Probabilistic aspects of Jacobi theta functions

In this note we deduce well known modular identities for Jacobi theta functions using the spectral representations associated with the real valued Brownian motion taking values on $[-1,+1]$. We consider two cases: (i) reflection at $-1$ and $+1$, (ii) killing at $-1$ and $+1$. It is seen that these two representations give, in a sense, most compact forms of the modular theta-function identities. We study also discrete Gaussian distributions generated by theta functions, and derive, in particular, addition formulas for discrete Gaussian variables.

Probabilistic aspects of critical growth-fragmentation equations

The self-similar growth-fragmentation equation describes the evolution of a medium in which particles grow and divide as time proceeds, with the growth and splitting of each particle depending only upon its size. The critical case of the equation, in which the growth and division rates balance one another, was considered by Doumic and Escobedo in the homogeneous case where the rates do not depend on the particle size. Probabilistic and fractal aspects of Levy trees

We investigate the random continuous trees called Lévy trees, which are obtained as scaling limits of discrete Galton-Watson trees. We give a mathematically precise definition of these random trees as random variables taking values in the set of equivalence classes of compact rooted R-trees, which is equipped with the Gromov-Hausdorff distance. Probabilistic aspects of the theory of vertex algebras

Determinantal processes on half-integer line can be studied using vertex algebras. They were used by Okounkov, where Schur processes were introduced and proved to be determinantal. We want to extend this vertex algebra approach. First, we establish the connection between the so-called z-measures and Virasoro operators. In fact, we prove that z-measures can be established by Virasoro algrebra action on Young diagrams space. Second, we introduce Virasoro measures and prove their determinancy.

Number variance from a probabilistic perspective: infinite systems of independent Brownian motions and symmetric alpha-stable processes

Some probabilistic aspects of the number variance statistic are investigated. Infinite systems of independent Brownian motions and symmetric alpha-stable processes are used to construct new examples of processes which exhibit both divergent and saturating number variance behaviour.
