Lattice QCD Impact on Determination of CKM Matrix: Status and Prospects

Lattice QCD is an important tool for theoretical input for flavor physics. There have been four reviews by the Flavour Lattice Averaging Group (FLAG). This talk will review the current status of the magnitude of eight of the nine CKM matrix elements, borrowing heavily from the most recent FLAG review (co-authored by the speaker). Future prospects for improving the determination of the CKM matrix will be discussed.

CKM Phenomenology and B-Meson Physics - Present Status and Current Issues

We review the status of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix elements and the CP-violating phases in the CKM-unitarity triangle. The emphasis in these lecture notes is on $B$-meson physics, though we also review the current status and issues in the light quark sector of this matrix. Selected applications of theoretical methods in QCD used in the interpretation of data are given and some of the issues restricting theoretical precision on the CKM matrix elements discussed. Status of B_K from Lattice QCD

A brief review of lattice calculations of the bag parameter B_K relevant for understanding indirect CP violation in the neutral kaon sector is given. A status report on current state-of-the-art calculations is presented as well as a discussion of the value of B_K exported to phenomenologists. This is a condensed and updated version of the review presented at the CKM Unitarity Triangle Workshop held at CERN during Feburary 13-16, 2002 (http://ckm-workshop.web.cern.ch/ckm-workshop/).

Status and Prospects for Lattice Calculations in Heavy Quark Physics

The current status of lattice calculation of weak matrix elements for heavy quark systems is reviewed. After an assessment of systematic errors in present simulations, results for the B meson decay constant, the B-parameter B_B and semi-leptonic heavy-to-light and heavy-to-heavy transitions are discussed. The final topic are lattice results for heavy baryon spectroscopy.

Current status of $\varepsilon_K$ calculated with lattice QCD inputs

We present results for $\varepsilon_K$, the indirect CP violation parameter, calculated in the Standard Model using inputs from lattice QCD: the kaon bag parameter $\hat{B}_K$, and the CKM matrix element $V_{cb}$ from the axial current form factor for the exclusive decay $\bar{B}\to D^*\ell\barν$ at zero-recoil. In addition, we take the coordinates of the unitarity triangle apex $(\barρ,\barη)$ from the angle-only fit of the UTfit Collaboration and use $V_{us}$ to fix $λ$. The CKM matrix and flavor physics from lattice QCD

I discuss the role of lattice QCD in testing the Standard Model and searching for physics beyond the Standard Model in the quark flavor sector. I first review the Standard Model CKM framework. Progress and prospects for heavy flavour physics on the lattice

I review recent progress in lattice computations relevant for $B$- and charm physics, focusing on decay and mixing amplitudes with a direct impact on CKM analysis. Emphasis is put on the interplay with the upcoming new generation of experimental results, and the subsequent challenges for lattice computations in the heavy quark sector.

First row CKM unitarity

In this talk I briefly review the precision test of the first row CKM unitarity, focusing mainly on $V_{ud}$ and $V_{us}$ extracted from pion, kaon, neutron and superallowed nuclear beta decays. I will discuss the current status of several important Standard Model theory inputs to these processes, and the need for future improvements.

$|V_{ud}|$, $|V_{us}|$, $|V_{cd}|$, $|V_{cs}|$ and charm (semi)leptonic decays: WG1 summary from CKM 2016

We summarize the current status of the determination of the CKM matrix elements |V_ud| and |V_us|, which is at the precision frontier of CKM phenomenology. We also review recent progress on the study of charm (semi)leptonic decays, and the determination of |V_cd| and |V_cs|.

Current status of $\varepsilon_K$ with lattice QCD inputs

We present the Standard Model evaluation of the indirect CP violation parameter $\varepsilon_K$ using inputs determined from lattice QCD together with experiment: $|V_{us}|$, $|V_{cb}|$, $ξ_0$, and $\hat{B}_K$. We use the Wolfenstein parametrization ($|V_{cb}|$, $λ$, $\barρ$, $\barη$) for the CKM matrix elements. For the central value, we take the angle-only fit of the UTfit collaboration, and use $|V_{us}|$ from the $K_{\ell 3}$ and $K_{μ2}$ decays as an independent input to fix $λ$. The Parton Orbital Angular Momentum: Status and Prospects

Theoretical progress on the formulation and classification of the quark and gluon orbital angular momenta (OAM) is reviewed. Their relation to parton distributions and open questions and puzzles are discussed. We give a status report on the lattice calculation of the parton kinetic and canonical OAM and point out several strategies to calculate the quark and gluon canonical OAM on the lattice.

Status and prospect for determining $f_B$, $f_{B_s}$, $f_{B_s} / f_B$ on the lattice

Preliminary results from the MILC collaboration for $f_B$, $f_{B_s}$, $f_D$, $f_{D_s}$ and their ratios are presented. We compute in the quenched approximation at $β=6.3$, 6.0 and 5.7 with Wilson light quarks and static and Wilson heavy quarks. We attempt to quantify all systematic errors other than quenching, and have a first indication of the size of quenching errors.

Status and prospects for the calculation of hadron structure from lattice QCD

Lattice QCD calculations of hadron structure are a valuable complement to many experimental programs as well as an indispensable tool to understand the dynamics of QCD. I present a focused review of a few representative topics chosen to illustrate both the challenges and advances of our community: the momentum fraction, axial charge and charge radius of the nucleon. I will discuss the current status of these calculations and speculate on the prospects for accurate calculations of hadron structure from lattice QCD.

Prospects and status of quark mass renormalization in three-flavour QCD

We present the current status of a revised strategy to compute the running of renormalized quark masses in QCD with three flavours of massless O(a) improved Wilson quarks. The strategy employed uses the standard finite-size scaling method in the Schrödinger functional and accommodates for the non-perturbative scheme-switch which becomes necessary at intermediate renormalized couplings as discussed in [arXiv:1411.7648].

Multi-hadron molecules: status and prospect

Starting from 2003, the discovery of a large amount of the so-called exotic hadronic states, i.e., the $XYZ$ states, the pentaquark states as well as the tetraquark states, have not only revived studies of hadron spectroscopy, but also hinted at the existence of new multi-hadron states made of hadrons other than nucleons and hyperons. We briefly comment on some of the latest studies on multi-hadron molecules in the light and heavy flavor sectors and highlight what should be done in the future.
