The observation of long range ridge-like structure in the near-side region of the two particle $Δη-Δϕ$ correlations as measured by LHC experiments in high multiplicity p$-$p collisions indicated towards the presence of collective effects which are similar to that observed in p$-$A(nucleon-nucleus) and A$-$A (nucleus-nucleus) collisions. The two particle correlation between the charged particles in $Δη-Δϕ$ for p$-$p collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV and 13 TeV is studied using Pythia 8 event generator within the framework of final-state partonic color reconnection effects as well as the microscopic rope hadronization model. The rope hadronization relies on the formation of ropes due to overlapping of strings in high multiplicity events followed by string shoving. A near side ridge-like structure which is qualitatively similar to the observed ridge in data was observed for high-multiplicity events when the mechanism of rope hadronization (with shoving) was enabled.
Rope Hadronization is a model extending the Lund string hadronization model to describe environments with many overlapping strings, such as high multiplicity pp collisions or $AA$ collisions. Including effects of Rope Hadronization drastically improves description of strange/non-strange hadron ratios as function of event multiplicity in all systems from $e^+ e^-$ to $AA$. Implementation of Rope Hadronization in the MC event generators DIPSY and Pythia8 is discussed, as well as future prospects for jet studies and studies of small systems.
We present the microscopic model for collective effects, built on string-string interactions (string shoving and rope hadronization), recently implemented in the PYTHIA 8 and DIPSY event generators. Rope hadronization is shown to give a good description of strangeness enhancement across pp, pA and AA collisions systems, while string shoving qualitatively describes the ridge observed in pp collisions.
Probing strangeness with event topology classifiers in pp collisions at energies available at the CERN Large Hadron Collider with the rope hadronization mechanism in PYTHIA
We present novel rope hadronization results for strange hadron enhancement in pp, pPb, and PbPb collisions using PYTHIA/Angantyr at LHC energies. With the rope model for string fragmentation, we find that the strangeness and baryon enhancement has a coherent increase across all collision systems as a function of average charged central multiplicity, in qualitative agreement with LHC data. In AA collisions, we find that the baryonic yields overshoot data at high multiplicities, and we discuss how a combination of rope hadronization with other string interactions may tame this rise.
The resonance production in proton$-$proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV and 13 TeV have been investigated using Pythia 8 event generator within the framework of microscopic processes like color reconnection and rope hadronization. Specifically, the observable effects of different modes of color reconnections on the ratio of yields of mesonic and baryonic resonances with respect to their stable counterpart have been explored as a function of event activity. A suppression in the ratio is observed as a function of number of multi-partonic interactions for mesonic resonances. The $\mathrm{ϕ/K…
Enhancement in strangeness yields in heavy-ion collisions is regarded as one of the attributes of the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) along with jet quenching and final-state collectivity. To reproduce these effects in the MC implementation of the Lund string model in \pythia, the inclusion of non-perturbative mechanisms like string shoving and rope hadronization is crucial. In this proceeding, we discuss our latest implementation of these mechanisms and the preliminary results for the strangeness enhancement in high-multiplicity p-p, p-Pb and Xe-Xe. We conclude with remarks on the ongoing developmen…

In models for hadron collisions based on string hadronization, the strings are usually treated as independent, allowing no interaction between the confined colour fields. In studies of nucleus collisions it has been suggested that strings close in space can fuse to form "colour ropes". Such ropes are expected to give more strange particles and baryons, which also has been suggested as a signal for plasma formation. Overlapping strings can also be expected in pp collisions, where usually no phase transition is expected. In particular at the high LHC energies the expected density of strings is q…
Hyperon and antihyperon production is investigated using two microscopical models: {\bf (1)} the fast hadronization of quark matter as given by the ALCOR model; {\bf (2)} string formation and fragmentation as in the HIJING/B model. We calculate the particle numbers and momentum distributions for Pb+Pb collisions at CERN SPS energies in order to compare the two models with each other and with the available experimental data. We show that these two theoretical approaches give similar yields for the hyperons, but strongly differ for antihyperons.
The p$-$p collisions at high multiplicity at LHC show small scale collective effects similar to that observed in heavy ion collisions such as enhanced production of strange and multi-strange hadrons, long range azimuthal correlations, etc. The observation of strangeness enhancement in p$-$p collisions at at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV and 13 TeV as measured by ALICE experiment is explored using Pythia8 event generator within the framework of microscopic rope hadronization model which assumes the formation of ropes due to overlapping of strings in high multiplicity environment. The transverse momentum (…
We investigate long range rapidity correlations of pairs of prompt photon and jet in the Color Glass Condensate (CGC) framework in proton-proton and proton-nucleus collisions at RHIC and the LHC. We show that photon-jet correlations exhibit long-range azimuthal collimation at near-side for low transverse momenta of the produced photon and jet in high-multiplicity events. These ridge-like features are strikingly similar to the observed ridge effect for di-hadron correlations at RHIC and the LHC. We show that correlations in the relative rapidity and the relative azimuthal angle between pairs of…
Soft QCD is beyond perturbative control, and therefore phenomenological models have to be developed. These are implemented and combined within event generators. Typical aspects considered are multiparton interactions, colour reconnection, and hadronization. Of special interest are non-universal features of hadronization at the LHC, such as the recently observed enhancement of charm and bottom baryons, and the bottom baryon asymmetry, as well as the some years earlier observed strangeness enhancement. Several new production mechanisms, such as junction reconnection, ropes and shove, have been p…
An extension of the rope hadronization model, which has previously provided good descriptions of hadrochemistry in high multiplicity pp collisions, is presented. The extension includes a dynamically generated transverse pressure, produced by the excess energy from overlapping strings. We find that this model can qualitatively reproduce soft features of Quark Gluon Plasma in small systems, such as higher $\langle p_\perp \rangle$ for heavier particles and long range azimuthal correlations forming a ridge. The effects are similar to those obtained from a hydrodynamic expansion, but without assum…
We analyze the proton-lead collisions at the LHC energy of 5.02TeV in the three-stage approach, previously used to successfully describe the relativistic A-A collisions. The approach consists of the early phase, modeled with the Glauber model, the event-by-event viscous 3+1 dimensional (3+1 D) relativistic hydrodynamics, and the statistical hadronization at freeze-out. We show that features typical of collective dynamics, such as the harmonic flow and the ridge structures in the two-particle correlations in relative azimuth and pseudorapidity, may be naturally explained in our framework. In th…
Underlying events dominate most of the hadronic activity in p$-$p collisions and are spanned from perturbative to non-perturbative QCD, having a sensitivity ranging from the multi-scale to very low-x scale physics. A detailed understanding of such events plays a crucial role in the accurate understanding of Standard Model ()SM and Beyond Standard Model physics. The underlying event activities has been studied within the framework of Pythia 8 Monte Carlo model, considering the underlying events observables mean charged particle multiplicity density , $\langle d^{2}N /dηdϕ\rangle$ and mean scala…
I discuss a number of novel phenomenological features of QCD in high transverse momentum reactions. The presence of direct higher-twist processes, where a proton is produced directly in the hard subprocess, can explain the "baryon anomaly" -- the large proton-to-pion ratio seen at RHIC in high centrality heavy ion collisions. Direct hadronic processes can also account for the deviation from leading-twist PQCD scaling at fixed x_T = 2p_T/\sqrt s. I suggest that the "ridge" -- the same-side long-range rapidity correlation observed at RHIC in high centrality heavy ion collisions is due to the imp…
