paths, we obtain an explicit power-law rate of convergence of the harmonic explorer paths to the trace of chordal $\mbox{SLE}_4$ in the supremum distance.
The harmonic explorer is a random grid path. Very roughly, at each step the harmonic explorer takes a turn to the right with probability equal to the discrete harmonic measure of the left-hand side of the path from a point near the end of the current path. We prove that the harmonic explorer converges to SLE(4) as the grid gets finer.
This is a short note describing a model generalizing the Harmonic explorer [6] that might be of interest and it is $\textit{not}$ intended for publication in a journal. The conjectured continuous model should have the same left-passage probability as SLE_$k$ but possibly be a different curve.
We consider the dynamics of a harmonic crystal in $d$ dimensions with $n$ components, $d,n$ arbitrary, $d,n\ge 1$, and study the distribution $μ_t$ of the solution at time $t\in\R$. The initial measure $μ_0$ has a translation-invariant correlation matrix, zero mean, and finite mean energy density. It also satisfies a Rosenblatt- resp. Ibragimov-Linnik type mixing condition. The main result is the convergence of $μ_t$ to a Gaussian measure as $t\to\infty$. The proof is based on the long time asymptotics of the Green's function and on Bernstein's ``room-corridors'' method.
We show that the rotation algebras are limit of matrix algebras in a very strong sense of convergence for algebras with additional Lipschitz structure. Our results generalize to higher dimensional noncommutative tori and operator valued coefficients. In contrast to previous results by Rieffel, Li, Kerr, and Latrémolière we use Lipschitz norms induced by the `carré du champ' of certain natural dynamical systems, including the heat semigroup.
Let $M$ be a complete simply connected manifold which is in addition Gromov hyperbolic, coercive and roughly starlike. For a given harmonic function on $M$, a local Fatou Theorem and a pointwise criteria of non-tangential convergence coming from the density of energy are shown: at almost all points of the boundary, the harmonic function converges non-tangentially if and only if the supremum of the density of energy is finite. As an application of these results, a Calderón-Stein Theorem is proved, that is, the non-tangential properties of convergence, boundedness and finiteness of energy are eq…
We obtain the lower bounds for ergodic convergence rates, including spectral gaps and convergence rates in strong ergodicity for time-changed symmetric Lévy processes by using harmonic function and reversible measure. As direct applications, explicit sufficient conditions for exponential and strong ergodicity are given. Some examples are also presented.
In this paper, we relate the framework of mod-$ϕ$ convergence to the construction of approximation schemes for lattice-distributed random variables. The point of view taken here is that of Fourier analysis in the Wiener algebra, allowing the computation of asymptotic equivalents in the local, Kolmogorov and total variation distances. By using signed measures instead of probability measures, we are able to construct better approximations of discrete lattice distributions than the standard Poisson approximation. This theory applies to various examples arising from combinatorics and number theory…
We suggest a method for constructing positive harmonic functions for a wide class of transition kernels on $Z^+$. We also find natural conditions under which these functions have positive finite limits at infinity. Further, we apply our results on harmonic functions to asymptotically homogeneous Markov chains on $Z^+$ with asymptotically negative drift. More precisely, assuming that Markov chain satisfy Cramér's condition, we study the tail asymptotics of the stationary distribution. In particular, we clarify the influence of the rate of convergence of jumps of the chain towards the limiting d…
For a harmonic function on a tree with random walk whose transition probabilities are bounded between two constants in (0,1/2), it is known that the radial and stochastic properties of convergence, boundedness and finiteness of energy are all a.s. equivalent. We prove here that the analogous non-tangential properties are a.e. equivalent to the above ones.
We study the Doob's $h$-transform of the two-dimensional simple random walk with respect to its potential kernel, which can be thought of as the two-dimensional simple random walk conditioned on never hitting the origin. We derive an explicit formula for the Green's function of this random walk, and also prove a quantitative result on the speed of convergence of the (conditional) entrance measure to the harmonic measure (for the conditioned walk) on a finite set.
In this paper, we present a new approach to derive series expansions for some Gaussian processes based on harmonic analysis of their covariance function. In particular, we propose a new simple rate-optimal series expansion for fractional Brownian motion. The convergence of the latter series holds in mean square and uniformly almost surely, with a rate-optimal decay of the remainder of the series. We also develop a general framework of convergent series expansions for certain classes of Gaussian processes with stationarity. Finally, an application to optimal functional quantization is described…
We consider admissible random walks on hyperbolic graphs. For a given harmonic function on such a graph, we prove that asymptotic properties of non-tangential boundedness and non-tangential convergence are almost everywhere equivalent. The proof is inspired by the works of F. Mouton in the cases of Riemannian manifolds of pinched negative curvature and infinite trees. It involves geometric and probabilitistic methods.
In this paper, a critical Galton-Watson branching process with immigration $Z_{n}$ is studied. We first obtain the convergence rate of the harmonic moment of $Z_{n}$. Then the large deviation of $S_{Z_n}:=\sum_{i=1}^{Z_n} X_i$ is obtained, where $\{X_i\}$ is a sequence of independent and identically distributed zero-mean random variables with tail index $α>2$. We shall see that the converging rate is determined by the immigration mean, the variance of reproducing and the tail index of $X_1^+$, comparing to previous result for supercritical case, where the rate depends on the Schröder constant …
In the Hammersley harness processes the real-valued height at each site i in Z^d is updated at rate 1 to an average of the neighboring heights plus a centered random variable (the noise). We construct the process "a la Harris" simultaneously for all times and boxes contained in Z^d. With this representation we compute covariances and show L^2 and almost sure time and space convergence of the process. In particular, the process started from the flat configuration and viewed from the height at the origin converges to an invariant measure. In dimension three and higher, the process itself converg…
We study a $1$-dimensional chain of $N$ weakly anharmonic classical oscillators coupled at its ends to heat baths at different temperatures. Each oscillator is subject to pinning potential and it also interacts with its nearest neighbors. In our set up both potentials are homogeneous and bounded (with $N$ dependent bounds) perturbations of the harmonic ones. We show how a generalized version of Bakry-Emery theory can be adapted to this case of a hypoelliptic generator which is inspired by F. Baudoin (2017). By that we prove exponential convergence to non-equilibrium steady state (NESS) in Wass…
