In the present paper, we study the capability of interacting dark energy model with pure momentum transfer in the dark sector to reconcile tensions between low redshift observations and cosmic microwave background (CMB) results. This class of interacting model with pure momentum exchange introduces modifications to the standard model in the level of perturbation. We investigate the model by comparing to observational data, including integrated Sachs-Wolfe-galaxy cross-correlation, galaxy power spectrum, $f σ_8$, and CMB data. It is shown that this model can alleviate the observed tension between local and global measurements of $σ_8$. According to our results, the best fit value of $σ_8$ for interacting model is $0.700$, which is lower than the one for $Λ$CDM model and also is consistent with low redshift observations. Furthermore, we perform a forecast analysis to find the constraints on parameters of the interacting model from future experiments.
We study cosmological models with interaction between dark energy (DE) and dark matter (DM). For the interaction term $Q$ in cosmic evolution equations, there is a model-independent degeneracy-breaking (D-B) point when $Q_{1}$ (a part of $Q$) equals to zero, where the interaction can be probed without degeneracy between the constant DE equation of state (EoS).
The local measurement of $H_0$ is in tension with the prediction of $Λ$CDM model based on the Planck data. This tension may imply that dark energy is strengthened in the late-time Universe. We employ the latest cosmological observations on CMB, BAO, LSS, SNe, $H(z)$ and $H_0$ to constrain several interacting dark energy models. Our results show no significant indications for the interaction between dark energy and dark matter. The $H_0$ tension can be moderately alleviated, but not totally released.
We devise a fully self-consistent simulation pipeline for the first time to study the interaction between dark matter and dark energy. We perform convergence tests and show that our code is accurate on different scales. Using the parameters constrained by Planck, Type Ia Supernovae, Baryon Acoustic Oscillations (BAO) and Hubble constant observations, we perform cosmological N-body simulations. We calculate the resulting matter power spectra and halo mass functions for four different interacting dark energy models. In addition to the dark matter density distribution, we also show the inhomogene…
We propose an alternative scenario for the dark matter generation from an evolving cosmological constant which interacts with the dominant background in certain intermediate phase of the universe, and relaxes to the observed small value at present. In this way, it is shown that the interaction of the cosmological constant with the radiation or matter might generate the dark matter densities with a varied mass spectrum in the universe with their characteristic arc-like frozen signatures on the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation (CMBR). This approach also suggests a possible solution to the l…
The statefinder diagnosic is a useful method for distinguishing different dark energy models. In this paper, we investigate the new agegraphic dark energy model with interaction between dark energy and matter component by using statefinder parameter pair $\{r, s\}$ and study its cosmological evolution. We plot the trajectories of the new agegraphic dark energy model for different interaction cases in the statefinder plane. As a result, the influence of the interaction on the evolution of the universe is shown in the statefinder diagrams.
We propose a time-varying cosmological constant with a fixed equation of state, which evolves mainly through its interaction with the background during most of the long history of the universe. However, such interaction does not exist in the very early and the late-time universe and produces the acceleration during these eras when it becomes very nearly a constant. It is found that after the initial inflationary phase, the cosmological constant, that we call as lambda parameter, rolls down from a large constant value to another but very small constant value and further dominates the present ep…
Evolution of cosmological perturbations is considered in the model with dynamical dark energy which non-gravitationally interacts with dark matter. The dark energy equation of state parameter (EoS) is varying in time and is parameterized by its adiabatic sound speed. Such model of interacting dark energy has advantages over model with constant EoS, because it avoids non-adiabatic instabilities of dark energy at radiation dominated epoch for certain types of interaction in dark sector. The stability conditions for solutions of equations of dark energy perturbations were derived. The impact of s…
Motivated by the cosmological constant and the coincidence problems, we consider a cosmological model where the cosmological constant $Λ_0$ is replaced by a cosmological term $Λ(t)$ which is allowed to vary in time. More specifically, we are considering that this dark energy term interacts with dark matter through the phenomenological decay law $\dotρ_Λ=-Qρ_Λ^{n}$. We have constrained the model for the range $n\in[0,10]$ using various observational data (SNeIa, GRB, CMB, BAO, OHD), emphasizing the case where $n=3/2$. This case is the only one where the late-time value for the ratio of dark ene…
In this work we study linear and non-linear cosmological interactions, which depend on dark matter and dark energy densities in the framework of General Relativity. By using the Akaike information criterion (AIC) and the Bayesian information criterion (BIC) with data from SnIa (Union 2.1 and binned JLA), H(z), BAO and CMB we compare the interacting models among themselves and analyze whether more complex interacting models are favored by these criteria. In this context, we find some suitable interactions that alleviate the coincidence problem.
We discuss a new interacting model for the cosmological dark sector in which the attenuated dilution of cold dark matter scales as $a^{-3}f(a)$, where f(a) is an arbitrary function of the cosmic scale factor $a$. From thermodynamic arguments, we show that f(a) is proportional to entropy source of the particle creation process. In order to investigate the cosmological consequences of this kind of interacting models, we expand f(a) in a power series and viable cosmological solutions are obtained. Finally, we use current observational data to place constraints on the interacting function f(a).
In this work we extend the first order formalism for cosmological models that present an interaction between a fermionic and a scalar field. Cosmological exact solutions describing universes filled with interacting dark energy and dark matter have been obtained. Viable cosmological solutions with an early period of decelerated expansion followed by late acceleration have been found, notably one which presents a dark matter component dominating in the past and a dark energy component dominating in the future. In another one, the dark energy alone is the responsible for both periods, similar to …
In this paper we study a model of cosmic evolution, assuming that the different components of the universe could interact between them any time. An effective equation of state (EOS) for the universe has been used as well. A particular function for w, which gives a good agreement between our results and the experimental data, has been studied. Finally, the model obtained has been applied to different important cases.
The interacting dark energy model could propose a effective way to avoid the coincidence problem. In this paper, dark energy is taken as a fluid with a constant equation of state parameter $w_x$. In a general gauge, we could obtain two sets of different perturbation equations when the momentum transfer potential is vanished in the rest frame of dark matter or dark energy. There are many kinds of interacting forms from the phenomenological considerations, here, we choose $Q=3Hξ_xρ_x$ which owns the stable perturbations in most cases. Then, according to the Markov Chain Monte Carlo method, we co…
We study the density structures of dark matter subhalos for both cold dark matter and self-interacting dark matter models using high-resolution cosmological $N$-body simulations. We quantify subhalo's central density at 150 pc from the center of each subhalo at the classical dwarf spheroidal and ultrafaint dwarf scales found in Milky-Way sized halos. By comparing them with observations, we find that the self-interacting scattering cross-section of $σ/m<3\ \rm{cm^{2}g^{-1}}$ is favored. Due to the combination of hosts' tide and self-interactions, the central density of subhalos with small peric…
We present BAHAMAS-SIDM, the first large-volume, (400/h Mpc)^3, cosmological simulations including both self-interacting dark matter (SIDM) and baryonic physics. These simulations are important for two primary reasons: 1) they include the effects of baryons on the dark matter distribution 2) the baryon particles can be used to make mock observables that can be compared directly with observations. As is well known, SIDM haloes are systematically less dense in their centres, and rounder, than CDM haloes. Here we find that that these changes are not reflected in the distribution of gas or stars w…
We investigate the interaction between dark energy and dark matter in the framework of irreversible thermodynamics of open systems with matter creation/annihilation. We consider dark energy and dark matter as an interacting two component (scalar field and "ordinary" dark matter) cosmological fluid in a homogeneous spatially flat and isotropic Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) Universe. The thermodynamics of open systems as applied together with the gravitational field equations to the two component cosmological fluid leads to a generalization of the elementary dark energy-dark mater interaction…
We explore the cosmological consequences of interacting dark energy (IDE) models using the SNLS3 supernova samples. In particular, we focus on the impacts of different SNLS3 light-curve fitters (LCF) (corresponding to "SALT2", "SiFTO", and "Combined" sample). Firstly, making use of the three SNLS3 data sets, as well as the Planck distance priors data and the galaxy clustering data, we constrain the parameter spaces of three IDE models. Then, we study the cosmic evolutions of Hubble parameter $H(z)$, deceleration diagram $q(z)$, statefinder hierarchy $S^{(1)}_3(z)$ and $S^{(1)}_4(z)$, and check…
In the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) extended by a singlet superfield, when the coupling between the singlet sector and the MSSM sector is tiny, the singlet sector can be a quasi dark sector with supersymmetry (SUSY). We investigate the cosmological phenomena in this scenario and obtain the following observations: (i) In the parameter space solving the small cosmological scale anomalies via self-interacting singlino dark matter (SIDM), a first-order phase transition (FOPT) can readily happen but requires rather light dark matter below MeV; (ii) The corresponding parameter space …
A model for the universe with tachyonic and fermionic fields interacting through a Yukawa-type potential is investigated. It is shown that the tachyonic field answers for the initial accelerated regime and for the subsequent decelerated regime so that it behaves as an inflaton at early times and as a matter field at intermediate times, while the fermionic field has the role of a dark energy constituent, since it leads to an accelerated regime at later times. The interaction between the fields via a Yukawa-type potential controls the duration of the decelerated era, since a stronger coupling ma…
We revise the conditions for the physical viability of a cosmological model in which dark matter has bulk viscosity and also interacts with dark energy. We have also included radiation and baryonic matter components; all matter components are represented by perfect fluids, except the dark matter, that is treated as an imperfect fluid. We impose upon the model the condition of a complete cosmological dynamics that results in an either null or negative bulk viscosity, but the latter also disagrees with the Local Second Law of Thermodynamics. The model is also compared with cosmological observati…
A model for a homogeneous and isotropic spatially flat Universe, composed of baryons, radiation, neutrinos, dark matter and dark energy is analyzed. We infer that dark energy (considered to behave as a scalar field) interacts with dark matter (either by the Wetterich model, or by the Anderson and Carroll model) and with neutrinos by a model proposed by Brookfield et al.. The latter is understood to have a mass-varying behavior. We show that for a very-softly varying field, both interacting models for dark matter give the same results. The models reproduce the expected red-shift performances of…
In this work, we consider the cosmological constraints on the interacting dark energy models. We generalize the models considered previously by Guo {\it et al.}, Costa and Alcaniz, and try to discuss two general types of models: type I models are characterized by $ρ_{_X}/ρ_m=f(a)$ and $f(a)$ can be any function of scale factor $a$, whereas type II models are characterized by $ρ_m=ρ_{m0}\,a^{-3+ε(a)}$ and $ε(a)$ can be any function of $a$. We obtain the cosmological constraints on the type I and II models with power-law, CPL-like, logarithmic $f(a)$ and $ε(a)$ by using the latest observational …
In this paper, we test the dark matter-dark energy interacting cosmological model with a dynamic equation of state $w_{DE}(z)=w_{0}+w_{1}z/(1+z)$, using type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia), Hubble parameter data, baryonic acoustic oscillation (BAO) measurements, and the cosmic microwave background (CMB) observation. This interacting cosmological model has not been studied before. The best-fitted parameters with $1 σ$ uncertainties are $δ=-0.022 \pm 0.006$, $Ω_{DM}^{0}=0.213 \pm 0.008$, $w_0 =-1.210 \pm 0.033$ and $w_1=0.872 \pm 0.072$ with $χ^2_{min}/dof = 0.990$. At the $1 σ$ confidence level, we fin…
The increasingly significant tensions within $Λ$CDM, combined with the lack of detection of dark matter (DM) in laboratory experiments, have boosted interest in non-minimal dark sectors, which are theoretically well-motivated and inspire new search strategies for DM. Here we consider, for the first time, the possibility of DM having simultaneous interactions with photons, baryons, and dark radiation (DR). We have developed a new and efficient version of the Boltzmann code CLASS that allows for one DM species to have multiple interaction channels. With this framework we reassess existing cosmol…
We extend the dynamical systems analysis of Scalar-Fluid interacting dark energy models performed in C. G. Boehmer et al, Phys. Rev. D 91, 123002 (2015), by considering scalar field potentials beyond the exponential type. The properties and stability of critical points are examined using a combination of linear analysis, computational methods and advanced mathematical techniques, such as centre manifold theory. We show that the interesting results obtained with an exponential potential can generally be recovered also for more complicated scalar field potentials. In particular, employing power-…
In this paper the coupling between dark energy and the other components of the cosmological fluid has been studied. Firstly, it will be shown that the application of general cosmological equations, deduced by the authors in a previous work, to the known data of the Abell cluster A586 using the Layzer-Irvine theory gives similar results compared to the work of other authors. The aforesaid method present some problems: the application of an approximate theory (Layzer-Irvine theory), it has only one experimental datum and finally, it gives results that are a bit difficult to admit considering a p…
Future cosmological surveys will probe the expansion history of the universe and constrain phenomenological models of dark energy. Such models do not address the fine-tuning problem of the vacuum energy, i.e. the cosmological constant problem (c.c.p.), but can make it spectacularly worse. We show that this is the case for 'interacting dark energy' models in which the masses of the dark matter states depend on the dark energy sector. If realised in nature, these models have far-reaching implications for proposed solutions to the c.c.p. that require the number of vacua to exceed the fine-tuning …
In this paper, we shall study the dynamical behavior of the universe accelerated by the so called Veneziano ghost dark energy component locally and globally by using the linearization and nullcline method developed in this paper. The energy density is generalized to be proportional to the Hawking temperature defined on the trapping horizon instead of Hubble horizon of the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) universe. We also give a prediction of the fate of the universe and present the bifurcation phenomenon of the dynamical system of the universe. It seems that the universe could be dominated by…
The multi-messenger gravitational-wave (GW) observation for binary neutron star merger events could provide a rather useful tool to explore the evolution of the universe. In particular, for the third-generation GW detectors, i.e., the Einstein Telescope (ET) and the Cosmic Explorer (CE), proposed to be built in Europe and the U.S., respectively, lots of GW standard sirens with known redshifts could be obtained, which would exert great impacts on the cosmological parameter estimation. The total neutrino mass could be measured by cosmological observations, but such a measurement is model-depende…
We examine the evolution of a universe comprising two interacting fluids, which interact via a term proportional to the product of their densities. In the case of two matter fluids it is shown that the ratio of the densities tends to a constant after an initial cooling-off period. We then obtain a complete solution for the cosmological constant (w = -1) scenario. Finally, we investigate the general case in which the dark energy equation of state is p = w*rho, where w is a constant, and show that periodic solutions can occur if w < -1. We further demonstrate that the ratio of the dark matter to…
Rényi holographic dark energy (RHDE) correspondence is discussed in higher dimensional cosmology, namely Kaluza-Klein (KK) cosmology. Both interacting and non-interacting cosmological scenario are considered here. It is found that the non-interacting model naturally leads to the late accelerated universe, unlike the standard Holographic Dark Energy models in 4$D$, which requires interaction to accommodate the late-time acceleration of the universe. The interacting model produces an accelerating universe at late time albeit failing to attain the estimated present value of the deceleration param…
In trace-free Einstein gravity, the stress-energy tensor of matter is not necessarily conserved and so the theory offers a natural framework for interacting dark energy models where dark energy has a constant equation of state $w=-1$. We derive the equations of motion for linear cosmological perturbations in interacting dark energy models of this class, focusing on the scalar sector. Then, we consider a specific model where the energy-momentum transfer potential is proportional to the energy density of cold dark matter; this transfer potential has the effect of inducing an effective equation o…
Cosmological observations are becoming increasingly sensitive to the effects of light particles in the form of dark radiation (DR) at the time of recombination. The conventional observable of effective neutrino number, $N_{\rm eff}$, is insufficient for probing generic, interacting models of DR. In this work, we perform likelihood analyses which allow both free-streaming effective neutrinos (parametrized by $N_{\rm eff}$) and interacting effective neutrinos (parametrized by $N_{\rm fld}$). We motivate an alternative parametrization of DR in terms of $N_{\rm tot}$ (total effective number of neu…
From a variational action with non-minimal coupling with a scalar field and classical scalar and fermionic interaction, cosmological field equations can be obtained. Imposing a FLRW metric the equations lead directly to a cosmological model consisting of two interacting fluids, where the scalar field fluid is interpreted as dark energy and the fermionic field fluid is interpreted as dark matter. Several cases were studied analytically and numerically. An important feature of the non-minimal coupling is that it allows crossing the barrier from a quintessence to phantom behavior. The insensitivi…
We investigate the tachyonic cosmological potential $V(ϕ)$ in two different cases of the quasi-exponential expansion of universe and discuss various forms of interaction between the two components---matter and the cosmological constant--- of the tachyonic scalar field, which leads to the viable solutions of their respective energy densities. The distinction among the interaction forms is shown to appear in the $O_{m}(x)$ diagnostic. Further, the role of the high- and low-redshift observations of the Hubble parameter is discussed to determine the proportionality constants and hence the correct …
We study Friedmann-Robertson-Walker cosmological models with matter content composed of two perfect fluids $ρ_1$ and $ρ_2$, with barotropic pressure densities $p_1/ ρ_1=ω_1=const$ and $p_2/ ρ_2=ω_2=const$, where one of the energy densities is given by $ρ_1=C_1 a^α+ C_2 a^β$, with $C_1$, $C_2$, $α$ and $β$ taking constant values. We solve the field equations by using the conservation equation without breaking it into two interacting parts with the help of a coupling interacting term $Q$. Nevertheless, with the found solution may be associated an interacting term $Q$, and then a number of cosmol…
We study the evolution of cosmological perturbations in dark-matter models with elastic and velocity-independent self interactions. Such interactions are imprinted in the matter-power spectrum as dark acoustic oscillations, which can be experimentally explored to determine the strength of the self scatterings. Models with self interactions have similarities to warm dark matter, as they lead to suppression of power on small scales when the dark-matter velocity dispersion is sizable. Nonetheless, both the physical origin and the extent of the suppression differ for self-interacting dark matter f…
If dark matter has a large self-interaction scattering cross section, then interactions among dark-matter particles will drive galaxy and cluster halos to become spherical in their centers. Work in the past has used this effect to rule out velocity-independent, elastic cross sections larger than sigma/m ~ 0.02 cm^2/g based on comparisons to the shapes of galaxy cluster lensing potentials and X-ray isophotes. In this paper, we use cosmological simulations to show that these constraints were off by more than an order of magnitude because (a) they did not properly account for the fact that the ob…
We reconsider the dynamics of the Universe in the presence of interactions in the cosmological dark sector. A class of interacting models is introduced via a real function $f\left(r\right)$ of the ratio $r$ between the energy densities of the (pressureless) cold dark matter (CDM) and dark energy (DE). The subclass of models for which the ratio $r$ depends only on the scale factor is shown to be equivalent to unified models of the dark sector, i.e. models for which the CDM and DE components can be combined in order to form a unified dark fluid. For specific choices of the function $f\left(r\rig…
In the present article, we show that a simple modification to the Einstein-Hilbert action can explain the possibility of mutual interaction between the cosmic fluids. That is achieved considering the Weyl Integrable Spacetime in the background of a nonflat Friedmann-Lemnaître-Robertson-Walker geometry for the universe. We show that widely-known phenomenological interacting cosmological scenarios can naturally appear in this context. We then performed the dynamical system analysis of the underlying cosmological scenario and explored many possibilities extracted from this gravitational theory.
We extend the holographic Ricci dark energy model to include some direct, non-gravitational interaction between dark energy and dark matter. We consider three phenomenological forms for the interaction term $Q$ in the model, namely, $Q$ is taken proportional to the Hubble expansion rate and the energy densities of dark sectors (taken to be $ρ_{\rm de}$, $ρ_{\rm m}$, and $ρ_{\rm de}+ρ_{\rm m}$, respectively). We obtain a uniform analytical solution to the three interacting models. Furthermore, we constrain the models by using the latest observational data, including the 557 Union2 type Ia super…
In the effort to define the main features a successful solution to the Hubble tension should have, growing evidence has emerged pointing to the need for models able to modify the expansion (and possibly thermal) history of the universe both prior and after recombination, and that could thereby restore the overall concordance between early- and late-time observations without introducing nor worsening other cosmological tensions in the process. In precisely this spirit, here we consider a multi-interacting dark energy model with two complementary interaction channels: one with the dark matter an…
It has been shown that gravitational waves propagate through ideal fluids without experiencing any dispersion or dissipation. However, if the medium has a non-zero shear viscosity $η$ , gravitational waves will be dissipated at a rate proportional to $G \,η$. We constrain dark matter and dark energy models with non-zero shear viscosity by calculating the dissipation of gravitational waves from GW150914 which propagate over a distance of $410\, $ Mpc through the dissipative fluid and comparing the data with the theoretical prediction. This provides a proof-of-principle demonstration of the fact…
The next-generation CMB satellite missions are expected to provide robust constraints on a wide range of cosmological parameters with unprecedented precision. But these constraints on the parameters could weaken if we do not attribute dark energy to a cosmological constant. The cosmological models involving interaction between dark energy and dark matter can give rise to comparable energy densities at the present epoch, thereby alleviating the so-called cosmic coincidence problem. In the present paper, we perform a forecast analysis to test the ability of the future generation high-sensitive C…
We examine an interacting dark matter--variable vacuum energy model for a spatially flat Friedmann-Roberston-Walker spacetime, focusing on the appearance of cosmological singularities such as \emph{big rip, big brake, big freeze}, and \emph{ big separation} along with abrupt events (\emph{infinite $γ$- singularity} and \emph{new w-singularity}) at late times. We introduce a phenomenological interaction which has a nonlinear dependence on the total energy density of the dark sector and its derivative, solve exactly the source equation for the model and find the energy density as function of the…
We consider a generic description of interacting dynamical Dark Energy, characterized by an equation of state with a time dependent coefficient $w(t)$, and which may interact with both radiation and matter. Without referring to any particular cosmological model, we find a differential equation which must be satisfied by $w(t)$ and involving the function $Q(t)$ which describes the interaction between Dark Energy and the other cosmological fluids. The relation we find represents a constraint for various models of interacting dynamical Dark Energy. In addition, an observable is proposed, dependin…
In this work we shall investigate the occurrence of future cosmological finite-time singularities in the dynamical system corresponding to two cosmological theories, namely that of vacuum $f(R)$ gravity and that of three fluids. The vacuum $f(R)$ gravity is an example for which the variables we will choose to quantify the phase space dynamics, do not necessarily blow-up near a cosmological singularity. After appropriately choosing the variables, we shall investigate the behavior of the corresponding dynamical system near some types of cosmological finite-time singularities, for some limiting c…
In this work we revisit the question of whether Cosmology can be made compatible with scenarios with light sterile neutrinos, as invoked to explain the SBL anomalies, in the presence of self-interaction among sterile neutrinos mediated by massive gauge bosons. We examine this proposal by deriving the cosmological predictions of the model in a wide range of the model parameters including the effective interaction strength $G_X$, sterile neutrino mass $m_{\rm st}$ and active-sterile mixings. With those we perform a statistical analysis of the cosmological data from BBN, CMB, and BAO data to infe…
Non-gravitational interaction between two barotropic dark fluids, namely the pressureless dust and the dark energy in a spatially flat Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker model has been discussed. It is shown that for the interactions which are linear in terms the energy densities of the dark components and their first order derivatives, the net energy density is governed by a second order differential equation with constant coefficients. Taking a generalized interaction, which includes a number of already known interactions as special cases, the dynamics of the universe is described for three…
In this paper, we investigate cosmological consequences of a scenario for recently reported accelerated expansion of the Universe, in which the generalized Chaplygin gas (GCG) along with the baryonic matter are responsible for this observed phenomenon. In the present model, we employ an isotropic and homogeneous FLRW space time in the framework of $f(R,T)$ theory of gravity. In $f(R,T)$ gravity, the conservation of energy-momentum tensor (EMT) leads to a constraint equation which enforces us to use some specific forms of type $f(R,T)=g(R)+h(T)$. In this work we choose $g(R)=R$. We consider thr…
The objective of the present work is to study a cosmological model for a spatially flat Universe whose constituents are a dark energy field and a matter field which includes baryons and dark matter. The constituents are supposed to be in interaction and irreversible processes are taken into account through the inclusion of a non-equilibrium pressure. The non-equilibrium pressure is considered to be proportional to the Hubble parameter within the framework of a first order thermodynamic theory. The dark energy and matter fields are coupled by their barotropic indexes, which are considered as fu…
